9 Dreamy Bubble Hotels and Airbnbs Around the World - AFAR

"Located in Finnish Lapland, glass-roofed aurora cabins allow guests to watch the northern lights—visible on many nights of the year—from inside while being sheltered from harsh subzero winds. Both standard and premium cabins include en suite toilets and showers, with the premium offering a cozy interior fireplace; the on-site restaurant serves traditional Lappish dishes such as reindeer and smoked fish and cabin decor draws on Indigenous Sami influences. The property also offers winter activities like snowmobiling, dog sledding and ice fishing, though aurora sightings can never be guaranteed." - Lyndsey Matthews, Maya Kroth

We had a wonderful vacation. Everything was well organized, starting with the pick-up at the airport, the meals and all the activities. The guides were excellent and dedicated. The food in buffet form was good. We had the advantage of being there at the end of the season, so the hotel was not fully booked and we were able to do the activities in small groups. Our appartment was big and modern.

Went here March 2025 for holiday. The journey here was smooth with airport pick-up from the hotel. The entire stay my family and I felt so rested and all our meets were met. There was a lot of things to do from sledding or walking around on your own to the paid unforgettable experience like the husky ride to aurora hunting. You can see the aurora from the hotel itself already though. The staff were all so kind and welcoming. It was perfect 🫶🏼

We had the most magical 4 nights at the Wilderness Hotel Nellim. We stayed in a log cabin suite which was great for 2 adults and 2 kids. It isn’t huge but is super warm plus has its own sauna. It’s about a 3 minute walk to the main restaurant building. We did a package that included snow shoeing, aurora snow mobiling, day time snowmobiling and reindeer visit, huskies, and aurora camp. We saw the northern lights one night but even without seeing them the other nights we still had a lot of fun. The 9 year old found the snowshoeing a bit hard (we should have taken snacks and water to keep him going) but the rest of us loved it. And we did get the purest water from the stream and our guide gave him biscuits when needed. The huskies were the best bit of the trip. Pure magic. The food was great and the restaurant was never too busy. It was great to get the package and not have to think about anything from arriving at the airport to leaving. I didn’t think the drinks were particularly expensive but we didn’t drink a lot. It was the most amazing trip, all the guides were great and I’d highly recommend.

Overall a very good winter holiday experience. Our lakeside villa is very spacious, clean and comfortable. The food of the buffet spread was delicious with adequate variety. The dessert can be improved. The activities were pre-planned for us and will be better if the guest is given a choice to choose their activities. Also, better safety instructions should be given.

Okay where do we start! We have mostly all positive things to say but just a couple heads up too. |So I know this trip isn’t cheap but it’s 100% worth the memories you will make. The activities were all incredible, I loved that the staff didn’t baby you if you get me - you were given the freedom I think is necessary for all activities. The husky-led sleds was honestly hands down one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had, as was snowmobiling. We did the 4 day arctic explorer package and it was amazing, done at a perfect pace also with enough time to chill out between activities and enjoy the accommodation. The activities aren’t fast paced either in the best way - we never felt rushed once. The staff were all friendly and welcoming during every activity. ||Now the food was absolutely incredible especially for buffet food. I actually couldn’t believe the quality and range of food, and we never ate the same thing once, the variety was amazing and the menu changed every day. We were blown away with the high quality of the food. |And the alcohol surprisingly wasn’t too badly priced either! I do think for the price everyone has paid including soft drink free with buffet should be included as part of package but again, not really a big deal at all. ||The accommodation itself was breathtaking. We stayed in the arctic suite and it was luxury. Large and spacious and looked brand new, we loved it! Blew my expectations out the park! ||The only thing I do thing the hotel should do is when you check in they offer you an Aurora buzzer that alarms when the auroras are visible over the hotel for €30. Given the price everyone is paying to be there for mostly short periods - I believe they should give everyone one of these buzzers as part of the package as feels quite cheeky asking for extra money given the expenses already.. ||And the only other thing I would note is that I believe the hotel should be a little transparent with your schedule (I know your itinerary probably can’t be scheduled until closer to the date), however, we paid full board even though we had lunch 3 out of 4 days out at the camps during our activities. So we really only ate lunch at the hotel once and paid for full board instead of half board which could’ve saved us money since the lunch is included in the activities that are over lunch time. That’s quite literally the only thing to be mindful of, I would likely buy half board and possibly upgrade to full board in person once you get your itinerary to see if it’s worth it :)||In the grand scheme of things this is really nothing compared to how amazing the entire experience is but worth considering when booking! |Also the arctic suite had a full kitchen basically, so bear that in mind, and bring some snacks & drinks etc as unfortunately there is no shops nearby to buy supplies except for hotel lobby. ||Don’t procrastinate and book this trip, the memories are unreal and life is too short!!!

I was staying with my daughter for 1 week in a log suite cabin (Nammi 3). It was really comfortable with a separate balcony-like loft area that feels like 2 bedrooms (although open). It was great to be together but still a bit apart. We also had our own private sauna, that was amazing to warm ourselves up when coming back from the numerous activities. We enjoyed the husky-safari, the raindeer day on the snowmobile and the crosscountry skiing (did it the first time) the most. All the guides were extremely nice and patient and very knowledgeable (thank you Gabor, Helmi and Anthony - sorry couldn‘t remember everybody!). In fact all staff was very friendly and helpful, also at the front desk und at the restaurant. I found the food excellent and of high quality and enjoyed having the selections of a buffet 3 times a day, every time also with a separate section for kids. We were very lucky to see the aurora on three of the seven nights we stayed here. I can absolutely recommend and would be back in a heartbeat.

We booked an Adventure week through Discover The World in early March 2025, and while not cheap, it was worth every penny, and simply the best holiday we have ever had! The hotel was beautiful, clean and very warm, and the buffet style food was very varied and extremely good. The staff were all lovely and the guides exceptional, particularly Gabor who deserves a mention for his enthusiasm, information about the area, wildlife and particularly the Aurora hunting! We were lucky enough to see fantastic Aurora displays every night of our stay, and they are truly magical. We had a log cabin with sauna for six nights and an aurora cabin for the last night. Both were clean, warm and comfortable, but the log cabin was better equipped and much more spacious for a longer stay, and the sauna was wonderful to have to relax in after a day of the extremely cold outdoors. The temperature ranged from -5 to -29 while we were there, so a good base layer of merino wool, plus two or three extra layers on top and fleece lined winter walking trousers were a good addition to the padded overalls, boots and mittens that are provided. Good gloves with silk liners, woolen hat, fleeced neck tubes and balaclava are also necessary, with ski goggles good for husky sledging and snowmobiling.||I can highly recommend this holiday for anyone wanting something different and a fairly active time.

It was my first time being in Lapland and happy to experience it in this Amazing place with nice accommodations, wonderful buffet, different activities. Very nice and friendly staffs and tour guides. Very clean cottage with sona inside, I wish we had second bathroom in second floor of our cottage. The experience of staying in Glass Igloo was also great! I personally enjoyed the snowmobile and husky ride… the snowshoes Aurora camp at night recommended.
