Wildcatter Ranch & Resort + Steakhouse

My wife and two sons (now 24 and 21) had an extremely positive stay at Wildcatter Ranch & Resort + Steakhouse, and it felt great to return after 11 years. The staff here are incredibly accommodating — they answered every question we had, and if they didn’t know something, they made sure to find out and get back to us right away. Kudos to Shannon for going above and beyond. Prices throughout the resort were very reasonable, which was a pleasant surprise. The ranch hands were wonderful, especially Grace, who made the experience feel personal and welcoming. Skeet shooting and the shooting range were absolute highlights — so much fun, and the views around the ranch were truly breathtaking. The restaurant was very good overall. The steaks were excellent, but the pork ribeye and halibut were unfortunately so salty they weren’t edible. Breakfast was solid, though we would have loved a bit more variety for guests staying multiple days — something like oatmeal with “fixins” would go a long way. We stayed in cabins 1 and 2. They were pretty clean, though they could use a little updating at this point. Despite a few small issues, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. Wildcatter remains a special place for us, and it was wonderful to return after more than a decade and still feel that same charm.

Beautiful location with a stunning view of the sunset. Big cabin room (Graham’s Family), with cute fireplace and alot of space and stunning view. (Stone floor so bring indoor shoes or warm socks, if u come on cold night). Great including and welcoming staff. Got saved by one of the wranglers borrowing me their jacket for the morning ride in the cold weather THANK U! If u need to relax this is the place. Had some great conversation with everyone I met, good steak at the steak house. Not far from graham town if u wanna do some shopping. (5 min drive). Or Possum Kingdom for a drink, I recommend Boonsdock local bar. Recommend having a car to get around on the proparty aswell. Favourite moment seeing the sunset from the hot tub.

We had the best stay at the Wildcatter Ranch! We stayed in one of the cabins and there was so much room for our family of 4 plus our dogs. The cabin was so great and we had the best view outside our back door! The staff was very helpful, especially Shannon. She's the best person with great energy. The food at the steakhouse was delicious, I can't recommend their Chicken Fried Strak enough and their daily breakfast. We will definitely come back again for another visit!

This place is perfect for a casual / rustic family trip or a work outing, however it really didn’t fit my vibe. I came for a couple of nights for a little peaceful retreat and I didn’t really feel like I got that. The cabin rooms are all connected, and the porch views are beautiful, but you have absolutely no privacy. I would’ve loved to sit on the back porch and relax with my coffee and the view, however there were multiple families with small kids a few feet away from me. This is by NO means anyone’s fault, just not my preference! The walls are also VERY thin, so you can hear every tiny noise from your neighbors throughout the night. Also, there’s a bunch of reviews mentioning a spa, however the spa doesn’t exist yet. I’m not sure if these are being paid for in anticipation / to get people excited, but that was super misleading to me. There’s nothing I love more than a hike and a nice spa, and that was a major bummer. The restaurant was fine- the food is SUPER heavy southern cooking, so brace yourself. I would’ve preferred more options / something more gourmet, but again, that’s totally just a preference and by no means am I saying it’s bad. Overall if the cabins were private / separate, the spa existed, and there were more dining options, it would be perfect.

We spent NYE at Wildcatter Ranch and enjoyed it a lot. This is a retreat for ones who appreciate nature, a star- lit sky, and the Texas hill country. It will not disappoint. Watching the sunset on the back porch was a highlight. The walking trails are wooded and lined with beautiful native rocks. We didn’t use the pool but it’s an infinity pool with a nice view next to a hot tub. Our party stayed in both hotel and cabins. I’d definitely recommend a cabin. The hotel needs some updating but with new owners, it all takes time. The cabins are more spacious and better appointed. As far as food goes, breakfast at the Steakhouse was excellent. The catered NYE dinner, mediocre. My family will keep this place on the radar to bring our grandkids one day. There are many “ranch” and nature activities for all, but plan to pay an upper end market price with 20% gratuity automatically added to most.

My husband and I visited from Staten Island and spent three days exploring the Stockyards before heading to Wildcatter Ranch for the true Texas experience — and it did not disappoint! We stayed in one of the cabins, which was comfortable and had a lovely outdoor seating area to take in the stunning landscape. The property is beautifully maintained, and we took part in several activities (all worth it). Our morning horseback ride (90 minutes) was incredible, and as first-time riders, the Wranglers were patient, encouraging, and excellent coaches. The evening sunset ride was equally memorable, even on an overcast day, thanks to Clint and Abbey. They were personable, funny, and made our experience so enjoyable — I’m sure they got a kick out of two city folks learning the ropes! We also tried horse grooming and skeet shooting — both a lot of fun. The onsite restaurant is simple but fantastic. The steaks were delicious, and the breakfast buffet was just as good — don’t miss the biscuits at both breakfast and dinner. The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. Everyone we interacted with was kind, accommodating, and genuinely welcoming. We even explored the small town of Graham, which added another fun layer to our trip. Overall, Wildcatter Ranch is a must-visit for anyone wanting to truly experience Texas. It captures everything that makes Texas unique, from the landscape to the activities to the people. We had a good stay in september 2025. |We initially booked a cabin suite, which was very nice. The view on the patio was stunning. Inside is very spacious. |We went to have dinner at the restaurant on site, when we came back, there were lots of crickets at the front door. Going in, there was some that came in. We got rid of them, but then we saw them everywhere. They kept coming, even through the door! There were too many for our liking, so we went to back to the main building. They provided a room for us there. We were pleased with this (cricket-free 😉) solution. |Breakfast was tasteful but not too extended. |We assumed that the ranch was still working or had some more activities for us. That was a bit of a minor. ||Overall, yes, we would recommend but be warned of the crickets in summertime.

We had a professional group of 21 people, from across the US, and Wildcatter was PERFECT!!! Teambuilding activities were fun and engaging. Rooms in cabins were great and we had such a great view. Service for everything was friendly and accommodating. The main house was a great place for us to gather informally and also to do our leadership segment. Wildcatter's own Dr Kalli Doubleday, was our guest speaker and she was even better than we had hoped!!! We will definitely keep Wildcatter on our list for future meetings!!!

Unforgettable Texas Experience - Wildcatter Steakhouse Wildcatter Ranch & Steakhouse is the kind of place that stays with you long after the visit ends. I came here during a work trip and didn't stay at the resort itself, but I had the chance to enjoy dinner at the steakhouse--and honestly, it turned out to be one of the most memorable meals I've had in Texas. What I Ordered: * Sunset Salad - Fresh, crisp, and the perfect light start to the meal. * Ribeye Steak - Cooked exactly how I like it: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. * Baked Potato - Classic and satisfying, served piping hot with all the toppings. But let's talk about that bread and butter--served warm, fluffy, and fresh out of the oven. It was so good that I had to ask for another round. They brought it out with a smile, and I would go back for the bread alone! Beyond the Food: Even though I didn't stay at the resort, just being on the ranch was an experience. I got to see Longhorns for the first time, and the ranch has horses, shooting activities, and events that give you a real taste of Texas culture. The setting is peaceful, scenic, and totally unique. Service: The staff was friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome from start to finish. Whether you're staying at the resort or just passing through the area, Wildcatter Steakhouse is 100% worth a visit. Great food, Texas charm, and an atmosphere that truly feels like an escape. Highly recommend!

The ranch was a great retreat for our group. We had 23 attendees. The cabins and accommodation were good, team building activities fun and valuable. The estate house was incredible!!!. The food could be upgraded. Service and staff was good. I'd take a group back again.

Let me start off by saying, Laura, Grace & Felicity, the 3 staff I interacted with were all amazing, very nice, professional and courteous. With that however, I have 2 main grievances with WildCatter. #1- you can't book activities for the same day as your arrival day. Meaning, if you only come for 1 night, your activities are VERY limited. There is no detail as to why not, they just don't allow it, doesn't make sense to me, but this was frustrating and I only found out AFTER I booked with them. #2- The ONE activity exception to the above was the Sunset Trail Ride, and somehow it was double booked, however these rides are apparently private (doesn't say that anywhere), and because of that I couldn't even enjoy 1 activity. Apparently the other group wasn't ok sharing the ride, so we got booted... The team tried to make these issues work, but I just don't think they're empowered to fix issues. They told me I can do the activities the next day, but would have no late check out, so I'd have to sort of just hang around waiting without a room for next activity. Then when they oversold the sunset ride, they offered to send me a charcuterie board which I guess was nice of them, but that's it. They said I could ride the next morning, but for the full price, no discount or compensation; obviously I said no because the morning rides vs sunset rides were day / night (literally). I think they seriously dropped the ball in overbooking my trail ride, and then not even compensating for the error at all (just a charcuterie board). For me, I don't know that I'd come back, I just don't feel like they tried, everything was a mission and a rule. No dinner after 8:30, No Activities on first day, no exception to late checkout, activities are very limited to the specific times. It just wasn't convenient. I would say likely booking 2+ nights would make the difference but I was just looking for a quick getaway. Place is beautiful,rooms are nice and spacious, views are nice too. Didn't get to see any horses, and there was only like 5 long horns super far away. Steakhouse food was good and quick. That's about it. Again, staff was super nice, but seems like management doesn't take into account convenience. Everything the staff did was always checking with owners if they can do this or do that, almost as if they were scared to make decisions. I likely won't be coming back, I'll look at another Ranch in the future.

This review is specific to the steakhouse. First the good: The jalapeño poppers, biscuits and salads were pretty good. The sides that came with the meals, such as green beans, carrots, and spud were alright. We sat on the patio which was beautiful. And the staff was friendly. The bad: We ordered 3 expensive NY strip steaks and every one of them were poorly seasoned, chewy, and gristly. It seemed like low quality meat and, for our dinner, it was supposed to be the star of the show. Very disappointing, especially for the price. We also ordered Halibut which was just ok but a bit dry, again, for the price, not worth it. We won't be coming back. This place is way too expensive to take a chance that it might be good next time.

We have been coming to wildcatter Ranch for the past 10 years. we live in Dallas, and this is an excellent and serene setting for someone who needs a break away from their grind of city life... it's a beautiful ranch with great restaurant and friendly people. Lots of stuff to do for a family - We can't wait to keep coming back more often. Our favorite is the OT cabin.

My wife and I spent a weekend at the resort. We stayed in the main hotel building on the second floor. The rooms have inside doors overlooking a huge common area that reminded me of a saloon minus the bar and tables, which probably makes no sense. There's a large gas fireplace with a big screen TV playing westerns. The room itself was fine, but I thought overpriced. It was large but felt indifferent. The windows lacked curtains, and the walls were thin, allowing conversations to carry from next door. For activities, we did the branding, jeep tour, and fed the longhorn cattle. The branding involved making coasters with the WR logo. It was fun but over in like 5 minutes. The jeep tour showed us parts of the ranch off the main roads. It was very dusty, but we enjoyed the stories and the conversation with our driver. The longhorn were the most fun. We fed them some cow treats/food shaped like cigars. They loved being hand fed, and we needed to pay attention to avoid the horns for that element of danger. The folks working here were great and worked several jobs on the ranch. The wrangler working the branding activity ended up being our waiter for dinner. The jeep driver also fed the longhorn. The highlight of our visit for me was the fantastic views from the restaurant patio. We spent quite a bit of time there enjoying the scenery.

Food quality has gone way south... was once worth the drive, but no more. CFS was once among the best, but now clamoring for worst. Common house flys were a problem... but didn't seem to concern the stall much. Salmon had been removed from the menu, replaced by an uninspired halibut dish. No need to make that long drive to dine again.

Maria and her team were superb. The food was excellent. The Wildcatter Ranchhouse was stellar. Overall 5 star experience.

This is a actual dude ranch. My visit here was for a wedding but this ranch offers lodging and all that a dude ranch will have for the stay. The restaurant has a small lounge area and out door dining. We had the private room for our small gathering. This dude ranch is known for their steaks so guess what I'm having? The 22oz bone in rib eye! Cooked perfectly, needed a little more salt and pepper, would have beef great with some sautéed mushrooms and onions but not offered here. This was the biggest 22oz I've ever gotten It was bigger than the so called 50oz tomahawk rib eyes I've had in other famous steak houses. Accompanied by grilled asparagus. The fake looking ,warm biscuits they brought to the tables was fantastic and I don't eat biscuits, but I find them too dry. But these were exceptional.

40 years of combined restaurant service experience between my husband and I and we have never had as amazing of a server as Rachel. Oh my goodness, what a GEM of a person and server. She was so sweet, went above and beyond, timed everything perfectly, had amazing recommendations, and really felt like she wanted our experience to be perfect. Owner/management- if you're reading this, you've got yourself a one of a kind employee and a future restaurant manager/property manager. Thank you Rachel for an unforgettable dinner!

Steaks perfectly seasoned and could cut Filet with a fork. The mixed green salad was very big. Loaded baked potato was seriously loaded. Smoke corn was good but lacked seasoning. Will be back!

CONS: When it's dark out the room has very little light, even when you turn all lights/lamps on. There was a giant slit in the main door leading to the back patio, an area where anyone can walk through, and surrounding cabin-mates said they had the same thing. Grabbed the extra pillow and blanket above the ironing board in the closet area and DOG HAIR coated my entire bed. A clump even fell out. No pictures for any other food, however what I remember: the peach cobbler's dough was not cooked, entirely raw when it came to the table, the steak was under-cooked for what everyone in my group of 9 ordered, the chicken breasts on a bun were overcooked/charred and they only serve sweet tea around dinner. PROS: The horseback riding was a great time, hosted by knowledgeable and courteous gentleman. All the staff I encountered at the steakhouse were super friendly, always trying to help. Their biscuits at dinner are absolutely delicious, the steak was seasoned perfectly, just not cooked to how it was ordered. The staff hosted fun activities for our group, all focusing on having fun and learning some cool things. Overall, the people working here were all fantastic, just the qualities of the cabins and steakhouse were not to my liking.

Wildcatter Ranch Resort is a working ranch in Graham, TX that's right outside the DFW Metroplex. It's a place where city slickers (like me) can go to escape the hustles and bustle of the city. There are plenty of things to do and different areas you can stay. This review focuses on my entire experience. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - My visit took place in January. The pool was closed but there were no bugs or mean, Texas heat. Instead, I was transported to an amazingly peaceful, serine, and 100% Texas ranch. The Brazos river snakes its way through the land where on a clear day you can see for miles. Also - there was no wind on our visit so you could also here voices from hundreds of feet away. 1 Star. Service - Everyone is extremely friendly. From the real cowboys (who will let you pose for photos) to the wait staff; everyone greeted our family with a smile and were happy to help. Service in the restaurant is SUPER SLOW. I'll give them a pass because they're so friendly but impatient visitors beware. 1 Star. Experience - I'll start with the accommodations. We stayed in cabin #10. It's a very large room. There were two queen beds and a full fireplace. Best of all, the back porch had an amazing view of the ranch with perfect views of the sunset. There are a number of things you can do from horseback riding, archery, and a jeep ride. My kids rode the horses and said it was the "best ride ever". Me? I enjoyed the jeep ride, where a member of the Wildcatter Ranch staff will take you off-roading throughout the ranch. The photos of Wildcatter don't do it justice. It's just so beautiful and your driver doubles as a tour guide and Instagram photographer. Other reviews cover the restaurant so read those for information. If you stay here the restaurant converts to a breakfast buffet in the morning. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I think January may be the best month to visit. If you luck out with the weather like we did, your short drive from DFW will transport you to a true, Texas visit you'll never forget. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Facility - I'll award up to two stars for the facility, since this is the main reason we go out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the facility. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

We had the most relaxing time at the Wildcatter. Came into town to visit family and it was the best meeting place for all of us. We sat out on the back patio and had appetizers and some of the best drinks I have ever had. Dinner in the restaurant afterwards was exactly what I expect when I come to Texas. The steak was amazing! The sweet honey biscuits will make you come back just for them. The room was comfortable and the staff was so friendly. Best Texas visit yet! Remmington was the best at helping us make plans for our group. Ask for her.

This review is strictly for the restaurant. Really nice place with a good view of the countryside. Very nice waitress. She took our drink order and your hot fresh bread will be right out. We ordered an appetizer and your hot fresh bread will be right out. Our appetizer arrived and we ordered. Your hot fresh bread will be right out. We finished the appetizer and started on our salads. Your hot fresh bread will be right out. Glenda's grilled halibut and my ribeye arrived at the table. Let me go check on your hot fresh bread. The halibut was pretty good, but I was disappointed in the steak. The steak at the bar last night was better. The jalapeño cream corn was barely a couple of bites. We skipped dessert here and went to Bonitaville. Now, we are very, very, curious what the hot fresh bread taste like, because we never did get any! This visit was definitely a miss. Maybe better next time.

Wedding venue review: Picture perfect location to host a rustic wedding! The wedding I attended recently was held at the barn with a panoramic view of the valley. Staff was super friendly and attentive to all the guests and food was wonderful. My only suggestion is that if you are hosting over 75 people to rent extra port-a potties. The barn location only has 2 single use bathrooms.

Amazing bartender, quick drinks, and the food was outstanding. Got the biggest 1/2 rack of ribs I've ever seen, and it was so tender it fell off the bones.

Beautiful place and an awesome place to connect with nature. Perfect for hiking for the whole family. Staff was very friendly and professional. Here's why I'm giving 3 stars. This hotel was listed as 4 star hotel which is why I decided to visit for 3 day trip with my family. All the cabins were booked and I could only reserve hotel room. But when I went in, it's really is 2-3 star hotel. There's no safe box, no closet (open rack to hang clothes), old metal key entry (key has your room number on it, so if you drop it or lose it, you're kind of screwed), bathroom wasn't perfect, and coffee maker was very disgusting. Their activities are overpriced but we really enjoyed private horseback riding. Kids really enjoyed the ride and all their horses are beautiful. It was sad and hurtful to see that their horses are overworked and extremely tired with fully booked schedules. The food at the restaurant was very good but their service was extremely slow. They also wouldn't help us alter the menu. We asked them if we can pay extra to add chicken to kid's quesadilla but they said we can't do that. They had no soup on the menu and menu was a bit limited selection. With their super slow service, expect to spend 1.5 hour for lunch and 2 hours for dinner. Their WiFi at the room is pretty solid but cellphone connection is very spotty at the ranch. It's a bit scary to go on a hike without cell service.

On our road trip from Austin to Oklahoma City, we were looking for a Taxan ranch stay experience and we were glad that we found this hotel. We stayed at a Queen/Twin Cabin suite. The view from back porch of our cabin was breath taking. What make the ranch stand out compared to other hotels are the activities it offers. After reserved for the room, we received the daily activity schedule in the email. We arrived quite late at night, but the manager was able to accommodate our last minute request for the activity the next day. Long horn feeding is at 9 am and free with stay. We signed up for clay shooting which accepted the youngest age of 10. The cowboys were very friendly and helpful. My son didn't have experience with gun before and our guide was very patient to teach him how to use the gun and how to aim. The stay at the ranch was definitely the most memorable of our Texas road trip.

I visited the Wildcatter twice during the Christmas / New Year holiday. It's a great spot on top of a hill right outside Graham, TX. I had heard good things about the newly named Wildcatter Steakhouse. They recently announced a new chef and I was excited to give it a try with my father in law. It is one of his favorite local restaurants. We arrived for an early table around 5:30pm. Sat at the bar first to just relax and our bartender, Remington was very cool. She was chatty, friendly and quick with refills where necessary. When we went to our table it was already dark outside but the dining room has some great views from the eastern ridge of the hill. I imagine in the summer the patio right outside would be beautiful. Our server was Kim. She was very nice and checked on us often. We ordered an appetizer which was the Catter Platter. A nice mix of appetizers which was bacon wrapped jalapeño, Texas toothpicks, bacon wrapped quail and fried picked. For our mains I ordered a 14oz ribeye with a loaded baked potato and a wild mustang salad. The salad was excellent. It came with a balsamic dressing and was loaded with feta and cranberries. It was delicious. The steak was exactly to order, nice medium rare and the potato was tender but not dry. I ate every bite. If it wasn't a classy spot I'd have licked the plate! My father in law had the filet with the loaded potato and a Caesar salad. He was equally impressed and suggested next time we come back with my wife as well. They had a nice selection of beer and liquor. To wash it down with. I stuck with the Rahr brewery Ugly Pug. A nice dark lager. Dessert would have been a step too far. Maybe next time I'll give it a shot but I was totally stuffed. They were also hosting a New Year Eve event with live music so I'm reviewing that as well. This is a two visit kind of deal. $50 two bands, champagne toast and unlimited appetizers. Great deal. I already reviewed the bar and food so I will spare the repeat. Just as good the second time around only this time the bartender was Brooklyn and she was also very good. The bands started with Raised Right Men. They played for about three hours and then it switched to Ross Shiflett to play it out to New Year. Both bands were excellent, Drew a good crowd and a great time was had by all. A nice way to bring in the New Year. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Huge fan of the Wildcatter Ranch Resort! Great for a quick weekend getaway if you live in the Dallas or Ft. Worth area, or anywhere really. There were visitors from Scotland and Germany while my husband and I were there for Labor Day weekend, so it looks like international travelers choose this unique destination as well! The rooms had a very country western style of decor and were quite comfortable. We stayed in the cheapest room possible but it was equipped with a coffee maker and a mini-fridge. The beds and sheets were so comfortable and we slept so well! We partook in the skeet shooting and archery. We felt that these were reasonably priced compared to some of the other activities offered. The equestrian activities were a bit too expensive for us at about $90 per person per activity. If we were to go again, we would definitely do the skeet shooting as well as possibly a Jeep tour of the full property because the landscape was just beautiful. The skeet shooting was very beginner-friendly and the instructor, dressed as a cowboy, definitely eased my nerves and gave me some good tips. Our absolute favorite activity was the longhorn feeding every morning at 9am. Those animals are so friendly and love their treats! It is amazing to see how happy they get from the attention and snacks. This activity is free but it was my all-time favorite. There are some things which you can do to really get the most value out of your stay at Wildcatter Ranch. The first is to not eat their breakfast. It doesn't have much besides some yogurts, fruits, instant oatmeal, and scrambled eggs and some greasy meet. I would highly recommend just buying a pack of bananas and some instant oatmeal yourself and preparing it in the room. If I can recall, the breakfast "buffet" costs about $12 per person, and that is totally not worth it. I would also not recommend going to their steak restaurant. Though the bread was good, the food was meh. The seating was lovely with the views of the resort landscape and the service was great, but I was truly underwhelmed by my overcooked ribeye.

Resort Review (Steakhouse below): Quality and level of service you would expect from a resort with a homey Texan feel. The resort was at capacity yet it felt like I was one of a few people there, which was great. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. You walk in and they know your name and are always willing to help. The activities were very well planned out and so much fun! They had a good variety of activities and multiple time options to choose from to best fit your schedule. It is obvious that all at Wildcatter care about what they do and their guests and it shows in every way during your stay. The views and property are amazing as well and I recommend exploring while you are there. I will definitely be returning and cannot say enough good things. Steakhouse Review: Outstanding service, excellent food and views you won't want to miss. I ate here multiple times during my stay at Wildcatter Resort and outside of the amazing food, what also stood out to me was the staff at the steakhouse. Each time I walked in I received a friendly greeting and they made sure I was taken care of. During meals they were super attentive, I never had to ask for anything because they anticipated my needs and were always readily available, the food was timed perfectly so it was a seamless transition between course and the views from the restaurant were beautiful! Oh and outside of the steaks the Rosemary biscuits and pecan bread pudding are my favorites!! A 5 experience all around and I can't wait to return.

We had an absolutely amazing time! The friendliness of Stephanie at check in was beyond compare. She was so helpful and we were even able to checkin early. She helped with planning our activities and dinner reservations. Next we went to do the clay shooting activity. Jacob was awesome! He was patient and assisted when I needed help loading my rifle. He was a joy to spend the afternoon with and answered all our questions about the ranch and it's history. We went to the bar and had drinks while waiting for dinner. The bartender was friendly and attentive. We were seated for dinner and Olivia was fantastic. She was great at offering suggestions and spot on with her recommendations. Everything we ate was delicious! The rosemary biscuits, our crab wantons were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The chicken fried steak, baked potato and salad was perfect. My husbands ribs, asparagus, creamed corn and summer salad were all perfect as well! Our stay was cut short, so we weren't able to go horseback riding as originally planned. Again, Stephanie at the front desk was incredibly friendly, and got everything worked out for us with no issue. 100% WOULD RECOMMEND for anyone wanting a getaway to a beautiful, relaxing resort. We will absolutely be back!!!

I cannot believe this place doesn't have a perfect 5 star rating. Our experience was perfect from the time we arrived to the moment we checked out. We arrived on Wednesday evening for a retreat for families of children with Down syndrome that started Thursday morning. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The cabins are great and the view from the back porch was incredible. On our retreat we had family activities of archery, clay shooting, tomahawk throw and of course horse back riding for the kiddos and feeding the longhorns. The staff running our activities were again top notch, patient and kind. Every meal from the biscuits and gravy at breakfast to the salads and steaks at dinner was delicious. Our absolute favorite employee was SHAWN...... Shawn just went above and beyond. She was so gracious with our kiddos and their special needs, she was happy to get us whatever we needed, she always had a huge smile on her face and it was genuine. What a wonderful weekend!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Wildcatter and SHAWN!!!

This is strictly a review for the restaurant. The food was very good and the price point wasn't terrible for the location and quality. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the unorganized staff. We had a reservation (not sure why reservations are recommended since the place was more than half empty.) We were initially seated in a COMPLETELY empty dining room then moved to a enclosed patio area. Our server was new but friendly, you would think with it being her first day they would have someone training with her. She wasn't familiar with the menu or offerings, since it was her first day but thats understandable. The rest of the staff was just there, not very welcoming. Steaks were excellent but the sides were so so. Overall I'd try it again but it didn't blow me away on first impressions.

I don't know where to start. The steakhouse (restaurant) has taken a turn for the worst. With a lunch menu with 3-5 choices, surely something would be good, right? Wrong. A wait of about 1.5 hours was necessary before we received our BBQ or grilled cheeses, which were served on paper boats you'd get your frito pie served in at a little league baseball game. Now, presentation isn't everything, and I surely thought my sliced brisket would makeup for the former annoyances, but I was wrong...again. I needed two bbq sauce cups to cover up the dryness, or I probably would have choked and died right then and there. Oh, we can't forget about the baked beans that were most definitely undercooked and cold. The given excuse by the new manager/owner was that they had a wedding party the night before (that "cleaned them out" of food) and they didn't prepare for 37 people (our party was much less than that) to show up for lunch. THIRTY SEVEN. Either we were eating old bbq from the fridge or they had to run to Clayton's or Brothers to restock, but with how below average the food was I don't want to put a bad look on either of those fine restaurants. That all being said, you're probably finally digesting all this, but I want to make a positive point. Kayci, our server, was terrific and made a great bloody marry (and other drinks as I was told). Unfortunately, this is not the restaurant it once was, but who knows what the future holds. Good luck.

We were able to check in on time and room was clean. Bed was nice. The carpet could use a good shampooing as it is worn. The resort is dated, but seriously just needs a little TLC. From check in, to dinner, everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. We took the jeep ranch tour and it was great, spectacular views. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Dinner at steakhouse was spectacular! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and taken very good care of. The barmaid was super busy, but attentive, and made a fabulous Christmas martini. The restaurant manager kept checking on us through dinner and offered dinner suggestions. Steak was excellent! Asparagus was excellent and we tried the bacon wrapped quail and that to, just perfect. The view from the pool was beautiful, but the pool are needs some love. There are so many updates that could be done easily and well worth it.

Stayed at Wildcatter Ranch for a couple of nights and had a great visit. We had an opportunity to do skeet shooting and some archery while we were there, the staff was very friendly and made it a fun activity. The rooms were very well decorated, especially the cabin suites. Each one is decorated differently. Each morning you can go down to and feed the longhorns with one of the ranch hands. This is an experience if you have not done it before that is worth doing. Just ask at the front desk what time you need to meet in the lobby. The pool here is very nice. It is an infinity style pool and also has a hot tub. There is a beautiful view out to the west, a great spot to be for sunset even if you are not swimming. I really enjoyed my stay and plan on returning some time in the future.

Wow, what a surprise my sister gave me. She picked my wife and myself and said we were going on a "road trip" so sit back and relax. After a couple of hours we arrived at Wildcatter Ranch! Oh my gosh, what an incredible place. We were there for lunch on a Sunday. The menu was abbreviated with limited choices. Each of us got something different. We ordered the "smoked poppers" for an appetizer. They were very tasty with a heavy smoked flavor! There were 8 on the plate which was perfect for the 4 of us. I ordered the chicken fried sirloin. It was absolutely "fork-tender", I didn't have to use a knife at all. The gravy was flavored perfectly. The restaurant's "home-cut" French fries was prepared and seasoned perfectly! We ended the meal with dessert. I had the creme brulee and it was delicious and very creamy! The view from the restaurant was incredible! It looks out on the Texas vistas. Our visit was indeed very special and I can't wait to return again in the future.

Loved the cabin room with the sunset view. The bed was hard so we definitely couldn't stay any longer than two days. Love the live music entertainment. When we arrived the first night we went to the bar, ordered wine and the jalapeno poppers which were limp and barely warm- almost like they were yesterday's left overs. We hoped dinner would prove to be better and it was. We had the salmon and the steak which both were cooked to perfection. The asparagus were fabulous and the roasted vegetables devine! We would have like to see more Texas wines on the menu as there are many very good ones out there. They offer skeet shooting, Longhorn feeding and Jeep tours, and there is a pool for when the weather warms up. A nice getaway, just hours west of Dallas.

Amazing architecture and breath taking views are abundant at the Wildcatter restaurant. I have been there many times, and have yet to be disappointed. The steaks (ribeyes are my most popular choice) are always tender and cooked exactly to my request (thank you Bob Bratcher!). Although I usually don't have room for dessert (some day I'll eat dessert first!), I have seen people served great looking dishes and have heard great reviews as well. A little pricey, but worth it (hey, it's a steakhouse!). Wait time has always been reasonable, and the staff is always very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Wildcatter Ranch does not disappoint.

This is a review for the wedding venue and the cabins. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the house is amazing. Make very sure that you know all costs up front prior to signing a contract to have a wedding there. You have to purchase food from the resort. It is extra to light the fire pits, heat the pools, to rent the golf cart to transport your guests. We rented the pavilion for the rehearsal dinner. The view was beautiful and the food was great. I found out later that they had served expired beer at the rehearsal dinner. When I reached out to the resort, they would in no way compensate us for the cost of beer. The sad thing is what each of those beers cost. If renting this venue, go in with your eyes wide open. Ask for all additional costs up front and be aware of food costs prior to signing anything.

Wildcatter Ranch is a resort ranch just short drive from the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex.  You can choose a hotel room or cabin.  We chose a cabin, I made the reservations, and we hit the road! Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed about the ranch is the WR brand.  It appears on the entry, the restaurant plates, the fireplace mantle, and several places in between. Feeding the longhorn cattle, horseshoes, sand volleyball, a small basketball court, disc golf, a swimming pool, and a hot tub are included in your stay.  Hiking trails were also advertised but when we inquired, we were told that after a recent drought, they hadn't been maintained.  We set off on a hike anyway, but the trail wasn't marked clearly and we ended up wandering through the woods.  Thankfully, it wasn't rattlesnake weather yet, so we were ok with our nature adventure!  Other activities that may be booked for an additional fee include horseback riding, clay sport shooting, archery, jeep tours, and massages.  (Be aware that the additional activities add a 20% gratuity.) Our check in was in the hotel lobby and it was beautiful.  The rustic western furniture and decor was a compliment to the warm wood tones.  A breakfast buffet is served in the lobby (8-9:30 a.m.) if you're interested.  Bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, instant oatmeal, dry cereal, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and granola were on the menu the day we were there.  The breakfast buffet was $12 each but it's convenient and you don't have to go in to town for breakfast unless you just want to.  You can eat breakfast then get in line to give the longhorn cattle their first meal of the day at the longhorn feeding! The Dinner Bell Restaurant is located across the parking lot from the hotel and is open only for dinner, starting at 5 p.m.  There are two dining areas, a traditional dining room and a long rectangular dining room with a pretty view.  I'm sure this room is popular in the summer for sunsets.  If you get hungry in between breakfast and dinner, you'll need to go to Graham, a short distance away, or buy snacks at the gift shop at the hotel or bring your own.  We went into Graham on Friday night and ate at the Dinner Bell on Saturday night.  I was impressed with the delicious meal we had.  My husband ordered a mesquite grilled steak and I chose grilled Halibut with fresh avocado and pesto sauce. The cabins aren't stand alone, there are 4 cabins per building.  The rustic western furniture and decor from the hotel overflowed to the cabins as well.  Our cabin was the Graham Family cabin, aptly named for the family who established Graham, TX, just minutes from the ranch.  While advertised as a cabin, it wasn't lacking in amenities.  It had a television, gas lit fireplace, microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee maker.  There were even two robes (with the WR brand or course!).  There is a small back porch area but the partial walls don't give much privacy from the other cabin porches. I would be remiss if I didn't give special attention to Josh, the Dinner Bell bartender and manager, and Matt, our ranch hand.  We could quickly see that Josh had never met a stranger and we enjoyed meeting and talking with him.  Matt was a patient teacher at archery and the clay sport shooting.  There were several of us who hadn't done these activities before and he walked us through the safety guidelines and set us up for success. Wildcatter Ranch is fun for a couples weekend or a family adventure weekend with the children.  They are a wedding venue also if you're in the market to book a wedding! Love this place. We started in a king cabin and could not have had a more enjoyable, or relaxing time. We ate dinner at the steakhouse where the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and the service was impeccable. We could not stop raving about the quail appetizer or their signature biscuits! We split a bone-in ribeye and chicken fried steak and were very pleased with both entrees, plus the portions sizes were very generous, all food was super fresh, and the bread pudding was literally the best I have ever had- and bread pudding has been my favorite dessert for 25 years now (and I lived in NYC for 10 years and always ordered it as my dessert if available). The prices were low for such high quality fresh, food. Overall a terrific value and unassailably wonderful experience and terrific date night that made such an unexpectedly great memory that we will be back to stay again within the next month. If only they sold their delicious biscuits separately so I could take them home to snack on to tide me over until we can get away to our Wildcatter king cabin escape again!

This place is beautiful. We use it all the time for business and they are always accommodating. We have rented the Herron house and it was absolutely stunning. Great place to bring your family also. Should be on most people's bucket list

With scenic views and an excellent array of activities this is a beautiful place to visit. The on-site restaurant is pretty solid and if you go there definitely have the bacon wrapped quail. The staff is polite and available 24/7. This seems to be a great venue for families and large scale events.

This review is solely for the steakhouse. I was sooo disappointed. We come to Jacksboro once every year for work and we always look forward to going to wildcatters. So much so, that I'm willing to drive over a hour from my hotel to visit. Well I won't be visiting again. We ordered our food and waited TWO hours and still there was no answer from the kitchen. We never saw a manager and no discount or some type of gesture to apologize for the late food was given. Needless to say we never got our food and ended up leaving. Oh, and so did half of the restaurant. We watched 10 other guests get up and leave and yes, that was about half of the people in the restaurant. No service for two hours AND the place was practically empty? So sad. Management needs to change ASAP.

For the restaurant: pretty good atmosphere for the area, but didn't fall in love with the food! Had a reservation for Saturday night, and they were gracious on seating us when we arrived quite a while before the scheduled time. Our waiter brought plenty of bread for the table, and we got to reviewing the menu. We were told at the beginning it would take a bit of time to the get food, as they were catering a wedding at the same time. A couple people ordered drinks, then I followed when the waiter brought out the first round. After multiple check-ins from the waiter and a couple reminders on what I ordered, I got my Old Fashion. Both it and the margarita were nothing exciting - marg had a lot of sweet & sour and the Old Fashion tasted a bit watery. The next time he stopped by, we ordered our appetizers and entrees to ensure we caught him before we got too hungry! A bit later, we received the Catter Platter (fried green beans, bacon wrapped jalapenos, crab cakes) as a starter, and wasn't very warm or well seasoned. I ordered the 12oz ribeye, and it was really great with the sage butter and sauteed mushrooms on top! The sides were average. I tried a couple bites of the Chicken del Mar and the Herb Crusted Halibut. The chicken was tasty, but the halibut was odd - it tasted as though it didn't have salt on it at all, which made it taste rather fishy and earthy with the herbs. For dessert, we tried their chocolate brownie and the peach cobbler, both of which tasted good! Overall, dinner took approximately 2 hours. The service was alright and several items we ordered were good, but nothing amazing. The view and the steak were awesome!

My friends wedding was here and i loved this venue part of the resort! Everything was very clean, organized and the grounds were very well kept. Loved this place but it was just too far from home.

The steakhouse is conveniently located right in front of the hotel room. The staff is friendly. The lady bartender is a little rough around the edges. If you like your drink strong get the Texas Tea. The punch drink is not strong, but tastes good. My ribeye lacked seasoning but my husband's with blue cheese topping was delicious. The star of the plate was the asparagus. The mashed potatoes tasted like it might be instant flakes. I'd go with a baked potato next time. The desserts were very good. Cinammon ice cream with peach cobbler and bluberry cheescake. Yum. The resort was clean, nice, and relaxing. They have tetherball, basketball court, horse-shoe, swimming pool, jacuzzi. Beautiful scenery, landscaping, and plenty of places to sit & relax.

We found this hidden gem after a long day of traveling. In California where we live there are a lot of incredible restaurants with 5 Star Chefs and we both agree that Wildcatter Steakhouse is on par with them. The avocado pesto halibut was moist, and asparagus Al dente. The mushrooms were delicately seasoned and the homemade rolls were "the best biscuits on earth". If we were to guess as to what is in them we would say they are a rosemary herb with a hint of honey. The service was excellent and the ambience was lovely. We will definitely be coming back again.

If you've ever thought about going here, just get a stack of 100 singles and go drive around possum kingdom and throw one of those bills out about every mile and I guarantee you will have a better time than eating here. In all seriousness, the hospitality is awesome and the welcome is warm. The bar is great, with cold stiff drinks. None of this however makes up for the soggy, obviously pre-frozen sampler appetizer, warm days old salad, and the more over done than over priced steaks. Our waiter (Tyler/Taylor?) was too busy to ask how it was, and I was too pissed to talk about it. So after three bites of cumin infused jerky being palmed off as a steak I paid my tab (no extra) and left. In their defense, they had two birthday party's going on, at least one of which was unexpected, which we apart of neither. Maybe that threw them off? If I ever happen to be around there again, I'd go for a couple of drinks, but I can't see myself ordering any food there ever again. Hell of a view and hell of an effort; just super poor execution.

When we dated, my husband and I would go to the Wildcatter for an upscale dining experience in "our neck of the woods". It was lovely with really good food! The last couple of times that we have been here, it has been below par. Last year when we went, it made our list (meaning places we would not eat). On my birthday, we thought we would give it another try and take the kids to a "fancier" restaurant. Appetizer: Queso - Nothing special, just Rotel and Velveeta, which they served cold. Soup: Potato and smoked sausage - served cold, but would have been much better it if had been served hot! Dinner: Nothing memorable. I had the salmon, which was dusted with their "Famous" steak rub, which is not my favorite. I do not like the spice combination on the steak (which is why I didn't get one), much less fish. Our waiter was nice, but other patrons had issues where they needed help and had to look everywhere for somebody with no luck. And, she had to go behind the bar herself to look for a rag to clean up a spill at their table. All in all, we will not be back, which makes us kind of sad.

I was really looking forward to dinner this evening. As it turns out my dinner was presented to me very very wrong. First, your Staff did not have the reservation correct at all. Our party of 9 was told to be seated for a table of six then it took 4 people and 10 minutes to get it right. Then our waiter was terribly inexperienced. There was no drink menu or wine list when I sat down, then he was baffled when I requested one. He was also unable to tell me anything about the the regional selection. Lastly my order was not correct nor did he not try to make it right. I didn't eat the dinner he gave me because it wasn't what I ordered. I did not enjoy my experience at dinner tonight. I'm at home eating leftovers now. =( I am so upset

Wildcatter is a great place to come and stay. It's a resort hotel with just a bit of "dude ranch" in it. We came out for a one-night stay on a quiet weekend at the end of summer. At just about 2 hours from Dallas, it's a perfect distance for a quick getaway. Its proximity to Possum Kingdom Lake (boating and fishing) and Graham (small town eating and shopping) adds to a full weekend. I highly recommend staying in a cabin if you're coming out. The hotel rooms are fine, but they simply don't hold a candle to the cabins. In the hotel rooms (we looked at one), you'll just find a cozy space with a bit of nice decor and a standard bathroom, but in the cabins you have a spacious room with all the feel of a cabin in the woods. You even have a back patio with rocking chairs to enjoy the view. We saw a roadrunner the morning we were there. The cabins are more expensive, it's true, but the experience is perfect. Everything here is very well maintained. I don't think it's brand new, but it sure feels like it. You won't find things dirty, or damaged. The landscaping is also very well done. Pretty much all indigenous plants. The location is perfect as you have great views for miles from the hill you're situated on. They made an interesting decision to leave most of the trees up between you and the view - the trees are nice of course, but without them it seems like it could be breathtaking. I also have to mention the pool. It's small, but beautifully and luxuriously done. Great stone work around, and the infinity pool is formed by a little spillover into a mini sitting area. There is a very nice hot tub as well. Plenty of chairs around to enjoy. Not sure if the pool is heated - on the day we were there it was warm and sunny so it wasn't needed, but the pool was on the cool side. There are lots of things to do here. They've tried to add a variety of activities for those who are more interested in doing stuff there at the hotel. In the mornings they offer a free tractor & wagon ride out to the front to feed the Longhorn cattle, which is a nice touch and worth doing if you aren't in a hurry to get out. They also have horseback riding, archery, and more (for a cost). These things all looked fun, but we weren't interested in them. We did go on a hike, and found a nice trail that was not difficult but not too easy. Overall, the hotel wasn't an amazing value. On a slow weekend we paid $200 for one night in the cabin, and most everything was extra (including breakfast). It's a great spot, but it seemed overly pricey. They do offer wi-fi in the rooms (but it's a hair spotty), the bathrooms are very nice, and the beds are comfortable. The pillows, however, were your typical flat pancakes. They seem to regularly spray for bugs, because we had no mosquito issues at all and expected to. They were also copious amounts of dead grasshoppers and crickets around, both inside and outside the room. I wish they had just swept these away before we arrived (it's possible they do - we arrived early). One more note - make other breakfast plans! The breakfast buffet here is pitifully small and costs $12 per person. They really need to either expand this breakfast dramatically or make it free. It is not part of the big restaurant, which we also didn't eat at - it's pretty expensive. Clearly catering to a formal crowd. The online menu showed an $8 hamburger, which I'm sure is fine, but everything else looked to be at least double that. Perhaps the hotel could offer a perk of a coupon or something to guests at the hotel. That would make the hotel feel like more of a value, and encourage more customers at the restaurant. Anyway, the cabins have a fridge and microwave, so feel free to do your own breakfast in the room. Otherwise, Graham is only 10 minutes away.

What a wonderful, relaxing place for a TEXAS weekend getaway! My husband and I stayed at the Wildcatter Ranch for a weekend away with our 2-year-old daughter. The hotel building is gorgeous and it looks like the hotels in old Westerns, which we thought was really cool. The resort has just 16 cabin suites and a few hotel rooms, so there's never a crowd. Most of the time, we felt like we were the only people there. We stayed in one of the cabin suites--a MUST if you can swing it. Absolutely stunning. Stained concrete floors, vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, stone fireplace, rustic cowboy decor, granite countertops, wood furniture... it was so romantic and fun. Out the back door was a covered patio overlooking the valley, and the view was beautiful. Two wooden rocking chairs made this a great spot to admire the view, listen to the sounds of nature, and watch the sun rise and set. The ranch has some cool activities, but not for really young kids. The first morning at 9am, we rode the covered wagon down to feed the longhorns; my daughter had a great time "petting the cows," as she called it. It was a really neat experience. We also were allowed to go down to the barn and visit with the horses on our own, since our daughter is too young for the trail rides. The cowboys on staff were very friendly, even though we intruded on the horse barn just as they were leaving to lead a trail ride. We spent most of the weekend at the gorgeous, infinity-edge pool. The pool has two beach-style entrances, which is ideal when you have young children who can't just jump in. It was peaceful and quiet at the pool. More great views, too. The resort provides towels and cushioned lounge chairs surround the pool area. Near the pool area are several sport courts that our daughter loved running around on. We had dinner both nights at the on-site restaurant, The Dinner Bell. The staff was friendly and more than accommodating. The food was excellent and so were the views. The only drawback: hours are 5-9pm, so if you want to get drinks later in the evening, you're out of luck. The hotel lobby has a small DVD collection that you can borrow from for free, which was nice because we found an Elmo video that our daughter watched no less than twice a day every day we were there. It kept her busy at night when there was nothing else to do but hang out in the cabin. Things you should know before going: 1. The rooms are freezing cold. The A/C was set to 65 when we got there and we never could seem to warm it up. The concrete floors are so cold it almost hurts to walk on them. Bring slippers if you don't like having cold feet! The resort provides two warm, luxurious bath robes and we practically lived in them. I wish I'd brought a sweatshirt, though. 2. Bugs and mud. I am not a country girl, and I was a little freaked out by all the bugs everywhere. I also got stuck in ankle-deep mud and ruined a pair of cute slip-ons. Bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes that can handle mud, rocks, and fire ants. Basically, wear cowboy boots. :) 3. The hotel serves breakfast from 8:00-9:30 for $12 per person and $8 for kids. The hot buffet offered eggs. sausage, and biscuits and gravy. They also had some cereal and muffins and yogurt and fresh fruit. It was good food, but we thought it was like the free breakfast you might get at a chain hotel, definitely nothing worth $12, especially during such a small window of time. We were up early with our toddler and it was a long wait for breakfast for her. 4. There is nowhere to eat lunch here, so you have to leave and head 10 miles up the road to Graham. Overall: This is a GREAT place for a relaxing romantic weekend away or a quiet family vacation (esp if you have kids age 8+ who can participate in the activities). We will definitely be back!

Interesting place. Brought the boat for the day & decided to make it 2, so we needed impromptu accommodations. GREAT VIEW, especially from the restaurant which I learned originally was owned/operated by Wildcatter and as of last 6 months or so is now privately owned and therefore open more days & open to the public-which it should be. We showed up late at closing and staff was more than accommodating and we had a great & memorable dinner. (Side note, wine list is horribly lacking to say best) Resort room-nothing negative to say and will be returning but will be not be looking forward to full size beds-no Kings. Pool-gorgeous!! I would stay just for that alone. Resort Breakfast 'offered' in lobby-beware! $12 for serve yourself coffee/juice/cereal/commercial eggs. Resort Staff-lots of staff but nothing really being done, unknowledgeable about area, seemed disinterested/bored.

A great place to get a meal. Came down from Wichita Falls to try this place out. My second time in 3 years. It was very tasty. Will be back when it works out
