On the Grid : Espressamente Illy

"Sleek is the key attribute of this Italian based coffee store. The international terminal of Castro coffee shops surprises with punchy red walls, making it not completely clean and cold. This is the best coffee shop to let everyone know your cozy on in the front windows. For the more adventurous travel towards the back, yes, keep going and discover the rewards of exploration." - pixelstud

Allegro is the name of the coffee shop run by Whole Foods. The coffee shop has a limited menu of hot coffee, cold brew, espresso drinks, and tea. Staff is friendly but not too knowledgeable. Other coffee options nearby like Verve or Starbucks.

Much cheaper, but much worse, than other coffee shops in the area. The beans are of generally lower quality than the competition, but it’s only $3.25

Yelp
The TikTok girlies somehow convinced me to try something from Whole Food's Coffee Bar and instead of ordering the Brown Butter Cookie Latte, I ended up with a DIY raspberry oat milk latte. Scanning over the menu, I realized that they really nickel and dime you... +$0.75 charge for nondairy milk-okay fine... +$0.75 charge for syrup-okay not really fine, but I've seen worse... +$0.50 charge for ice-okay this is ridiculous. The overall total for my drink came out to $5.50, which felt like a highway robbery in terms of supermarket coffee because the expectation was this would be more affordable than a specialized coffee shop. While the latte ended up being strong, I still couldn't justify the "hidden" costs.
