If I could give zero stars, I would. The owner of this establishment is RACIST. Our 4 teen boys excitedly went to the shop to rent bikes. The boys went inside to see the electric bikes and 2 of them sat in them. Both mothers were present. The owner told his workers to get control of this HORDE and proceeded to raise his voice to our boys and told them to step outside. I then asked if they were being unruly to which he replied yes because they touched the bikes which were for sale. I informed him that the appropriate response is to speak to the parents who are present who will then handle the situation. First, four boys do NOT make a horde. This is dehumanizing and disrespectful. They were not disorderly just curious. Secondly, you are not their parent, caretaker, nor in charge of them. You do not usurp a parent’s authority as you have NO RIGHT to speak to their children. You are not their guardians. You own no one! Lastly, when given appropriate feedback which is calm and thoughtful, accept it and do not make poor excuses based on hyperbole and prejudice. If you see black boys as a disorderly horde, you do not deserve the economic support of our community. Let us NOT support bigotry, arrogance, and the dehumanization of Black boys. For Edgartown bike rentals, rent from Martha’s Vineyard Bike Rentals or Edgartown Bike rentals!!

I recently had an outstanding experience at Wheel Happy Bicycle Shop in Edgartown! Phil went above and beyond to ensure my bike was ready to ride, expertly fixing a broken chain. The shop offers fantastic add-ons for bikes (all the bells and whistles, literally!) and its downtown location is super convenient. Highly recommend Wheel Happy for all your biking needs on Martha’s Vineyard!

The best! I highly recommend. The owner was so so nice - gave us advice on where to bike, and when I accidentally knocked the chain loose on my bike, fixed it and let me use his special soap to get the grease off my hands. He was also very flexible on the bike return, letting us lock them up outside after hours so we can didn’t miss out on the ride we wanted to do. They were great! Get your bike rental here!

Rented 2 adult bikes for the day. Great experience overall. Lock, helmet but most importantly bikes were in excellent condition. Owner on site and engaged with staff and working on bikes. Price was reasonable and in fact cheaper than the competitors. The staff members were polite and offered advise about bike routes. Will be back to try their electric bikes. Would highly recommend!

What a great shop. The owner was working on bike assembly when we came in to check on seats. Gave great info on seats AND bike fitting/ size even though he knew we were from out of state and couldn't buy from him. So accommodating. Prices are very competitive. They can ship too.

Owner was really nice and very helpful. Great little shop on the island with knowledgeable and friendly staff. While most shops weren't open on the island yet, would definitely choose to come here again.

They were lovely here-it could not have been easier to rent bikes. The entire transaction took no more than ten minutes. Highly recommend.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience with Wheel Happy! My group was coming to Martha's Vineyard for a charity bike ride and Phil helped us get everything we needed, from making sure we had the right size bikes to even delivering the rental bikes to the starting line! The bikes were comfortable safe and the rental price can't be beat. Thanks Phil and we will definitely be coming back next year and recommending Wheel Happy!

I came here to rent a bike to use in Chappaquiddick Island. You can also rent bikes forgetting around Martha's Vineyard. The bikes here are well maintained. They will get you a bike for your height and make all the adjustments needed. They are such a pro, that while I was paying, the other guy already had the bikes set up and adjusted. When I sat on the bike, it was already at the correct height. I would highly recommend coming here for bike rentals!

Hands down best place to rent a bike from on the island. During every one of my trips here this is where we rent and where I tell everyone going to the island to rent from as well. The owner is so friendly and easy to work with; he is even kind anytime I have had to call to extend my rental. The bikes are well maintained. He has a large fleet to choose from with different styles and sizes for people. He is happy to help you find what you need. I highly suggest renting here, the ease of being right in Edgartown is always appreciated as well.

They have a very handsome and accommodating staff! Graham (the boss man), my mechanic, did a great job putting fresh pedals on my bike for me and a kick stand. George, a coworker of Grahams, offered to babysit my children and told me to share the word because he is looking for business to purchase some golfing lessons. Dylan and Tucker offered to DJ at my sons birthday party which is there specialty! They could not be more of gentleman. Ridder brought the energy up and produced good vibes through out the shop! Phil, offered to screw the bolts in my sons bike and Philled up my tires for no charge. He was a very outgoing man and had a wicked good haircut! There was someone sitting outside eating steak tips, I believe his name was will, and he welcomed me into the bike shop and offered me a tip! Overall, I had a fantastic experience and could not recommend the shop in their enough, and George's babysitting service if you are in need!

All around great experience! I have a bunch of kids and we needed a tandem bike to see the island. Phil set us up with a bucket bike that could handle my two smallest kids. I took that home for a night and had second thoughts in thinking a tag-a-long might work better for my older kids. Phil swapped us out hassle free and we really enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

If I could rate it higher I would. First my combo lock didn't work ( yes I forgot combinatiom during covid) - and I came after they were officially open and the owner accommodated with a smile. Then, I had my bike tire needing repair. Again he took care of it quickly and with a smile. What a wonderful business!!!'n saved my vacation!!!

No better place to buy a bike on the island. Phil is knowledge, helpful, & fair. George, my bike delivery driver, was such a gentleman. Great quality rentals for visitors. Cant recommend Phil & his staff enough!

This place is awesome. The new location is ideal, as well as their service being unsurpassed. A chain broke on one of our old Columbia women's bikes and our first stop was a different bike shop downtown. They told us it would take all day to repair the chain, IF they could manage to do so. After many phone calls and a day's wait, we picked up the bike with the chain and chain guard off of the bike in a paper bag. Our next stop was Wheel Happy. There, we were met with an extremely friendly and knowledgeable owner and staff, who were able to fix the chain right in front of us, without question, in about 5 minutes. I will be sure to stop by Wheel Happy in the future, even just to browse, because the experience and staff were so pleasant!

If you were to go out and open a modern day bike rental shop with great equipment, wide variety of bike styles and options for all rider types, and comprehensive bike maps and suggestions to maximize your experience, you'd use Happy Wheels as the blueprint. They will accommodate large or small groups and even equip you with water for your journey.

Popped in for a tire repair. Was in and out with a new tire in 10 minutes, along with a host of other tweaks. Great customer service.

Great service! Really kind shopowner who gave us a half-day rate ($21 per person) because we're in town for a wedding and just wanted to do a morning ride to Oak Bluffs.

After calling a few other Edgartown locations for bike repair I called Wheel Happy. They understood the wheel issue over the phone(other bike shops didn't have informed help) and said to bring it over. The repair was quick while I waited and the conversation great.

Awesome! Best place to rent bikes in the area. Super friendly service, goes above and beyond for his customers and has a great sense of humor. My family and I went for a girls weekend and rented bikes to visit Chappaquiddick and he was great to all of us from the moment my sister in law called for information. My family and I have been renting bikes from Phil and his staff for over 10 years. He is a kind, friendly, honest person who enjoys people. I have really become more familiar with Phil over the years and I think he is a great guy. There are other bike shops in Edgartown, but Phil makes the experience lots of fun. He has bikes of all types for all age ranges. His pricing is extremely fair and he wants to make sure his customers are satisfied. So when you are in Edgartown and want to rent a bike, walk over to Wheel Happy and see Phil and his staff. You will be glad you did

This shop was pretty quick in getting us outfitted and on a pair of bikes for a week long rental, costing about $100. My friend's bike wasn't shifting great at first, and suffered a complete derailed failure while we were 4 miles walk from Edgartown, which was unfortunate. We brought the bike back and they replaced it immediately. A good place, just check your bike carefully before you ride!

I can't recommend this place enough. I came with a broken gear shift, which another bike shop in Edgartown had priced out at $65. Instead of trying to take advantage of a girl with no mechanical skills, the friendly guy at Wheel Happy went out of his way to try to fix it for free and when that didn't work, he replaced it for 1/3 of the other estimate. And it was ready after a short walk around the beautiful downtown.

What a lovely experience we had when we decided to rent our bicycles in Martha's Vineyard from Happy Wheels. Phil was most accommodating and friendly. The best service in Edgar town!

We stopped in one morning to buy a saddle bag for my folding bike. I asked if we could take our bike into the store so we could see if any of the bags would fit. Phil cheerfully told us to take the bag outside to see if it fit our bike - I was surprised that he'd let us leave the store with unpaid merchandise, but that is just Phil's style. We ended up buying a metal cage style basket that fit on my rack. We also bought a rack for my husband's folding bike, which Phil custom-fit to work with the smaller frame of a folding bike. It was a truly great shopping experience that only got better. Later that day, my husband mentions that he can't find his credit card. He thinks the last time that he had it we were at Wheely Happy. I called the the store to check and Phil told us that he had our card and had been trying to find us via the harbormaster (when we were shopping, we he told Phil that we had arrived by boat and were on a town mooring). Amazing customer service. I would definitely recommend Wheely Happy to anyone needing bike service, accessories or rentals.

Every once in a while you stumble upon a business that makes you want to race to a computer and write a review. This is wheel happy. Great people, quality bikes and really really nice! It's amazing how powerful being nice can be.

I rented a Brookyn Style bicycle from Wheels Up location on Water St and it was a pleasant (easy) experience. I picked up and dropped off myself as I was staying at a nearby Inn. I really liked that they had a different type of bicycle to offer (other than the regular hybrids and beach cruisers) and the bike was pretty much brand new. I didn't like that they wouldn't add a basket (they claimed it would scratch the bike, even a straw one) but the bike did come with a small pouch in front, not enough for beach towel or anything more than personal belongings but not a big deal. It all went smoothly and easy. The only reason I did not provide them with 4 stars was because two days later, I wanted to rent the bike plus one for my husband as well again, this time we had moved hotels to Oak Bluffs, and called up to see if they would deliver two bikes to us. I was surprised when they said NO. I told them I specifically liked their bikes and that I had been a customer just a couple of days prior but they said, sorry "NO" our "truck is all full today". This was a disapointment, since all other companies in the island deliver to and from each of the towns (specifically between Edgartown where they are located and Oak Bluffs). Before deciding to say no, I heard the person on the phone ask someone (probably manager or owner) and the question was "how many days" when we said "one", they said flat "NO". so this was a little disappointing. We rented instead in a place in Oak Bluffs who was happy to deliver and at a lower daily rate too, so at the end, not a big problem for us, but worth mentioning to others.
