We went on a 9 day trip to Botswana organised by Wilderness Safaris. What an unbelievable experience. Their camps are 5 star, the staff well trained, friendly and professional. The guides and vehicles are next level. They offer SADC rates for us who use monopoly money.

After going to their properties in Botswana I expected an elevated experience worth the steep price. The operation here significantly devalues the brand. The cars are uncomfortable and the guides are not knowledable about the area. I do not recommend using them.

Very poor organisation. Although we had booked 4 months in advance we had to ask for confirmation and vouchers several times from the booking staff. Staff changes caused some of the issues. They were sent when we were 1/2 way up Mt Kilimanjaro. We were really treated as second class customers. When we arrived at the Camp Site, we were told we hadn’t paid. We forfeited coffee and some game drive time trying to sort out their mess. Eventually got a written apology from the staff member who spoilt our arrival. Very difficult for them to recover from a poor start. Other staff were friendly but awkward. The game drives are OK but we were not used to having 18 vehicles all chasing to get a view of a lion!! In comparison to Lion Sands or Singita Kruger, it’s chalk and cheese. Disappointing as I had longed to go on a Wilderness Safari since I met and worked with Colin Bell the founder 30 years ago. Maybe choose another operator.

Rodney A was our guide from Wilderness Safaris in Cape Town. He was terrific and a gentlemen with knowledge a plus. Our flight was late from Kilimanjaro and he was there at the airport. Our luggage was lost and he was there to point the way to report it. We had on the only clothing we had and he took us to a shopping center and pointed at the stores to shop at. The next morning he was at the hotel ready to start our tour of Cape Town and we had the best experience. The second day we had the wine tour and experienced wine tasting at its best. Then we were dropped off at Franschhoek Country House to experience that Inn and town. Then back to the Cape Town Airport for home. Rodney gave us all kinds of history; we ate at very nice restaurants for lunch and we thank him for a wonderful experience. I recommend Rodney highly.

We had the most wonderful experience with Wilderness Safaris working with Clive. He was so knowledgeable in all aspects of African and South African history, culture, flora, etc. He always had a Plan B in case there was an unexpected closure at a sight we were planning to visit. I can’t speak highly enough of our experience with him and Wilderness Safaris.

Set in a beautiful office park surrounded by the lovely Constantia scenery. A pleasure to drive every morning.
