This was actually my first time ever being in a Whole Foods, believe it or not! And the hype is real and I get it now. Whole Foods is so nice and stands way out from your traditional grocery store. There’s so much here; and so much FRESH stuff. The bakery section was mesmerizing- not to mention the build-your-own salad bar, there’s fresh baked pizzas, and the sushi is what I went for. It was so so good I almost went in to buy another roll. I also liked that there’s outside seating at this location so if you get food you can enjoy it out in the fresh air.

Beautiful produce. Fresh meat market. The cheese section...amazing and so are the employees! The store is pristine clean. Shelves are well stocked and self checkout super easy. PS don't forget Amazon Prime for your discount!

We are regular customers at Whole Foods Market and truly enjoy shopping here. The store is clean, the products are high quality, and most of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We especially appreciate the two gentlemen who usually work in the pizza section—they’re always kind and accommodating. Unfortunately, our experiences with one of the employees in the pizza area have been consistently disappointing. There is a tall blonde woman who, unlike the rest of the staff, is not friendly and often seems to have an attitude when interacting with customers. Every time we’ve tried to order a whole pizza while she’s working, she has either made it difficult or refused altogether, often giving excuses like not being able to make pizza due to a call-out. Today was no exception—despite being staffed at the pizza counter, she told us she couldn’t make whole pizzas, again with a dismissive attitude. We love Whole Foods, but this repeated issue makes us hesitate to visit the pizza section when she’s there. If the department is short-staffed and unable to fulfill basic services like making pizzas, it might be better to close the section temporarily instead of frustrating loyal customers. Really disappointed this time.

Lou in the bakery on University Parkway Sarasota, FL has been doing an amazing job for us. We order birthday cakes or cupcakes each month for staff birthdays and we give her creative freedom. She never disappoints! Ask for Lou to decorate your cake! January 2025 birthday cupcakes added! June birthday cake added!

Not to sure what was up with the girl working making pizzas 6/28 about 6:30 pm. Very few customers at the store my husband and I were at whole foods buying steaks for a pool party Sunday. So we walked over to the hot Pizza area. The pizza maker was on her phone and not paying attention. We waited for her to come help about 10 minutes. So she finally comes over and says if she can help. I said we want half of this pizza and half of this other one. Expecting that we were taking the pizzas that were out. She asked for my name I told her my name and said it will be 20 minutes and walked away. Left me standing there. So another customer walked up and she came around that customer said this gentleman was here first. She looks at me and I said why 20 minutes I am wanting the half of these two pizzas that are out here on display. She said DO YOU or DO YOU NOT want me to make the pizza? If you want the pizzas that are on display boxes are there. It was just that she sounded like we bothered her when she is there to do a job and NOT to be on her phone! So hope management sees this post and fix her attitude.

Google
I recently became this stores Brand Ambassador and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the store as well as the staff who are always friendly and willing to stop what they are doing to help out. I'm blessed to be a part of such a wonderful establishment.

Google
Absolutely stellar ! Many ready serve hot and cold salad/food bars so before or after shopping one can have a healthy snack or meal. Produce, meats, seafood, fruits and dairy are fantastic in price, variety and quality. Coffee is fantastic, bakery is amazing, and fresh made to order sushi. Then a fresh florist to add !!! Fantastic!!!!!

Chris B

Google
Whoever is in charge of sourcing and stocking product should be fired. Consistently empty shelves. Randomly out of staples like milk and eggs. Shocking how poor of a shopping experience this has turned into. I’ll gladly pay more to shop at local markets that can be relied on.

Blanca B.

Yelp
On University is a very clean place to shop, which is very important for d consumer. Staff is very attentive to ur. needs. Produce at times needs a little sprucing up

Carl J.

Yelp
Sadly, this store continues to decline in its cleanliness, product availability, shelves are not stocked and the staff turnover is unreal. As a WF customer since the 1990's in multiple states, this is the worse WF location. When we first started going here in 2018, it was a great grocery store, now it's more an Amazon drop-off point. We will have to shift our spend to Fresh Market for the select items we purchased from WF. Sad a great company has been ruined by Amazon.

Kimberley K.

Yelp
**** Fantastic Pit Stop **** The hot & ready food options are INcredible !! The best I've ever seen in any Whole Foods .. frankly. I was mesmerized by how diverse & scrumptious all the different types of food were especially the Latin, East Indian & Mexican sections ... WoW ! I grabbed an 8 oz of Beef Stroganoff, a potato samosa & an oatmeal raisin cookie and all of that came to less than $9.00 so it was a win win all around ! The cookie is delicious so far .... I haven't gotten to the rest of the food yet ... Back on the road !

Patricia L.

Yelp
STAFF SUPER RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. After walking the store 2 times with getting no help I made a last-ditch effort to inquire the bakery staff. Again a very irritated woman responded, "Yeah what, asked my question she said what you see is what we have!" Jeez sorry for asking. Over this store!

GiGi D.

Yelp
Thank you Whole Foods for customizing a gorgeous egg & nut-free sheet pan cake for my older son's birthday. My younger son is allergic to nuts and eggs so it's very hard to find cakes that have neither... But I knew Whole Foods would swoop in for the win and on top of that, they were happy to customize the cake and everything! How'd the cake taste? Like corn bread covered in frosting. Was this a bad thing? Nope! Not at all. Everyone loved it, including my older son whose birthday it was!

Felicia W.

Yelp
I have to say I'm disappointed in this specific store. I've shopped at many WF locations because I enjoy the products, but this store has the most unhelpful and unfriendly employees. Even using the self checkout where you do not need to interact with the sub-par staff it is still an unwelcoming environment. Tonight the machine required an employee to reset a button boy was this person "bothered" to have to do this. The staff at this location do not seem to represent WF in the best light that I have become used to at other locations.

Angela R.

Yelp
My one complaint is when I buy a slice of pizza there is no food check out except with the main store. By then, lunch is cold. They are corporate enough to fix this easily. A self check out for lunch food would solve it but they haven't done so . Then why set up a space to eat and sell foods to eat in the store? This is especially a problem around noon Otherwise, ive been pleased with what is offered

Lee P.

Yelp
I shop here frequently for health products and produce. The quality of items is good but my main issue with this store is the staff. I am in the store at least once a week and most often the staff is rude, unhelpful, and they seem like they don't want to be there. It is rare that I interact with someone who is nice.

Max C.

Yelp
Employee called the police on me without even trying to talk to me. Most likely because i was confused at all of the different food options and was taking too long. Extremely unwelcoming and will not be returning

M R.

Yelp
The 364 stuffing was rotten. Seriously, rotten. It was not expired and both bags reeked. Unacceptable. Do not buy this 365 brand.

Patti K.

Yelp
I've heard so many amazing things about Whole Foods so I finally decided to go there today. One of the best things I've heard is you can pick up hot and ready food for dinner. To my disbelief, they do have a hot and ready food but it's Buffet style which kind of grosses me out. Nobody really oversees all of that food out in the open. There was a little girl running back-and-forth like a maniac between the buffets running her hands up and down the place where you would normally set your container while you put food in it. Looking around there's no place for anybody to sanitize their hands and with the food out in the open like that it just seems gross because of 1.) Germs 2.) Flies or other insects. I did end up purchasing a couple of sandwiches where the meat is located behind the glass cases. I also purchased a bag of vegan nuggets and a couple other things. This grocery store is actually nothing any more special than any of the other local grocery stores. I don't see what the big deal is so for me fighting traffic from Lakewood Ranch to get over there is not worth it at all. It's more expensive than other stores and pretty much offered the same thing except the buffet style food that's def not my style.

Bianca C.

Yelp
Beautiful Whole Foods with many other stores located nearby, however, service wise is a "0". The cashier never greeted us, seemed annoyed and looked as if she didn't want to be there.. I don't see myself coming here as we were just stopped by to charge our car on our way to Tampa.

Michael K.

Yelp
I periodically buy a salad at the Whole Foods on University and find it satisfyingly fresh. However Last week I instead ordered from the hot bar the smoked Barbeque Chicken and some mashed potatoes. I took the container home and two hours later began to eat it. After eating a few bites of chicken I cut into the breast and my knife hit something solid that was not bone. Upon inspection I found a cylindrical piece of plastic about the size of a silver dollar with a small hole in the middle. Certainly not a part of the original chicken. I had ingested part of the chicken but opted to not eat any more after finding the plastic. I contacted Corporate customer service and they apologized and offered a refund. I responded back that their advertising slogan should include " if you find pieces of plastic inside our chicken, we will refund your purchase price ." How generous of them. Terrible response from them. Completely insensitive and inadequate. I urge those who are health conscious to avoid their hot bar,

Patricia C.

Yelp
Would give zero stars but Yelp won't let me. Where do I start? Bare shelves, milk $10 a gallon - only option. Employees are rude, unaware, no concept of personal space. Example? I'm shopping looking for flour and molasses and condensed milk - all of which they are out of :(, and there's this guy who has to scan the exact shelf, where I am standing, not more than 3 inches from my face to tell the Amazon customers that they're out of everything. Dirty bathrooms. Spoon machine broken. Stick to Publix. People are nice there. Whole Foods used to be the place to go......not anymore.

Xheyitsaceax R.

Yelp
i swear this location never ever ever stocks their shelf. they need to really figure it out. i go everyday for two weeks and they were consistently out of the same things and i mean OUT to the point there's not even a replacement

Lala C.

Yelp
Knowing that Whole Foods does the work for us to ensure that we are supporting sustainable businesses helps our peace of mind and hopefully our health too. The staff are always very pleasant. Best seafood selections on the weekend though. The Prime discount and added points by using our Amazon credit card are other positives. Some of the organic produce is high in cost so those items are purchased elsewhere. The prepared food section is slowly being restocked after Covid restrictions. Tables outside to enjoy your snack. The team there works hard to keep everything clean. Obviously, it is not as grand as the Texas WF stores that we accustomed to; however, it is a piece of comfort while transitioning to a new home.

Yelp
If I could leave zero stars I would. Stopped at Whole Foods for lunch today for a quick trip to the salad bar. I ate maybe half of it and an hour later had extreme food poisoning. Waste of money and ruined my work day.

Blake G.

Yelp
this was the worst food I've ever had I bought steaks there was more bristle than meat. They're butchers must be so lazy. and for $33 a pound that was some some crap you could not pay me to buy it. The store layout was crap. The ambience was horrible. The service was OK but you could not pay me to go back there. If the minimum wasn't one Star I would put zero.

Yelp
Traveling around the country I have experienced MANY Whole Foods! Home based in Del Mar, CA. Where my home base store is located. A upper class location. Hands down this is the MOST expensive over priced WholeFoods I have been to ever! Items are 2-3$ ea more!! For NO reason. It's not located in an upper class location but actually a college area! Really?! Unexceptionable on all levels! I am also blown away to see the lack of quality items available here as well! The whole intention behind Whole Foods is more wholesome ingredient food! This is a disgrace to the healthy lifestyle that we so badly need MOST especially in this area!!!! Amazon has done a wonderful job of manipulating the minds of consumers ONCE AGAIN!! The store is like a zoo. Packed with employees and customers, which makes for an even more unpleasant experience. Fresh Market is literally across the street, will be giving this a try hoping for a more pleasant well priced options for the SAME items! Florida WholeFoods get it together!

Elle C.

Yelp
The seafood sold at this store is of abysmal quality. Countless times I've had to return shrimp because they were spoiled. This last experience was with their "fresh" mussels from Canada, the grossest product, they smelled okay after cleaning them and until I steamed them. Seriously what an awful experience the smell ugh. Unfortunately I was making them for a dinner party, I had to toss them, air the house out and of course no chance of returning them because I lost my receipt. WF has become one of the worst grocery stores in existence, thank you Amazon.

Joseph S.

Yelp
I can but am sad to know that Sarasota has two Whole Foods and St Pete has none. As with any establishment you cannot cover everything for everyone but they are pretty close depending on your taste for adventure. If you are looking for great hit and cold food bars....bar none the UTC location has it all...if you cannot find something you like at this smorgasbord than you are not hungry...you are peckish and should wonder around a bit...you will find it. For a regular grocery store it has a good selection of many specialty items and their own "365 Brand" is a good value, high quality offering. Meat/wine and Cheese has many many options and the veggies are all fresh and also above average varieties and selections I usually stop in on Saturday and everything is well stocked.

Mo M.

Yelp
This is such a great place to shop. Everyone is helpful and the food is fresh and delicious. I had to get a few things in the late afternoon before Thanksgiving, a busy time for sure, but the woman in self check out was wonderful and I got in and out quickly, with everything I needed.

Tim E.

Yelp
This is your typical Whole Foods. They have quality Food at an upscale price. They do have a large selection of food you will not find at your local grocery store. Large organic and allergy free selections. If you come here be prepared to spend some money.

Surya G.

Yelp
Love the store. We only purchase organic, so we appreciate the organic produce. I find the complaining comments on here silly to say the least. If I ever purchase something - anywhere - that doesn't meet my standards, I tell someone and get a refund! Easy peasy! It's rare that I need to do that at Whole Foods though.

Monica D.

Yelp
Everyone working at this location seems extremely unhappy. Ima say that's Amazon's influence and work ethos. That easygoing hipster vibe among the staff that made Whole Foods a pleasant and even fun experience is dead and gone. I want to still enjoy Whole Foods; yet there are other stores that offer the same level of produce and goods in this area, (Fresh Market, Detweilers and to some extent Publix) where the staff doesn't seem overburdened by just being there. I would rather shop where I'm not supporting a billionaire who may succeed with his business but fails miserably with his people.

Joan G.

Yelp
BOO!! Boo Hoo! I know what a good Whole Foods store looks like--and this is not it. The produce section is way too small. They don't have the best quality meats (go to FMkt for the best). Too much goopy pre-made food in steam bins! (Is this a grocery store or a fast-food market?) Too many non-food items. The fresh-made ORANGE JUICE machine is often broken. BTW, please stop putting out 'fresh-squeezed OJ that has been on the shelf for days--what's the point?? If anyone else out there cares to have a good quality grocery store, please speak up. Whole Foods should be getting consistent 5 stars.

Daniel C.

Yelp
I was at your store today and asked 2 different workers for an item that I could not locate. Both workers were not pleasant towards me. The first worker Just said go to the butter section I went to the butter section and I could not find what I needed I then asked another worker the same question and he just pointed to the section where we were standing. They were no helpful at all and very rude I will not be going to your store again and I will keep shopping at Publix like I always do

Franz Henryk V.

Yelp
Pretty okay Whole Foods but not the best I've seen. Lots selection but unknown reasons, plenty of staff are either grumpy or just tired

Brent A.

Yelp
It's your standard Whole Foods. If you're shopping here you know what you're in for. Over priced, quality items with good service. Does the value cost equation balance here? No, it never has. There is a reason why Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world. LOL! Great salad and food bars. The parking lot can get crazy and some of the self-entitled customers may run you over while on their cell phone in their European SUV but hey there are worst ways you could die. Will I be back to Whole Foods? Sure, but it's not my first choice for grocery shopping or eateries.

Pam G.

Yelp
Re: Honore Brassiere inside Whole Foods. Greatest thing ever. I stopped in the other Friday night to look for something to make for dinner and saw this instead. It was very busy as t was still happy hour but I soon found out it was because everything is delicious. I've been back a few times and the food has always been great. The service is trying. Very nice people but hit or miss. Never rude, just experiencing the growing pains of a new restaurant. If you've ever been to a place in its first few weeks you know what I mean. Everyone is trying but everything is new. One night the taps were broke. Which throws a kink in your night. They offered 2 cans for the price of one draft which was more than kind to accommodate. However for my second can I got a fresh glass whereas my date didn't a few moments earlier. I ordered to go and they estimated 5-10 minutes, it was more like 20. Again - just growing pains - or learning to walk. Whatever metaphor or analogy works for you. It won't keep me from coming back . . . because the food is great. You can get prime rib, potatoes and green beans (excuse me, haricots verts) or just a small charcuterie with calabrese salami and smoked provolone (or felino salami and manchego). You could have a rotisserie chicken meal or one of the best burgers I ha e ever had in my like. You could have a little pizza or a chocolate crepe . . . which you'll watch being made if you sit at the bar. Actually, if you sit at the bar you can watch everything being made. I know some friends think I'm goofy when I tell them let's go to Whole Foods for dinner, and yes the overall experience isn't the same as sitting in a restaurant l, but they are always surprised at the great quality of the food. It really is terrific. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed

Dr. L.

Yelp
This is a typical Whole Foods. It is nice inside. If you don't mind paying double for almost everything you buy, it is fine. They have added safety measures for the hot food areas. You may not be able to buy anything" hot"... Just FYI...

Marcos H.

Yelp
On October 3rd, 2020 I bought in the WF at University Drive and Honoré a sandwich they call "London Underground Yorkshire." I paid $5 and this is what I got: One (very thinly) slice of roast beef, a tiny piece of tomato and half of a (very small) ring of onion. Just plain robbery.

Tim K.

Yelp
Great to have a Whole Foods right on University so you don't have to go all the way downtown anymore! Man, this area is exploding and moving a Whole Foods out closer to the 75 corridor was a smart choice. Nice, clean new store with all the usual accoutrements you expect from this chain. They honor all the new Amazon Prime discounts and if you have a Prime Visa you get more off too. Whole Foods is typically pricey, but this location feels a bit more than others, if just slightly. Know this going and take advantage of Prime / other deals.

Peter W.

Yelp
I'm giving you 1 star because I can't give 0. I will never shop in your store again. I was asked to leave the soup section because I wasn't wearing gloves. I was just looking to see what types of soup you had. I touched nothing and didn't even know if I was going to get soup. I believe in wearing masks and social distancing but this type of weirdness is too much. Screw you I won't be back.

Shawn G.

Yelp
I went in today to bring back an Amazon return around 4:30PM on 5/13/23. There was a young lady by herself at the counter.. She was graciously helping a customer that came to the store and had not even started the return process for an Amazon return.. (The person that did that was also a nice person and apologised). The young lady helped this person and was calm.. she was helping the lady with her phone.. showing her how to do a return on Amazon.. and finally got the scan barcode needed. Even as the backlog at her desk was growing, she was completely calm. Even a register clerk near her came to ask for help, she graciously went to help her. After I did my return, I had 2 things to pick up, so I went back to her counter. Said, I'm back! This young lady will go a long way. Congrats WFM for hiring her and putting her in a great place so she can shine.

Selmy B.

Yelp
The variety of selections and the stocked shelves are the prize at this location. The staff is efficient and friendly too. The bakery options are so delicious. With the fresh breads, cookies, bagels, and croissants, especially the almond or nutella croissant, Yum!! There is fresh pizza, or if you want a make your own salad, then go to the buffet area. With not only salad but an assortment of freshly made, culturally diversed meals waiting for you to pick a container, fill-it up, and take it home with you. The best part, you pay one price by weight, so mix and match to your hearts delight.

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Heaven on earth. I LOVE Whole Foods even though it's pricey. But I'm on vacation so why do I care? First off... Love their soaps, scents, clothes, health section! They great you at the front and I always like to get at least one hand made bar. Great selection of produce and meats. Also...Love the AC. VERY cold in the summer! Passing though on our way from Houston to Naples and so thankful for an AMAZING place to stop and refuel with delicious, real, healthy foods! The people are friendly and helpful!

Joshua B.

Yelp
While not the most exciting picture, I had lunch at the new Whole Foods Market. They actually have a decent sized cafe in the restaurant and my buddy had talked up the burger. Sadly, it was beyond overcooked and was under seasoned as well. The green beans were the highlight. They were actually really good, perfectly seasoned with salt, butter, and garlic. What the cafe lacked, the store more than made up for. They have an outstanding selection of grab and go foods as well as a nice salad bar and hot bar. Worth checking out if in the area. I would give the cafe a 2 and the store a 5. Hopefully I will have better luck at the cafe next time.

William C.

Yelp
This place is outstanding ! They have nearly every angle covered. The Pre prepared options are amazing. 1) Hot foods - they have at least 10 different hot soups. Like Stone Crab soup, Lobster bisque, white chicken chili and much more. They offer a huge array of dishes, including Indian food (curry cashew chicken & more), Italian (2 types of Lasagna & more) Asian, Irish, American and more, as well as a huge salad bar and a pizza bar. 2) Take home and cook / heat up - they have quite a number of dishes including seafood, beef, chicken and vegetarian options that have been marinaded, spiced, cleaned or whatever is needed to create your wonderful meal at home. One of my favorites is the salmon on a cedar plank (yes, the plank is included). They offer prepared empanadas (4 types), sandwiches and more. In addition to all of the above, they have a wonderful offering of fruits, fresh meats, seafood, freshly squeezed juices, wine, beers, along with a really nice selection of interesting cheeses. They have a charcuterie and all kinds of sweet treats. Their already made guacamole is out of this world. On top of everything I've listed above (and a bunch I forgot), they have a fun wine bar / restaurant where you can just hang out and get a glass of wine or a bite to eat. All of these upscale offerings do come at a price. While I don't feel that this place is "Overpriced" (especially for the quality), it isn't cheap either. You will generally pay more than at a regular grocery store but if you consider the quality, amazing selections and overall atmosphere, you will likely agree with me that the whole experience is worth the premium. Since this place has opened, I have been there at least 2 - 3 times a week. Interestingly, I have only gone to Fresh Market (across the street) once in the same time frame. It will be interesting to see if they (FM) try to step up their game.

Mary E.

Yelp
The hot bar food is overpriced and not very good . Got fafael - terrible and not a very good selection of food - meatballs were over cooked - just had to waste 10 dollars could have gotten something from their restaurant that would have been so much better

Karen Z.

Yelp
We've ordered pick up groceries from this location. The baked goods were particularly great. We've tried a variety of cakes. The chocolate bar cake was awesome. Their produce is great and the fish was first rate too. Delivery service to our car was friendly and very fast. I ordered groceries and they were ready within 45 minutes.

Robert F.

Yelp
Excellent bakery, vegetables, and ribs. Believe it or not their less or even priced with Publix. I shop at Whole Foods because of their fresh baked bread with no hassle of having to ask someone at Publix if the fresh hoagie rolls are out. Thank you Whole Food !

Chandelle M.

Yelp
The absolute BEST Whole Foods I have been to. I went for my Thanksgiving shopping and was delighted with their staff. I swear I have never encountered such incredible staff anywhere! Super friendly and genuinely friendly and helpful. I would give them 10 stars if I could! The salad bar and hot/cold bar is amazing too! I was also impressed at how clean this store was! Good job Whole Foods!

Gaylynn B.

Yelp
Poor Customer Service: Drove over an hour to visit this Whole Foods Market because we love Whole Foods. We had trouble finding a couple of items and we walked all through the store trying to find someone to ask. No one around. We went to the sushi counter and asked the man behind the counter. He said he was a vendor and didn't know anything. We went to the Customer Service Desk. The women who was supposed to be at the desk was out in front laughing and chatting with some friends. We went to checkout and asked the cashier about our items and she said to check with customer service. We told her about the woman at customer service and she said. Oh, I'm sorry. And that was it. We won't be back to that Whole Foods Market. Gaylynn & Mic Brenoel, Arcadia, Florida

Gabe B.

Yelp
The Almond Croissants are what drives me here. This bakery has the best selections and fully stocked about 85% of the time. Which I totally appreciate as it is further from my home than I would like to travel. The food options are fresh and well displayed, plus the soups variety is the best I have seen from a supermarket. I am never disappointed with the fruits too. Parking spaces can be a bit tight outside, but I tend to park further away to have a little more room around me. Staff is friendly and helpful. Top it off with the additional discounts for Amazon Prime members and this is totally worth the drive.

Spencer A.

Yelp
One of of not the best Whole Foods I've ever been too. Well lit, plenty of space and great service. Full pizza bar, great French restaurant. Nice parking lot too. Just off of I-75.

Joey D.

Yelp
This is the Whole Foods Market that Sarasota should have gotten in the first place. But with all things, Florida is the last place for change, ever. Downtown will always be my store in Sarasota , but it is nice to have a store that reminds of stores in California ; Los Altos in particular. The restaurant is a nice touch . This is a beautiful store .

Liz L.

Yelp
What supermarket with a bakery doesn't have bagels at 8:15 am? I was told they won't be ready until the afternoon sometime. WHAT????? Bagels are a very popular breakfast food...... hello!!!!!! Let's get with the program folks & hire some competent people to go with your supposedly upscale image. Won't be returning to this store any time soon. Especially not for breakfast foo

Erina Q.

Yelp
I love this place! The selection is great as any Whole Foods but the food buffet and sushi are to die for. Also, the restaurant is one of the nicest I've seen at a Whole Foods with great options! Although Whole Foods is a little pricey, it's worth the splurge for the great quality!
