You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to fresh fish. I purchase a few salmon filets every two weeks and I haven't found a better place with fresher fish. Cooked or raw it's always a delight to have a piece of fresh fish. They are caught locally and cut on site. 10/10 would tip their mongers

This is a little higher in the wall fish counter with super fresh local fish as well as fish from lots of other places.

I’ve gone into this seafood market on several occasions, the seafood always looks to be top quality, but the stench is unbearable. I get it’s a seafood market and there is always going to be a linger odor, but this is way beyond that. My family is in the fishing industry so I have been through many seafood plants and markets and never have I have I been so overwhelmed by the stench. Maybe there are issues with the drains, I don’t know, but I do know that is the only thing that keeps me from buying seafood from this establishment.

The White sea bass was really fresh BUT, the stone crab claws had been frozen to long, the meat fell apart in crumbles, Plus the frozen prawns were the size of popcorn shrimp. They weren't prawns, but rock shrimp, I'm thinking the owner believes people are idiots. I sure feel like one spending over $100.00, Never again will I go back there! You want Great Fresh Seafood, the fish drive thru in Oak View is the best place in Ventura County.

I ran into Wild Local Seafood while on a job installing some equipment at their shop in Ventura. Ben, the owner gave me a great explanation of the fish and their mission statement (in which I highly support) of sustainable seafood. The quality is fantastic. They have loads of fresh seafood and their staff is friendly and down to earth. I'm very excited that you can now find them at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market as well!!

The best fish market I have ever been to. Great selection of sustainably caught mostly local fish. The fish in their case is absolutely fresh, often coming in within hours. Great knowledgeable staff. Once I tried their fish I never want to buy anywhere else.

Have been wanting to check out this place for a while and I finally made my way there on a Sunday afternoon. They didn't have much left for sale after the Saturday Fisherman's Market. The staff was helpful and told me they'll have new catches available on Friday. I went back Friday after work and there was a lot more items to choose from. The sea urchin was calling out to me so I had to buy two trays since one is never enough. I was hoping to get some cerviche too but it wouldn't be ready for another half hour. I also got the ahi tuna, coho salmon and California halibut. Everything was very fresh and delicious! This is definitely a great spot to get fresh seafood, especially if you don't want to wait until the Saturday market.

Good service, great fresh fish! This is much better fish than several of the nearby fish markets. Insider tip: check the folding write- on board for the fresh fish.

If you're longing to eat fresh sashimi or any type of seafood, come to Wild Local in Ventura Harbor next to Andria's Seafood Restaurant. Wild Local source their fishes from local fisherman in the area and allow you to watch them cut into pieces. They have all kinds: large shrimps, lobster, crabs, tuna, halibut, cods and many more. Tonight, I bought a pound and a half of Bluefin Tuna and cut into shashimi sized pieces, it's gloriously tasty and not fishy. The guy even gave me a lemon for my shashimi, what a neighborhood market. So, if you wanted to done on fresh seafood, come to the real fresh fish source and enjoy true seafood NOT frozen from thousands of miles away.

Searching for fresh caught seafood while visiting the area. Scored California Halibut. Beautiful filet, not one bone, sweet sea smelling. You know that means FRESH. Will be back. Service was knowledgeable.

Finding this place changed the game for fresh seafood for me! I was just visiting the area for the weekend and was suggested to look at the Ventura Harbor Village for the seafood market and happened by this store! Walking in from the parking lot I couldn't tell much but when I walked inside and got a chance to meet the people inside and how it was being operated, I found that this place is totally a local hotspot for freshly caught seafood! It was around noon when I went the first time and they were still setting up the catch they got but was suggested to come back later when all the boats have finished unloading their catch. We tried the uní for our first visit. The uni was absolutely awesome especially after being able to talk to the person who JUST CAUGHT it a couple hours before! Now that's fresh! Our second visit was around 530pm when they were fully stocked and we got the crab claws and halibut. After our purchase, we also got advice on how to prepare our food which is great when trying something new. All in all, this place is a great place to get fresh, local seafood! I would definitely, absolutely, recommend!

I came across this gem at Hollywood Farmers' Market. Got the black cod and skate wing. I basted the cod in olive oil and smashed garlic and broiled it in the oven. Let me tell you this is the best fish I have ever had in my life. Taste and texture is like butter and I'm not exaggerating. The closest experience I had was when I baked a trout caught on the same day in the Tampa Bay.

great local lobsters and a huge help packing them in the ice chest. gave me a piece of cardboard to keep them out of melted ice. $$$$

They had the freshest Uni that I've ever eaten. The guy at the counter steered me to some black cod as well which I steamed, and it was absolutely the best whitefish I've ever had in my life. They have got the fresh goods! What a treasure to have this store right in our backyard.

This fish is so fresh and is absolutely the best we've found in the area. We got the salmon today and it was incredible. Friendly and helpful staff, they have even taken an order over the phone and brought the credit card machine and my fish to my car when I had my baby with me and didn't want to have to get him out and back in. Lovely business, I'd highly recommend them. We're lucky to have them!

I'm just a seafood lover and every time my husband and I are at our beach house,We'll try to find a good spot to grab some fresh seafood for our dinner.Today we discover this place. First of all,I did called them to see if they have any Dungeness crabs but they don't answer the phone,Which is ok they might be busy but Guess what?! About half an hour later I got a phone called from "Ben" he's return my called and answer all the questions I had.I didn't even leave the voice mail or anything! OMG! That's just blew my mind.Hands down the best customers service ever! So today they don't have Dungeness because it was almost the end of season but they do have a local crab claws,Which we got 2 bags of it and a bag of spot prawn,Which they caught this morning.The staffs was really nice and friendly. I did cooked all of them for dinner and it's so fresh and yummy,No more any other place for us when we're thinking about fresh seafood.Definitely this place and this place only

Get the smoked fish salad and skip the ceviche. It was forgettable. That the smoked dish salad is the absolutely delicious. Another must is the locally caught sustainable seafood. I bought the black cod to make Nobu's miso marinated black cod. The uni I tried that was delivered "this morning" from Santa Barbara was not sweet. Looks like I still need to make the drive to Smorgasburg DTLA or the Santa Barbara Fish Market for sweeter or more fresh uni freshly caught from Channel Islands.

HIGH QUALITY FRESH LOCAL FISH IN VENTURA!!!!! C'MON Millenial's it's your time to change the Ventura Food Game and start supporting sustainable high quality local food. You don't have to drive to Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, or Ojai. God knows the Boomers could give a shit about good food in Ventura "it's too expensive" or "the portions were too small", "blah blah blah". Eat Well my friends life is too short. Quality over quantity always....

We were in town and had impromptu dinner plans. Grilling fish is quick and easy. Where to go?? Wild Local Seafood came up in Google search. They had good Yelp reviews. We decided to give them a try. Great service! Fish was so fresh and delicious. Salmon was fresh, wild caught, previously frozen but was amazing!! The halibut was very fresh. I highly recommend Wild Local Seafood.

The best Yellow tail ever. I had the most pleasant experience happening upon Wild Local Seafood (WLS) market. Austin halped me and thoroughly explained his suggestions to me. He was knowledgable, patient, and courteous. WLS has the greatest fish and customer service. This is definitely my go to fish market. Thank you Austin!

Wow - buttery perfect Ahi. The Opah was also excellent but man the Ahi was so perfect. BBQ with a sear , pink in the middle. So, so good. Man I am coming back to grab some more!

This review relates only to the fish we've bought at the Long Beach Sunday farmers' market. It's pretty much hit or miss, with lots of misses. We've had nasty shrimp of uneven size and quality. The snapper we recently bought was skanky. Rock fish and snapper are sold skin-on which I've never seen anywhere else. We've had good salmon, halibut, and black cod, but we won't venture beyond those any more.

I didn't go here. But I called and had the nicest chat with Ben he told me everything he has in stock and what he's getting in the next few days. And he mentioned to call a day before and put an order in! He is cool. I'll totally come to home when I'm back up here.

The only sustainable fish market around. Fresh, local, wild. Everything I've bought here has been absolutely delicious.

These guys are beyond amazing. The fish is heaven. We usually grab something from them at least once a month and it's so good. All of it. Living in Orange County, we found them at the Long Beach Market and they've going above and beyond during the pandemic. We really appreciate what they do. I usually only write reviews for the ones that are far and above the best and these guys a tremendous. Phenomenal product and customer service, you can't beat it. Mahalo, and kudos.

Excellent. Ben was helpful, explained things well and the fish was FRESH.... off the boat in last day and the selection, preparation and packaging was excellent. And the dinners?.... outstanding. Beyond excellent. The cooking tips Ben gave us were soooo helpful. Thank you. We are now twice a week customers.

Always a great experience ! This was my second time and finally made time to visit on a Tuesday. Met Ben in person and he was super helpful as he was over the phone. Made a great meal for the family tonight with the fresh Ahi and yellow tail! Definitely will try the red snapper next time that he recommended

I love coming to this fish market. The proprietors are so knowledgeable and super nice. The smoked cod was soooo good. I'm looking forward to eating the beautiful sea bass collar. Please support these wonderful people. Billie

We love fish. We love local. We love great service. Wild local seafood has it all. When we get to the farmers market, we buy there, but they also have an amazing deliver service which we just used for the third time. Ordered earlier today around 11am, got the confirmation of the order and it will be delivered tomorrow early afternoon! What an amazing turn-around. Got the crab claws again, simply fantastic and the salmon beats just about any other I have had. Not that the rest of the offerings should be shunned. If you want fresh, local fish, give them a chance, you will be thrilled you did!

I showed up to grab a couple of lbs today but they were sold out of everything but the salmon. I can't wait to come back and get some fresh local catch. Word to the wise, they put out the fresh fish Tuesday's, Thursday's, and Saturday's. their fresh frozen is still local and was frozen shortly after being caught. Again, fresh from the counter or fresh frozen, it is local and caught within days of consumption.

Read about this place before it opened in the Ventura local paper. I got pretty excited and turned up the first or second day they were open. It was still only half open but totally lived up to the hype. The owner was there and I got a free 15 minute education on local caught fish. Super nice guy, and incredibly knowledgeable. But it was the Salmon that stole the show!!! Sure it's twice the price of Ralph's or Vons, but soooo worth it! The poke I made with it was priceless... Been back now about once a week, tried halibut, tuna, yellowtail, and the ceviche. All awesome! Freshest fish in Socal, and 100% sustainably caught! Five Stars plus.

Great place to pick up fresh... I mean caught earlier today or yesterday.. fish. Prices are good .. they are equal to other competing fresh fish spots. Very knowledgeable staff. They can recommend what type of fish to get wether baking.. BBQ., ect. They also will explain the more rare types of fish other than the usual salmon ect.. in a way that is understandable. Highly recommended checking them out.. Andreas restaurant is right across the way.. and their prices were the same or a little higher but their fish in their market is not as fresh as here. They vacuum seal pieces of fish at some crazy number like 30 below zero so it's gonna stay fresh!

I came in today because I saw they had ridgeback prawns (turns out they don't actually have them till October) But I ended up buying a few "salmon shoulders". I had never had them or even heard of that cut of salmon, but the employee helping us was very informative and explained how to cook and eat them. When I got them home they were a bit intimidating looking, but we cooked them up as directed and let me tell you it was AMAZING!! Best salmon me & my mom have ever eaten. Which is saying something as we both have lived in the pacific north west and eaten our fare share of salmon. I feel like I need to go back soon so my husband can try it. Will definitely shop here again when I'm in Ventura.

Their wild caught King Salmon is to die for. The quality of these bad boys is amazing. Will definitely be coming back again when I visit this beach city. :)

These folks are really nice and very helpful. I went there for Father's Day weekend to pick up some fresh fish to cook for my family for the special occasion and they had exactly the type of fish I wanted, cleaned it up for me, and was on my way home one happy camper. I would happily go back. Father's Day lunch was a success.

Absolutely awesome fresh fish. This place has the most fresh variety of all seafood at very reasonable prices. They are a place that local fishermen sell their catch.

This place is the perfect blend of service and quality. Cooked fresh halibut for dinner tonight and it was delicious. Ben was extremely helpful at the counter and got us a really great cut of fish. My kids loved watching through the back window as the guys prepared our fish. We will definitely be back!

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. We bought some Angel Shark that so fresh it was still twitching, and cooked it within hours for a DELICIOUS dinner! Also scored some fabulous Toro cut Tuna. Outstanding fresh fish market!

Love this place. Staff is the best, knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. Seafood is the freshest you're gonna get unless you catch it yourself.
