Just back from a 2 night stay in a “ serene and elegant atmosphere, with many travelers appreciating the relaxing ambiance”. Actually, upon turning on the TV, the soothing, calming voice says “close your eyes, imagine…”- to start your promised relaxation and serenity in a SPA- resort, nestled in a wine country.||So everything in their pitch is about a serene and elegant atmosphere, with “…many travelers appreciating the relaxing ambiance “- a calm, upscale, relaxed, spa-like experience, the ONLY 5 star resort in the area! Even the elevator music is some kind of yoga meditation.||Well… now imagine the halls, with running, screaming, stomping groups of young kids. Running up and down the halls. Knocking on room doors. One actually kept knocking to (his room’s door, screaming that he needs to use the washroom!)||The kids actually brought games (board games?), and set up on the floor in the hall- right under my front door. There is ZERO sound-proofing between the front door and the room, btw.||Calling front desk after about half an hour of constant yelling heard from the halls- i was told a duty manager will be up to ask the parents/caregivers involved to keep the kids in the rooms. At that point i assumed these were just noisy neighbors across the hall, whose parents kicked them out to play in the halls..||however, when the “neighbors” got inside- more groups started running and yelling in the halls.||Coming down to the front desk in search of the promised serenity- i was told not much can be done, its only 9pm, and the hotel was booked for a VERY LARGE GROUP - with young kids who went wild. I was told numerous noise complaints were received, the hotel was trying to send security and more duty managers to the floors, but ultimately- the “quiet” time starts at 10pm.||Silly me- I thought quiet time applied to noise inside the rooms (which, btw- I didn’t hear any noise from other ROOMS!)||However, setting up campIN THE HALLS is a bit different . I assumed kids can do whatever they want in their ROOMS- but if i knew guardians would send packs of 5-8 screaming kids per floor into the halls-for hours!- while hotel staff keeps asking them to keep kids inside- perhaps i would ve chosen a different “serene” spa resort? Especially given the price, and the marketing pitch to a specific target audience.||Upon check out today i was informed it was a very large group of MANY MANY kids, that booked most f the wing of the hotel. A conference of some kind. I was told “sorry that your serenity wasn’t to be had”, basically.|So, buyer beware..
