Wild Dunes Resort - Sweetgrass Inn and Boardwalk Inn, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Cool resort with lots of activities in walking distance. Gym has lots of equipment (treadmills, bikes, TRX, free weights). Coffee is available in lobby. Short walk to the beach with exceptional ocean views. Recommend splurging on a massage at the Spa, I got 2 and both probably were best massages I’ve ever gotten. Overall great place for some R&R.

Good resort, but quite overpriced. The interior is nice and feels like a small private town, with everything you need: restaurants, bars, pools, and more. However, there isn’t much of interest within walking distance outside the resort, aside from expensive houses. Keep in mind that it can take a long time to get an Uber or Lyft to go out. A ride to downtown Charleston can cost $60–$70 and may take a 30–40 minute wait, so it’s best to book in advance. On the other hand, rides from downtown Charleston to the resort typically cost $25–$30.

Went for a long weekend. The lamp on left side of the bed did not work and the rooms had no ceiling lights. We love to have a sweet treat on vacation but their “sweet shop” was lacking. The ice cream was so freezer burnt it changed colors as she scooped. I also tried ordering a hot fudge sundae and she said they had no hot fudge. We did come on the off season but thought they’d still stock their stores. The hotel was nice in refunding for the ice cream, however the few bites I did have made me feel ill. The hot tub felt like a heated pool. I requested for the temperature to be increased politely on their messaging system and they said they’d let the engineer know, I went back two days later and it was the same. I personally stayed at this hotel for the hot tub as most places did not have one. The overall vibe of the hotel was nice, I just think quality and attention to detail need to be worked on.

As returning guests, we found the Wild Dunes as welcoming and hospitable as on our previous visit. As a long time Globalist, it wonderful to see the property fully integrated into the World of Hyatt. The purpose of this visit was to explore the Wild Dunes as a wedding venue for our daughter’s upcoming wedding. Getting everything organized we called upon Corinne Corbishley to oversee arrangements for our stay. Corinne’s efforts exceeded our expectations as they have in the past. Doris Rodriguez, Senior Events Manager, provided an exceptional tour and overview of what the Wild Dunes has to offer as a wedding venue. A few individuals also stood out for the level of service and hospitality shown to our entire family. Joe, at the front desk, Chris at Costal Provisions, Bobby at Hudson’s Market, Lindsey, every morning, at the Oystercatcher and Susana in Housekeeping. We will certainly look forward to planning a return visit to the Wild Dunes.

We had a fantastic stay and much of the credit goes to the incredibly helpful and positive staff! Suzanne kindly took care of all our requests and surprised us on the special weekend for my wife too, much appreciated! We will now will be coming back annually as we have stayed at the Sawgrass before and in a home at the end of the island, but the Boardwalk truly works so well for us! Thomas was great re the SUV, Dany confirmed the perfect room, Camille was wonderful on the phone and we enjoyed getting to know Carol. Doig was very informative and efficient at the Pool Bar and the cleaning crew was always pleasant and thorough re the room and outdoor spaces. We truly could not identify one concern. We are already thinking about our next booking, thank you to everyone!

This is the second time we stayed at the Sweet Grass Inn! We were there this past weekend for my 17th year wedding anniversary and everything was perfect!! The room 533 was ocean facing, modern with coastal vibes and so clean. The bathroom has the detachable shower head and was also very clean and updated. We love it there and can’t wait to go back with our family! It’s so close to Charleston and other areas you may want to visit!

I stayed in Building A, Suite 205/207 at The Residences and it was fantastic. The suites were just fully renovated and everything feels brand new, modern, and very high-end. The bedrooms are super comfortable, the bathrooms feel like a spa with walk-in showers, and the living areas are stylish yet inviting. All the little touches—luxury finishes, upgraded appliances, and thoughtful design—make the space feel more like a luxury condo than a hotel room. On top of that, the location is perfect. It’s just a short walk to great restaurants, shops, the beach, and the pool, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, Suite 205/207 combines comfort, convenience, and upscale design in a way that made my trip truly memorable.

We had a good experience here at the Boardwalk Inn on Isle of Palms. Room was comfortable and spacious with a sofa bed. The Staff here are courteous and helpful. Pool here is nice but the sister hotel Sweetgrass Inn has much bigger pool with excellent bar set up. So that is the only downside is having to walk over to the other pool and also beach access is over there as well. So easy 4 Stars !!

A was lucky enough to stay here right when they reopened during covid. My good friends were getting married and we were staying here, wedding on the beach and reception across the way. I will say that it was extra great because they had only opened days before so it was a ghost town and we practically had the hotel to ourselves. I pulled up unsure if I was in the right place so I parked under the awning and went into ask. The woman at the front desk assured me I was and directed me to the pool area where they were hanging out. She told me to leave me car for the moment and go say hi so I did. I came back to move it and grab my stuff and she said parking wasn't an issue that weekend so I could just pull my car forward a little and leave it for the weekend... VIP spot! The room I was in was great! It was a large suite with a couch and chairs, dining table, wet bar, and then a separate bedroom area. There was a door to a private patio that had our own access gate to the pool deck which was amazing. Speaking of the pool, it was the epitome of relaxation and the best part... adults only. Don't worry, there are a couple pools down the boardwalk where your hellions can swim. I'll take the quiet pool anyday! The staff were very helpful. They had sanitizer and masks right at the front door. The beach is a short walk down the boardwalk. And the room was amazing. I didn't get to try any eats because not everything was open except the place on the beach (which was wildly expensive), but I would love to stay here again.

After working with Wild Dunes, I can be the first to say the bed bug issue is exaggerated. they clean the rooms daily.

This place is beautiful and there is always something to do. I would stay again in a heartbeat. I grew up lose Atlantic city, wildwood, and Ocean City so it wasn't a real boardwalk, but it did a great job paying homage to boardwalks. They have an adult only pool which I love and everything is very close to the beach.

Rooms were clean and cozy. Many basic amenities were provided in the room which makes it easy when traveling. The body wash (Nest - Sicilian Tangerine) smelled amazing! For each night you choose to "Go Green" and not have housekeeping turn down your room you receive a $5 credit toward food and beverage at the resort!

We stayed here in October 2020. The first room they placed us in was very dated and beat up. They added charges to my credit card and even after I asked for an actual receipt showing the charges, I only got an overall statement for the total stay. Then today in November, I get another additional charge on my credit card from them. We have stayed here in the past number of years, but I'm not seeing the value anymore. So sad.

The Boardwalk Inn is the hotel portion of the Wild Dunes old Southern beach and golf retreat for a relaxing, low activity level get away. Hotel rooms vary among standard hotel room, suites and villas so be sure to ask questions and reserve the accommodations you prefer. The same goes for the view. There is a big new construction site so ask to make sure your view is not blocked. I had a lovely suite with a full kitchen, living room/dining room facing a street - nice for a work conference, but not for a beach vacation for me or family. The property has golf, clays court tennis, multiple pools, restaurant, bike paths and a large ocean front beach area. The Isle of Palms beach is wide and great for walking. Staff is very friendly. Late checkout is early at 12pm so plan accordingly. *Note: some amenities closed in off season. Relaxing, peaceful club type experience.

One of my new favorite places to stay! The staff has been very helpful and friendly and it is a short walk to the beach on the boardwalk. Everything we needed was within walking distance, including bike rentals! Also, the pool was adult only, which isn't ideal for everyone but for us on an anniversary trip, was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

I booked a room at the Boardwalk Inn after seeing lovely photos and researching its location. Instead they put me two buildings further from the beach and a solid walk from the pool and other amenities. The room looked like a holiday inn or other mediocre place with old furniture and a musty smell. Only view was of a building 20 feel away. I complained, and the staff refused to move me to the property that I was paying for. The staff at the front desk were rude. My booking paperwork said I was booked at the Boardwalk Inn...not at some "residences" at Sweetgrass. we couldn't even park near our building since they turned the parking garage under my building into valet parking for the Boardwalk Inn. Talk about adding insult to injury! I used to practically live in hotels and am not one to complain unless things are REALLY BAD. Do not stay here.

Excellent hotel and resort with lots of amenities and it is right on the ocean too. Definitely worth the price.
