This was my second visit to WSR, with my first being back in 2014 and it was wonderful to return. Since then, the ranch has grown in exciting ways, with a wider range of activities and the convenience of online booking for rides and experiences. The food, already good on my first visit, has only improved, with more variety at dinner and consistently high-quality meals throughout our stay.||I was happy to find the core horse programme largely unchanged, which speaks to the ranch's commitment to what they do well. A lovely surprise was learning that the horse I rode in 2014 is still living happily on the property in retirement. The horses we were assigned this time matched our riding levels perfectly, offering just enough challenge to keep things engaging. Skipper was a steady and rewarding partner for me, while Wrangler kept my husband entertained with his cheeky personality.||One of the highlights was taking part in groundwork and horsemanship lessons with Gabe, whose calm and insightful teaching helped us understand horse behavior and communication on a deeper level. It’s a great addition to the ranch’s offerings and something we highly recommend.||We also tried cattle sorting for the first time, which was a lot of fun under the guidance of the ever-patient and encouraging Emma, who also led several of our trail rides. The activity team; Seth, Myles, Martin, Gwen, and Lewis were all fantastic. Whether it was shooting, axe/knife throwing, or archery, they were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and made every activity enjoyable. They clearly love what they do and genuinely care about ensuring guests have a great time.|A special mention to Diego for his fascinating walk and talk about the native plants and forna of Arizona, his stories and insights were captivating. If you get a chance, don’t miss the Thursday morning “herbal and edible walk.”||Evening entertainment was another strong point. We particularly enjoyed the star party, critter show, and cowboy singer. We were sorry to miss the line dancing but will make sure to catch it on our next visit.||A new addition for us this time was afternoon yoga, led by the excellent Megan. It was the perfect way to unwind and stretch out after long rides. We also loved visiting Sherrie and Ranger in the gift shop, always a cheerful stop, and we never left without a smile.||Mealtimes were made even more enjoyable thanks to the warm and friendly wait staff. The wranglers, especially Terry and Daniel, along with the volunteers, worked tirelessly behind the scenes to care for the horses and make sure everything ran smoothly. The petting zoo was a hit too, especially the pigs, who were delighted to receive treats.||Our room was comfortable and conveniently located near the horse pens, allowing us to greet our equine neighbours with morning treats. The amenities were thoughtful, including air conditioning, makeup wipes, boot cloths, and dark flannels for makeup removal. We didn’t spend much time indoors, but it had everything we needed for restful naps and a good night’s sleep.||All in all, this was a truly special experience. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to WSR!
