The 10 Best National Parks Around the World, According to T+L's A-List Advisors
"Another lesser-known option is Wicklow Mountains National Park just south of Dublin, with beautiful mountains and valleys that house Ireland's greatest ruined monastic city, Glendalough, which predates Ireland's cities." - Travel + Leisure Editors
This was bar none the best walking trail I got to see during my vacation to Ireland. The air was clean, the trees were stunning and the nearby old architecture was a fun site to see. This is a great place for a walk and to enjoy the beautiful Irish scenery.

It is an amazing place to visit. The nature is perfect, an unbelievable combination among the trees, rivers, waterfalls, lakes and mountains. One of the most beautiful landscapes that I've ever seen in my life.

If you visit Wicklow National Park, Glendalough is one area worth visiting. The round tower, church and cathedral ruins are all really interesting. There is also a great walk down to the lake.
Another area is Powerscourt waterfall and the Powerscourt house and gardens.
Driving across the mountains and going hiking is interesting, but you need to find good paths, as there is lots of boggy ground, which will result in wet feet. There are lovely walks all around Sally Gap and Lough Tay.
I would certainly recommend a visit here to do some sightseeing and hiking.

I don't have a car, but I'm working out a route using Google Maps. sometimes it's a train, sometimes a bus, a lot of walking, but this park is worth the effort, you can get to the beautiful natural locations in this park from Dublin. don't be afraid to travel, and thanks to the developers of Google Maps!

This national park is a stunning place in the heart of Wicklow mountains. There are several walking trails ranking from easier ones to harder ones where you'll need better shoes. You can get a map of them in the Visitor Centre in Glendalough. There are some stalls with refreshment and some stalls with souvenirs.
Except hiking you can also enjoy visiting the monastic site and several churches scattered in the valley. Those who want to know more can visit the Visitor Centre, see the exhibition as well as join a guided tour.
