My wife and I had our wedding celebration at White Sands in June this year and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Starting our initial contact and immediately receiving the necessary information, to booking, finetuning of food and drinks with the staff and finally the celebration itself (the food was especially awesome, with several menus to choose from, discussed and agreed upon beforehand with White Sands). Special thanks to Deepak who was our main contact, you can tell he has lots of experience handling weddings.||||I'm highlighting some of these things mentioned above (which I thought should be rather normal) since we unfortunately had several bad experiences with other Hotels, especially those in Zanzibar. Endless back and forth via email and phone, we didn't receive prices and availability, ghosting and whatnot... We had the feeling some of them heard about a beach wedding for the first time and simply didn’t have a clue what to do. And mind you, we didn't have any special requirements: just a nice venue with space for up to 100 guests, tasty food and drinks, and still some managers seemed unwilling or simply unable to respond to these requests. Had we gone to White Sands instead, we’d have saved months of unnecessary frustration. So, if you're looking for a lovely hotel with splendid organization during your wedding celebration at a beach, White Sands might be right for you as well! ||||Another thing, not really related to our wedding but still worth highlighting is the great gym on the first floor. One of the nicest I’ve seen in Dar, probably a solid 100 square meters and all important machines you need, plus free weights. ||||One possible downside to be aware of: as others here already noted, the beach can be full of plastic. This isn’t the fault of the hotel, in fact they’re cleaning the beach on what seems to be a daily basis, but still there’s a lot coming ashore. So it is not really a beach you’d want to go into the ocean to swim in, especially with kids.
