Come here for runs all the time. Shout out to the porta potties throughout the trail, some more permanent and city maintained restrooms would be nice though.

White Rock Lake is honestly one of the most refreshing places in Dallas. The moment you get there, the breeze and open water just take your breath away. Everything feels clean, calm, and peaceful — like the whole lake is giving you a reset. I loved watching the ducks by the water and seeing the little waves roll in with the tide. It’s the kind of spot where you can walk, think, breathe, and just feel lighter. If you need a break from the city or just want a beautiful place to relax, White Rock Lake is perfect. I’ll definitely be back.

I am in an art show at the Bathhouse cultural Center on Whiterock Lake.Its free for the art show and has a balcony that you can sit on facing the lake beautiful scenery, trees,sailboats,ducks.The Lake has walking biking trails, great picnic areas and the Dallas Aboretum is very close by.

A peaceful lake surrounded by a long trail used for walking and cycling. The area is clean and spacious, with frequent bird sightings. Benches and shaded sections add comfort for visitors. Suitable for early morning walks and quiet outdoor time.

I needed a place to get in a run while I was in Dallas for a while, and this place was really awesome!! When I came here, it was a nice sunny day. The lake is big, the trails are wide and clean, plenty of room for walkers, bikers, or runners!! All the restrooms I saw were porta potty's, so there's that. But I didn't go all the way around the lake, I only had time to get in a few miles here. Multiple parking lots around the lake, also some very nice houses here. Looking at the maps that were here, it's over 9 miles around the lake. I will definitely come here to run when I'm in Dallas again!!

Couldn't believe I found this stunning lake and trail. It's a long loop trail around white rock lake which is a breathtaking view when the sun is out. I got here around the early afternoon and strolled around for nearly an hour before deciding to wrap up. The area is clean and people are happy to be here. Definitely perfect for a walk, taking your dog out, riding your bike, or having a picnic along the lake. Residents are lucky to have this here!

White Rock Lake Park ended up being my afternoon office today, spending a few hours near Dreyfuss Club Point overlooking the water. Working from the van here was most pleasant as there was a great on-shore breeze and the temperature was just right for April. Lots of bicyclists going past, many joggers, and me, on my mobile hotspot and pounding away at emails and Zoom calls. I was undisturbed by all and at the end of the work day, I was even able to get a nap in the RV before dinner. The park is free and clean and green. On a busy weekend, parking might be a challenge but on a weekday afternoon, I had plenty of great spots to choose from. [Review 750 of 2024 - 509 in Texas - 21781 overall]

Great walking trail! Very scenic views. Great bird-watching. White Rock Lake is a great place to walk, run, bike-ride, fish, and have a picnic. It's very big so you can spend all day here if you'd like.

One of the prettiest trails in Dallas! Love running here or having a picnic date outside. So serene and many things to watch and observe out in the water always.

Every year for the past 30,artist that make their homes in the neighborhood surrounding White Rock Lake,open their studios to the public.. Always interesting to see who's creating art in Dallas.

Again since I started the Laguna West and Ora dental journey I was impressed when I started back then and I am currently still Impressed with both.Laguna West and Ora Dental and highly recommend both to any and everyone.

There is a lovely ten mile loop trail around White Rock Lake. Whether you come here to cycle, run, or walk, you will find a well paved path with a divider line and nice views of the lake. The place is crowded on weekends and holidays. Plan your arrival for early mornings when you can find good parking, the trails aren't as busy, and the weather isn't as hot. We have been fortunate to find shade parking each time. Lots of people park on the street, but even there you can find the shade of trees. There are park benches and shade trees along the path. You can stop to take a break frequently, if needed. I've noticed a few board walks or piers that hover over the water along the way. There appears to be bathrooms and grilling stations, but I haven't used or looked at those facilities close enough to comment. The public is pretty good about staying to the far right in their lane. Cyclists in a leisurely ride like us, are good about announcing, "on your left" as we approach and pass pedestrians. More intense cyclists tend to ride the regular streets that circle the lake rather than the wide multi-use walking path. The park appears clean and well kept all around the lake despite being well used by the public. I noticed signs inviting everyone to volunteer to help clean up the park once a month, in addition to city signs that encourage everyone to "Pitch-in". My husband and I are trying to schedule a regular weekly ride here for a bit of exercise and fun. So far, we are enjoying it.

With family, friends or alone, White Rock Lake is the perfect place to pass the time! Living on White Rock Lake, my fur babies and I enjoy evening walks around the lake as we enjoy the sights. On any given day, the well kept grounds and natural wind life of White Rock Lake, host picnickers, boaters, bikers, runners, walkers, marriage proposals, photographers, art lovers, relaxers and a roster of other lake lovers. There are several entrances to the lake grounds, including the dog park; good idea to scope out your perfect entrance before arriving. Parking is only an issue during the holidays and special events, but look out for the bikers while taking your stroll, because they share a path with others. Watching sunsets is one of our favorite things . Our friends suggested this lake has Winfrey point which provide good views during sunsets and thought it would be awesome spot to celebrate my gal's birthday. Reached 15mins before the sunset, parked and took a small walk to the bench of our choice and luckily the weather was little cooler compared to Saturday and helped us had a great time. Pros: -------- Awesome Trail for walking/Running/biking Cool spots to watch sunset Good for picnic Free parking 5 mins to Dallas arboretum Cons: ------- Dint find any mobile toilets / restrooms( they might have , not sure)

What's not to like about WRL park? There's something for everyone. Whether you want to stay active and exercise or relax by the lake or have a picnic with family & friends, the park is the right place. Dog lovers will have a great time in the dog park. The hiking / biking trail offers amazing views of the lake. Lots of parking is available at the different areas of the park. Photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and areas for boating make this a popular spot. There are kayak rentals too. One of my favorite spots in Dallas proper for a relaxed evening by the lake. Don't miss WRL if you are visiting Dallas.

White Rock lake is a great place to walk all around the year. A lot of people do biking, me personally like to walk. Nice view, beautiful nature, if you have kayak, perfect place for kayaking. Perfect place any time of year! Place you want come back again and again!!!!

I love this lake. Lots of space for relaxing by a tree to read or have a picnic. It's clean with multiple surrounding parking lots. I believe the trail is about 9miles. It's paved for biking or running. It's not too busy on the weekends. I wouldn't recommend the trail for skating as the pavement is a little uneven. But the views are beautiful and it's peaceful.

With so much happening in our country right now, it's so therapeutic to have a place of serenity, nature, and sunsets. White Rock Lake has always been top 5 things I love about living in Dallas. It carries a sense of nostalgia for me, as I've been coming here with my parents since I was a kid. Came here a couple of weekends ago to reunite with some of our old friends while social distancing. We grilled some burgers and fajitas, threw a football around, took my nephew to catch fireflies, and had the best evening. Texas cotton candy skies always look better over the water.

The lakes have become my friend! Being a Cali native I'm so much a beach lover. I've spent most of my peaceful tranquil vibes near the ocean shores. I've learned to adapt to nature walks and canoeing at the lakes more so now. This lake is spacious room for fishing, jogging, biking, hiking the trails,walking, having a picnic on grass, feeding ducks, and kids playing at park area. Note: If you have dogs they need to be on a leash. I've been several times for my nice jogs and walks. A diverse of people were present at that time. The early afternoon time the weather was just right, at 75 degrees. The time and day was perfect not that many people especially on a Thursday. There are a few areas with parking lots to park your vehicles. The areas appear to be safe. I really enjoyed my time at this lake especially for a good exercise workout, and will return.

Great spot for a weekend picnic or walk. Very clean and green and plenty of space for bikers, runners, and walkers to share the path. Could use a few more trash cans for dog poop around the lake.

My whole family (3 year old included) love White Rock Coffee! Service is always awesome and coffee is consistently great. Don't always love the patrons here but the employees are top notch.

White Rock Lake is such a nice lake to visit. You'll find bike riders, skate borders, picnicking, running, fishing and just plain relaxation on it's banks to name a few including Kyacking which I'm too chicken to try.

Just go. Do it. Bring running shoes or a bike or fishing poles or a kayak or a camera. Try and see all of it.

This lake is beautiful, great 10 mile walk around the lake. The only thing is there is not a bathroom in sight.

My friend just had a baby and her AmStaff is having a difficult time with the new addition so I am helping by taking him our for a few hours a day so he can tire his body and brain. I decided to rediscover White Rock Lake with him and we have not been disappointed. We do about 2 miles each day and see the wildlife, enjoy the trails and absolutely love looking at the lake. There is a bald eagle pair making a family across from the lake and we have seen them in flight and, today saw the baby sitting high atop the nest. What a treat that we have a beautiful lake that is massive that it will literally take months for us to fully explore, ducks, geese, pelicans, bald eagles and who know whatever else. I LOVE nature and Petey and I have thoroughly enjoying every day we spend at the lake. Take some time out of your busy days and take a breath and look at the beauty that surrounds you.

The prettiest part of Dallas. Sunsets here are beautiful and it's fun to walk or bike around the path. It's super close to the Dallas Arboretum which I highly recommend, too!

This lake is my second home. Whether you are a lake person, bird watcher, dog walker,sailboat watcher or just a people watcher, this is a heavenly place to do them. Plenty activities at this lake: marathons, art shows at the cultural center, fishing, playgrounds for children and on and on.

Another favorite spot of mine in Dallas. Only 5 miles or so from the heart of Dallas, White Rock Lake is the ultimate place to connect with nature! Amazing place for a leisurely walk, run, biking, picnic or kayaking on the lake. It's about a 12-mile radius and connects Lakewood from the south to East Dallas and Old Lake Highlands at the north end. Beautiful and large homes circle the lake and it really feels like an escape from the city while located close enough to the city. It's more spread out than Katy Trail and various trails and paths make it very safe during Covid. It's easy to find parking. A nice place for a dog walk and even a great public dog park on the north end of the lake with a separate large and small dog gated areas. Alongside the trail you will see tons of wildlife including turtles, ducks, egrets, owls and even snakes, but fear not, they typically seem to keep to themselves. A majority of bikers take the side streets that run along the trail but also take the running/ pedestrian trail that runs alongside the lake itself. It's the perfect escape and place to take a date for a picnic or to unwind for a run at the end of the day. Enjoy!!

My absolute favorite part of being in Dallas! Eminently beautiful, totally bikeable! I love that you can reach it by trail and all the houses and neighborhoods next to the lake are adorable. Doesn't hurt having the Arboretum right there either! In all honesty, though, I love the lake, I love the people you meet there, and I love that it gives you a space to be outdoors in nature and forget, even for a while, that you live in a big, flat, sprawling metropolis!

White Rock Lake Park is almost 2,000 acres including White Rock Lake, hiking and biking trails, blackland prairie, picnic areas and event spaces. White Rock Lake was formed by damming White Rock Creek. The creek widens to become White Rock Lake. From the spillway the lake empties into the Trinity River. The lake itself covers 1,254 acres. The blackland prairies are a temperate grassland ecoregion extending roughly 300 miles from the Red River along parts of the Texas/Oklahoma border, to San Antonio in the south. Less than 1% of the once vast prairie remains, making it the most-endangered large ecosystem in North America. White Rock Lake Park contains about 250 acres of the original blackland prairie (formerly a dairy farm) in 15 unmarked parcels on the eastern side of the lake. Dallas' nature paradise is located in the eastern part of the city, just off of both Mockingbird Lane on the northern side of the lake, and Garland Road on the eastern part of the lake. There are access points for Automobiles, pedestrians and cyclists from both sides of the lake. Lawther Drive wraps around the western side of the lake, on which sits a beautiful collection of lovely homes. The Dallas Arboretum & Garden occupies an envious location along part of the lake's eastern shoreline (fenced off from the general public as admission is required for the Arboretum, at its main entrance on Garland Road). Separate paid parking for the Arboretum is available in both an enclosed parking garage directly across from the entrance, as well as open-lot parking adjacent to the Arboretum, but still within the fenced grounds. The lake features well-maintained bike/hike/walking/jogging paths/trails. It has a plentiful number of picnic spots (some with tables. There are kayak rentals available and sailing is allowed on the lake. No boats with engines are allowed, and no swimming is allowed. There are also nicely paved roads that run along parts of the eastern and western shoreline and grounds, if you would like to sightsee at a leisurely pace without getting out of the car. There are also some playgrounds for children, as the lake and grounds are perfectly suited for individuals or friends or families. All are welcome, and you will see A wonderful collection of the peoples of Dallas, enjoying this urban jewel. Due to the age of the lake and grounds, the trees are tall and wide, and include oaks, pecan, sweetgum and cottonwood. The flora is lush and plentiful. Depending on the time of year and the time of day, you could see any assortment of wildlife. White Rock Lake Park is home to 33 types of mammals, including squirrels, rabbits, skunks, raccoons, possums, bobcats, red foxes, and minks. There are 54 varieties of reptiles, including rattlesnakes, turtles, lizards, and horned toads. Twenty kinds of amphibians call the park home including salamanders, toads and frogs. There more than 217 species of birds, including swans, pelicans, sea gulls, loons, and all kinds of ducks. Nineteen kinds of fish swim in the waters of White Rock Lake, making it an angler's paradise including bass, crappie, and catfish. Also remember to treat your fellow citizens kindly, by respecting their space, keeping music at a reasonable level and following the guidelines of using the hike and bike paths/trails and any other posted signs or regulations. A number of devoted and gracious people, spend a lot of volunteer hours in helping the park system keep the lake and grounds as clean as possible, so please do your part as well. This was definitely a spot I loved. VERY beautiful trails to enjoy. My friend invited me out to walk this trail/lake with him and his six month old pitbull puppy named Ral. Ralo was more excited to be out than either one of us that's for sure lol. I really would come back to this trail and lake.

The mostly restful and natural setting in the city. Slow down and take in the small but beneficial surroundings. I hope it stays wild always. Hopefully Lawther entry, East of Williamson, off of Garland Rd. Will be open soon. It has been closed too much, too often.

Great path for walking the dog or riding! We sometimes ride all the way from mockingbird station to white rock using the Santa Fe trail. Highly recommend. We have also enjoyed the dog park & kayaking.

Walking, jogging, running and biking. SMU rowing teams seen regularly. Smelling the lake water is rejuvenating most of the time. Plenty of nature's eye candy when you need a quick break or a leisurely walk.

When in high school in the early and mid 80s this was my Hangout. I lived a couple miles away and there was nothing like a beautiful fall day driving around the lake or hanging out late at night doing things I can't really write about. It's a gorgeous lake and a shame that you don't see more boats out. Fortunate are those who can live on White Rock Lake.

Needless to say, the lake is HUGE and I think we've yet to make it around the whole thing. We usually go to the playground near T&P Hill or do a short walk near the Mount Vernon house. Clean, well-paved paths for bikers and pedestrians and plenty of parking everywhere.

Best place to cycle!!! It's clean, safe, new roads and most importantly sexy people. The cleanliness inspires me to exercise more post covid. Join me!

Be it crack of dawn with the light getting a grip on the day, the rose colored sunset with the colorful Dallas skyline taking over or the quiet night with sounds of water lapping at the shore, White Rock Lake is a most amazing place to be. I have no idea how many hundreds of miles I've put around on the trails. I always find it peaceful, inspiring and healthful. I've survived the gnat and baby skeeter swarms, the flood debris, torrential rain storms and the snow/sleet during my walks and runs around the lake. The trails have improved over the years and the City plus volunteers do more than a fabulous job keeping this park special. The wildlife list is impressive and I won't try to list them all. The only ones I'm not fond of, besides the two evil ones I've already mentioned is the occasional water moccasin, skunk or nutria. I'm fond of the coyotes and bobcats as they help keep the rodents away. They never seem to mind my pavement pounding as they catch a bite. A walk and run in the dark is very therapeutic with the orchestra of frogs, crickets, nighthawks and fish splashing. Of course the ducks and geese join in as well. On select nights, you could hear music from the Arboretum sliding over the water. The daytime laughs and giggles of couples and kids almost drown out the infrequent Southwest jets overhead. I love eavesdropping in on the conversations as I move past others on the trail. All seems to help me forget a sore knee or ankle as I plod along. If you are out on the trail as often as me, I bet we've acknowledged each other with a smile, nod or "looking Good!" Security is quietly around and please don't forget to thank the DPD keeping you safe. I don't get out to fish in my boat nearly enough. I will be honest if you keep a secret; when out on the boat being rocked to sleep by the waves, I may not be trying very hard to catch fish. There are pavilions, tables, grills, trees for hammocks, benches, open fields of clover/soft green grass and more than enough places to exhaust your camera batteries and memory. Absolutely come out here for the June Moon, full moons, eclipses, snow storms, the pelicans, and runs. Bring your kids, bring your family, bring your neighbors, bring your smiles and bring your hospitality. There is plenty of this park to share and it welcomes you from early hours to late at night!

Great location for a walk, run or bike ride. Over 9 miles of trails to choose from. The dog park at the north end of the lake is spacious and has a fenced in dog swimming area. The spillway at the south of the lake is fun to see as well. Nice area for some outdoor activities.

White Rock Lake is one of Dallas's little treasures. A great place to spend a pretty day-walking, riding your bike, enjoying nature.

I love walking around the lake. The lake is cool. I do, however, hate now humans dispose of their trash here. Breaks my heart.

Pretty sure this is a lake, not a business lol. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk, run, bike, or picnic. I recommend going on week days when it's less crowded, especially in the fall.

Very beautiful scenery to just watch the sunset, exercise, walk your pet, take a stroll with family and friends, and have a picnic!! It's quite large and the view is romantic. We saw many ppl walking around!

I love this place! You can do so many things here! Walk, run, bike, kayak....the list goes on! Parking can be tricky during busy times of the day, but parking lots are located all around the lake. My favorite activity is to take my kayak out on a nice sunny day and paddle out on the lake. There's definitely something for everyone to do here!

Pretty good park/lake. Wonderful environment. Interesting setting. Shady places to sit. However, I have two complaints. One is not unique to WRL, as I experience most places I walk. Cyclists, please let us pedestrians know when you are a going whiz past us. A simple "Passing left." or "Passing right." (or get a bell) would go a long way to make our walks (or runs) more enjoyable. Many of you did, but not all. To all that did, thank you. Two is the lack of clean restrooms. Yes, there is a proliferation of chemical toilets, aka portable toilets, but I find these rather gross. The one bathroom I did find, on the north east side, was poorly lit and dirty. Not a big deal to for the guys, but I suspect women may be put off. On the plus side, there are plenty of drinking fountains. But do note that some of them require you to hold the button in for several seconds before the water starts to flow. Oh, and if you are on the east side, by Winfrey Point, why not head up Emerald Isle Drive to Garland Rd. Here you will find something hypnotic - Hypnotic Donuts and the Hypnotic Ice Cream & Candy Shop. They are not the same hours, with the donuts shop closing around 2PM. The ice cream shop is open later. I walked about half of the lake, from the top to the bottom (literally) on the east side, but if you walk around the entire lake you log about 9.3 miles. There's still more for me to explore in the area (Botanical Gardens for one), and I hope to be back soon, and maybe walk around the entire lake, or at least the west side. Bottom Line: The DART White Rock Lake Station (on the blue line) is probably the quickest way to get to the lake. It's a nice walk, on a paved trail, about half a mile from station to lake. It's another 3.5 miles to Hypnotic. I ended up riding DART bust #60, on Garland Road, back to Union Station in downtown Dallas. From there I went to SPARK!, but that's another story, and review. Oh, I'm getting reading to upload a picture. Can anyone tell me what this thing is? It looks like it is to detect people on the trail, perhaps after hours?

White Rock Lake is a wonderful place to escape the noises and stresses of the day. A wonderful place to run, bike, roller blade, or walk your dog(s). The water is peaceful and the assortment of birds is seemingly endless! Such a pleasant, safe, and peaceful place to spend an hour or two daily, or just to visit for a couple of hours once a week. We love to bring our dogs out here for some exercise. I try to make a daily trip. There are plenty of spots for a nice peaceful picnic or BBQ. I highly recommend that newcomers to our city be sure to visit this wonderful place early. You don't want to go for years having not known about or taken advantage of this wonderful recreational offering. One of Dallas' brightest amenities.

Wow! Such a beautiful place to come to and do so many things! Well this is a place where you can come solo or with a group of people! I love the 10 mile loop! Everyone is either walking, jogging and cycling at their own pace! The water is beautiful. You can take your boats out there or you can just have a picnic with your friends and family on the grass. If you love dogs, please bring your dogs here. There is an entire park for dogs. Water Park that is! Man it was so cool to see all the dogs jumping in and out of the water! The dogs where just having a grand time! In addition there is a another area where the dogs and just run free!! The running trails are very clean! The one thing that I really like is that the trails are marked off like roads. I love this park! Its a 10 star if you ask me! Love all the security, I felt extremely safe!

Great place to kayak, ride your bike, go for a run, have a picnic, etc. Beautiful large lake in Dallas. I wish I lived a little closer to it and I would come every day. Gorgeous.

What a beautiful place to relax and breathe right in the middle of the city of Dallas!! Every time I visit Dallas, I get a picnic lunch (my favorite bbq dinner with wet wipes) and come to White Rock Lake to relax before moving on to sightseeing, traffic, and shopping. There's always a few people biking and I always wish that I would have a bike. Others are jogging, fishing, and enjoying the view. You can hear the sounds of the waves, watch the birds and see families of ducks paddle around. It is all just a very pleasant place and a nice break in the day. There is plenty of parking everywhere and entrances all around the lake.
