In many ways, this is the best hostel in Whistler, but it does have some shortcomings. This review is for a stay we had in March 2025.
I love how it's nestled in the forest right on Whistler mountain.
The dorm beds are spacious and the hostel's policy of complete quiet in the dorms does lend itself to a better sleeping experience (provided guests follow the rules). The drying room for thermals and boots in each dorm is so nice to have. The kitchen is spacious, clean, and well-stocked with cookware. There are ample places to relax or eat, including a quieter area for study/work (the storage lockers are also huge). They have a dedicated shed for waxing skis and snowboards which is luxurious compared to some other hostels around. The aesthetic of the entire place is also just perfect, you really feel like you're having a proper mountain getaway in a cabin. I can't forget about the staff either who were always friendly and willing to help.
I don't love how small the bathrooms are given the number of guests. The men's side has TWO toilets, sinks, and showers, plus one urinal. Due to the sheer volume of traffic it receives and poor ventilation, you can expect consistent humidity and overcrowding (like, dripping from the ceiling humidity). The women's side may be better.
Skiiers may also find the walk to the gondola to be challenging and exhausting in their boots. While it's true the Creekside ski-out is only a 10-minute walk away, you will be walking up and down somewhat steep foothills on pavement that's often slippery. For snowboarders, there is really no better location in this price range.
I didn't love how the luggage storage lockers are in the loft while the dorms are in the basement. Prepare to sleep with some clothes at the foot of your bed or you'll have to walk up two flights of stairs to get at your stuff.
