Very solid, old school, donut shop. You walk in and immediately flashback to your childhood visiting a donut shop. It's a simple store and the regulars are hanging out having breakfast. The fritters and coffee rolls are literally the size of your head. You could cut one in half and still think "this is still big". They were also very crunchy (in a good way). The price of everything is very cheap too. I thought the iced coffee was a little burnt, but it still got the job done. It's surprisingly busy even at early hours of the day, but the service is fast and the people are nice. Worth a try if you're in the area

Locals absolutely swarm this place, and I am officially joining the fan club! Quick, incredibly friendly service. The food is absolutely phenomenal, but we need to talk about the donuts... they are a spiritual experience. My only regret is not wearing my sweatpants so I could eat six more.

Always great food whenever I come here. Today I thought they closed at 3, but they actually close at 2 and even though it was just two minutes before closing, they went above and beyond by making two sandwiches for us. They even turned the toaster back on, which we truly appreciated. Such kindness and amazing service. I hope they have a wonderful holiday!

First time in person here! I've thought their donuts which are delicious! I was extremely impressed by the attentive customer service. They get so much foot traffic and to keep their smile on their face is so impressive. Will certainly make this a new staple!

We love Whitney Donut! We have been devout customers for at least 4-5 years. We enjoy their freshly made sandwiches, salads, donut options, bagels and soups. We love it all. The atmosphere is always welcoming. Order and pick up for quicker service. However, there is a drive up option as well. They are a wonderful business in the town of Hamden! Stop by!

This was my first time here, amazing sandwiches, good donuts. Got the Italian and a chocolate coconut donut both were phenomenal. The Italian came with oil and vinegar, perfectly shredded lettuce, tomato and onion. Will be back for sure.

OK. If you’re a Texas boy traveling through these parts and you need a good sausage egg sandwich. This is the best place in town! Problem is it’s hard to understand these people. I don’t think it’s just this donut shop. I think it’s all these people up here. Me being from Texas it sure is hard to understand them. They sure are friendly though I can see why this is the top rated donut shop in North Haven, Connecticut. Y’all come on in here and get you some!

However my boyfriend tried the chicken sausage egg and cheese for the first time ever and he was just not a fan at all. We would definitely come back for sure though! We did eat inside they have some tables and a counter with some stools. The staff were nice. Overall would totally recommend!

A treasure! My family and I have been coming here for decades. We've raised our daughters on these donuts and bagels, and I don't think I've ever been disappointed. Their service is excellent. Everyone's working very hard and the quality of their food and coffee is wonderful. I've traveled the world, but this is one of my favorite places ever. A real gem!

We love Whitney Donut. We will continue to go. Please note that after discussions we found out that all donuts contain milk powder so if there is a dairy allergy be aware. There was so mixed information (which we thankfully caught before bringing them home to our family member with a serious dairy allergy). The sandwiches, staff, donut, coffee, etc. are all very very good. They are definitely a staple in the area!

After seeing Whitney Donut on a best donut in CT list, I recently visited for the first time. Before I even walked in, I had a picture of Whitney's massive popularity when I saw cars hovering to take opening spots, a person-line out the front door and a car-line stretching around 3 sides of the building. There are a few tables inside, but most people got takeout. I noted that the Whitney donut box included the slogan "Where Friends and Family Like to Meet", and I did in fact see a few such meetings. So good for them. In any event, the inside vibe is old school. We ordered a 1/2 dozen donuts and a couple of bagel sandwiches. My Taylor Ham, Grilled Egg and American on an Everything Bagel was very good. The texture of the bagel was right on, although the topping did not have much everything. The donuts are classic style. I tried part of a chocolate and plain twist cruller and a maple bacon donut. Both were fresh and had good texture. I especially liked the sweet and salty contrast on the bacon and maple. Whitney is a cool and very good classic donut shop. It's must visit if you're the the type of person who likes to hit all the best CT donut shops. Five Stars

I cannot even express how thrilled I am to have found this spectacular little family owned donut and sandwich shop. By far the best tasting donuts ever and the variety is out of this world. The sandwiches and salads are well beyond fresh and satisfying and the prices are so remarkably affordable. The staff here is so friendly and the drive thru option is such an asset when in a hurry to grab your favorite sandwich, soup, salad, donut or coffee. I cannot say enough about this establishment except that everything about it is spectacular!!! Many thanks to the owners and the staff for a superb job of baking, cooking, serving and providing the tastiest food and desserts anyone could ever ask for! Five stars to this incredible establishment and to the food, prices, staff and service overall.

No wait at drive thru I ordered right away but it took 15 minutes then I got my order and when I got home it was not my order. I ordered egg ham and cheese on a bagel and got sausage and egg on a roll. They should repeat your order when giving it to you. I called and told them and they said sorry I said next time ill go elsewhere and they they said fine no way to do business I won't go back coffee is terrible also

Whitney Donut never ceases to amaze us. It was mid afternoon and my friend needed her coffee fix. The place was jamming and take out orders were flying out the front door. Even the drive-through window was backed up to Whitney Avenue. I agreed to split a chocolate cruller which was delicious. Even more tempting was watching the sandwich maker with the skill, patience, and professionalism of an artist designing a real masterpiece. I will definitely keep it in mind for future reference when we want a phenomenal sandwich.The variety of sandwiches as you can see from the menu are very tempting.

I am Addicted to this sandwich shop... fabulous soups, great salads and delicious sandwiches!! Their daily specials are difficult to choose from... I adore their roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberry...eggplant...pastrami with grilled onions... cheeseburgers... meatloaf!!! Very hard to choose...often need to buy a couple I haven't had many donuts, but you need to try the lemon chocolate- who needs a whole pie when you can have this donut! Unbelievable!!! The staff is courteous and efficient... DO NOT miss an opportunity to stop here!

Just passing thru, I needed a coffee-bathroom break and came across this cute little doughnut shop. I ordered a coconut doughnut, it wasn't sweet? It tasted like a doughnut made with sadness. Coffee was good and my doughnut just was. Peace out!

So this place is a little gold mine. Does a great business with a mass of loyal local customers. Inside it's dated and a bit dirty. Very limited seating. Food is ordinary and reminds me of something that would come out of an average family's kitchen. I ordered a simple egg sandwich on rye toast with a large coffee and the bill was $8.16!!! Are you kidding me??? Way overpriced for what I got!!

The food has been so delicious!! I've tried many sandwiches, salads and soups - everything has been great! And the people are all very nice, helpful and accommodating! They are all pleasant ! I often stop there and pick up food for my mom too! She has also enjoyed the specials and soups !

Everything is great here. From breakfast thru lunch. Their lunch specials are always amazing and bountiful. So much to eat. The service is great. I use the drive thru the most and always treated with respect. Been coming here for years until I moved south to Carolina. Now that I'm back. They haven't missed a beat. The prices of most things are very reasonable because of the amount of food you get and the size of their donuts, bagels and muffins. All made fresh daily. My favorite is the pumpernickel bagels. Always crunchy with soft centers.

I have bought donuts in bulk and sandwiches from here for years. I enjoyed them so much I started buying 8-10 dozen weekly for work. I would call earlier in the week and try to place the order out or respect (bc it was a huge order) and to make sure the order could be filled. Initially I tried to call and place the order, but got hung up on when I said it was for later in the week. It was "call back later" and a hang up. I thought it was a one off, so I would call later. This happened every week for about 5 weeks. It was "call back" and click. I tried different days at different times. Finally, I asked to speak to a manager who apologized and took my order. I asked if there was a better way to place the order. I was not given an alternate way. Eventually, I called one day when I was pushed for time and the same thing happened. I took my business elsewhere. I did send an email and got a response back from the owner "I need time explain a few things to you" At that point, it was just too late. The food is great and I like the coffee, but truly abysmal customer service. I understand being busy, but sheesh, I was order 150 plus orders. Two stars because of food quality- but customer service is not great here.

Today I wanted a good donut, and a good cup of coffee for breakfast. Their are only two places I would go for that and Whitney Donut is one of those places. Their premium donuts don't compare to supermarket, and donut chain donuts. Always fresh and packed with filling.They also have bagels, salads, and sandwiches.

I love Whitney Donut for several reasons. They have amazing soups sandwiches daily . Their eggplant parmigiana is usually Fri and Mon it's delicious and I'm very picky . Their spanakopita is very good they have very good salads . Tuna chicken salad and roast beef sandwiches are also great along with the thanksgiving sandwich ... The rolls and bread always fresh . Muffins donuts apple fritters. You simply can't beat the food the service and the prices . To many great qualities to count . Easy order and pick up . Enjoy Chris M

Local donut shop with a wide variety of donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and coffees I got both a blueberry and a buttermilk donut and they were both very tasty I also got a hot cinnamon bun coffee, but it was not nearly as good. They have a small variety of flavored coffee, both hot & iced, and although this is very tempting I might just stick to the food next time A few tables, but what really stood out was their booming drive-through buisness 8

I'm always pretty impressed by how quickly we get our food despite long lines. The bacon, egg and cheese is perfection. The staff that works there are always friendly and kind, even when you can tell they are overwhelmed. The donuts are always fresh - we like to try something new each time we go in and we're never disappointed. The parking lot can be difficult to navigate on a busy day but it's worth it.

Everything is super fresh! You truly will never be disappointed neighborhood staple always busy better to call ahead definitely a game changer.

We love Whitney!! The Donuts and coffee are great! Staff is super friendly. Just make sure you get there before noon on the weekends or you'll be stuck with plain or jelly. Overall, highly recommend!

They have the best Apple fritter! Their butternut doughnut is so different. I think they have the best regular doughnuts (non filled) in the area. The honey chocolate is also so different. The chocolate toasted coconut is like an almond joy flavor. I go here every single time I go to Quinnipiac.

I can see why Whitney Donut is so popular. Yet another local business we should support. It literally hurts me to see the neighboring Dunkin have a line of cars reaching to the road when just a few storefronts over you can get superior coffee, donuts, sandwiches and support a local business. I'm just ashamed I hadn't been here sooner. Weekends are definitely busy however I've still been in and out in a decent amount of time. They have a convenient drive thru if your order isn't too large or time consuming. Their donuts are fairly priced, decent size and fresh. The bagels are just okay, I've had better, but not awful. They have several coffee flavors available, hot or cold. If they were located between my home and work I'd definitely be a morning regular here.

Dropped my daughter off in New Haven and had to kill time. Spotted a shop with donut in the name so it was a no brainer. Bonus: they serve food and pretty good iced coffee. Went with the grilled chicken BLT wrap and it was delicious. Bringing home a box of donuts so I'll update afterwards. Staff was friendly and had a great sense of humor.

One of the best places to have lunch or just one for the selection of Donuts mine is the Chocolate Lemon/Apple Spice so get a Bakers Dozen which is 13 Donuts and the BLT is a great sandwich with their Chicken Noodle Soup make sure you get a bowl. Great Atmosphere. My Friend retired but we got Donuts for Sunday School everyone loves them. Keep up the good work!! Dangerously good Breakfast Sandwiches!!!

if you're craving homemade donuts, incredible cinnamon rolls, warm bagels or good coffee stop here! The drive-through line is always super long so if you can park, do so. Inside the shop is super cute so I always prefer walking in anyway.

Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing, as well as their donuts and bagels! I haven't tried anything for lunch yet from Whitney donut but I'm looking forward to it.

A LOCAL FAVORITE Whitney Donut is a one stop shop for anyone in the area who loves donuts, coffee and a quick lunch! My usual order at Whitney Donut is a cinnamon bun iced coffee and a dozen donuts. Chef's ! On the weekends it tends to be busy so I recommend going during the week or very early on the weekends. And if going inside isn't your thing they have a drive through for those on the go!

Everything my family has gotten from here has been amazing! All the donuts and pastries. Our faves are the apple fritter, maple bacon donut and glazed donut. They really are a must try. Service is always excellent, friendly and fast. The drive thru line is always so long but I've never had to wait too long when I go into the store. The drive through line was very long, but only 2-3 patrons in line inside around 10:30AM on a Saturday. Pros: -Inexpensive -Drive through -Picnic tables outside in the summer -Restrooms Cons: -$5 credit card minimum -- $3.21 for 3 donuts Chocolate Cake Glazed chocolate cake was the best donut here. It was a bit crumbly, but decent. Boston Cream Chocolate frosted donut filled with Bavarian cream. Generously filled--possibly too much so! The filling was standard vanilla pudding that was a little "off-puddingly" (I'll stop now) yellow when compared to the other Boston Creams we tried that day from Neil's and the Rolling Doughnut. Plain Glaze Plain glazed yeast donut was OK, but the donut wasn't fully glazed so it was a bit bland. The dough was light and fluffy but I think I'd opt for Neil's over this given that they are more generous with the glaze.

EVERYTHING here is phenomenal. The volume proves it. Do not leave without trying their donuts and muffins. Quality food and service, and the owners are world class people. Keep up the great work WD!

I have lived in CT most if my life. I have to say there is always something to discover here. I stumbled upon this place because I thought I was pulling into a Dunkin. I truly was not paying attention. So.. thank goodness I decided to stay. There are soo many different varieties and we ordered a half dozen of wonderfulness. If you are the light hearted regarding calories, uhm this may not be the connection you are looking for so swipe right or is it left? Whichever it is no skimping on the taste or richness, here. Stop by, you won't be disappointed, I promise. Sooo... the parking is a little tight and the drive thru is, let's say "cozy" but it serves the purpose. It is a bit pricey but what isn't these days. At least you get to experience "wonderfulness" for your money. Stop back and let me know what you think?

$10.50 a dozen for good donuts is the best deal around. Also love when staff share their favorites with me and tell me how to order. Architecture of the buildings surrounding are iconic like Rainbow Cleaners. Buttermilk was a pleasant unique flavor. Love all the toasted crunchy flavors

Moving out of CT, and whitney donut will be the place I'll always miss!! Every weekend I would get a plain bagel with taylor ham, egg and cheese. It was the best. Their donuts are pretty good too but I solely would go for that breakfast sandwich.

One of the best donut spots in CT. We drove up after hearing some great things about their donuts and we were not disappointed. Breakfast sandwiches were good, but the donuts were the star of the show. Absolutely worth a trip!

The service is fast and the workers check to make sure you've been helped! The coffee is delish, but I'm glad I got no sugar because it's sweet! Pumpernickel bagel was SO good, just wish it had more cream cheese on it! Will definitely go back again soon!

This spot is legendary for super quick service and some of the best donuts around!! The apple fritter is truly the size of a small baby and soo soft, fluffy, and ever so slightly crisp on the edges. It is perfection. COVID spacing/ handling was good despite being very busy. Breakfast sammies came out in literal seconds after ordering. Not too far off the highway to pop in on road trips! Highly recommend

Loveee their donuts and decaf hazelnut coffee! Currently pregnant and this place hits the spot lol. Tons of donut options you won't know what to choose. I usually end up grabbing extra to take home to the hubby. Blueberry filled is such a winner, so is their jelly and cream filled. Always looking to try new ones when I come in but i always get my usual go-tos. They also have a drive thru which is super convenient. Sometimes quicker to just go inside vs wait in the drive thru if you're in a rush. I hear lunch is great just haven't gotten around to trying it yet

This is a donut review - I haven't tried a sandwich here. They're the best donuts I've had - especially in the classic styles like Boston Cream, glazed, chocolate and so on - anywhere. If you love classic donuts like that, go to Whitney Donut, right now, or as soon as you can. The staff is also really really efficient, but still really nice - they will take your order and have you out the door in about .7 seconds. There is a drive-through; haven't tried it. There's plenty of parking. Everything is clean. It is a solid establishment.
