I just can’t fault anything about this place, the staff are so accommodating, the rooms are beautifully designed with a minimalist touch. The location is great, it’s quiet, beds are so comfy & great facilities throughout. Lots of nice little touches everywhere, a fabulous cafe, chill areas. It’s hip & trendy without trying hard

We originally booked for one night but extended to four nights due to Storm Amy. Our top-floor apartment was comfortable and fairly well laid out; we especially found the bed comfy and the bathroom large and modern (a problem with the shower was soon fixed). Self-catering was possible and there was a small supermarket directly opposite. This was just as well, because the hotel's breakfast offering was quite limited and not particularly good value (purchased separately); indeed, we thought the restaurant seemed very expensive and went elsewhere to eat in the evenings. The room rate also seemed expensive, but was comparable with the rate we recently paid in Edinburgh. The best thing about Whitworth Locke was undoubtedly its location. Right in the middle of Manchester, overlooking the Rochdale Canal, and within walking distance of the Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road stations. We would certainly book again, for this reason.

The best hotel/apartment complex I have stayed in. The small apartments were well appointed, very comfortable, clean, and very well priced. The staff were outstanding - friendly, very helpful, and made a big difference to my stay which had started badly with lost luggage on my airline travel. Would definitely stay here again if in Manchester. Highly recommended.

Wonderful rooms and location in this beautifully redeveloped historic building. But sadly let down by their reception and restaurant staff. I was left waiting whilst the 3 staff on reception seemed to be so relaxed about actually doing their role. Then in the morning their relaxed attitude continued when I asked why the breakfast restaurant was closed. It took 20 minutes to get a clear answer that there was no staff, so it wouldn’t be opening.

The property is in a central location but this in itself creates significant noise, both from the road outside and the music from Shal Lows. Our room clearly had pipes running through for other rooms plumbing meaning that every time someone had a shower, flushed the toilet, washed their hands, etc, the water could be heard running through the pipes in our bedroom. Consequently we got almost no sleep, which isn't great in a £206 per night room. We complained to reception but the hotel was full so we couldn't be moved. Whilst the drinks vouchers we were given were appreciated, they are not a suitable resolution to the issue

Our experience was fantastic! The hotel offers a spacious and well-designed environment, with dedicated areas for drinks, coffee, and even working. The on-site restaurant is excellent, especially the breakfast options. Luke welcomed us warmly and was incredibly friendly and helpful, giving us great recommendations for places to visit.

I’d read a lot of good things about Whitworth Locke and I can see why people rate it highly. The lobby is beautiful, the service was great from the moment we arrived (shout our Freddie for being particularly great), and Winsome restaurant is genuinely fantastic. Those parts really set the tone and made me excited for the stay. When we got into the apartment though, it just didn’t quite live up to that first impression. The space was generous and the décor was nice in style, but it felt a little tired with marks on the sofa, some chipped paint, and a bedroom that was much darker and dingier than I’d have hoped. The bed and especially the pillows weren’t very comfortable, which made it hard to get a good night’s sleep. Being on the corner that faces Gay Village also meant it was very loud until late at night; luckily I had earplugs, but without them it would have been tough. For me, the apartment sat in an awkward place between a hotel and an apart-hotel. It didn’t have that crisp, clean, fresh feel you want from a hotel, but it also lacked the cosy, homely comfort of a proper apartment. In the end, it felt like what you were paying for was the size of the space rather than the quality of the stay. I really wanted to love it, and there are definitely parts of the experience that were great, but overall it just wasn't quite the stay we hoped for.

Very convenient room like service apartment. Nice decoration. There are hairdryer, iron, fan, cooking stuff, kettle, microwave and fridge. But no shower cap and sanitary bag and the light is too dim. The staffs are nice and helpful.
