I am in love with this campground, and am glad that I took a chance to camp here.
My husband and I were going to camp south of the park, but all the fires hit (there were 2-3 major fires going on and the south end of the park was closed...glacier road, bridalveil creek, mariposa entrance...) so we drove to the tioga road and took our chances.
The turnoff into the campground isn't a long road, and is paved, which is great if you don't have a truck (unlike other campgrounds in the park have choppy, dirt roads.) The way the campground is laid out is this: there are some spots that are very private, and some that are not, about half and half. So, if you get there early, you can snag a more private spot. Also, what's cool about this campground is that is a very alpine-looking campground. There are some campsites that are nestled in alpine trees, others that have the alpine boulders near them, which gives you the option what kind of camp site you are looking for.
The bathrooms in this campground were pretty darn clean for a campground, and they flush. The only thing I have to say is that both set of bathrooms are more on one side of the campground, so if you are on the other side of the campground, you have to walk.
Also, right outside of the campground is the White Wolf Lodge, which is a very small lodge that is quaint. It does not interfere with your camping experience since its outside of the actual campground, so there are no worries. There is also a trailhead for Lukens Lake right outside of the campground, a very easy-moderate hike that just about anyone can do.
