Cannot be more disappointed!! Unwelcoming female staff on first approach, just beaver we look Asian? She even charged us 4 coffee when we only got 3. Didn’t realized until we checked the receipt. To be fair they did refunded after calling and texting, but this shouldn’t even happen in the first place. Coming from Melbourne, the coffee is only average. Not worth the hype

So friendly and welcoming. There's a nice vibe here in this almost hole in the wall cafe. It's buzzy inside with a few tables and there's a compact outdoor space with lounge, benches, stools and a table. The coffee is perfect, lots of flavour and strong (it's the house blend too). And the sourdough toasties, first class. Nice one Essence cafe

It may be quiet when I went (10:30 on a friday) But the staff were very talkative and friendly. But the best part. The coffee was spectacular. That and they have street parking out front during the week for tradesman. (Its just on street) I would reccomend this to any trades passing through in the morning. They brewed fast but tasty. I reccomend.

Long time lover of Whah Whah coffee (and the lovely team who are always so friendly!) now they have stepped up to offer a gorgeous selection of fresh sandwiches! Just what Neutral Bay and the broader Sydney community needs! Flavours are bold, fresh and really well balanced and the servings are perfectly sized for lunch. If you’re a lover of a good sami, absolutely make the trip to Whah Whah!

Ah, Essence. My one true love. I've missed this place ever since I changed jobs and started working in the CBD. I drop by every now and again at the weekend for a cheeky coffee. It's still as good as I remember.

This is a great little hole in the wall with a great atmosphere. I have only grabbed a coffee here a few times, but it is exceptional. The coffee is smooth and delicious, which when I order decaf is surprising! The service is wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. Even when you are pushing a pram into a tiny little coffee shop to get bub out of the sun. As others have said, great spot for a solo coffee! There is limited seating, but great for take away!

a couple of friends and myself went out to Neutral Bay for the day. found Essence Coffee right off Military Road and what a little hidden gem. the shop itself is quite small, but has a cozy feel to it. more importantly the coffee is legit. i had a flat white and it was pretty excellent. they did have food and other beverages available. their bacon egg roll looked quite tasty so i'll definitely have to check this place out again soon. service was great and the staff were really nice. worth a trip if you're in the area.

This place has a quiet and cool vibe that I like. Some places do, many don't. I suspect it's because of the narrow layout. Forces people's to interact and speak. Clever. Coffee is good. Muffins are bulging with berries and the sarnies look delicious. After 3 Addictions closed for morning coffee, Essence gets my vote for Cremorne/Neutral Bay. Okky runs things. Nice guy. Works hard.

Totally agree with those that have reviewed previously ... Great coffee, and a place you can sit alone but still feel connected. Prompt service from the barista and a relaxed vibe and the coffee does not burn your mouth with the first sip.
