They have great service that takes the time to go above and beyond. My wife is hard to fit in hiking shoes, the gentleman in the shoe department spent near 45 minutes with her until she found what she liked, and he was upbeat and helpful the whole time. Salesman was rude when I asked for a women’s 11 telling me I should just buy men’s shoes and scoffed when I said no I wanted women’s shoes in women’s colors. Specifically I was looking at a $90 pair of pink sandals.

this is a great store and i love the items they sell. however, i have shopped here at least 5 times in the last year and their selection in size small is terrible. i mentioned it to a staff member and they agreed. but it does not seem that this has changed since then. i do not recommend shopping here if you wear smaller sizes. i will likely not come back.

BEST STORE EVER!! I recently was traveling with my children (4 and 7) and got stuck in Houston for 2 days without our bags. This store was walking distance from the hotel the airport put us up in. They had everything our family needed, a new pair of shoes, underpants, and a bathing suit. I was submitting my receipts for reimbursement from the airline and realized I had lost the receipt in the travel chaos. I gave the store a call and the quickly found my receipt and emailed it to me.

You would think with this business name that they would be down to earth and inclusive. No they're not. Came here looking for hiking shoes and I needed advice. There were a handful of workers in that department and they all made sure to ignore me. One girl was standing around right next to me with nothing to do and she still made a point to turn her back to me. Another one took a diverted glance at me and instead offered assistance to people who have already been helped. Not a single person even acknowledged me the entire time I was there. The shoe selection was very small anyhow but I had hoped to get advice. I went to Sun and Ski 5 minutes away and instantly got helpful great advice and the right shoes immediately. So unless you feel you fit into Whole Earth Provisions' distinct targeted demographic then don't come here expecting service or even friendliness. Apparently they only provision partial earth.

This store is awesome! I love everything in this store. I always leave buying way more than I intend to. They have everything from kids toys for every age to cute gifts and kitchen gadgets. They also have a ton of close and shoes for outdoor activities as well as sleeping bags and coolers. I always make a stop here when I'm in the area!

I walked in to Whole Earth with a packing list for an upcoming backpacking trip and had no idea where to start. Monica and Brooke were incredibly helpful, informative, and patient! I am so thankful for both of them! I left the store feeling more prepared for the trip than I did when I walked in. I highly recommend the store and the two women!

In need of new management. Visiting family and came to shop and hadn't been in for a while. No greeting...okay, guess everyone's busy. Go for a T-shirt, disorganized, folded in 5 different ways, I finally gave up and just settled for any Large I found next. Don't even bother with the shoes. If they would let me, I'd go find my own and ask for an employee discount. Even check out was frustrating because prices must be by best guess because the prices don't match the tagged prices!! How can a place I used to love be left to rot?

WOW!!! Alex did an outstanding job. He was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the foot ware. I was not greeted at the door the female employee was actually on the phone and cell phone. She did not acknowledge me at all. I waited at the counter on her and had to find someone else to assist. We spent almost $200 and Alex made it highly worth it. The initial individual made my business not feel welcome at all, I began to walk out. But thank you Alex, I am happy this company has you as an Associate. Great visit, I will return and inform others of Alex's great standards.

I have a serious problem with this store. It's just too good and it's really damaging on my wallet if I step in there just to browse. This being said I mostly go when I really need something particular like outdoor wear or a comfortable pair of shoes. Today I was glad to find a great scarf and since scarfs aren't a big deal in Houston- I was having a hard time finding a warm one every other place that I looked. Lastly, the 5th star is for their service and incredibly friendly checkout team. Thanks for your consistency. I really do not know what I would do without this store and their other location.

I really like this store, so much that I can't stand it. And this location - compared to the River Oaks location - is bigger in size and selection, as far as outerwear, toys, equipment, travel gadgets and other weird gizmos. If you're looking for a thoughtful gift, be it a stocking stuffer or full-on-prezzie, you'll find something at WEPC. I LOVE their photography, travel and cookbooks geared toward Texan culture. And the children's books by Bob Marley and Bob Dylan? Stop it! I love it. I'm planning a winter trip in the coming months, and I need to stock up on thermals and other wintry gear, and Whole Earth is where I'll probably buy most of it. Other items you'll love: bird feeders, cards, yoga gear, camping stuff, toys made from 100% recycled plastic, science stuff (astronomy, dinosaurs, experiments)... Grab your gift list and check it out. And buy a little something for yourself.

This place reminds me of the Manhattan toy and book stores for kids--Mom and Pop feel but so well curated that it is hard to mess up a gift purchase here if you know ANYTHING about the kid you are buying for at all. The best kids books and toys make up about a 5th of the store and all of that is better than a huge Toys 'R Us (I feel overwhelmed with all the options there and the kids running amok. They also had a GREAT Eagle Creek/travel gear selection. I did not venture beyond that but I am sure everything else is awesome because I can see that their buyer really tries to get it right. I will definitely be back.

I love the location, selection, friendly people. Clothes, outdoor stuff, kids things...Think of REI meets Whole Foods and VOILA you're there! (just no food!) They have the biggest selection of gorgeous wind chimes I've seen in TX, too They have a great shoe clearance section - got a great work shoe that was 50% off regular price, but another 10% off because it was the last pair. Good place to let the kids roam around and may to find an unusual gift!

love this place. this is a novelty store to put it best. they have toys, books, gadgets, camping equipment, hiking stuff and active wear. there is also a lot of odds and ends. it's a great place to walk around and find stuff you don't need. i typically come here when trying to purchase a gift for someone whom i have no idea what to get them or where to start. i would recommend anyone looking for a gift for someone to come here.

I originally thought this store was only for hikers or hipster store by the name and display once. I thought I was going to walk in a sporting good store or a Whole Foods but more "organic" and natural items around. I have to say, this store is like a hidden treasure. It has all unique gift ideas from clothes, toy, jewelry, and cute novelty item gifts. Besides that the staff is always on point. They acknowledge, helpful and informative. But not intrusive and let you walk around and discover what you find there. Been coming here for years, so far so good.

Who: me buying gifts for others & myself When: end of summer sale (July) Where: Galleria area What: Tom's! Why: While I like the Montrose location, this place has a great selection and regular sales. For example, there are always shoe sales throughout the year. (Sometimes Tom's go as low as ~$30, I recommend going during sale time, for ex: late July.) I've bought quality products on sale here (Timbuktu bag, Chacos) and at full price (cards, journals, fancy water bottles). I highly recommend this place for buying others and yourself outdoorsy supplies and quirky gifts.

L O V E this place! I wish I had this store back home. I can stay in here for hours. Cool selection of clothes, books, jewelry, shoes.. outdoor gear you name it! Definitely will return when I'm in town

Easy parking and shopping with large selection. Knowledgeable and kool people, very helpful. Living downtown, the post oak location is further than shepherd locale, but post oak has more inventory because store is bigger.

When I first walked into the new Whole Earth, I was a little overwhelmed by the strong smell of strip mall. I think it was that new shop/building material/chemically scent...not something you expect to smell in a "natural" store. Once I adjusted to the smell, I was in Whole Earth heaven. It was fully stocked with awesomeness. I love Whole Earth's clothes. I think they have a little more to stock in this area, but they did have all of the basics. My favorites are the Patagonia outerwear and underwear. They also have a wall of Smart Wool socks. I highly recommend investing in a pair. They're made from super soft merino wool, so they DO NOT ITCH, and have padding at the bottom (think Thor-Lo socks). I have a pair and wear them in cold weather climates. They keep my tootsies toasty and can be washed out in a sink at night. They have a pretty spacious gift shop and kid's toy area. Fun, educational toys and really neat stuffed animals. One of my favorite sections in any Whole Earth is their book sections. This one surpasses any I've ever seen in one of their stores. I'll just list the sections: kid's fun, kid's educational, humor, travel, cook books, wild west, design/home, fiction, and nature. Here's some of the eclectic subject matter: The Grownup's Guide to Running Away from Home. Travel guide to Bad Lands (not The Badlands National Park, but bad places for inhabitants of the US to travel like: Somalia, Cuba, and Sri Lanka). Black Velvet Masterpieces (General Garcia would be proud-see the original The In-Laws for further reference). Build Your Own Tree House. One section that looks to still need stocking is the shoe department. Well, I say shoe department and I really just mean: the Reef flip flip area. I suppose as it gets closer to summer, this area will fill up.

Good store. Lots of staff talking to each other about work... hours.. experiences with training. I hear one staff member say how she was annoyed that no one wants help and she really is bored. She asked if she can help me, along with several other people who worked there. That part is ok. It was just the fact that I overhear them talking about selling stuff that annoyed me. I ended up getting some good advice on boots and overall it was an ok experience. I think there is always at least a few staff members who are knowledgable.

Went to the store once but I was amazed with so many different and interesting things there! Bought about 3 pairs of cute shirts! I really want to be back soon!

WEP has something for the entire family, including the dogs! It is one of the few stores to which our sons gladly go, which always makes it easier to shop. They hit up the toy section, while we browse the rest of the store. Aside from items for our family (clothes, shoes, etc.), WEP has great unique gift ideas for all occasions. A bit on the pricey side, but always happy to pay a little extra for quality and their incredible selection (which permits one stop shopping!)... not to mention happy, content kids!

This in my mind is a hippie place. It's all outdoorsy stuff made for hiking fishing camping you name it. When you walk in you just get that cool vibe. They have a huge selection of shoes clothes and different supplies. I recently purchased a pair of birkenstocks and chacos. The reason I gave this place 5 stars is because I absolutely loved and appreciated the customer service. You are greeted when you walk in and the girls by the shoe section were very helpful in helping me choose the right style and fit. She was also extremely knowledgeable about the product as well. You can even wear your new shoes out of the store and just hand the new shoebox with your old shoes to the cashier and they'll scan it.

This store has just about everything unique and crafty. I particularly enjoyed their children's book section. Lots of baby's books that are sensory oriented. They are on the pricey side but it's quality.

I LOVE THIS DARN PLACE!!! they have organic products, even their teddy bears are chem safe. safe enough for babies to chew on. :) perfect place to pick up a gift. they have clothes, cute stuff that are perfect for camping, backpacks, etc. you have to check out the table of fun goodies filled with interesting random books, kitchen accessories and lots of other fun fun.. even funny stuff. check it!

So just left there and it's by far one of the coolest outdoor stores I've been in. First timer, but I got myself the Salomon Ellipse GTX W shoes. They are super sweet and waterproof. The people working there were super nice and helpful too. I am not a decision maker but Linda was really patient even after I tried on a different pair of Salomon's and still couldn't decide because of the feel and color. Then she was even going to do a special report to see if they could get the color I wanted. It was just a great experience with so many cool things to look at and wish I had a million bucks to buy all of it.

Whole Earth is a pretty cool place! One thing that I've noticed that's different from the Shepherd store is the fact that this place has a gopro section where you can get some sweet accessories for your gopro if you have one. Other than that the store is mostly the same as the other one (it's probably bigger too). You can find lots of great gear for some outdoor adventures and the staff are always great to work with. If you don't find what you're looking for, they can try to find it for you at the other store and have them hold if for you if it's in stock - so don't hesitate to ask for help if you are looking for something in particular!

I really enjoy this store. They have a very wide selection of goods available here, everything from toys and books to climbing gear and jewelry. I typically come here because my kids really like all of the educational and science-based toys that they stock, so it gives them something to do while I geek out on climbing gear and the footwear. They always have amazing sales on footwear, I have found numerous pairs of great shoes here for less than 50% of normal retail (deep discounts on last year's models, I guess). I have also purchased very high quality luggage from them for work, as I travel a good deal all over the world and needed high quality luggage with a good warranty. If you like outdoor stores, then I think you will definitely enjoy this store. They stock a lot of the top manufacturers of outdoor gear and apparel such as North Face, Patagonia, Mountain Khakis, and Prana, along with many more. Their climbing area is small but well stocked with essentials...the only thing they are lacking is a good selection of climbing shoes. If you are looking for running shoes or sandals or flip-flops or walking shoes / hiking shoes they have you covered in spades. The staff here is always very friendly and uber-helpful, so don't be afraid to ask for help finding something or if you have a question about any of the items they carry. I have found them to be pretty knowledgeable for the most part concerning the gear they carry. The book section is also always an interesting place to browse, as they have quite an eclectic collection. Whole Earth Provisions is a great place to get your outdoor gear fix and you can feel good about buying here because it is a Texas-owned store...buying local makes you feel like you are helping to support the local economy and helping to grow the outdoor community here in Houston, so that is a pretty special thing.

This place made me feel like I had stepped into some shop from the SF Bay Area. There's all kinds of neat things. Kids will love it because the first thing they will see is a huge stuffed animal display, representing most of the continents' animals. Relaxed, upscale hippies will enjoy the organic, hand-made clothing. Traveler and outdoorsy types can appreciate the selection of decent travel wares and shoes. Pier 1 / World Market lovers will appreciate their ethnic housewares. Seriously, there's something here for everyone who's not a buttoned-up, cookie cutter type. There's even a Lebowski-inspired book display at the shoe section. What's not to love?

This is a nice alternative to REI and similar outdoor gear and apparel stores, and there are several brands check out. They have the usual brands such as Patagonia, Eagle Creek, and Marmot, as well as special weekly sales available. In the center of the store, there is a large display of books and small knick-knacks that I could spend half an hour browsing, but my favorite was looking at items usually sold online and harder to find in stores (such as Yeti). A great store for your travel and outdoor adventure needs and in a convenient location near DSW, The Container Store, Jamba Juice, and Starbucks.

This store has a great selection of shoes, clothing, and items for travel and outdoor adventure. I like that it is not too large and overwhelming. We shop here a few times a year, usually when prepping for an outdoor vacation. Their sales staff are knowledgable of their inventory and happy to help.

One of my favorite places shop in Houston! If you're bored one afternoon and are sick of going to the mall, go here! They have the most awesome collection of toys, outdoor stuff, books, shoes, clothing, etc. Staff is great. And as everyone else has mentioned, check out the shoe section. There's often clearance shoes for REALLY cheap.

My daughter was looking for a winter coat and wanted advice. A friendly young woman spent a lot of time with her discussing the various options, pointing out features, analyzing fit, and looking up other options online. She pointed out that the parka my daughter was originally interested in was actually not waterproof, and helped her find one that would resist the snow better and that she actually preferred. (I want to add that if we hadn't wanted help the staff would have left us alone. They are not aggressive or pestery, just helpful if needed.) This is a great store for gifts, too (adults and kids). Fun and different books, toys, and random stuff -- good for browsing.

No effing way. Walked in and was looking to purchase a folding knife and a higher end flashlight. After waiting around the knife display for several minutes looking at a salesperson (who was more intent on explaining the intricacies of a GoPro cam to a guy who seemed to be an idiot) I was finally helped by a salesman who just walked up. The salesman did ok and he seemed to know his products. I was replacing a valuable folding knife that was lost during my vehicle being towed and the store did have a decent selection fo which I picked a Benchmade folder and a Fenix 960 flashlight. So why the single star? 1. The knife that I purchased was $50-55 MORE than I would paid for it on the Internet. 2. The flashlight, although fairly priced , did not come with a battery and the salesman either forget or didn't care to tell me about this. I discovered when I got home that I needed to purchase CR123 batteries to power the light and it's not as if those are sold in many places ( Thanks Lowes!) 3. When I discovered how much I had overpaid, I called the store the first thing the next morning. THEY DON'T DO THAT. The attitude given off by the twit who answered the phone (and who apparently hates her job) made me ask another question which was what was their return policy. She then informed me (three times in case I apparently did not get it) that the items would have to be returned in an unused condition. 4. The next day (a Monday) I sent the store an email about the service I received and my concerns that I would make a 40 mile trip to their store simply to be told that the items I had purchased and was trying to return would be rejected arbitrarily and for them to provide me with an explanation of their exact return policy. Never heard back from them and it's been a month since I purchased the items. The items worked (even if they were vastly overpriced) which is the ONLY reason that I didn't return them. However, not only has Whole Earth lost me as a customer for good, if anybody asks me about, I'd tell them not to bother as the store is overpriced and has sh*tless customer service. I would rather drive to an REI in another city than ever shop there. And I'm not a big fan of REI. I would also strongly advise that anyone seeking to shop at this store carefully review their purchase with online retailers and considered if they really want to pay a ridiculous markup for the same thing or less.

I came here a couple weekends ago and had a great shopping experience. I was searching for some Toms and in no time had two employees ask me if they could help me with anything. The day I went shopping, the air conditioning unit was broken and it was a tad "stuffy" inside the store, but the employees were cheerful nonetheless. I ended up choosing a pair of Toms that weren't available in my size at this store and the employees had no problem calling the store on Shepherd for me. They even offered to have it shipped to the Post Oak location for free if I didn't want to drive out to the Shepherd location. Since I wanted a new pair of Toms right away (I "needed" them), I thanked them for their customer service and decided on another pair of Toms that was in my size. I'd definitely come back to this location to shop! They were very accommodating.

Conveniently located in the Galleria, this location is perfect for all your outdoor needs! They are knowledgable AND friendly! They are always more than willing to assist you and they go beyond their call of duty. Their sales are better than the River Oaks location! It's also strategically located to Jamba Juice! Love this place!

I love Whole Earth! I could spend all day reading through there books alone! When you add on the fact that they have a great shoe selection that is often on clearance, it's a no brainer. I come here every chance I get.

Don't go there in the evenings on a motorcycle! I came here on a motorcycle and the parking lot security guard immediately followed me around in a car while I was looking for a place to park. When I pulled up to read the sign "Take Out Only" he immediately asked me to leave and not park there. I guess he assumed that being on a motorcycle, I cannot have take out. But I was just reading the sign and the fine print underneath since the sign was not there before. I then went to another parking space where I was told by the security officer that 4 motorcycles have to park in one space. The lot was 1/3 empty and there were many spaces around. I was also told that I could not back in and must pull into the space. During all this, some guy even came out and told me he was the owner of the property and that if I don't like the rules, I can leave. I was fed up by this time and just left. I think the property owner just do not want business from anyone that rides a motorcycle. I often visit this business along with other shops and restaurants on this property but will unfortunately take my business elsewhere because of this incident.

Amazing selection and amazing customer service! This store and Daniel, the store manager, go above and beyond. I recently bought a USB hub that didn't work. I called the store and they said they would send me another one or refund me my money. Unfortunately, I don't live in the area so I couldn't bring it in. No problem! They refunded me the money (and also looked into the problem with the manufacturer) all without coming into the store. The manager was exceptionally nice and helpful. I couldn't have had a better customer service experience.

They have some really amazing and interesting merchandise. That being said, they are ridiculously expensive. I know the whole premise of the store, but that's exactly why people shop elsewhere.

I'm a guy so as you can probably expect, I don't really enjoy shopping. Yet this place really does it for me.They have everything I want. Camping equipment, fishing tools, outdoorsy clothes and shoes. Fun little knick knacks and my wife and kids love this place too. I can't really think of another store like it, so they get points in my book for being unique too

I didn't really know what to expect yesterday when I walked into this store. I have never been to a whole earth before but I knew I could get some shoes for my problematic feet. Justin helped me out in the shoe department since I was clueless . he is the most knowledgeable (and best looking ;) shoe expert I've ever met. I felt like he really had a grasp on how to fix the problem wasn't just trying to sell me shoes. he spent a lot of time with me going over exercises and solutions and seemed to be very passionate about what he does. I think this says a lot about a company when the employees are that kind caring and helpful . The rest of the store was beautiful with a large selection of clothing and books. I only wish I could have spent more time in there. I will definitely have to back. my only regret is that my new shoes will probably last forever and I won't have a good reason to talk with Justin.

JASON is the man to go to for any backpacking questions you may have! He took his time and quickly explain the pros and cons between a bag i was set on purchasing, he def opened my eyes to those pros and cons. I opted for his suggestion (spray far point 70), i was in and out with 15 minutes!
