We went on Wednesday night and would have needed reservations if we wanted to sit in the dining room. We sat at the bar and had great service. I had the ny strip pepper steak with sauce and my personal preference would have been they plain ny strip the sauce was a bit sweet. The steak was cooked a perfect medium. I also tried the horseradish pancakes, which I would not recommend. It was a fried potato with little flavor. The whipped potatoes were good. My husband had the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. We also had a side of the truffle Mac and cheese, get this, sooo good! Overall we had a really good meal and would highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for a steak dinner

Nice, rustic, upscale dining. Quality food and drinks. Service was excellent. Food arrives at it's own pace, but we generally go at a peak time, so may have just been busy. Great place for a special event. It is all very high quality, but the pricing is high end too, just know that going in. Reservations recommended. My wife is gluten-free and a large portion of their menu is friendly for this, but you do have to ask. Servers have been informed on the topic.

Google
Whitefish Lake Restaurant is our absolute favorite place to eat in all of Flathead and Lincoln County. The food is amazing, the staff are wonderful, and the atmosphere is a good blend of fine dining, but not too upscale that it feels pretentious or snooty. It's typically the place we go for all special occasions and date nights. I think it speaks to the owners/management that many of the servers have been working there for 10+ years. I know the restaurant also composts its food waste in partnership with Dirt Rich, which I think is highly commendable. I wish every restaurant would take steps to foster greater sustainability. It's nice to have a restaurant owned by locals that care about the community & staff.

Google
Split 5 appetizers between 7 middle-aged men. The Prime Rib was was well-received but I enjoyed a pistachio- themed pork chop dish that was promoted as the evening's special. Service was top-tier. We were content with the wine selection, would have liked to have seen more local craft beers available.

I just absolutely LoVe this place!! I’ve never explored a more well-rounded restaurant than WF Lake Restaurant, whether it’s summer or the crisp winter -their menu is always sensational! I’ve passed through a few times this year & the food is amazing. The waitstaff is so professional and friendly. What makes this place special is that they pride themselves on remembering their guests! I also appreciate their diverse ambience, you can dress up or arrive in ski gear..either way they’re very welcoming. Deeply advise you to try all they have to offer and a huge THANK YOU to the whole staff who bring out their best at every opportunity! 🩵

Google
Food: Prime rib was pretty good but could use more seasoning/char on the outside. It was warm at least. The steak sandwich unfortunately was not good at all. Very bland and overpriced. Service: Server was friendly and nice but was busy and tend to forget about us/refills. Atmosphere: The patio is cute and more spread out. The lights are nice but it is at a golf course. The only complaint.

Google
It was great! The food was fantastic and the service was great. We celebrated my Mom's birthday dinner there. It was old elegance. The fireplace and the wooden ceiling were beautiful and added to the ambiance. There was a casual dining room that needed no reservations and a more fine dining room.

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner experience here! The food and service and atmosphere were outstanding, as usual! Our waitress was friendly and very efficient! A special shoutout to our hostess, she was wonderful and really enjoyed what she was doing. Thank you!

Robert C.

Yelp
Tasty meal and the service was great. We sat at the bar and the two bartenders were attentive. I ordered the bison meatloaf and my wife ordered the salmon. Enjoyed this restaurant on our trip to Glacier National Park.

Yelp
**MAKE A RESERVATION** We went there for dinner and they wouldn't seat us in the dining room because we didn't have a reservation even though the dining room was only half full. We had the pleasure of eating beside the front door.

Yelp
Dinner at Whitefish Lake restaurant. It is my must eat at restrauant when I'm in Whitefish. The restaurant is rich in history with what I would call rustic, mountain style architecture. If you are interested in the rest of the story, go online and check it out. No starters. We all ordered the prime rib. Everyone had Ceasars but me, but I had the house salad with Ranch. The table bread was excellent. The prime rib was very good. The grilled sweet potatoes were excellent. I never tasted the brocoli. The horseradish potato cakes were excellent. Another great dinner at Whitefish Lake Restaurant.

Yelp
Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is "Montana Lodge", log cabin style. This restaurant is part of a public golf resort that consists of two 18 hole courses and this beautiful period specific (1930's) clubhouse style building. I had the Chicken Saltimbocca. All entrees include salad, freshly baked bread, and two sides. The presentation was beautiful, the food was prepared properly, and was very flavorful as this Chef doesn't skimp on the herbs and spices. The wife had the Jerk Spice Crusted Salmon with crispy fried onion frizzles, and stated that it was very good. We both chose the horseradish potato pancakes as one of our sides, and the Chef did not let us down here, very flavorful. We split a house made peppermint ice cream that was pretty good, and I also had a "Coffee Nudge" (called a "Keoke Coffee around our home area) which is made with brandy, Kahlua, coffee and whipped cream. It was a little (literally) disappointing as it was served in a tiny glass that held about 4 or 5 ounces maximum that included liquor, whipped cream, and coffee. Certainly not a generous serving size. Overall, the food was very good and the prices were reasonable for the quality. The service was very good, and the hostess was attentive. There are a few high quality paintings hanging in the dining area that are worth seeing.

Yelp
Service good. Ambiance is excellent. The food was mediocre. Had the fish special with crab. The crab was mostly breading. The sauce over the fish was not very good and probably ruined what was a good piece of fish. Good by the glass wines. Salads were overdressed.

Holly D.

Yelp
Superb food! The steak was like butter. The vegetable sides were to die for. Smoked trout appetizer was delicious. My husband's steak was amazing as well. A+!!

Sara S.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the bread and salad. We came for the prime rib, that was just average. Service was good, except bartender was not the friendliest. He was also drinking while working, which may have been the reason. Two girls were filling waters and bussing tables, they did an absolute phenomenal job!

Mike B.

Yelp
Restaurant came highly recommend and lived up to hype. Folksy, friendly staff in good humor welcomed us. We were early for our reservation but barely had time to get a drink in the bar before being seated in the dining room 20 minutes before our reservation time. Well staffed with seating well managed to make certain resources were not rushed. Tables spaced much further apart than any popular restaurant I've experienced in recent memory. Meals were very tasty and served hot, fresh from the grill. My steak was cooked perfectly as was my wife's walleye. Interesting seasonal vegetable side with a combination of spicy braised carrots, sweet spaghetti squash and fresh steamed broccoli. Spacious log structure provides regional flavor to the dining experience.

Yelp
Make a reservation just incase because it fills up fast, especially around the holidays. My husband and I went here for our first time and it was delicious. Great portions and fresh seafood.

Thomas K.

Yelp
All of the above. Food Service and Ambiance. Great! Everything about Whitefish Lake Restaurant is excellent.

Yelp
Who would have "thunkit", that a restaurant at a golf course could be that good!!!! One of the best places I have been. Just superb food, atmosphere and people. Be patient, service can be a bit slow, but gives you more time to enjoy your drink, appetizers, etc.

Brittany K.

Yelp
This place has left me with some mixed opinions. I was eager to dine here due to the glowing reviews and scenic outdoor backdrop. Given the location and fact that we are here during a holiday, we decided that we should call and ask if a reservation was required. The staff member who answered the phone told us that they could accommodate us at the bar or deck area but not in the dining room. That was completely fine by us as we were looking to dine outside anyhow! We gave our name and looked forward to coming. Fast forward to arrival. We explained that we had called a short while prior and that a table would be available for us. Well we were led to the dining room. We were surprised but figured that perhaps something opened up or became available. When a server came out, we had expected menus but instead received a scolding for taking a table that wasn't reserved for us! We were so confused. We explained that we were seated there when in reality we had just hoped for an outdoor table. The waitress told us to go ask the hostess outside for a table and that dining room reservations were to be made months in advance. Like okay, we never even asked about the dang dining room? So we step onto the patio where THREE employees are standing engrossed in conversation. I made eye contact and was clearly there expecting to be helped. The three women continued their conversation despite one nudging the hostess to take care of us. When she FINALLY decided to be helpful, she said she couldn't seat us outdoors because the kitchen was closing... IN AN HOUR! Yes she said that the kitchen was going to close in an hour. It's not like we showed up 5 minutes before closing. It was 8pm on a holiday weekend. We finally wound up at a table in the bar area. At this point we are just hungry and ready to eat. We ended up with Martin as a server and let me say that he is the only redeeming employee that we encountered here. Very friendly and provided great service. As for food I ordered the caprese salmon and added a side of truffle Mac. The salmon was just slightly over cooked which did dry it out a bit. The balsamic dressing was tasty though. The side salad served with it looked like it came straight out of a prepackaged grocery store bag. It wasn't bad but I expected something a bit more eye appealing here. And finally I will give credit where credit is due... the truffle Mac and cheese was stellar. Fragrant with all that great truffle flavor. Final thought? Great atmosphere. Slightly above average food. The setting is what drives people in I'd say.

Yelp
After enjoying Montana's plentiful hiking, I needed a hot, real meal. I booked the reservations for two maybe a month before going but I don't think you needed to book that far out. This restaurant is part of the golf club. It's old school, about 90 years old, has all the classic lodge feelings you'd expect. We were seated almost on time. We did order some classic drinks inside at the restaurant bar but there was only one bartender it seemed and he was a bit flustered. Nonetheless our drinks were perfect and chilled just right. Mine, a dirty vodka martini. We decided to both get the surf & turf. What I really liked was they have a "smaller portions" part of the menu. I like to just eat 2-3 ounces of steak if I order it and this fit that bill. I think they are four ounce filets. The shrimp, one per order, was plump and generous in size. You can pick a side (try the potato horseradish cakes) and the meal is accompanied by small portions of veggies. Really hit the spot. Seemed like the place to go for celebrations, too, by what I witnessed! Grab a night cap at the bar outside. In the summer, it's light out even as 10 pm approaches so can enjoy for awhile!

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated our 46th Anniversary at Whitefish Lake Restaurant. I looked on Yelp and since it had good reviews I thought this would be a perfect place to go. I like rustic places so this was perfect. It has a very nice patio overlooking the golf course. We decided to share our dinner because we like having dessert. We had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer which was good. We split the filet mignon which was very good, very tender. We also split the baked potato and a few vegetables and the amount was perfect. We split their crème brûlée for dessert, they added a sparkler in it Make sure you make reservations.

Yelp
Great food and excellent service from Kaylee. Really enjoyed the experience. Great burger

Yelp
Ate here for the first time after snowboarding for the day. They serve you hot bread and butter to start. We ordered a few appetizers. We got the smoked trout, mushrooms and escargot. The sauce that came with the smoked trout was kinda spicy and kinda tasted like a thousand island dressing with horseradish. I wasn't a fan. The escargot were covered with a ton a cheese which was too much. The mushrooms were flavorful and buttery. For my entree I upgraded to the beet salad and got the jumbo shrimp with truffle Mac and cheese which was delicious and cheesy. My friend got prime rib and another friend got the rib eye which were both cooked perfectly. The servers all wore masks but the bartenders did not. The tables were also socially distanced. Two stars for the Service bc getting our food was super slow. 3 stars for The appetizers. 4 star for the main entrees.

Yelp
Our favorite special occasion restaurant in the valley. Elegant food in a rustic setting with superior service

Yelp
Outstanding anniversary dinner! Staff are happy to be there, the food was delectable!!

Stephanie W.

Yelp
One of the best restaurant! Small & quiet yet beautiful restaurant in downtown Whitefish. It was our first dinner there when we visited. The waiter was very patience with us and communicate clearly to make sure we got the right orders. I wish i took pictures but that night i was so tired from long flight. We had Jerk Spice Crusted Salmon in small courses section. Soo good and rich flavors! Worth of our money!

David W.

Yelp
The wait staff were friendly and gave us great service. The prices were reasonable and the food was really good.

Logan W.

Yelp
Excellent staff very well mannered. Food was also fantastic. Will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Lobster Tail . I didn't say price...but it IS worth it ! . It also comes as Surf AND Turf !

Yelp
Chose to make a reservation for our party of 6 a couple months before arriving in Whitefish for our 8 day stay on 6/30. Food was AMAZING & service was fine dining at its best ! Seated at 5:30 when the main dining room opens - all 6 of us chose different entrees and we had such a fabulous experience. (Including our 2 young granddaughters under age 5) Additionally on 7/4 Sunday we called in a carry out order of a couple of cheeseburgers during the lunch hour which also worked out perfectly and were very yummy.

Bob W.

Yelp
We had a fantastic meal on a Friday afternoon interrupted not at all but a brief rainshower. The trout appetizer was to die for, the salads were crisp and tasty and the steaks were out of this world. The servers were very friendly and helpful and efficient. Fantastic scenery too.

Scott M.

Yelp
" Becca" reservation dinner for 8. We are from Texas and enjoy a well prepared steak. We we're not disappointed Service was excellent, Food hit the spot, Atmosphere was nice and quiet. Friendly warm at home ambience. Highly recommend, we will be returning! Thank You Sandy and the whole team! Scott M

Yelp
Rude service and frozen food. Server was very honest about what kind of food they serve. Not going back.

Yelp
Came here for lunch - if you want dinner, reserve well in advance. My wife had the Poke Bowl and it was very good - I had the soup and it was quite good. For lunch you don't get the big dining room - lunch is in the bar or outside (weather permitting). Only downside were the flies - annoying! The service was friendly and prompt. The lunch menu is limited but what we had was very good.

Yelp
Quite a few locations in Whitefish this fall had comfortable seating for outdoor dining, but the setup here at this local golf course was the most pleasant surprise. The patio of tables arranged to accompany the outdoor bar in more normal times, now supported by the kitchen that would normally supply the fine dining establishment inside. And, likely because the design is so capable of serve groups of golf enthusiasts their refreshments on the go, it also turned out to be and incredibly friendly spot to pull up a chair and a drink and a view of the greenery while waiting. The food, far better than the local golf clubs in my town, that is for sure. The "Steak Sandwich" really a well chosen, seasoned, and perfectly grilled cut of Sirloin, sliced and presented on crunchy Texas Toast. The "Meatloaf" is a blend of coarse ground Montana Bison and Standing Heart Ranch Waygu steak. Yeah, that was as good as it sounds. Match in a few nice drinks, and a cool late day breeze, not hard to take. A+, Thanks for Having Us!

Yelp
I'm giving a 10+star rating!!! We were in town for a family wedding. We were scheduled at another steakhouse in Whitefish and had to change at the last minute because the size of party had increased. The Whitefish Lake Restaurant was VERY accommodating for last minute and on a Saturday evening. And was able to serve our large party. The restaurant scenery is very Montanan and the service was incredible (I'm sad I don't have the waitress name). She didn't miss a beat the whole night as she waited on 17 people and with a smile. And the food!!! From the prime rib to the barbecue ribs to the chicken to the vegetarian plate!! Not one of the items was a disappointment!! We were not rushed and they made sure we had we needed. So, thank you Vicky for making the reservation happen, to our waitress who was very patient with us and to the chef who provided an AWESOME meal!!! Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in town:)

Kamee C.

Yelp
We loved dinner at Whitefish Lake Restaurant! The service was outstanding! Our food was delicious and the ambiance was hard to beat on a cold winter evening! The beautiful fireplace was tended with regularity and made it feel so cozy. It was just a perfect dining experience!!

Nicky A.

Yelp
Horrendous service. Been waiting for a table for ONE HOUR and the waiter says "I don't know how much longer" when he first said 40 min. Inside feels very very stuffy and cluster-phobic and full of old people. Just horrible experience. Especially if you are visiting Montana.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Terrible service and food was not worth the price. We waited for almost 20 minutes before the waiter came to our table and when they finally did they acted like we hadn't waited at all. Disappointed. I also order an alcoholic beverage that was so terrible I only took a few sips.

Shane S.

Yelp
I took my wife here for her birthday, and the staff went out of there way to make it special! We were sat next to a nice fire. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the drinks were amazing!

Levin Z.

Yelp
Very good prime rib. Juicy and tasty. The service is good too. The price is right. I would recommend it.

Cristina D.

Yelp
Good drinks and an excellent view. Sit on the deck and enjoy the boats coming in and out.

Bethany W.

Yelp
This is located on a golf course and it is fine dining food, but without the stuffy atmosphere. It's like being at a high end cabin. The staff was incredibly friendly. The food was AMAZING. Portions were plentiful. The huckleberry Moscow mule was suggested by our server when I asked for just a regular Moscow mule, and I'm so glad she did. It was just the hit of sweetness I needed to cut the rich appetizers and meal we selected. If you want a nice dinner out one night, book a reservation here and get ready to loosen your belt! We had the escargot and bruschetta to start and both were impressive. The truffle mac and cheese as a side is a must! The main courses were all melt in your mouth delicious. Our server was so helpful, and everyone was so welcoming!

Jj R.

Yelp
Terrible value. Steak lacked flavor, but the fries were over seasoned to the point they were simply awful. Back home where I'm from half the price of the ribeye here gets me the same oz steak, a side salad and fries. And every aspect of the meal back home is twice as good as here. Slow service for drinks. There's nothing remotely redeeming about this restaurant.

Marius K.

Yelp
Waited an hour for the outside table Horrible service allowing people sit with one glass of wine for 2h while there is a whole line of people waiting to order food Stay away from this place if it's summer and you are passing by By the way inside feels very old so patio was out choice What a giant disappointment If you guys have bees then instal bee traps it's hard to eat :) Chicken and fish were very good and timely served

Monica V.

Yelp
Omg excellent food ALL OF IT!! we sat outside and the vibe was perfect....the service was great and the food amaaaaazing. Rib eye, filet mignon and oooooh the truffle mac and cheese.

Melissa L.

Yelp
I come here annually during my summer trips to Montana. The service is always superb and the prime rib is the best! Kelly was so wonderful tonight - timing was consistent throughout the meal and the commitment to a great dining experience is evident by the staff's efforts. I visited twice this week and while both times were wonderful, the dinner dining experience is just stellar! See you again in 2023!

Chad W.

Yelp
Best place in town. A bit old fashion, but the good, service, bar and wine list are all top shelf. Prime ribs is awesome as is the Shrimp Cocktail. Love this place. We always choose here for anniversary or birthdays.

Alysha T.

Yelp
I can only speak to the bar side of this restaurant as that is where we were seated. Website says they open at 5pm, but when you arrive the restaurant side is not open and food is not served until 530pm. We were not offered a table on the restaurant side (which looked much nicer, brighter and better decorated with a crackling fireplace). We had one glass of mediocre cab which was a little overpriced given the location and left. There was a sign indicating that they are renovating and the food menu we were shown was much smaller than what I had seen online. It does not currently have a vegetarian entree, which was another reason we didn't stay for dinner.

Kara J.

Yelp
Delicious upscale lodge restaurant! Cozy feel, fun atmosphere, excellent service and staff! Food was outstanding.. everything we had was delicious, special shout out for the Duck, Jerk Salmon, Mussels, Escargot, and Huckleberry Martini. Extensive wine list! Everyone was so accommodating to our large party! Special thanks to Doug, the long time owner, for his above and beyond hospitality!!!

Frankie B.

Yelp
The service was awful and the food was gross. I ordered the salmon spinach. It was absolutely disgusting. When I tried to tell my waitress about it her response was, "we'll lots of people love it." The salmon is a 3.5oz piece of fish on top of oily spinach with two different dressing used for sushi. The spinach also had some sort of mushroom in it. It was so many different flavors that just didn't go together. Some people may like it, but I did not. There are also three different spaces for dinner and it's confusing on where you check in. The bathroom also had a living room couch in it. It's was very bizarre. Not worth what I paid for. Didn't even finish my wine, because I just wanted to leave.

K A.

Yelp
We went here for our "wedding dinner". The host was extremely welcoming and upbeat. Our server was great.. quick yet personable. The food was delicious. We had bruschetta for an app, shrimp pasta and steak for a meal and some really good ice-cream type cake for dessert. Ambiance is also a great plus to this place! Highly recommended!!

Samantha B.

Yelp
Stopped by here after Glacier National Park.. unfortunately it is not stated on their website anywhere they not only have a limited menu (assuming due to covid) but they have an even more limited menu from lunch to dinner. Fries were great, Caesar salad and sliders were just ok. Service was also mediocre. Had high hopes from their website and reviews but disappointed.

Tim M.

Yelp
The food is incredible. I made reservations for my family of 4 while visiting, I made a huge error and booked for the wrong day. When we went to check in, they didn't have any record of my reservation. The hostess was absolutely fantastic and was able to accommodate and get us seated. Their wine selection was fantastic and entire staff was wonderful! My entire family said this was their favorite meals they've ever had. There wasn't a crumb left on anyones plate.

Dino Ferraro F.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant. Old school. Kind of experience you cannot wait to go back. I am a chef and own 2 restaurants in Huntington Beach Ca, appreciate good food and great service. Thank you for keeping the great dining experience alive. Dino Ferraro Capone's Italian Cucina The black trumpet tapas Huntington Beach

Yelp
The food here is absolutely fabulous!! They served our large group with no delay. Nice waitress. The drinks were off though. One person sent theirs back but later I found out others also did not like their cocktails.
