Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Wildebeest Eco Camp. The property is set in an idyllic, spacious garden with a large pond at its center – a lovely place to relax and an excellent spot for birdwatching. The camp offers a range of accommodation options, from simple tents to solid rooms, making it accessible for most budgets. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the security team left a good impression. A particular highlight: we arrived early in the morning and were kindly allowed to check into our room right away – a generous and much-appreciated gesture. Both breakfast and dinner were good, with dinner offering solid value for money.||However, there were a few aspects that detracted from the overall experience. The safari excursions offered by the camp do not scale with group size and are relatively expensive at $170 per person – more flexibility and transparency would be welcome here. The packed breakfast was minimal, consisting of two muffins, an apple, a juice box, and a small bottle of water. Room value for money was average at best. Despite a confirmed booking through our travel agency – including a cancellation fee – we were charged approximately 10% more upon arrival. In our view, pricing and cancellation conditions should be binding for both sides.||We also found the camp’s “eco” label to be somewhat misleading. The solar infrastructure is not sufficient to power the camp, water is sold exclusively in plastic bottles, and there is no option to refill your own bottle – which undermines the sustainability claim.||Conclusion: A charming place with great staff and a beautiful garden – but there’s clear room for improvement when it comes to safari pricing, room value, and genuine sustainability.
