We came as a group of 16 pax, so we were given 3 tables when we arrived. (We made reservations ahead of time)
Food came very promptly and was all piping hot, something we really really appreciate with both elderly and children in our group!! The food was great too, everyone loved the food - the tomahawk was done to the right doneness, the beef cheek was wonderful, the roasted chicken, burgers, fish and chips all wonderful.
The service we got that night however, was downright appalling.
The service staff kept trying to clear our table even when we were still eating. They did not seek our permission before trying to clear the table - they simply leaned over us and reached for our plates and tried to clear them.
I had to stop the service staff twice (not including my other family members) from clearing our plates because we still had food on them??? They did not apologize either.
The whole meal we either had the service staff hovering around our tables staring at us eat, or interrupting us and trying to clear our plates all the time. It was very uncomfortable and unpleasant.
When we tried to ask about water, your staff told us rudely “order from the app”. We couldn’t hear him because of the music so he repeated in an even ruder way “SIR, ORDER FROM THE APP”
Shortly after, one of the service staff took a customer’s water bottle and filled it for her, for free.
When the children at our table went to the playground for a short break, the staff immediately cleared the whole table of all plates and cutlery without asking if we were done. At one point there were 2 staff gesticulating at the empty tables that they cleared, unhappy that it was unoccupied (the children were at the playground)
One of your service staff glared at me with hostility, so I simply held his gaze until he turned away. I went to ask the hostess if there was a dining time limit, just to be sure we were not overstaying our welcome. She confirmed there was no dining time limit and I was free to stay for as long as I liked.
Strange how we were made to feel like we had to clear out of the restaurant ASAP. She later came back to whisper to me to say “there is no time limit for eating but please let me know if you are done with the tables so we can release the tables”, which I completely understand. I told her we were going to cut a birthday cake and then going to leave.
So we called for the cake, sang the song and cut the cake. When your very diligent service staff once again cut in front of us to clear our near-empty and unused plates, I told him we were done with one of the tables (at the end) and we were happy to release it.
(At this point there were still more than 15 empty tables in the restaurant)
He scoffed at me and said there’s no need to because we are still using the other 2 tables and there’s “no point” while rolling his eyes and gesticulating at me. I did not respond to him but chose to sit back down instead.
The music by Shirlyn and the Unexpected was wonderful though and made things a little better in the end!!!!
Full marks for the food and the music, but the service here desperately needs work.
