Wheatbelt Gallery is a cozy spot in Moora where art meets good vibes, serving up coffee, bites, and drinks in a charming setting from Tuesday to Saturday.
My girlfriend and I from Perth were doing a leisurely, three-day road trip recently and were passing through Moora. We saw a sign on the footpath for the 'gallery, cafe and wine bar' so we wandered down to check it out. There was a whiteboard sign in the front window with a list of guidelines about entering due to Covid 19. There was nobody in this very small 'gallery' and we wondered where the "100 people" that was stated on the window sign would fit. We stood in the small room waiting for a shop assistant to welcome us but then noticed arrows on the carpet leading to a closed door. I thought there must be something beyond the door, such as a larger space - and perhaps the wine bar and cafe. There was no "Keep Out" sign on this door but I knocked regardless, to be courteous. No answer. I opened the door and called out. No answer. We walked down the corridor looking for something that resembled a gallery, cafe and wine bar but were suddenly confronted by a very irate woman demanding to know what we doing. I tried explaining we were looking for the gallery, cafe and wine bar that was supposed to fit up to 100 people but she just seemed to become more and more irritated before finally slamming her door in my face. Unfortunately, I didn't get to explain that we had simply followed the arrows that were on the carpet to the door we walked through. I also didn't get to ask if we had wanted to purchase something from the small 'gallery' out the front how would we do that - as there was nobody in there. So beware - and don't walk through the door where the arrows lead.
