We stayed 4 nights at this beautiful hotel, my friend (an architect) also fell in love with the architecture. The owner was very nice and helped us with every question. Breakfast varied every morning and we also got to try Thai breakfast. |The hotel is not directly in the city centre, but close to the airport. It was easy to get around with Uber.|In case we come back to Chiang Mai we would definitely stay there again.

The staff were amazing, very friendly and helped get us wherever we wanted to go throughout our stay. The room was gorgeous and very spacious. Its in a great spot and we would definitely stay again. The atmosphere is super relaxing - a perfect place to unwind after a big day out in Chiang Mai. Couldn't ask for more, already recommended to our family and friends can't wait to see how it picks up once word gets around i'd say get in while it's still new and not many people know about it because it is quite small & is sure to be fully booked soon.

We really enjoyed our stay in this family-run hotel. Everyone is really charming. And the rooms are just lovely. The atmosphere of the hotel is really calm and laid-back. The nice swimming pool is a big plus. Yes, the hotel is a bit far from the city centre. But a tuk tuk to the old town costs just around 100 baht. And you can book tours at the reception desk. On the whole, we can definitely recommend staying in this serene, secluded hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay here. While it's located a bit outside the main city, I've been to Chiang Mai before so I know my way around, and the staff quickly helped me rent a motorbike to get around. Quiet, peaceful, relaxed ambiance, and very attentive staff. The rooms were so great that half the time my girlfriend and I didn't even want to get out of bed. Overall, if you're looking for a bit of an escape, definitely recommend Wiang Chang Klan.

A really great spot to stay. We even extended our stay by 2 extra nights. The building itself is lovely, using dark wood and concrete, built around the central swimming pool. ||||The elderly gentleman (who I assumed to be the owner) is very kind and helpful and introduced the exotic fruit of the region to us. ||||We rented a scooter as it's a bit of a walk into town and there aren't many restaurants nearby to the hotel. Another con is that you can't use the swimming pool at night because it's so centrally located.

This hotel is pretty terrible. The location is not great - about a 30 minute walk to the old city or a $3-5 tuk tuk ride. The main street (Chang Klan Road) near the hotel is quite seedy at night with KTV bars filled with prostitutes outside.||||The rooms would be acceptable except that the walls are paper thin, and I could hear every conversation in any room within 30 feet of our room. The rooms also face the pool area, which can get loud with large groups. While we were there, there was a large group of about 15 Chinese tourists that were literally yelling by the pool day and night, and it made sleeping quite challenging.||||The staff also leaves quite a bit to be desired. The man working is very very nice and helpful, though he does not speak English at all. The girl that works the front desk most days (she has round glasses) we found to be quite rude and unhelpful. We asked her to help us call a taxi and she stared at us blankly as though we had asked her to do something extremely difficult. We also asked her to sign us up for a bike tour. Granted, it was about 8 pm on the night before the tour, we though it would be worth at least a try. She told us that there would be no way we could get in on a tour. So we ended up emailing the tour company ourselves and were able to get in on the tour just fine. I think the service can really make or break an experience, and we were pretty disappointed.

The tranquility and calmness, not just of the hotel, but also of Vim (pls. apologize if I got the spelling wrong), the junior manager, is outstanding. We love this place and want to come back.||For other 'tripadvisors': there are plenty of pubs and good restaurants in walking distance. To reach the sights of Chiang Mai we recommend hiring a motorbike; which Vim would arrange for you, of course.

Travelled here in november 2014 and debated whether i should be in the heart of old city inn chiang mai or just out. 100% happy i made the decision to go the latter. Its family run hotel and those values are shown from the service, detailing, layout and the food, wow really good food (thai green curry was awesome). I think what shone the most was the help, everything from tours to knowledge of the city in terms of markets, bars etc was great. |If your opting for a more tranquil setting, stay at wiang chang klan.
