Quality has slipped drastically since the AMAZON (AZ for short) takeover. Even before Covid, items that previously would be always available were no longer daily in stock like the 365-brand Wild CaUght Frozen Salmon Filets I love, for instance..
Even the paper bag quality became very shoddy. B4 the takeover,( I've been shopping WhF for nearly a decade now), the WhF bags could be used and recycled. Customers earned small monetary rewards for reusing the WhF bags during visits. Once Amazon purchased the chain, however, even double bagging does not prevent a complete bag tear which has happened to me repeatedly. I watch my high-priced groceries spill to the ground. Sadly, some members of the newly hired personnel are much less cordial and professional probably due to dissatisfaction with the AZ management policies. (I think we have another Walmart situation in which tending to profits outranks the treatment of paid workers.) Some WhF outlets have fared a little better than others though. The Columbia, MD WhF, for instance, did not take as deep a downturn. Even during the current Covid situation, Columbia maintained a higher level of management, product availability, and qualitative customer service than some other locales. I still shop WhF, perhaps out of habit, definitely to purchase certain items only found at WhF, and in part, due to years of associating with some of the best cashiers and clerks known to Man. I wish Amazon would rethink and rework its strategies. Whole Foods wasn't broken before the AZ takeover, but now so many aspects of this once great chain really need fixing! Check yourself, AZ! Trader Joe's quality has not dipped, so you will lose even more customers if you don't do better - much better! Return the WhF chain to its former glory! It's not called "Azz-WholeFoods" now is it?!
