We walked past Wharf Bar on Sunday afternoon when we first arrived in Ballina. The place was absolutely buzzing, not surprising given it was the Easter long weekend, so we decided to come back another night as there was no space for us and our five-month-old baby.
Fast forward to tonight, and we finally got to try it out. It was still busy, which is always a good sign, and while the food took a little longer than expected to arrive, that is totally understandable with the crowd. When you have a bub who is getting tired and ready for bed, a few extra minutes can feel like forever, but honestly, it was well worth the wait.
We ordered two dishes from their Tuesday specials, the mussels and the fish and chips, and both were absolutely spot on. The mussels were fresh and flavourful with a generous portion of bread to soak up the broth, and the fish and chips were solid. The portion sizes were generous, especially considering the price. Great value for money.
The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, with stunning views over the water and a relaxed vibe that made it easy to unwind, even with a baby in tow. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially the maître d’, who really went out of his way to give us a nice seat with a view of the sunset.
Overall, we really enjoyed our night out at Wharf Bar. It is a great spot for couples, families, or anyone looking to enjoy a solid meal with a beautiful view and good service. We will definitely be back for a drink next time we’re in town!
