Yelp
This is my neighborhood Whole Foods so I come here often. Normally, I have a decent shopping experience: I find most items I'm looking for and I usually get treated respectfully. Not today. I had a poor experience shopping for produce and topped off my experience with a rude, argumentative cashier who treated me with contempt.
Organic lettuces were not stocked, particularly romaine and green leaf lettuce. I got the last romaine lettuce head. Also, there was no organic zucchini stocked. No one was in produce at the time so I could not ask anyone to check for more.
Then, at the register, the cashier was impolite and inattentive at the start of the experience and outright rude by the end. When I noticed she rung up an item for 70% more than the signage in the store advertised, I let her know before she finished ranging up all of the the items. She argued with me about the price. I told her I would check myself. Sure enough, I was right. She didn't believe me so I told her to go check. With an impatient and angsty tone she told me she was going to ring up my other items first. She finished, then went to look for the item. She came back with the label and told me the label rung up the wrong price even though the price that was on the label is the price I expected to pay. Rather than charge me for the price on the label she argued with me and told me the item is no longer selling at the price on the label. What did she expect me to do??? Who would argue with a customer when the customer is correctly quoting the advertised price? I told her to get a manager. She walked over to the supervisor at the stand near the plants and elevator. The woman told her to give it to me for the price on the label. She did it begrudgingly and argued more as she rung it up. Her stubbornness and pride was unbelievable. Rather than letting that be the end of it, she handed me my receipt and said have a nice day in a hushed reluctant tone. Then loudly said, "Next!" I went to the supervisor, Susan and immediately complained. The supervisor let me know that she would talk to the cashier and told me what the cashier should have done. I appreciate someone who works their actually agreeing with me.
This is second or third time I've had a rude cashier at this Whole Foods. If I'm going to be treated rudely, I'll gladly spend my money at the Whole Foods near my job, or better yet, go back to shopping at Pete's Fresh Market, even if I have to drive farther than I'd prefer. This Whole Foods needs to retrain cashiers on customer service and pay attention to the stock in the produce section.
