"On a quiet residential street one block from the popular vintage shops, bars, and restaurants of Milwaukee Avenue, the Wicker Park Inn is one of the best values in Chicago , attracting an eclectic clientele of older couples, families who book the whole place for weddings and other special occasions, and young travelers eager to live like a local amid the vibrant culture of the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods. Rooms occupy one of the city’s rare surviving 1890s row houses, while apartments with fully equipped kitchens and hardwood floors occupy the first floor and the garden-facing basement of the owner’s residence (a three-story late 19th-century walk-up, just across the street). Individually decorated, rooms and apartments share an elegant, homey look. Four on-duty innkeepers provide personalized service and expert recommendations on the local scene."

We chose Wicker Park Inn because we were in town for a wedding nearby. We had the Ellen and Paulina rooms. Both were clean and spacious with individual climate control. The bathroom has heated floors although we didn’t need to use them in June lol. We reserved parking and got a spot in their attached garage which was nice. Lovely walkable neighborhood. Breakfast from 7-10am was plenty - coffee, tea, three types of homemade pastries, bread and bagels for toasting, overnight oats, yogurt, milk/half and half/almond milk for coffee, OJ. Would definitely here again. Thanks to the friendly staff!

Google
The location of this hotel cannot be beat! Loved the access to numerous shops and restaurants, right off the main strip, as well as the quick 10-minute walk to the blue line. However, for the price, breakfast is severely lacking for a "bed and breakfast." If you are satisfied with pastries and fruit for breakfast, then you will be fine. If not, look elsewhere. At least we were able to go to the many breakfast spots on the strip. It just is frustrating when you are paying that much and then having to pay for additional breakfast somewhere else! Lastly, the major issue we had with this Inn is the noise in the rooms. Many people have brought up that the trains are super loud since you are right next to the tracks. That actually did not bother us at all. What was frustrating was the nonstop floor creaking in the room above ours, going until 1 am one evening. You can hear everyone above you walking and even talking. That is what kept us up at night, and we felt frustrated from a lack of sleep. The room on the lower floor also looked out directly onto a sidewalk and some doors going into another building. We didn't book this spot for the views, but we still had to keep the curtains closed for our entire stay. Other than those two things, we didn't really have any other complaints.

Google
Great location. The bed was very comfortable. Roomy shower. It right next to the elevated tracks but you can hardly hear them. Overall a great place to stay with dozens of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Google
This is a gem of a hotel! Middle of a hot Chicago neighborhood, it features clean and comfortable rooms, a DIY breakfast in a charming kitchen, and the friendliest staff. Since parking is challenging, spring for the extra $45/day to guarantee a spot for yourself. Rooms are very reasonable for pricey Chicago. This is my new go-to stay!

westside4eva

Google
Excellent location, clean and the most comfy bed ever! Check in was very smooth and the staff was friendly. The baked breakfast goodies were delish. To be clear, the garden room was actually below street level and there was no garden or view - but that didn't matter. Thank you for a great weekend - we will return!!

Google
This is my new place to stay in Chicago! Lovely neighborhood, beautifully converted house, spotless well-appointed rooms that were surprisingly large, and attentive and friendly staff. The bed was so comfortable and I appreciated the excellent A/C. Breakfast was DIY with plenty of healthy breads, delicious spreads, tea and coffee, all the almond/soy milk you could want, and even freshly made overnight oats and chia pudding in the communal fridge. If you need more of a cooked breakfast, well, the entirety of Wicker Park restaurants are a few steps away. Parking in this super-popular and mostly resident-permit-only neighborhood is of course chancy, so I recommend springing for the extra $45/night to park your car in their (small, only 2 cars) garage or get a permit placard for your stay.

Google
Great location within walking distance to everything. The room was comfortable and clean. Our only complaint was the noise. Coming from Santa Fe, we are used to quiet nights and were shocked at the blue line trains running 24/7. We got barely any sleep for our three night stay. That plus the uncarpeted floors and we could hear every step and conversation around us. Some rugs and sound proofing would help. Pity, this would have been my go to Chicago place except for the noise.

Google
We had SUCH a lovely stay. The building is adorable, the service was great, room was spacious and very clean, and the breakfast was delicious. Would absolutely recommend. Definitely some things to consider before booking, but did not bother us whatsoever: -It is an older building. You will hear people coming and going and the trains passing by. Understandably it would disturb people that aren't used to that amount of city noise. -Breakfast is mainly baked goods and coffee. (Though limited, delicious and homemade.) -Our room had only skylights, no windows.

Yelp
The room is very comfortable and the staff and owners are friendly and above average. I truly recommend this place not far from everything happening on Division

Yelp
Beautiful and clean rooms, excellent service. Love the heated bathroom floors and the shared kitchen with a view. Perfect location to get anywhere in the city, but the neighborhood is fun too.

Yelp
Bed was comfortable and room is clean. The atmosphere is well done. The staff is very unfriendly and the "breakfast" part of the bed and breakfast needs work. It's a muffin and coffee.

Laurie B.

Yelp
The Wicker Park Inn is lovely and cozy. We loved everything about our stay. We would highly recommend you check out this property. We will be back!

Yelp
Good area to stay in with several main streets nearby. We stayed in the Wolcott room downstairs. We could hear the guests upstairs moving around and voices, but it didn't bother us. The room was very clean, quaint and decorated tastefully. Our accommodations were all we needed for 2 days in Chicago. The homemade breakfast breads were delicious. Overall our stay was very nice!

Yelp
My second stay here, because last time was fine. Apparently public events as important to the hotel as their guests. My room is next to their kitchen which they rent to public. When the noise from one of their events became too loud, I asked to move me to a different room. The owner told me, this place is important to the community, and they do not expect me to be in my room in the middle of the day, and I could go elsewhere to find some quiet. Unfortunately I'm also preparing for an event, where I have to be a speaker, and privacy and quiet is important to me as of right now. Probably not going to return here in the future, since the basic needs of their customers is not the priority for this hotel. It felt I'm being held hostage in this party

Yelp
Wicker Park Inn is a homey place, conveniently located near shopping and dining streets. Our room was large and well-appointed, with a king-size bed, luxury bed linens, fast wifi, and a big bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Breakfast is minimal, but plenty of good coffee and offered in a cozy room with a country-style common table and lounge chairs.

Yelp
I wished I stayed a little longer, but this was the staycation I really needed. The owner is very sweet and made my overall experience amazing. The room looks exactly like the pictures, super clean and pretty designs. I included a breakfast in bed and 1 hour massage during my stay and it made the experience 10x better. Would recommend this for anyone traveling to Chicago or for anyone who just needs a weekend getaway. The location is very convenient because there's a lot of restaurants, shops and the blue line train is in the area. I'm planning to come back here again!

Yelp
This was exactly what I was looking for. I was coming from a really terrible stay at the Travelodge downtown and needed to spend my last night in Chicago somewhere pleasant that was clean and totally different than Downtown. The owner/ operator was so kind on the phone, she upgraded my room to a king bed when I expressed my frustrations with my last hotel. The charm, warmth, and personality of the Inn was exactly what I needed- so satisfying. The soaps and lotions are really nice as well!

Yelp
I stayed here for 4 nights in January; not ideal time to stay anywhere in the Midwest honestly... I always had positive interactions with the staff members at breakfast or just passing them in the hall. The entire inn parts we saw (our room, the kitchen they have, garage) all looked SO NEW and well-designed! I love their bathroom tiles and lighting. So much of my own style. I also received breakfast each morning, and they were deliciously handmade! I really liked the Wicker Park Inn, but I really wished there was a train stop closer by (especially in winter). Not really a fix either party could make. But I am glad to know a great place to stay. Huge bonus: Wicker Park Inn added awesome instructions to get places (e.g. Chinatown, the Loop) for the trains and which steps to take. Makes me less worried to have the info decided!

Yelp
If you want to have the perfect event, get in touch with the folks at Wicker Park Inn. We chose to have our wedding here and bought out the Inn for our guests to stay here. Every single person who works at the Inn, from the owner Laura, to the coordinator Teresa, to the innkeeper Cody, to the incredible housekeeping team, made our stay and wedding absolutely perfect. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure that we had an incredible stay and a perfect wedding. I truly cannot say enough good things about the Wicker Park Inn and the people who make it so special. We can't wait to come back!

Jenni C.

Yelp
Cute B&B in a beautiful neighborhood! So close to lots of shopping and eateries. It is stylish and and had all the modern amenities one would want! Including heated tiles in the bathroom which was my favorite!

Yelp
My partner and I stayed here for 1 night. We're in our mid-twenties so staying in Wicker Park was our first choice. We checked in at 2pm and checked out around 10am. Didn't spend too much time in the room, but nonetheless the room was great, very clean, well decorated, nice TV and powerful AC unit. We loved the bathroom, heated tiles, great soaps and amenities. They had bagels, pastries, juice, fruit, assortment of milks, coffee and more for breakfast. Our room directly faced the metro, so I was worried it would be loud. However, they provided earplugs which was considerate, but we didn't use them and had no issues sleeping. I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying the walls are thin. We stayed directly next to the breakfast/common area where they play music and where guests hang out, and we couldn't hear a single thing. The metro was also just a low rumble, didn't bother us at all. Maybe we're just heavy sleepers, but either way, we didn't hear a single thing during any of our time at the Inn. Overall, I would recommend staying here if it's within your budget. We personally thought it was well worth it, especially when airbnb's in chicago run $100 a night for a single room in a shared space. We wanted privacy and got just that at WPI.

Yelp
The Wicker Park Inn is a beautiful brick "2 Flat" style building transformed into a boutique hotel. The room was lovely with windows overlooking the quiet, tree lined residential street. The bed and linens were quite comfortable. Everything was perfectly clean. The L runs right behind the building and can be heard, but in the front of the building it just sounded like the hum of an air conditioner and I didn't notice it at all after the first day. Everything was perfect during my stay. I will definitely return.

Yelp
The Wicker Park Inn is a true hidden gem! Perfectly located in a hip neighborhood, the B & B is super cute, clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Concord room for three nights. The train noise wasn't all that loud, and with the cozy bed and blackout curtains, I slept like a rock our entire stay. The heated bathroom floor also is a nice touch, especially during our rainy, chilly weekend. Laura and Mecca are super helpful and accommodating, each going out of their way to ensure our needs were met. Oh, and don't skip Brad's restaurant-quality breakfast on this weekends -- it's to die for! He made waffles, bacon and scrambled eggs to order, and it seriously was the best breakfast I've had in quite some time. We'd definitely stay here again!

Yeri L.

Yelp
I booked a room using Wicker Park Inn's office promo for my husband's birthday! We live in Chicago and didn't need a different place to stay for the night, so we were able to use the room as a home base during the day to watch TV from the comfy bed, make trips to Jeni's, have Zoom calls, and order takeout from Wicker Park restaurants. We picked up food and brought it back to the inn to eat in the lovely dining area. The guest room was great and the bathroom in particular was outstanding. Laura was very accommodating and helped when I had wifi issues as well as bringing in an extra chair for us to do family video calls together. We felt very safe the entire time we were there and Laura had a mask on any time we had questions or needed help. Highly recommend for a daycation!

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights in the Wabansia room after not having much luck finding a good Airbnb in the area. The issue with picking a place to stay in a neighborhood you know you want to be in but don't really know exactly where you want to be, is you often miss *just* enough to have to walk longer than you want for coffee or have to hop in an Uber just to go a neighborhood over. This was the first time I felt like we nailed the location. Crawling distance to Milwaukie Ave (and Wormhole Coffee!); equal distance between two Blue Line stops (12-15 mins to West Loop, 15 mins to Millennium Park, 12-15 mins in the other direction to Logan Square); and easy walk up to Bucktown. We only took advantage of the breakfast one morning because we had to save room for all the delicious food Chicago has to offer, but the one day we did it was solid and our hosts were great. No issues with the train noise either. In fact, I wished it was louder and more constant. A+ background noise.

Yelp
Amazing! Fully remodeled chic Bed and Breakfast. Very intimate and romantic setting in the rooms. The community kitchen is just unbelievably cool. Breakfast was dynamite. We have been to many B&Bs over the years and this is by far the most unique of all. It's in the fantastic Wicker Park neighborhood where there is unlimited things to do. Dozens of restaurants from high end to affordable and cozy. There are art galleries, unique resale shops and more. All are in walking distance from the Inn. This is a must stay place if your looking to visit the Chicagoland area.

Meg L.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a quick getaway to Chicago for our 25th wedding anniversary. I've been very freaked out about the pandemic and was nervous to go. This place was awesome! We were able to do contactless checkin. The room was very cute and most importantly, very clean! What I loved about this bed-and-breakfast was that it was in the middle of a residential neighborhood, within walking distance of restaurants and shops. We did not take advantage of the breakfasts but I'm sure it's wonderful, as everything else was!

Yelp
This B&B was perfect for our intimate wedding! We rented out the entire house for our family to stay at for the weekend and they LOVED IT! The location is perfect (about 7 minute walk to Damen blue line stop) and all the wicker park businesses/bars. Also, breakfast served each morning was great and they even prepared gluten free food for one of our guests. Laura (owner) is such a great owner and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding weekend went smoothly. Be sure to stay here if you're looking for a Chicago neighborhood vibe!!

Carole B.

Yelp
Great place to stay and awesome venue for a party or event. We had a bridal shower in their kitchen/event space and we had a great time. Very quaint and intimate. The staff was very helpful in getting us set up, caterer suggestions and planning. Would highly recommend!

Marlys S.

Yelp
We were totally charmed by this B & B just a few minutes' walk from the Davenport Piano Bar, where we had tickets to see a friend's recital. The Inn was impeccably clean, modern, and was beautifully appointed, with thoughtful attention to details. WIFI was steady and strong. Plenty of restaurant choices are within walking distance nearby. Wicker Park Inn arranged parking for us (extra charge) in a convenient lot, with in and out privileges, about a block away. There was a very handy guidebook in our room with useful information and detailed travel directions to major attractions. Great for sight-seeing! The check-in person was gracious and helpful, and we were surprised that our comfy room also included a continental breakfast in the communal kitchen - not stale pastries, but fresh coffeecakes, overnight oatmeal, yogurt, fresh juice, and fresh pot of coffee. (There may have been fresh fruit - I don't remember.) Granted, the "L" does zoom by right next to the building (it was fun to watch from the kitchen window), but our room was on the street side, and the "L" did not disrupt us in the night in the slightest. We are looking for another excuse to stay there again.

Yelp
Super cute and newly redone rooms in a hip neighborhood with all the amenities you need moments walk away. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, breakfast was fruit, yogurt, sandwiches, tea and coffee etc. would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
We hosted a bachelorette weekend here and the owner was a tremendous help with the planning. We had several changes going back and forth and all were handled with extreme patience. Laura was able to book a cocktail making class for us, which was so much fun! We did have a mixup on parking. We had originally booked 3 spaces for two nights earlier in the week and the day before changed it to 1 car the day prior to our stay, Friday and was not charged for the other two cars. Very late Thursday night added another car to Friday and was assured that extra spot and that it was no problem. Upon checkin, that spot was being utilized and was told that some spots were rented out during the week and would have to wait until the car moved to use it, sometime after the work day ended. She said there were no other available parking spots and we would just have to wait for the other car to move to use it. Luckily, we were able to find free street parking but would not be back to the Inn until later that evening. No one was in condition to move the car to the assigned space and therefore unable to utilize it. Some spots are not available at checkin time, which didn't help us at all and which we were not informed of prior. We were still charged the $35 for that unused spot even though we brought it up at checkin and checkout and again when I saw the charge still on my receipt when I got home. I was refunded for the spot after another call from the person using the spot and after seeing my Google review. I was very concerned for the other guests, as this was a bachelorette weekend party and the walls and floors are thin. I am hoping we didn't disturb the other guests too much. I wouldn't recommend for large groups unless you plan on renting all the rooms at the Wicker Park Inn. Again, Laura was a huge help and worked with all our room changes, planning of our cocktail mixing class and giving us suggestions on where to go for different activities we had planned. The breakfast was amazing as well. The party had a great weekend. Just be careful about the parking situation if you need it.

Yelp
Cute cute cute spot in Wicker Park. This is a great alternative to larger hotels and it is conveniently located if you want to explore the area. There is free parking as well, so it makes it great for those traveling in from out of town with a car. The rooms are nice and from what I heard, the staff is really friendly. It can be hard to get a reservation at times since it's small, but definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Lovely little inn in the heart of Wicker Park. I stayed for one night in the garden suite across the street from the actual inn. Loved their check-in process for latecomers and when I made mistake on my end, they didn't give me any grief at all. I booked on HotelTonight and it did not make a difference - super easy check-in and checkout, great communication. Bed was comfortable and wifi worked fine. All the basic needs met :)

Yelp
The Wicker Park Inn was located exactly where I needed it to be. My son and I were able to just walk blocks to get to everything we needed. The Inn keeper was great and came over to help me get the tv working and when I told her the microwave didn't work in our kitchen (in the Garden Room) she offered to give us free breakfast which wasn't included with our room. The room was cold. The floors were like ice and the windows drafty. I think the room would great in the summer but in the winter burrr. I also did not like the step up into the bathroom and to the toilet and a step down into the kitchen but that was stated in the description. Overall a good place to stay for the price.

Yelp
We stayed in the garden suite, fantastic size. Full kitchen and eat in area. Very spacious, comparable to a studio apartment. Location was fantastic. The staff was very accommodating to my late checkin. Would definitely stay again.

Marion F.

Yelp
We returned here for 5th time. Each year the Inn gets more attractive and charming. Parker was a very helpful host. The rooms are nice sized, tastefully decorated and soundproof, so that the neighboring Blue Line is just a whisper. Breakfast in beautiful sunroom. We feel at home and pampered.
google avatar

Pablo S.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying here. Nice size room ( the cape cod) with maid service and wifi. Parking is street parking with Permit which they provided so I wasn't a big deal. Unless your like me and forget where you parked and what you are driving haha! Emily and Paul are great!!

Yelp
My friend and I stayed at Wicker Park Inn for one night during the week and we loved it! Such a cute quiet spot in a nice neighborhood with $25 parking nearby that the Inn offers. The room was decorated nicely and was clean, had everything we needed and the ladies who worked there were super friendly. I'd stay again!

Yelp
We recently had the pleasure of spending a week in the Blue Line apartment. One of the first questions a reviewer should answer would be - "would you go back?". And our answer is absolutely! In fact we can't wait. As a native Chicagoan living as an ex-pat in Colorado we're fairly regular visitors to the city, but this was our first time staying in the Wicker Park neighborhood. It's hard for me to imagine a better place to stay to enjoy all that the Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square neighborhoods have to offer - and they have a LOT. The Inn is located on a nice, tree-lined residential street but is only a block off Milwaukee and within a few blocks of Division, where interesting local bars, restaurants, coffee places and other esoteric businesses abound within easy walking distance. Want to venture into other parts of the city? You're only a few blocks from either the Damen or Division Blue Line (L) stops so going beyond the immediate area is as easy as could be. This is, as the owners describe, an "urban B&B", not a full-service hotel so set your expectations accordingly. If you want the amenities of a downtown hotel then you'd be best staying downtown. But if you want to stay in a vibrant and exciting neighborhood with all of those amenities and more a short walk away, this is the place to be. Several area businesses offer discounts to those staying at the Inn as well. The Inn itself is is clean, comfortable and appealing. Do note the one word you may have been expecting - "quiet" - is missing for only one reason. While the street is quite peaceful with minimal traffic, the L runs literally feet away from the back of the building and it does make noise. The Blue Line apartment is closest and thus arguably the noisiest, yet we were in no way bothered by the sound in the least. Seemed like nice, soothing urban sounds to us and we slept well every night we were there. Our small apartment had everything we needed for our week of urban exploration. The apartments with kitchenettes don't include breakfast so we can't comment on that, but the staff we interacted with were all super. A special shout out to Paul who we shared many pleasant conversations with during our stay. This will likely be our go-to place for future trips to my favorite city.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
This place is absolutely adorable. It feels so quaint while still being modern and meeting all your needs. The room was decorated just fabulously and felt so cozy. In addition to the great room itself, the staff are so incredibly friendly. The front desk person I spoke with and the owner were both so happy to help with everything and so very kind. In addition they have a really cute kitchen with food for breakfast and also for snacking throughout the day if you need it. It's also in a great part of town with everything you could need within walking distance. Overall a wonderful experience and if I ever need a hotel in Chicago again I will be staying at the Wicker Park Inn again.

Jaime D.

Yelp
We loved the room, the details were beautiful, the bed was so comfy, and the location was perfect. The bathroom and shower were awesome, and there are so many interesting spots near the Inn. Its the perfect place if you dont want a big hotel experience and want to really get to know the city. Stay here you wont regret it!!

Holly L.

Yelp
This was a beautiful b&b! The rooms are spacious, well decorated yet cozy and very clean (with modern bathrooms in each room!). The beds were high quality and VERY comfortable. My family and I needed to change up our holiday plans and it was the perfect spot to be together while having additional space. Contactless check-in made the experience feel very safe and the owner was very flexible/helpful in the booking process.

Yelp
Wicker Park Inn is a favorite place to stay in Chicago. Laura is very accommodating with last minute reservations and making sure her guests are comfortable. She is always in reach if needed and goes above and beyond for her guests.

Yelp
I stayed at the Wicker Park Inn for one night this past weekend. The staff was very accommodating, informative, and swift during check-in. They even upgraded me to a nicer room they had available! The room was clean, comfortable, and super accessible to the main drag of the Wicker Park neighborhood. It was the perfect place to stay. This will definitely be my go-to for future trips to Chicago!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at The Wicker Park Inn and had an incredible time! Very cozy, clean, and modern. I'm a total snob when it comes to where I stay when I travel and I would 10/10 stay here again! The owner Laura is very kind an incredibly accommodating! We even asked for a later check out time due to travel plans and she was more than happy to grant this request! We loved the Wicker Park area. It is very modern and lots of new developments! The Inn is also located on a very quiet private street and I immediately felt safe and ready to relax! Breakfast in the morning was delicious! Thank you Wicker Park Inn for making our Chicago stay extra special!

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay near the end of September. We honestly looked far and wide to find a decent place for a decent price in Chicago, still having some sort of access to downtown. This was our place! 5-star service, very clean, and extremely accommodating. I was told that typically you need an extended stay, but with the busy summer season ending, they made a single night work for us, and I'm so glad they did because I already have two people from home (Utah) staying with them on their next stay. I'm sorry I can't remember where I saw this, but they were extremely accommodating for us to drive into town and drop our things off at 11am, before normal check-in times, and to our surprise, everything was ready for us. Breakfast was so much better than any alternative hotel (I'm sure there are many high-priced hotels that contradict me). We were across the street, so we loaded our things into the car and walked across the street to where they serve breakfast. There was freshly brewed coffee, coffee cake, small ham and cheese croissant sandwiches, fresh fruit, OJ, and an assortment of other things in the fridge we didn't take (yogurt, things like that). They gave fantastic recommendations and even offered to help us reserve our architecture boat tour (they only book with The Architecture Foundation) (non-busy season, rainy weather, so we waited until the day of to purchase) - which is worth the time and money! The room we stayed in was the Garden room, bottom floor. We had the average amount of noise of people walking above us, with a few passer-bys on the sidewalk while our window was open. There was no train noise, safety concerns (big deal with a new baby). Go in knowing these are much older buildings, which makes them much more fun to stay in. They have obviously been renovated and well-cared for. The kitchenette was such a nice thing to have, and as a result, we saved money by not having to eat out every meal (as much as I wanted to). We really wish we could've spent more time in Wicker Park, because the area and stores are quaint and hip. Perfect mix of small town in a big city. Saw a bit more of a hipster crowd than I expected in the evenings. Seems to be filled with a lot of young professionals. Definitely worth your time dropping by. Downsides: A little bit of a walk (which is the case pretty much anywhere in the city), but not bad, to the El. Make sure to use directions to get there, we had to circle around because we missed our turn and because of the one-way streets. So not much downside at all! I always think it's worth putting the price I paid, cause it helps people ball-park the figures. We paid about $140 for the night (remember, slower time of year).

Yelp
We've stayed at Wicker Park for the past four Septembers for RiotFest- 3 trips in the Blue Line room, and this year in the Garden Apartment. We LOVE the Blue Line room- it's the perfect size for a long weekend with two travelers. The kitchen is stocked with the basic equipment (and it's HUGE). I'm pretty sure the bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept on, it really is one of my personal highlights of our stays. Yes, there is L noise- but isn't that part of the experience (?) and Wicker Park does disclose on their website the room may not be appropriate for light sleepers. I'm a light sleeper, and I rather enjoy the noise, it doesn't keep me awake and has only awakened me once (in 3 years). You do get used to it after a few hours, especially if you arrive late afternoon. We have noticed it takes a while to get hot water in the shower, but let's be honest, I'm looking for something less than glowing to say. So, you wait for the water to warm up for a minute or so. No big whoop. We stayed in the Garden apartment this year- which is not in the main building at 1329, but is across the street at 1326. Fun fact- 1326 N. Wicker Park Avenue is on the National Register of Historic Places. We're not in love with the Garden apartment, which isn't to say we hated it. Two large memory foam beds, which I didn't think were all that comfortable but I'm accustomed to a spring mattress. The kitchen is physically larger than the Blue Line room kitchen but I don't think it is as well equipped, primarily thanks to the lack of dishwasher. The room does have independent climate control, which is nice. We had extraordinarily LOUD and STOMPY upstairs neighbours for all of our stay, less one night. That's no fault of WPI, the didn't know they'd booked in a troupe of tap-dancing pachyderms. We did have a housekeeping issue in the Garden apartment that we discovered after the office closed on Thursday night, and Paul was there at a most reasonable "first thing" on Friday morning to correct it. It wasn't a major issue, but we appreciated that they took care of it so quickly. The room is a garden room, so that's basically basement. We found the room had a particular smell, especially after an overnight rain. Don't forget to change your parking permit daily- and to be honest, it's just easier to park the car, and use public transit. It can be difficult to find parking in the vicinity later in the evenings. You're walking distance from transit, nightlife, shops, some really good food at a really reasonable price for Chicago. I'd give the Blue Line room 4.75 stars, in spite of the train noise, and the Garden apartment a 3.75.

Yelp
I really know what to expect here after reading the Yelp reviews - so thanks, y'all! My husband and I stayed in the Tuscan room during our anniversary weekend in Chicago. We had read that the walls are thin, and they are - and the floors! I could hear the people above us stamping away. And there's the train noise... But we're New Yorkers, we tune it all out! This would NOT be a good B&B for light sleepers. The room was great, though - really great water pressure in the shower (that's important!) and I liked that we had our own private entrance. Tres romantique! Breakfast was good - in my opinion, a bit on the continental breakfast-side for being a bed and breakfast, but good nonetheless. I was really impressed with the staff. I realized after checking in and paying that I forgot to check in on Yelp for the 5% discount. I emailed the staff and the woman at the desk dropped off a check for the difference! I was really impressed. The part of town that Wicker Park Inn is in is great. Tons to do - it's basically the Brooklyn of Chicago. Go to Antique Taco - yum! I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This is a great place if you're looking for a less-than-private "B&B" feel.. if you're looking for a lowkey retreat without intrusion, external noise, or overbearing staff, look elsewhere. My partner and I were looking for a relaxing couple of nights away from school but found this place SO OVERBEARING. "Housekeeping" entered our room the first morning there (even though signs said they come every two days) while we were still in bed and did not require their services. Check out was at 11 the next day, and housekeeping pounded on the door twice before that time (once, uncomfortably, while I was in the shower). "Do not disturb" signs were not provided in my room. At 10:40 they pounded and yelled "CHECK OUT IS AT 11" through the door... uh, we knew that... and were out by 10:50. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. Felt more like staying at an overbearing parent's house than a restful getaway. We followed all of the many rules for the duration of our stay, left the room in great shape, and did not deserve that treatment. Calm down. Also worth mentioning: the sign in the bathroom threatening a $25 dollar charge for a single makeup stained pillowcase (w other price points listed drastically higher for other hotel essentials from there) made me feel on edge. I'm a good hotel guest, always sure to clean up after myself and treat spaces w respect. Why go into the hospitality business if you're going to be intrusive and threatening, while doing the bare minimum to make guests feel at ease? Maybe this just wasn't the right place for me... but, honestly, I'm a reasonable person who travels frequently and spends thousands of dollars on excellent hotels a year, none of which have ever made me feel so unwelcome. This leaves me wondering... who IS this place for?

Yelp
I flew into town for a wedding, so I needed a place to stay. The guy who I usually stay with was the person getting married, and I had reservations about taking a cab back with the bride and groom on their wedding night. Plus my sweet lady was with me. And I wanted to show her a good Chicago neighborhood. So I went with Wicker Park Inn. The guy who owns/runs this place is the nicest guy ever. A real dream boat. Congratulations on the new baby. Location wise, this place is unbeatable. While my other friends were staying at the W in a completely dead section of the Loop, I was down the street from a ton of good bars, eateries, and places to buy crap. Yes, the neighborhood has changed ("they" have been saying this for a long time already) but still is one of the best places to spend day or night, IMHO. We stayed in the Wicker Park room. Since it was summer, we didn't get to use the rad fireplace in the room. Tasteful design. Big bed. Decent bathroom. Issues: (1) The wall between our room and the next room was pretty thin. In fact, we could hear all about Lisa, Ben, and Jennifer's plans for the day. Not that big a deal for us, as Lisa, Ben, and Jennifer were out for most of the time we were in our room, but could be an issue if you and the other room stayed put for a good amount of time. (2) The room is on the ground floor, right next to the front door. So you hear people coming in and out. Not really a big deal, unless you like to get wrecked and then sleep in until 2 p.m., which I do. Then when normal people come in and out around 10 a.m., it gets mildly annoying. (3) The train is a next door neighbor. We were on the side away from the train, and we could hear it pretty well (through the chimney, me thinks). Not crazy "Seven" loud, but if you are a light sleeper, could be an issue. (4) The door to the room is a French door with a good size gap on the bottom. Granted, there are curtains on the inside, but it didn't feel like much of a barrier to the rest of the inn. It just felt weird being in the room with only a piece of cloth and glass between you and the rest of the world. (5) The room is on the first floor and the windows face the street. To get any sunlight, you have to open the curtains, so your business is pretty much on display to passers by. As you can tell from my issues, I am an intensely private light sleeper. And even though it's pretty hard these days to find a cool, original hotel, there is something comforting about the hermetically sealed commerical hotel room where you can't hear anything else when you shut the door. Maybe I'm just not a bed and breakfast person.

Yelp
Love. I stayed here with friends who were in town visiting for a girls weekend. This was a great choice. Tuscan room, private entrance, private bath, felt as though we were hanging out at a friend's house all weekend. Perfect location for getting out and about for dining and debauchery but also quaint inside for lounging and watching a bit of horrible TV (they have cable). Staff is incredibly nice and they do a great job taking care of the inn. I appreciate little special touches like complimentary makeup remover wipes in the bathroom and free parking passes! I don't typically like continental breakfasts and I definitely don't usually like interacting with other guests in the morning. However, the breakfast at the Inn was nice because they had a little something for everyone and the table was set quite nicely. We met some people from Brazil and it wasn't as weird as you might think having breakfast in your pj's with strangers might be. Definitely recommend this place not only for your guests but for yourself. Playing tourist in your own city has its perks!

Yelp
We stayed in the Tuscan room for four nights last week, and I would definitely stay there again. PROS: * excellent location within walking distance of shops, restaurants, bars, and music venues, not to mention the el, a grocery store, a drugstore, and a KMart (comes in handy when you show up in Chicago in December with no long underwear) * innkeepers and houskeeping staff were friendly and professional * cozy room with a lot of privacy -- the Tuscan room has a private entrance off to the side of the building, though, and most of the other rooms do not * comfortable bed * free wifi * parking permits for street parking are available, and street parking is easy to find CONS: * the entire building is operated by a single thermostat, meaning you have no control over the temperature of your room. Our room was so stiflingly hot we stripped down to our underwear as soon as we set foot in the door - and it was below freezing outside. * perhaps our neighbors were also stripping down to their underwear, because we could hear them through the wall having sex. They were so loud one night they actually woke me up. Ear plugs solved this problem.

Yelp
I'm so glad this is where I stayed for my first trip to Chicago. For starters, you probably can't find a better location in the city, especially for such a cheap price tag. It's a block off Milwaukee Ave and an easy 10 minute walk away from the Duncan L stop, so should you find yourself bored of exploring the Wicker Park neighborhood (a difficult feat), you can take the train to anywhere else in the city, easy peasy. We stayed in the Provence room, which is I think the smallest room (with the private bathroom located down the hall). It faces the street so I would venture to say it's also the "loudest" room in the house, but noise pollution was never a problem - and we stayed over the weekend when everyone was out and drunk. The only real noise I heard at night was the L going over its tracks in the distance, but it was hardly a nuisance. The quarters were slightly cramped, but this was mostly because we dumped our suitcases on the floor instead of using the closet. The inn owners are extremely nice and accommodating. They go out of their way to make sure you know how to get around the city. The rooms are stocked with cultural mags like Time Out Chicago, so you'll be able to make plans if you haven't made an itinerary. Breakfast is always set when you wake up in the morning with fresh fruits and pastries and housekeeping is cleaning everything up by noon. The owners live across the street as opposed to on the property, which is great because they are right there if something goes awry but it doesn't feel like you're imposing on a stranger's living space. Also, they let you store your luggage in the hall closet after you've checked out so you don't have to lug it around your last day in the city. In sum, I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Great location, with lots of options nearby for food and drinks. The staff was super helpful with parking, early check-in options, and any other questions we had with our stay. The rooms are quite nice, with comfortable beds.

Yelp
I was here just the other day, and I LOVE this place!! It's so cute, and ALL f the the rooms that I saw were immaculate. David, the GM was so sweet and helped us with any information we needed. He even went out and got a bottle of wine for us! That's the kind of service you can expect from a quality Inn such as this. The location is perfect. There's everything you could possible want just steps away. I'd definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't know where to start from... It does NOT get any better than this in hospitality industry, period! I travel a lot and I do know what it means to come back home after week of travelling the country..... I would never trade my bed for any of the hotels' I ve stayed in, and believe me, I ve seen some nice ones..... Until now. This place makes me feel not wanting to come back home. I don't want to leave! We booked somewhat reluctantly, based on a simple recomendation of a nearby full hotel... And what a blessing! Robin from the staff made us feel at home as soon as she run across the street to hang us the parking permits. We happen to occupy the Bucktown apartment and enjoyed the lavish, yet so stylish settings of a modern urban condo. The area reminded me of a quiet Bostonian Back Bay side street, yet it had something more to it... There are at least fifteen local restaurants within walking distance, choices are fantastic. From immaculate cleanness, through the soft and comfortable bedding, sparkling glass bath, fully equipped kitchen, to the Diego Riveira's prints on walls.... everything was quietly making me feel ... complete. I will, for the best of my knowledge, always stay at Wicker Park Inn, everytime I come to Chicago, even if it means sitting hours in traffic to cross the city to my job-related point....
