An absolute gem! I stopped here purely because I needed to use the bathroom (and fine, I'll admit that I didn't NOT need to get some coffee and a scone) and.I was nearby, and as luck would have it I stumbled upon this amazing place.
The coffee and scone were delicious, of course, but the atmosphere was what makes this place stand out. In these disturbing and terrifying times being in a space so clearly devoted to fighting injustice, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and all of the other forms of hated that are spreading like wildfire locally, statewide, nationally, and globally is a breath of fresh air.
As a white, male-presenting US citizen I know that the most I have to worry about (at least for now...) is being "accidentally" detained temporarily. But my husband and most of my friends are refugees from Venezuela facing an unknown but certainly awful future and it often feels like no one else in this country thinks of them as fully human and deserving of the same basic human rights, opportunities, and ability to live with their families without fear or starvation. And of course the situation is the same for people from countries all over the world, usually as a direct result of the actions of the US.
Anyway I'm getting off track, as usual. A+, 20/20, 100%. Great coffee, great baked goods, and lovingly tended plants. If you're in the area, or even if you're not, definitely stop by. I promise you won't regret it.
