This experience from the beginning was a disaster. The room had not been cleaned and the food at the nearby restraint was stale and served cold. I would not recommend staying here. We had to leave and find a Motel 6 which was much better.

This was our first rental of skis and snowboard White Wolf staff was amazing. My son didn’t know if he wanted to snowboard or skis and the staff was so patient with him as he tried both. We will definitely use them again. The process was smooth and fast. Their equipment was great!

We made online reservations at White Wolf for ski equipment. They looked at my personal skis and suggested a wax which they were able to do on the spot. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and fast! We picked up the night before so super convenient as well! And don’t miss the homemade fudge!

Came to ski here last minute and completely unprepared with a friend of mine. This shop was a life saver. They rent equipment but also jackets and bibs/snow pants. All for a reasonable price. For all equipment jacket and bibs was 49/day. Honestly a life saver considering I showed up with a friend last minute with no gear whatsoever. If you're going to ski NC, make sure to stop here for anything you need. This place is legit and has fair pricing.

We visited on New Years Eve to rent 5 snowboards. Paid over $400 and left. All seemed well but it wasn't. Things quickly went sideways. Apparently, WWL staff misplaced their copy of our receipt so they called 30 minutes later and harassed my minor son who answered the phone. Mike, who later told us it was him who called (although call came from Larry W's phone), opened conversation by calling him a "thief" and said he would call authorities and have all of us arrested for stealing equipment. Multiple members of our group, including my other very young child, heard threats and were alarmed. I got on the phone and said there must be mix-up because we have our copy of the receipt. Mike threatened to call police in 15 minutes if I wasn't back at White Wolf location (we would have had a hard time getting back up mountain in that amount of time). Luckily, I had documentation handy and provided receipt information. The staff, after some muffled communication, finally found documents and staff rudely ended call while I was still trying to speak with them. Our group was quite upset after hearing threats and insults Mike (or perhaps Larry) hurled at our group. The behavior of White Wolf's management is shockingly rude, unprofessional, and incompetent.||||Honestly, I expected then to call me back with serious apology or some sort of olive branch for their treatment of our family. Nope! They didn't call or do anything to correct the situation or make things right. Any competent manager or individual who has ever worked in the service industry knows that you should try to make things right with customers somehow after you've made a mistake or provided bad service. This went beyond any normal conception of BAD. In this case, the staff harassed our family after we paid full price for equipment and hurled threats over the phone at a minor because of WWL's own incompetence with paperwork. Anyone would agree that's a pretty big mistake and a big deal.||||Later returned equipment. One of the male staff members actually physically put his hand on me during discussions of what occurred. Mike arrived in his truck and, instead of admitting he made mistake and apologizing, dishonestly said he spoke to my son kindly and never made any threats or accusations. By this point, however, a female manager from upstairs had already admitted he did (heard by multiple members of our group). And, of course, our group had heard Mike (from Larry's phone) say these things originally. Plus, he had made similar threats to me directly over the phone in the originally conversation. Instead of being honest and providing competent customer service with a family WWL had clearly wronged, Mike said, "You know how we are going to make things right? You are going to leave right now."||||We showed documentation of the receipt for payment to the authorities and evidence of harassing call from Larry W's phone and left. ||||Don't do business with this shockingly rude and incompetent business. After you pay, the managers may harass your family too and then and refuse to admit their mistakes.

Up on business. Stayed in one of the Chalet up on 3rd floor, no elevator so take it easy with the luggage. Room set up was great and very comfortable. Only part of place we got to see this visit. Didn't use restaurant or gift shop but I'd definitely recommend the lodging. Booked over the phone and was given room access code over phone as we would arrive later than planned. Rooms did not disappoint. Mini kitchen had all we needed.

Equipment worked great and good service from all the staff! It was easy to book online ahead of time, and a quick and easy pickup & return. Also very affordable! 10/10!

Google
I highly recommend White Wolf Lodge to everyone traveling to beech mountain. Mike and his employees are amazing people and offered such great see. The equipment is great and the employees were very quick and helpful getting us fitted. The people are so nice and accommodating. The food is great and casual dining. We had 12 people with us and it’s was a great place to get whatever we needed for our ski trip. Even our toddlers loved the food! Mike even pulled our truck out of the snow for us when no other tow trucks would help us. We will definitely be returning to White Wolf Lodge on our next trip up there.

Yelp
The manager is rude and employees. Service is terrible! Food was very small servings and stale chips served in a paper bowl!

Yelp
BAD NEWS/AVOID AT ALL COSTS: Owner/manager Mike or Larry Watren harasses customers and threatens families and minor children with arrest after WWL misplaces their copies of receipts. Don't ignore Brian B's review like I did - BEWARE. Don't trust reviews by "Tricia." She reported herself as the "Business Manager" in earlier Yelp reviews and tried to make fake posting/profile to "offset" honest reviews. White Wolf staff try to post fake reviews about their company. I paid for 5 snowboard rentals, staff misplaced paperwork, and Mike (call came from Larry Watren) called 35 minutes later and opened discussion by calling minor child who answered phone a "thief," harassing him, and threatened to have entire group, including two children, arrested in 15 minutes. I was given phone and he made same threat. I gave him information from receipt payment and then, after staff realized error, staff rudely hung up while I was still trying to speak to give him situation/evidence. Rentals were returned on time. During discussion of incident one older employee from downstairs physically PUT HIS HANDS ON ME. Mike showed up in his big truck and dishonestly denied making false accusations in the phone call (after blonde fudge lady already admitted it had happened in front of 20 people / call also witnessed by multiple members of our group). Plus, it obviously happened because we wouldn't have been offended and angry if they hadn't called to threaten and harass our family. We showed authorities receipts and record of call from Larry Watren's phone and left. Mike WILL lose paperwork, harass and threaten customers, including children, and refuse to admit error (even if other staff does so it's clear he has an complicated relationship with the truth). BTW, Mike is the long faced guy in the red apron in the photo for the business. BTW, younger staff is very kind. I have records of receipts and of harassing phone call

Yelp
On New Years Eve, manager Mike at White Wolf called and harassed my son (a child) by telephone because WWL staff lost paperwork on rentals, loudly calling him "thief" and "felon." He even threatened to call police. He then found receipts that verified we did pay for the rentals. When confronted face to face he denied he said what our whole family heard him say (and his wife agreed he did say!). Instead of being honest, he said to me that he started the phone conversation with, "I'm sorry young man, it appears you may not have paid for the rental". To which, I responded, "Why would I be here asking for an apology if you were so kind on the phone call to my young child who was afraid of being called a thief and felon." This is not the first time the managers have lied and been rude to customers. I read plenty reviews, one from 3 years ago, where the same managers were dishonest and rude, and 11 months ago where the business did not help to remedy a situation that was a fault of their own. All we wanted was an apology for referring to our family, including children, as a thief and felons. It was extremely inappropriate but then to LIE about it rather than say, "yes, we apologize." Afterwards, White Wolf staff Tricia tried to make up fake positive Yelp review to "offset" honest reviews. They literally try to make up fake positive reviews on their own business to fool customers but were caught red handed and reported. Don't trust positive reviews on this business. Then they report and take down honest reviews that are not positive in attempt to keep higher ratings.

Yelp
We dropped into this store on a whim to see what their rental prices were for equipment! Needless to say, we saved between $10-20 per day, per person on rental equipment over the resort without the high deposit. The staff were super kind, knowledgeable, and helpful! The sweet cashier that signs you up for the equipment is amazing! Her whole family works here! The gift shop is cute and we ended up with some souvenirs that were also way cheaper than the resort! The equipment was all in good shape, no smells, helmets looked just about new! Overall, we would recommend many times over versus renting from the resort! They are open long hours for returning gear! They had fudge and BBQ there, but we never ended up trying it. Smelled good though.

Yelp
The only BAD Choice on Beech Mountain. The heavyset woman that owns this place has anger and bad energy. We rented our gear here and purchased things from the store, we bought a pair of ski pants for my daughter and she didn't like them so we asked to return them 20 minutes later. The woman said no returns exchanges only. I thought it was strange since it had been 20 minutes and said we've spent over $500 there already, "can we just return them". i asked The anger in her and her facial expressions were scary, like seeing a monster. She did a 50 percent exchange and a 50 percent refund. I tried to be kind and thankful but her vibe was pure hatred. A day later we came to return our gear after getting off the mountain at 10 pm ( returns are open until 11) we brought in 2 snowboards and skis but had more equipment in the car. She must have seen me on her cameras leave to get the rest of the equipment and decided to lock me outside for 10 minutes. She then acted as if we locked ourselves outside. I was still polite to her because i wanted to leave and be done with this place but WOW it was an unusual experience and she is a scary woman. Her dishonesty and vindictiveness is on a different level. I also feel i need to go through my credit cards to make sure she didn't add additional charges or do something sketchy because everything about her is sketchy. One other thing her restaurant food is really not good. There's tons of places to rent gear. Around the corner is Fred's, and Alpine ski rentals. Fred's also has a store and restaurant and the people are so friendly and helpful there.

Yelp
Great food! Easy set up with order counter, self seating and they bring your order out to you. Good views and cute store with it too!

Yelp
Best BBQ sauce selection I've seen! Sweet and Apple Butter we're my favorite. It's not a huge place but the scenery is beautiful. Great place to stop and eat after catching some slopes. I ate the pulled pork combo with baked beans and cole slaw. Cole slaw was good and the baked beans and BBQ were yummay! Our combo came with a slice a fudge as well. I thought this was a great idea which led to us buying some. Great marketing and fudge!! Inside is a country store as well with T-shirts and more. The ladies that helped us were very nice and food came out fast! This is a great grab and go place and if you want to stay and eat you can. Enjoy!

Yelp
The staff were super friendly and helpful. We saved a lot of time by renting our skis and snowboards here at the lodge. This is our 4th year renting a room for our annual scout ski trip. We brought a large group of 24 scouts and parents and we were comfortable and warm in our chalet. The view off the back deck was awesome! Thanks WWL!!!

Yelp
Great customer service so friendly. Great prices for ski rentals. When you walk in walk to the front and ask for a waiver so you don't have to wait in line for it, fill it out. Then wait in line to get checked out. Get the pulled pork sandwich from the little restaurant inside!!! Sooooo goooood. Also when you go to redeem your equipment hopefully JD is there to help get you suited up and pick out boots. He was the BEST!!! Such a genuine and nice guy and gave great tips for the slopes. Will be back next time I want to ski

Yelp
My family ended up at White Wolf to rent our ski and snowboard gear, after a bad experience with another local rental place. The staff was extremely courteous and they had good prices, cheaper than renting at the resort. Additionally, the BBQ smelled amazing, and I wish we hadn't eaten lunch already. After talking with the owners, we learned they are building out the lodge to house disadvantaged youth and church groups for mountain retreats. Great people, awesome gift shop, great rental location right in Beech Mountain.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff for renting equipment. Fast and easy. Will rent here again on next trip to Beech Mountain.

Yelp
If you're renting gear at Beech this is THE place to do it. The prices are extremely reasonable and it's a family owned business. Do yourself a favor and support this business!

Yelp
Excellent location with a cute store attached to it!! Very cozy and convenient facilities!

Yelp
Great customer service and friendly staff. Do yourself a favor and rent your gear here instead of from Beech Mountain Resort. They take care of their rental skis and snowboards plus ....the rental boots don't stink!! I asked and they explained to me the processes used to dry and sanitize the boots and that's dedication is all I have to say. Sadly, I rented my boots from the resort and they literally smelled up the entire cabin. Had to leave outside; febreze didn't touch it. My friends rented from here and I definitely will be next time! Their fudge is great also ha.

Yelp
This multi-faceted building is run by a Christian family that have invested all that they have into a gift/tee shirt/souvenir shop, lunch counter, fudge shop, ski shop, accommodations center and youth group leadership. The first building you see when entering Beech Mountain, stop and browse and talk with Laura and Larry. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Our church group stayed for ski trip. The boys used the bunk room and it was great. Ski rentals were on site and we were able to leave for the slopes with everything needed. Gift shop and restaurant on site and staff were very friendly. This is our second stay here and we'll definitely be back.

Haley G.

Yelp
The connivence of this lodge and ease of access to the slopes is great. The rooms are extremely spacious for all of our guests we brought on this trip. Great location and friendly staff!

Chris H.

Yelp
The BBQ and all the sides are to die for! Culinary delight! Exceptional atmosphere inside and picturesque view outside. Love the mountain rustic appeal inside the whole place and the fudge was great as well. Worth the hike up Beech and the owners are exceptional people! You will enjoy the entire experience!

Yelp
A friendly, warm atmosphere with delicious bbq and a view! We have always enjoyed visiting Beech Mtn. White Wolf Lodge is a wonderful addition to the community!

Yelp
Great Customer Service all the way around - in the shop, restaurant, and ski rentals ! All their money goes to a great cause and they are really good people there !! They also have delicious fudge and cute souvenirs and t-shirts. I will alway rent from here before I got the slopes at Beech Mountain !

Yelp
We stop in here almost weekly for their pork and burgers. The atmosphere is family style and welcoming. They have an eat in area as well as deck seating overlooking the blue ridge mountains. They offer several hot sides during high season from green beans to Mac and cheese. During low season they offer the sandwiches along side chips, pickle, and homemade fudge. The fudge is great! We always take some to go. The gift shop is nicely appointed and offers ski beech shirts as well as beech mountain apparel, mugs, and cups. They also have wizard of OZ merch. They carry some children's toys, books, and games. So if you are stuck inside during one of the many rain showers you will have a fun activity to do. They also rent an array of outdoor equipment from bikes, to four wheeling adventure vehicles. They now have a climbing tower as well. I'm waiting for them to offer boldering or rock climbing garb seeing as they have the tower. I love that they are always thinking of different things to offer and provide tourists and locals with fun activities.

Yelp
We took a 26 person youth group to White Wolf and stayed in their bunk housing. The rooms were beautiful, the hosts were incredibly friendly, and the views are amazing. I am so grateful for them and their hospitality. We also ate at their restaurant and bought fudge from their shop. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this location for groups and am looking at bringing my wife to stay in their chalets.
