Very nice park to walk in, asphalt paths, one goes up a hill to the top where wind spinners are and overlooks Lake Erie. A small sand beach but we still found small pieces of beach glass there! Water was crystal clear, but no swimming allowed because of high bacteria content. Beautiful place to walk, ride a bike, go fishing, or have a picnic at.

Google
The Wilkenson Pointe location has been significantly improved with the addition of the Perro & Pony restaurant, a new patio, more Adirondack chairs, and volleyball courts. There are also new walking and biking trails, a kayak launch, and a park golf course (added fees for golf, kayak/bike rentals), which features oversized clubs and balls that are fun for everyone. Parking is somewhat limited near the facility. There are about two dozen parking spaces, including handicap and EV charging stations. While these are great upgrades, the overall waterfront development has been slow. There's so much potential for further improvement in the underutilized surrounding area.

Google
One of the most beautiful places along the buffalo waterfront. The attached photos are of the large marble remnants of the facade of the original M&T bank main office/branch. This is a great place to spend time walking around enjoying the scenery. There's also a kayak launch and a place to rent.

absolutely gorgeous spot to watch the sunset. they are doing some great renovations and improvements. lots of gorgeous wildflowers as well! beautiful balance of recreation and nature!

Google
Such a let down after them renovating for 2 years. I used to love sitting at a table in the shade with my book and watch my family bring our dogs down there to play and now I can't even do that because the tables and chairs are gone and they build up the rock wall around the beach. The beach is still inaccessible there are giant cement blocks so it's not a straight shot down for a wheelchair and the grass around them is very uneven and hilly like ground for a wheelchair to go over and I got stuck in the rocks and had to ask people to help push me out, then on the way back to the walk way (video is on yelp as you can’t put videos on a google review) my wheelchair was going to flip. There are small simple things that they could have been done, I've been to other beach's that have strips over the sand/ rocks that wheelchairs can ride over. The building looks nice they added a small golf course. To me it seems like all they did was build the restaurant and build up the rock walls especially around the beach.

Google
Nice waterfront area with walking paths, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing. Small restaurant (Perro & Poni) mexican, outdoor walk up service only. Restrooms also in the area and a small beach too. Worth a check before the weather turns.

Google
Great updates! Always loved this area.. and now it’s even nicer! ( not sure it’s worth the $ spent but either way it’s here now.) love walking, biking, bringing my dogs 🐕 along the waterfront. I hope they keep up this momentum!

Google
I used to love going to this place with my dad! I now hate it! I do not think I would want to go back anymore but, I used to want to go all the time. The new building addition is ugly and I hate the Grey the building looks like a place meant for a science lab. This place has lost all of its charm. I loved the little trailer restaurant and it was so cute for bands to preform on top but now it is gone. I am glad they at least kept the volleyball court but it was much better before. I also hate that they blocked off most of the water with those large, ugly, blocky rocks. This place went from being cute, charming, and a fun place to go to to basic, boring, and in my opinion very ugly. What a waste of 11 million dollars! That money could have went towards something that actually needed fixing! Im very upset by this!

Yelp
Spacious and quiet outdoor area, great for dogs or kids to run around. There is ample field space, chairs and paths for walking, biking etc. i love how the "beach" is perfect for dogs (the sign says no swimming or wading) but its a great chance for a dog to be in water for free. The views of the water and downtown were lovely. The park is well maintained, cleaned and not crowded. We went on a Sunday morning around 11 AM, and it was pretty serene. There's also plenty of spots to sit and relax, which could be cute reading areas. There is also a little kids area with slides. Amazing spot. A little windy so I recommend bringing a hair scarf or hat.

Yelp
Beautiful location that has improved over the years in my opinion. Activities range from volleyball, kickball, walking trails, biking, even roller skating, and Fitness in the Parks sponsored by Independent Health. In addition check out their food places, even have the opportunity to enjoy a few alcoholic drinks and just relax. Fun places for families, friends, or to just check out solo. I recently attended with my friend Colleen, Zumba had a great workout, and being near the water was an added bonus. Be sure to check it out, you won't be disappointed looking forward to return for volleyball.

Yelp
I used to love this park but wow has it gone to heck around the playground and sight hill. The weeds are out of control and it looks as if the ground keepers have given up trying to contain them. The sight hill has large metal wind sculptures which are beautiful and I used to love going up there but now I'm scared to see what could attack me from the overgrown bushes. There is a bar area that is well kept. You can order drinks and food and there is plenty of seating for you to enjoy the sights and breeze. Game on (A buffalo adult sports league) plays alot of their games there. Cornhole, volleyball, kickball, etc. The volleyball courts are total rubbish. It isn't sand, it's full of hard rock/gravel. You almost need sneakers to play!

Yelp
I went to Tifft Nature Preserve a few years ago, but somehow I missed this gem. In fact this whole area looks different than I remember. There's bike and walking paths, volleyball courts, a kayak launch, and a beach where you may or may not be able to swim...which is to say we saw people and pets wading and swimming long before we noticed the posted signs saying it isn't allowed. Neither is ice skating if you're there in the winter. Definitely wouldn't defy that rule. There's an interesting assortment of real rocks and fake rocks for climbing, a couple of slides, what looks like a deliberately deconstructed greek column, and even some smaller "benches" that look like they were modeled after ancient Greek ruins. Definitely want to do family pictures here someday. Parking is free. We went on a Friday and nabbed one of two remaining spots in the lot, but there was plenty of parking still available along the side of the road, including closer to the ferry that takes you to Canalside. Oh, there's also a beer garden that serves wine, soda, ice cream, and snacks. Beautiful park. Definitely a must-visit in downtown Buffalo.

Yelp
One of my favorite places on Lake Erie, it seem to fitting thing to review on Earth Day. Earth Day has a long history it started in the 70s and it's all about saving the earth, for future generations. Coming here to Wilkinson point you see what that looks like. It looks like leaving open spaces for the future generations. Places for them to be outside to be on the water to be in the water to be near the water. This remains a very accessible place for anyone who lives in the area who's in the area visiting. That's a beautiful thing for cities to have accessible outdoor space on the water. There's no reason to build anything around here. Update 112 2021

Yelp
Nice walk, windy! Flea market located a little further down on the weekend. Definitely windy and would've liked a beanie! Beautiful although I'd like to try bird island pier!

Yelp
Went here for the first time yesterday and it was a beautiful waterfront area for a walk! Had a dog with me and it was a comfortable place with lots of open spaces. The waterfront with the ice and crystals looked majestic in the early spring and there's some great bike trails on here as well. Passed a good number of joggers who were jogging past. Tifft Nature Preserve is not dog friendly, but this park is and it's right nearby! Overall, for a walk or bike ride - this is a great place to go!
google avatar

Wayne B.

Yelp
Love it there. Plenty for individuals exercising, family adventures, and random exploration. The beach stones are not the most comfortable, but it's a fantastic place to visit during the dog days of summer. Man, I miss those tonight! It's right next to downtown, too, so it's convenient in and out.

Yelp
Located at the outer Buffalo harbor Wilkeson Pointe Park is the perfect place to relax and unwind. At the park there's a kayak launch, bike & kayak rentals, picnic tables, and a nice area to walk around. On the top of the hill are three large steel sculptures that turn in the wind and really catch your attention from afar. There is a beach there but I wouldn't recommend swimming in the water. My husband Dan and I have a even brought our own bikes to ride around in. What a beautiful gem of a park at the Buffalo outer harbor. It's definitely a place you should visit this summer!
google avatar

Angelita G.

Yelp
Came here just to relax by the water and get a nice little breeze on a hot summer morning. It was nice and peaceful not many people there when I went on a thrusday morning. There are signs stating there is no swimming at this beach.

Yelp
I'm not sure what the Pointe of this review is, unless you'd like to hear about my new invention. It's an alcoholic drink, 50% Whiskey, 50% Milk. It's called "Wilk." My son and I are going to open a store that sells it. It's called Wilk & Son. What do you think. One of the most beautiful and unheralded places in Buffalo. This "Pointe" sticks out into Lake Erie close to the mouth of the Niagara River. You get great views of downtown, of all the old factories and General Mills, of the Skyway, and of all the wind turbines, Good times. If you come here at night, though, prepare to be seriously creeped out. The wind spoons make a scary creaking noise and you'll feel like you're in a horror movie - see my video to see what I mean. Then again it can get creepy in the daytime too, as when I was here there were cute girls in micro bikinis complaining to police officers that a man had been stalking them and making lewd, drunk remarks. Happens to me all the time when I wear micro bikinis, so I feel their pain.

Yelp
I think this may be my new favorite summer spot in Buffalo. On a nice sunny day, it's the perfect chill spot to hang out. Amenities: -lots of grass -a huge beer garden with plenty of waterfront seating and lawn games and music playing. Small snack bar and both local beer available on tap and as well as cans. Dogs welcome. -a kayak rental booth and kayak launch -bike rental hut -lots of scattered picnic tables -cool wind sculptures -playground and slides -two volleyball courts -good space for kite flying -great spot to watch sunsets Seriously what else could you want!? There is a small lot located at the park, but there is also plenty of parking space along the street assuming there is not other huge event happening at the outer harbor.

Yelp
I am so happy I discovered Wilkeson Pointe Park this past summer. Back when I was a UB student, the Outer Harbor didn't really exist and now that I'm back, it's as though a whole new world is open to me. No matter where you live, if you're in the Buffalo area, Wilkeson Pointe Park is a necessary element of the summer experience. I spent lots of time at the park in order to take advantage of free fitness classes, mostly yoga, but a few boot camp type classes as well. I loved practicing yoga with the water in the background, imagine total serenity and oddly enough, you get it at the Outer Harbor, even though you're almost literally underneath the skyway and the General Mills plant. I would make it a point (Pointe?) to get there early to just enjoy the sailboats drifting by and to claim the perfect spot where the sun wouldn't get in my eyes during my vinyasa. There's a small parking lot by the boat launch, and plenty of spots on the road leading to the park entrance. My advice would be to carpool if you can, when there's an event, the place can get packed. If you don't have your own kayak, there are rental available, and you can also rent bikes for the winding path. Next summer I plan to take advantage of these amenities, but if I don't, walking the path is just as nice. You'll also find plenty of outdoor activities, I often watched volleyball games and groups running around through the fields. But my real favorite (non yoga) activity? Just sitting in the Adirondack chairs scattered along the beach. Grab a book, and a beer if the beer garden is open, and sit back and enjoy the spectacular view and appreciate that this hidden gem of a park is a hop, skip, and a drive over the skyway from downtown. It's so easy to get caught up in a busy day, and I could just sit in those chairs for hours. Actually, I did do that one day before yoga. Wilkeson Pointe Park is a must do for the warmer months, and I plan to spend plenty of time in yoga class, reading, or just enjoying the scenery. Take a few minutes to enjoy the hidden gems of Buffalo, you'll be glad you did!

Yelp
Really nice park with several places to sit and picnic while you look out at the water and sailboats. I was there for a craft fair and would've never known about this area otherwise.

Yelp
Great place to go jogging, bikeriding, or just walking your furry friend. Theres the skateboard ramps to enjoy also. You can pack a lunch and bask in the beauty of the water and beautiful scenery.

Yelp
This is a beautiful park to go walking the dog, rollerblading, bikeriding or jogging.Perfect place to pack a picnic, sit back, relax and enjoy the water.Theres so much here to observe and do.

Yelp
Wilkeson Pointe is one component of a changing Buffalo. Although this waterfront city is slowly shaking off its rust belt stereotype, there are some large iconic rusty numbers standing in formation. Robert Indiana died earlier this year and this display of his cor-ten steel numbers are a fitting memorial.
google avatar

Miguel L.

Yelp
Great walking/biking place at Outer Harbor. Good pace and relaxing for a Sunday walk. Spotted snake and birds around.
google avatar

Shoshana L.

Yelp
This park has a beach area, huge lawn, playground, beer garden / snack bar, restrooms, bike trails, bike rentals, kayak rentals, paddle board rentals, and even a real kayak launch (in the water, not just pushing off from the beach). Really an enjoyable space. Some people let dogs go off leash, though they do have signs up requesting dogs to remain on leash (I think it's for the city leash law).
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
Gorgeous spot in Buffalo for walking or biking. Can't believe I missed out on this spot for so many years! Perfect spot to enjoy the waterfront or picnic.
google avatar

Doug Y.

Yelp
It's amazing what Buffalo has to offer along the lake front. Wilkerson point has bike rentals, kayak rentals, and a food stand. The bike/ walking trail winds past several parks including Wilkerson and the Union ship Canal park. There are many places with interpretive signs so you can learn about Buffalo history. What a gem!

Yelp
I've always known this place as Wilkeson Point, I thought I loved it before but now I am totally impressed with everything they have done down here. I'll start by saying my favorite part of this place is how dog friendly it is. The dogs are allowed to swim on the beach, there is a large field for them to run around, and the workers at the consumers beverage stand came out with water for our pup right away. Much appreciated. This is one of those hidden gem places that you hope doesn't start to get overcrowded. But it's too good to not share, and I love that it will bring more people to our waterfront. It's a great spot to go have a beer hang out and even watch the sunset with the perks of it not being as crowded as canalside Some features include: -sculpture park, beach, kan jam, corn hole, Jenga at all the picnic tables, huge roped off field, consumers beverage stand, kayak rentals, bathroom is extremely nice for a public park, many Adirondack chairs and other seating, docks, etc. I'll stop myself there :)
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
This park is very beautiful with tons of parking space, beach, volley boy nets and even camp fires. It was truly nice bringing my dog watching the sunset. They had a mini slide, this place is huge. You can walk very far and long. I couldn't even walk the whole thing so there must be other sections of this. It was very nice and there wasn't a lot of people. They also have a fishing selection.
google avatar

Yelp
Over the past few years, the Buffalo Waterfront has become something that you could see out of a magazine. We love going down to the water to walk, ride bikes and enjoy the nature preserve as well. Sometimes, we will kayak out of the launch at Wilkeson Pointe or will carry out a fitness class right at the Pointe.

Yelp
Today was the perfect day to take the little pug's to the beach to walk around and Wilkeson Pointe Park was the perfect place to get that done! My first trip to this park was last fall for some fall type fest that left much to be desired (very small, hardly any food, maybe 2 goats) however, It was a beautiful place to walk around so we decided to come back! Plenty of parking along the street, bike rentals, and even lot's of outdoor seating like swings and chairs provide comfort and fun! We spent some time walking the trail around the park and taking in the beautiful views of the water. Once you get to the end there is a small beach area which is perfect to walk in or let the pups have a little fun (I'm honestly not even sure if that's legal here, so if it's illegal I'm totally joking) This isn't the largest park of it's kind in Buffalo but it's size makes it perfect for a quick walk or bike ride anytime. I had a great time just watching the dogs run around and try and dandelions. We will definitely be coming back soon!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Great place for a walk or bike ride! There's street parking, but skip the car and take the Queen City bike ferry (you don't have to have a bike) for $2 round-trip to get over to the Outer Harbor, and then enjoy exploring. You'll pass the Times Beach Nature Preserve and eventually reach the Numbers sculptures, which make a fun photo op. Check out the Buffalo Waterfront website to see what events are happening before you go: there's often fitness classes and different fairs/fests happening on evenings and weekends. Only downside is that the ferry stops running around 7:45 and the park closes at sunset - definitely a daytime place.

Kathy R.

Yelp
how can buffalo put in a fenced in dog park in this location? Seems like alot of land there.
google avatar

Kayla F.

Yelp
This park is an absolute GEM. My fiancé and I were in town with our pup Gusti. We were searching for a place for our dog to swim and play. This park completely exceeded our expectations (I wish I could bring it back to Baltimore). Perfect little beach for both humans and dogs to swim (there were several other pups playing on the beach), kayak and bike rentals on site, a great bike path, and the best part- an outdoor beer garden, with great beers, a few snacks, and table jenga! If I lived in the area I would be here daily with my pup.
google avatar

Yelp
I am in love. This place gives me a gorgeous view of the city, a phenomenal view of the waterfront and is pretty peaceful despite its proximity to the skyway. At the same time, it's a happening place. Food and beer. Some sports/games too. It's dog friendly and has bike options, paddleboards/kayaks, fishing. Great photo ops with cute bridge, sculptures and, of course, the view. Come picnic and you don't even have to bring food! If you wander away a little bit, there's a great, fairly long, paved trail to walk your dog, jog, or have a romantic stroll. Except for peak times or events, it's not too crowded here either. I will take all my out of town friends and family to visit this place. Yay Bufalo.

Yelp
I came to Wilkeson Pointe Park on my way home from Niagara Falls. I came here to check off my 3rd Great Lake out of the 5. I was disappointed by the deserted creepy location. The park was fully engulfed in snow and the shoreline was at least 3/4 mile away! I saw a parked car there and dog tracks, so I made a judgement to go anyway. Some areas didn't appear to be that deep so I followed the path of shallow snow & footprints. The wind was very strong and I didn't see another human being insight. I got to the Lake to discover it was frozen!! Lol. I can say I did see it in it's frozen state. I didn't stay long because I had this scary feeling. I headed back towards my car unknowingly using a different path trying to leave so quickly. I found myself thigh high in snow and I felt like this could be the end of my life as I know it... not a soul around to help me!! I looked up and witnessed mounds of snow in my pathway!!! My boots had filled with snow, I just couldn't believe it. I decided I wanted to live so I mustard through and made it out alive. Now, I couldn't find my car...Where did it go? My feet and hands were freezing at this point. I started jogging up the street knowing my car had to be somewhere. After about 1/4 mile I found my car and changed my boots and happily drove back home to CT. Thankful for the EPIC memories of Wilkeson Point Park/ Lake Erie and most importantly my life!! Lol. I'm sure it's different in-season......I hope.

Yelp
On of my favorite places to go in the summer! Mainly because of the kayak launch they have. Parking is limited especially on days and times of the week when people are out of work, but if you can find time to go when a majority of Buffalo is at work, parking will not be difficult. If you are going to kayak you can always unload your kayaks at launch and find parking on the street. I can't believe how much has changed since last summer. You are now able to rent kayaks, paddle boards and bikes right there. Consumers has a concession, The Pointe, with beer and some food - not sure of the hours. There are chairs and swings to sit on and enjoy the view. The park is fun to walk around. There is a path that connects Wilkeson Pointe with other areas at the Outer Harbor. If you've never been check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
beach Dhaegs playground bocci? " well this is really wilkeson point. It's a great place to walk your dog, play fetch with them in the water. Plan is once the sand study is completed at the beach, it should become an active swimming beach complete with lifeguards! (that's what the weird mesh netting thing is in the middle of the beach) you can play beach volleyball down here! there is talk of a bocci court to be installed AND there's a water taxi dock for outer harbor concerts!

Yelp
This is pretty much the only place I've ridden my bike and jogged around the city. It's very relaxing by the water. There's a small beach and restrooms nearby with doggie water. I love that the bike trail goes a long the water, into the woods, down by the lighthouse, over to Tifft. Whatever floats your meditation or exercise for the day.
