Wildcard - SilverKris

"“Almost hidden in a cozy nook at Furama Waterfront, Wildcard is a curved, lo-fi space that feels welcoming the moment you step in the door. The food, by Head Chef Angelo Maniam, is creative yet unpretentious – a simple dish like fried broccolini, for instance, becomes irresistibly moreish with tea leaf dust, green chilli raita and a kicky fermented chilli padi. It’s hard to pick favourites from such a stacked menu, but the torched mackerel with gochujang butter and the messy-but-delicious prawn sando with celeriac remoulade are must-tries. Not sure which wine to choose? General Manager Aina Dutartre is always on hand to recommend a bottle. It’s here where we discovered Lazarus Pulp, Indonesia’s first Pét-Nat. If cocktails are more your speed, have a negroni from London’s famed Bar Termini. Poured from a bottle, it’s always perfectly balanced. On Thursdays, the night turns soulful from 9pm. The mood is eclectic and improvisational, as a coterie of jazz artists take the stage.”" - Ben Chin

We seated on high chairs - not exactly comfortable. I have to say, the food was not bad...so were the drinks. We ordered a couple of small plates and 2 mains...for a party of 4. As it was Thursday, there was a Live band. Due to the space, having a 4-5pc band pretty much drowned out our conversation. Fortunately, the food and drinks were good. Will come back for the brunch. At least, am sure there will be no live band.

Finally checked out this spot, unfortunately didn’t get the chance to try their food as I came during midday around 4pm and the kitchen was closed. Had a couple of hot drinks including their coffee and all of them were good. Definitely a vibey spot although I can see it can be a little cramped as the crowd comes in during dinner time. Would be keen to come back to check out their food menu sometimes

We went for breakfast, so they only have light bites. Their coffee filters are really good. Full of flavour, hut very pricey. Their banana bread are so soft and buttery. So good.

Went on a Thursday night. Felt like we entered into a parallel dimension with impromptu jazz music! What a beautiful night :) food was amazing and the wines were top notch. I’d highly recommend this place!

Really complex flavours but I wished the portions were slightly bigger. 😓 - House-made Focaccia bread with Anchovy Butter (insanely tasty butter!!! 🧈🐟) - Torched Mackerel with Gochujang Butter - Prawn Sando - Mezzi Rigatoni (the sauce 😮‍💨) - Oxtail Donut (savoury donut, I was recommended this dish and ITS GREAT but somehow it’s not a standout dish for me) - Sticky Toffee Pudding (crazy good, we devoured) Overall, I still think the price paid was worth it although portions were small. But I also wasn’t blown away by the dishes I tried, maybe impressed yes. However, I don’t think I will be dying to come back for another visit. Also a side note, I didn’t feel like the waiters were very friendly here- just a little cold 🥶 they could afford to be more personable. Also, the lighting at the table is very bad. With such beautiful dishes, I wish I could take nice photos of them.

gloriously sickening place, in the best way. how did it take us so long to find this place? and how grateful that it exists. first: a wine bar that has a diverse, fun selection of drinks to sip / glug / gargle as you please. second: a wine bar that actually has fabulous food. sexually charged food actually - chef ahmir & team are food fairygodparents turning regular kale-laced beetroot into luscious meaty mouthfeels, oxtail croquettes that leak onto your tongue with flavour and prawn sando that makes you reconsider all the buns you’ve handled in your life. third - as we were appreciating the wonderful service, we were so surprised to see random people slipping in and out of the corner where the jazz band was playing and upon kaypoh enquiry, found out they host a weekly ground-up jazz night that is totally community-led but supported by denise & her wildcard team’s drive to carve out spaces where anybody can keep doing what they love or find fun, no matter how old they are, or what career path they chose. in times where f&b, culture, arts, heritage, passion, joy have very little space to thrive, this is the sort of space we should keep on supporting & dancing at.

The place was so vibey (just a comment, the plastic chairs used were a little out of the place) Nestled within furama riverfront complex. The food was 10/10! We had the home made foccacia (don’t miss this), torched mackerel (must try), Rigatoni (this was so good, must try), sticky toffee pudding (must try, as good as PS Cafe sticky date pudding) & the oxtail donut (would prefer that the shell is not a donut, but something crispy to complement the fillings) My wife and I loved the place! Would definitely recommend and come back again

Chanced upon this bar while at Furama Hotel for an event. Totally unexpected but full of pleasant surprises! Loved the service, the bar snacks, and the live jazz on Thurs night. Definitely coming back soon!
