We loved our stay at Why Not! The staff were all so friendly and welcoming and it felt like entering a big family home. The pool was gorgeous and surrounded by palm trees and lots of fairy lights giving the lounge areas a really relaxed, holiday feel. There’s plenty of space to enjoy the warm evenings and although we didn’t get a chance to try them- the burgers from Lush on-site looked amazing! All facilities were clean and well maintained and the rooms were very quiet and comfy! Thank you so much for having us- we couldn’t recommend more!

Great hostel! About 15 minute walk out of town but the free hourly shuttle made up for that! If you like a beer or two but still have the option of going to bed around midnight this place is amazing! The night manager keeps the hostel quiet during the night. Amazing staff when I was there, I will definitely visit this place again!

This place was great whilst I was there. I got here after doing slave labour (sorry... Farm work) and needed somewhere to let of steam. Got myself a beer and jug of beer for $22.00. In addition to the burger joint and bar on site there's a swimming pool, laundry facilities, free pool table and in reception you will find all the offers for things like bungee jumping, skydives, barrier reef etc. The staff are sound and willing to help with any questions you got, even had a beer with some s couple of nights. There is a free shuttle to the main center of Cairns (or 15/20 minute walk). The kitchen is really clean, plenty of space and places to put dry and kitchen food. Rooms were cleaned often by stay in backpackers, after having sheets as a duvet in so many hostels it was nice to have a proper quilt and pillow. This may be one of the cheaper hostels around (if not the cheapest in Cairns) but it's easily the best. I wasnt even there in peak season but you can see from your surroundings they do usually do different events. Whether your traveling solo or alone I would highly recommend you stay here!

Great atmosphere in this hostel, ideal if you want to chill after a long trip along the East Coast! Or if you are about to start it, Ally in the travel desk is amazing to help you out! Amazing the free breakfast in the mornings and staff super cool, come stay here! The free shuttle they offer to town is super handy and I loved the pool with all the palm trees around 😍 I stayed a week here but I wish I had more time to stay longer! I'll come back for sure

Amazing hostel!! Staff are friendly and welcoming. You CAN NOT miss Sunday pool party. Nice breakfast and late night pizza. Our room was just renovated and really spacious. A special thanks to the amazing Jeremy!! Highly recommended!

It's a very budget option. We rented a double room. The rooms had insect screens on the windows and air conditioning. The staff were helpful. The sheets were stained but clean. The hostel is large and its main building has a central courtyard containing a pool and smoking area, a kitchen and a bar which plays very loud music to midnight each night. (The drinkers at the bar will probably be making noise for an hour or two past midnight.) For this reason the hostel probably won't suit light sleepers or anyone who plans to go to bed early, and if you book a room it is worth asking if that room is near the bar. The hostel might suit young travellers who are looking to meet people, drink heavily and sleep late. It's a 15-20 minute walk from Central Cairns and there is a shuttle bus that runs guests back and forth.

I loved this place. The rooms were nothing too special, but as a whole this was one of my favorite hostels. The girl at reception was fun and energetic and it was an easy check-in. We spent some time in town, but in the evening we just hung out in the hostel and had a lot of fun. There was a trivia night and the losers had to jump in the pool and everyone else who was staying there was really chill.

Price is right. Not sure how it is during week nights but on Friday night it's a party atmosphere until late with the music turned up and going late. Not ideal for someone who is real tired trying to sleep. Other than that the staff was great, room was clean, power outlets with power strips are nice. I actually had reception in my room unlike most places. Has washers and dryers, kitchen, bar and other nice things. I would give it a higher rating if was being kept up by the party atmosphere.
