Always a great experience! What A Bagel in Richmond Hill is on repeat for us — it never disappoints. We’ve always had delicious breakfasts, friendly and efficient service, and the bagels are hands-down the best around. The chive cream cheese is a must, and we often grab party sandwiches and sweet treats to go. Consistently fresh, tasty, and welcoming — a solid favorite.

A true local Gem. I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years for good reason. This place never disappoints. The staff are incredible, the food is always amazing. Fresh and delicious. On repeat. So grateful to have a place like this. Thank you to all the ladies who always serve with a smile and truly make each visit a great experience.

On August 16, I visited the What A Bagel location at Bathurst & Elgin Mills and ordered two flat bagels (egg salad and tuna), paying about $22. I was very disappointed with the portions—the amount of egg salad and tuna was so small that it didn’t even cover the bagels completely. For the price charged, the quality and portion size were far below expectations.

Had breakfast here with a friend. Really impressed with our server, Zohar! He provided excellent service and attention to detail. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Very extensive menu. My croissant was extremely fresh! My friend had the boiled egg with rye toast. Everything was perfect!

I skewers but my bagels here, a dozen of sesame seed and a dozen of everything. It is a self-serve for most goods (you pick and pack your own bag of bagels). They are always fresh and loaded with seeds. This time I passed some racks of donuts, filled with jelly, Nutella, custard, or caramel. I chose the jelly filled ones and they were so delicious! The cashier said they were made for Hanukkah. Highly recommended for the best bagels (and donuts)!

Google
I am from out of town and had breakfast here twice since it was so good. Amazing gluten free bagels loaded with creme cheese. Had Randy as my server the last two times I’ve been here and she is absolutely amazing! Definitely will come back anytime I am in the area.

Yelp
Food is amazing, Service is always friendly and fast. We come to this location every Sat and Sunday to recharge after a workout and this place feels like home. Great job to all workers of this location!

Yelp
Picked up a Kimmel rye this morning to eat this weekend and a Bagel for breakfast when I get home. Great counter service and fantastic product.

Yelp
Been to this location several times and the food always is great. My only complaint is that one of the ladies working there tries to take your order extremely fast and messes it all up. I had to ask her to slow down several times. Rest other people working there are great. You must touch the doors to open them. No hand sanitizers. On weekends it gets very busy, so plan it accordingly.

Yelp
My gfs and I care here for brunch after learning it will be a 45mins wait at café Landwer. This is one of those situations where plan B didn't work out. The food is so meh here. I ordered the southwestern egg Benny which suppose to come with avo, onions, red peepers, cheese, but all I got was avo and green onions. I ordered a side garden salad to accompany my egg Benny and the lettuce was bitter. Normally I wud send it back but I don't think a new batch will be any better so I didn't bother. Plus the service here is not the best. A couple times we asked for extra milk and cream, we didn't even get an acknowledgement, we got our milk and cream but just no acknowledgement. This place is quite busy with higher turnovers, so not the best place to catch up with friends.

Yelp
The fresh delicious bagels are so good. They were still warm when I got it! The rainbow bagel look sooo cool!! Too much rolling on the dough would cause the colours to look muddy and it didn't the colours were bright and pretty!! It was a perfect bagel, hard crust with soft centre! Yum!!!

Yelp
Bagels are ok. But front of house staff are rude and are seemingly offended when you order a bagel to be made into a sandwich. She was also equally affronted when I had to use a chip card to pay, claiming that there are gloves provider at the door for such situations Entrance doors do not have accessibility button and you must touch the door handle to get it. They provide gloves at the second door but this effort is nulled if you've already contaminated your hands opening the first door or will contaminate your hands whether they are gloved or not opening the second door. No sign of hand sanitizers

Yelp
This store's all bread is yummy. Especially I love sandwich bread, peacan cake and bagles.

Yelp
Unfortunately, this is the only decent bagel joint around. I miss the Bagel World at Dufferin and Major Mac. I'm here every now and again, but really everything is just Okay. I wish they were a little bit more generous with their portions. They charge you for a tomatoe slice which always pissed me off. Staff are friendly though.

Yelp
Had a party and decided to go dairy. Contacted Sarnali who was the manager. She gave me great advice on what to order and most important, the quantities. Turns out that many people couldn't make it and I called Sarnali to adjust the order. She had no problems with it and credited my credit card immediately. A great job!!

Yelp
We arrived around 10am on a Sunday so we were able to get a seat right away. Ordered the heart smart breakfast with an iced latte which wasn't too sweet! The server we got was quite friendly so we were able to ask for recommendations before we ordered. The service time is just right (not too fast or slow), and you can always order on the "to go" / "take out" side if you're in a hurry. Overall I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Terrible service and attitude! Waited for 5 minutes while the lady behind the counter was talking on the phone with her friend. I pointed to my watch to show that I am in a hurry, but she just looked away and continued chatting on the phone. I was meeting a friend there and couldn't leave, but the situation was totally bizarre. I give this place 2 stars rather than 1 because the cheesecake was quite good.

Yelp
Experienced same "rude and annoyed" customer service as others have mentioned. Front staff seem annoyed to have customers. Bagel sandwiches are good so I grin and bear it. If another bagel shop opened up nearby I think they'd see a big exodus of customers.

Yelp
It surprises me that there are so few reviews for this place considering how busy they are during brunch hours on weekends. I've been here several times on Sunday afternoons around 12:30/1pm, and I've always had to wait at least 10 minutes to be seated because it's always so full! My staple order is their smoked salmon benedict. They also have this house-made hot sauce you can ask for, which adds an extra kick to your meal. My friend wanted chocolate chip pancakes, which surprisingly wasn't on the menu, but he asked and they were able to make them for him. I can't speak for the actual bakery outside since I haven't had a chance to try their baked goods, but their brunch is great and one of my favourite places in the area.

Yelp
Amazing food, the breakfast is really good. The only problem i found with What a bagel was the price.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick breakfast or brunch time meal, come here!! I called for pick up and the man was very kind. Obviously since we are in quarantine, their kitchen was not opened but the man offered me many alternatives and gave me extremely generous amounts. The portion sizes are huge !! It is a bit on the pricy side for the meals $10-$17. I got myself a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels with lettuce, cucumber, tomato and onions.l and a side of Greek salad.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Rude staff. Seemed annoyed by customers who come in to buy their products.

Sep F.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. When we asked for a coffee the girl on the cash told us the coffee is not fresh and she refused to brew fresh coffee. She goes it's an hour before closing and they may not sell the whole pot. Coffee shop must always offer fresh brewed coffee. Also we were trying to sit in dine in but the floor math was jammed in the front door to dine in and blocked the entrance. Never get back there for a coffee break.

Amber H.

Yelp
Worst customer service in my whole life! Staff have horrible attitude. Food is just as bad as the service! Do not spend a dime here, just avoid this place.

Yelp
I'm moving a little north so I decided to test this location of what a bagel, ordered their avocado grilled cheese sandwich and it was delicious, the specialty coffees were very good as well, i'm glad i can safely replace my favorite WAB at center location for this one, but they have to prove themselves several times more to get my 5 star review :))

Yelp
I have been a regular customer to this location since it opened. I work and live in the area so I treated this store as my local bakery/coffee shop. However, today I met my wife for lunch because we like to pick a fresh beagle and make a sandwich. After paying for the sandwiches and a dozen beagles, we proceeded to sit down and eat. Then in front of everyone we were told that we can not eat in the restaurant if we payed at the counter. There was no sign to warn customers of this. I felt embarrassed and personally insulted as my wife and I were forced to pack up and eat in the car. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

Yelp
We've been buying bagels and bread here since it opened. Their restaurant is always busy so we decided to give it a try for lunch. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The coffee was only okay. My spouse had a grilled cheese sandwich which he really enjoyed. I had a bagel with egg salad and a cream of chicken soup. The egg salad was a bit too dry. The soup was not a "cream" soup but rather a huge amount of shredded chicken pieces in a watery broth. I was really disappointed with my meal but I'll give it another try - maybe for the grilled cheese.

Yelp
Bagel was good, but attitude of the staff is very bad. Price of freshly squeezed orange juice was $2.99 on the menu, but I was charged $3.99. On asking they said, it has increased since January. I think the orange juice was not even freshly squeezed. My friend returned it as it tasted like a bottled juice.

Yelp
First time at this location, will never return again. Food quality was great. The big problem was the staff. I went in with my hubby to grab some lunch. I looked around and decided you grab a few baked treats. As I came up to the counter my hubby was ordering our lunch. Two chicken Caesar salads. First thing the cashier/worker said was it doesn't come with chicken, chicken is extra 2$..... As if we weren't aware? Each salad comes with your choice of bagel..... So we had requested for cream cheese on our bagels. As she was ringing this all in the cash register a second employee stepped in and said she had to add $3.89 x 2. So we are paying 3.89 for cream cheese on each bagel???? That makes no sense. The lady behind us in line was telling us to keep an eye out for what they where charging us because they where ripping us off. The cashier heard all of this going on and so suddenly called another lady over, this lady was so RUDE she came up asking us what the problem was and we where already frustrated repeating our order telling her we just wanted to add cream cheese to our bagels that come included to our salad meal. She repeated over and over to calm down not to be mad... We weren't mad we where annoyed and had 3 people behind us waiting to pay for their goods, so we told them to care of them first. Then by the looks of it the owner showed up and told the workers to just do it? So they put cream cheese on our bagels and then the lady punching in the order was telling us that we where getting our sandwiches for free. For free??? The bagel comes with the salad??? All we wanted was cream cheese added to the bagels. She made us feel so awful, as if we where looking to get free stuff. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!
