We sat outside, as it was a beautiful day. The dining patio overlooks the course with a view of the lake. Superb! Our food tasted great. We started with pretzel bites, which everyone loved. They came out hot and crispy. I had the potato leek soup and the spinach berry salad with grilled chicken, and candied pecans. One person had the mac n cheese, one had the caprese sandwich, and my hubby had a veggie burger. We will definitely be back!

Google
Whistling Straits is outstanding when it comes to the breathtaking views, old world atmosphere & marvelous food. It is a must see area of Wisconsin.

We were treated to a special dining experience at Whistling Straits. From perfectly prepared cocktails through our melt in your mouth steak entrees, it was fabulous. It is expensive, so save up for a celebration. You will not regret paying for great hospitality.

Google
Fabulous start to a weekend of golf! Kimberly our server was excellent; she was attentive, warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. I wish I had gotten a bowl of the Potato Leek Soup—so creamy and perfectly balanced in flavor! The Iceberg Wedge Salad was so unique. Each component expertly curated for a light dish with lots of flavor. My husband enjoyed the Friday Clam Chowder and the Fish and Chips as well. The soup was the star, but the whole lunch was delightful! UPDATE: I came back for a bowl a couple days later, and the experience matched our first time! 👍⭐️

Google
Excellent food and drink menus in a sophisticated setting. First-rate staff. I had the fish and chips...the haddock was light and fluffy, the batter crispy. Delicious! Be sure to make a reservation because it's a bit of a drive. Highly recommended.

Google
I accidentally stumbled into this restaurant while driving to the other restaurant and found out that one is close. Let's say, of you go to this one, make sure you drive to club house of this exclusive and beautiful golf course. I decided to eat on the patio since it was a nice day, but the inside of the restaurant is also very elegant. The view outside is definitely beautiful with over look the golf course itself. The facility is clean, server is great. The staff made me feel welcome even before I arrived the restaurant. The host helped me to get to the restaurant from outside, then when I walked she immediately recognized and welcome me. The waitress Michelle was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food are great. I had a beer and the waitress also brought me a sample of the other beer to try. I order the lamb dish, potato leak soup, both of those dish were great. Presentation and taste both excess my expectations. The bread were brought out before my dishes came out were on point. I also decided to order the cheesecake as dessert to go and it was good but I think if I was eating at the restaurant I would have a better experience. I would recommend this place to someone wants to get away and just treat yourself to a good food and experiences.

Google
The Whistling Straits Restaurant is a great jewel in the American Club crown. We visited one night of our honeymoon and it was a true treat. The Irish Pub upstairs was a fantastic spot to grab a drink before dinner, with well-made drinks and a nice conversation with the bartender. Dinner was fantastic, with both the Salmon and the Duck Breast being top flight dishes. The sides were amazing as well, especially the risotto and the cauliflower! There continued to be good variation with the special cocktails between the different restaurants, allowing us to try a few more different mixed drinks. The service was top notch and it was a fantastic experience!

Google
Absolutely spectacular golf courses. All of the servers and staff are so nice and professional. I was admiring the pin of a sheep for the Irish Course worn by our server Ellie. Such a sweet and smart girl, full of knowledge. Ellie took off her pin and gave it to me. A gesture that touched my heart ❤️ and will not forget. I highly recommend this hidden treasure in Wisconsin.

Yelp
We had an incredible 10/10 dinner and experience at Whistling Straits Restaurant on their last night of service before closing for the season. For starters, the remote location makes it feel so exclusive, the building is a gorgeous stone and brimming with elegance (like everything associated with the American Club!) We were seated for our reservation right away and offered drinks and ordered appetizers. We started with a scallop dish and salad, followed by a braised duck dish and truffle goat pasta dish. We let the chef decide on choosing/serving our pasta dish and it was AMAZING - the pasta was made in house and honestly it was one of the yummiest dishes I've ever tried! Closed the dinner out with hot toddies which was a great way to kick off the holiday season. We will definitely be going back again!

Yelp
Outstanding choice! Server Ellie was fantastic--her happy smile added to the beautiful scenery & the well-prepared food to make our meal quite memorable. The interior is elegant yet rustic, with a crackling fireplace and crystal stemware; lots to look at & admire. We could see the golf course and Lake Michigan from our table--spectacular!! We will be back!!

Yelp
Great food but very bad service! We went to the Whistling Straits Golf Course for our anniversary and then got dinner after at the restaurant. We got seated right away, and the ambiance is very historic and exquisite. The hostess was very kind and filled our glasses of water. When the server came around, she asked for our drinks order, and to save time, we added our appetizers' order, too. The drinks were 20 minutes late, and there was no explanation as to why it took so long. The appetizers came after that, and the server never asked who the food and drinks were. As the appetizers were dropped off, the server asked for our entrée order and immediately put that in. While we waited for the entrées, the server had no touch points at the table, so we didn't ask if we wanted more drinks or anything else. After 30 minutes of waiting for the entrée where we thought the server abandoned us, we almost left when the hostess came by our table to help us get more water and apologize for the wait. Finally, after a very long wait, the food came out, and the same as the drinks, there was nobody asking if the food was good or why there was a delay. What started as a great round of golf ended as an abysmal dinner that left a bad taste in our mouth. It's really sad that this expensive place had poor service with no apologies.

Yelp
We had lunch here last weekend and, despite some rainy weather, enjoyed a beautiful view, cozy fireside dining, and a great gluten-free sandwich. Having just been in Ireland, we immediately appreciated the Irish countryside castle-like design with beautiful stonework at the entrance. The view of the lake combined with the warm fireplace made the restaurant perfectly cozy and inviting. Our server was nice but not well versed on the menu for people with allergies. It would be nice if the menu was labeled, but as it was, she had to ferry back and forth from the kitchen to check on things for me. It ended up that I couldn't have any of the soups or appetizers, but at least they had gf bread. My club sandwich with veggies and hummus as a side turned out delicious with fresh local bacon and a fabulous aioli. The husband had the soup of the day, a potato leek, and a very crispy fish and chips. He said both were very good. Overall, as long as you're flexible, the place can definitely accommodate a gluten allergy, and the ambiance is picturesque.

Yelp
Loved the citrus shrimp salad here for lunch, light and refreshing! Wonderful view of the golf course from the outdoor patio and very nice service! Would recommend to anyone interested!

Chris L.

Yelp
Had lunch here today. Quite disappointing in both quality of food and the service. Ordered a Cobb Salad and it was chock full of bones in the chicken that tasted so weird it was left on the plate. The hard boiled egg was actually a deviled egg and the yolks were so salty it was left on the plate too. They didn't screw up the avocado or cheese but it is difficult to mess that up. The rest of the salad was ho-hum with a huge mound of over-dressed greens. I was eating with three buddies and no one was impressed with their meals. When the waitress cleared the table she noticed most of my meal remained and asked if I wanted a to-go box. I said no and explained why it was not eaten. No further comment from the staff. She just brought the bill. Will not be returning.

Yelp
Set in a gorgeous location, Whistling Straits restaurant has incredible ambience and makes you feel as if you're visiting the coast of Scotland. We have experienced many delicious lunches and a few dinners here. The food is fresh and very flavorful and coupled with the setting this is a place you must get to!

Yelp
Wow! The views!! The staff was amazing so attentive and personable really friendly. Eva was our amazing server. Their VESA's salad was yummy as were thier scallops and beef tenderloin. The crème brûlée was my absolute favorite. We loved sitting out on the patio watching the golfers come in

Brian P.

Yelp
We went here for both lunch (before golf) and dinner (after golf). At dinner, my friends steak (which was $70) was not good at all. So tough he could not cut it. He asked for a better knife and the server said they were In the process of getting better knives. For a premium place where the golf is over $500, this should never be the answer. Then she never brought over a Good knife and the managers reply when we got her over was less than apologetic. They took the steak off the bill, and the rest of the food was good. Hoping not a recurring issue.

Yelp
Great outdoor terrace dining. The food was spectacular. We shared a charcuterie, wedge salad and filet. That evening there were several large parties so it was a bit loud with cigar smoke. But all in all a wonderful experience.

Yelp
We were passing through town and had to wait a bit before the next place to stay was opened. Our party of four was warmly welcomed. We had a great seat by the window overlooking the spectacular course. I ordered their BLT and my hubby ordered an open-faced tuna melt that came with a side of arugula salad. We loved them both. Would definitely come back. It was chilly in their though, so maybe bring a sweater or buy one in the pro shop. Just sayin......

Yelp
Um...did you know you can dine upstairs and you don't need a reservation? The menu is simple but the atmosphere is something else. It's like Chili's Restaurant prices with golf resort ambiance. Had their Old Fashioned drink. Spot on! Also had turkey BLT. Good portions. Mrs. had their fish and chips and was happy. After we ate we walked outside and watched golfers finish the course at the 18th hole. Could have also just watched from our table but being outside was nice. Got to hear the chatter of the golfing groups having fun. Could've also ate outside off the menu pictured but didn't realize that until afterwards. What a great experience. Definitely recommend trying it!

Yelp
My co-workers and I were treated to lunch here for having a clean audit, and let me tell you-- not one of our party of 6 left disappointed or still hungry! Service was phenomenal and our waitress did a great job making suggestions. Our table shared the artichoke dip (so much flavor) and we pretty much licked our plates clean. The soup de jour was a split pea with ham and bacon on top; absolutely delicious! For my main course I tried the Irish burger with homemade chips, while my coworkers had fish options. Everyone was extremely happy with their lunches. The ambiance is relaxing and the views of the golf course are breath-taking. I'll be back!

Yelp
The location is great on the golf coarse and the room is beautiful with its big wood beams and high ceilings. The light colored wood made it feel more contemporary. The food is equally good and a nice choice of food on the menu. The soup of the day was corn beef and cabbage. It had great flavor and lots of meat and vegetables. An appetizer was lobster cakes, beignets with lobster inside. Very good. 2 of us had the wedge salad which could have had more blue cheese. Our entrees were the park chops, salmon, and stuffed trout. I think the top pick was the pork chop. Big and juicy with an apple cider flavor. Wow! We finished with their sugar free blueberry pie, which was good but more of a tart than a pie. Our server was Kimberly and did a great job of making suggestions!

Yelp
Was a bit chilly near window, but very friendly service from hostess as well as from waitress. Menu was ample and i left full! Got the cheesy cauliflower, filet, salmon and pheasant at our table. We also got the kohler chocolate torte, coffee, foie gras and welsh rarebit for appetizers. Everything was very very delicious. The resort shuttle came very fast and dropped us back off at hotel!

Yelp
Amazing service! Tracey was amazing and very accommodating. The food had amazing flavors and presentation. We enjoyed eating on the patio and the views are amazing. A must see!

Yelp
We had an amazing lunch at the clubhouse at Whistling Straights. The food was great! Our server Kimberly made some excellent recommendations. It was the best lunch we had on the trip. Beautiful dining area, knowledgeable staff, and amazing food. We will be back.

Yelp
I recommend the potato and leek soup and the wedge salad. Both were delicious and extremely filling.

Yelp
Spending the weekend at the American Club. Four of us for dinner on a Saturday evening. An excellent restaurant experience. The dining room is elegant country, warm and cozy. Our server was outstanding: professional, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. And all the food was very good. We had Wisconsin draft beers for our cocktails. We started with their award winning escargot with mushrooms and shrimp cocktail appetizers. We then each had either the potato leek soup or the bibb lettuce wedge salad. The potato leek soup was among the best soups I have ever had. Our entrees included the filet with horseradish mashed potatoes, salmon with rice, shrimp with pasta and scallops with risotto. The chocolate brownies was our choice for dessert. If I ever go back to the American Club I will go again or if I know of anyone going I will definitely recommend this fine restaurant.

Yelp
Just had a superb dinner at The Whistling Straits Restaurant this evening and have to say it is the best! The trout special tonight was amazing, the shrimp was great and the scallops were the best ever! All served With style. Beautiful old world charm in the downstairs inside restaurant with cozy seating, a burning fireplace to take out the chill of a cool early summer evening. It is Wisconsin after all. Upstairs The bar room is another very cozy area with comfy sofa and seating around another burning fireplace and more private seating areas. We chose to eat outdoors tonight as it was a beautiful evening. The outdoor eating area is under a long pergola with vines entwined around giving it a feeling of being in a garden. The setting is off the 18th hole of the golf course along Lake Michigan which provides an awesome view of the lake and rolling hills of the golf course while dining. In the distance an eagle was sitting in a tree. There is a children's menu and gluten friendly menu...only need to ask. Also is wheelchair accessible. All in all a wonderful evening! So happy we tried it for the first time....we will be back.

Yelp
First time here at the Straits Service was outstanding and food quality was very good However I had a $44 ribeye that did not meet expectations as far as quantity and quality In addition the mashed potatoes were at best room temp There weren't many people dining here which probably explains the value of the menu Golf course exceeded expectations but not the pricey restaurant

Yelp
What a cozy dining room, so evocative of an English lord's country lodge. The booths are quite comfy and fitted with a small bolster if you need a bit of extra back support. I happened to have lunch there today. The menu is nicely thought out, featuring several quasi-Scottish club regulars like fish & chips, potato-leek soup, smoked salmon salad -- you get the idea. The bread basket featured 2 house made choices: salty-herby crackers and soda bread baked like a tea bread. Would've provided another star if not for the following: salt crust on the slightly off-tasting salmon (way too much salt), the signature soup arrived tepid and service was a bit off. Ok, it's Monday, the chef is probably off and the kitchen likely got slammed all weekend. They're short a few people, they're tired and they just need a break. I'll probably be back because I'm an optimist when it comes to a mostly from-scratch kitchen like this one. But, cheesh, somebody hide the salt!

Yelp
Love this place. Spinach salad with chicken. Shrimp salad with pineapple and orange. Excellent Zinfandel wine. Overlooking a world class golf course and Lake Michigan.

Yelp
I visited for the first time a few days ago and while food was excellent, the establishment itself was a little outdated. The employee uniforms are very questionable; I'm not sure who made that decision. They're a little off-putting, as in frumpy and makes me feel as though I'm in the 1800s.

Lucia C.

Yelp
My son and new daughter-in-law were recently married on the Championship Outdoor Terrace adjoining the Irish Barn, where the reception was held, and overlooking the Whistling Straits Golf Course. They also reserved the adjoining Championship Locker Room for the afternoon and evening. The dance band, buffet, and hosted bar were in the Irish Barn, along with plenty of dinner seating. A tent with a hard floor and its own bar was also available. It was a five star event from A to Z and I would recommend it highly. It was perfect. The wedding consultant conducted a seamless event; whatever problems may have arisen during the event were invisible to all present, including the bride and groom. The food in particular was incredible. The B/G chose to forego the cake and instead offered an incredible dessert buffet, which many guests complimented. The brides mother had intended to pack the decor after the ceremony, but a word with the crew and a chunk of cash, and I had that problem solved, for which we were grateful. The intimate rehearsal dinner at the Whistling Straits Clubhouse was equally wonderful. Five stars all around.

Yelp
Typical golf restaurant fare. However if you are a golfer, the views are like golfers paradise. Food is decent, service was good, decor/ambiance nice.

Bill S.

Yelp
If you have any appreciation for golf, you need to visit this place just to see the course. We didn't get to play it, but I'm not good enough for, something this challenging. We decided to have a quick lunch in the upstairs pub area. Ate at the bar. Enjoyed good selection of draft beers. I he'd the sliders, and homemade potato chips. My wife had the spicy wings, and homemade chips also. Food was unremarkable. The sliders were good. Our chips, were more on the burnt side. We questioned the server about them, and she told us that's the way they serve them. I didn't argue, but the reason we ordered them is because we some them at another table, and they looked great. (Not burnt like ours.) My wife wasn't impressed with the wings, and didn't finish them. The atmosphere of the place is great. Scenery is beautiful. It was worth the stop, but is suggest trying the restaurant instead.

Julie O.

Yelp
Folks in the Milwaukee area....just drive! Seriously, this has to be one of the best dining experiences in our state! The food is outstanding, service perfect, the restaurant setting is beautiful....it simply doesn't get any better than this! I love Whistling Straits!

Arlyn E.

Yelp
This is a great place for a very relaxing lunch on a Sunday afternoon in the fall. The views are spectacular. The restaurant seating is country-elegant cozy with some very comfy booth seats with pillows. The menu is good and the food spectacular recommend it highly.
