"A Green Oasis in Detroit If you are looking for a quick escape from the bustle of the city, head for William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor, a green oasis in downtown Detroit. The harbor features a 63-foot replica of the Tawas Point lighthouse and offers several covered picnic areas as well as shoreline fishing. Over the last decade, much of the area has been redeveloped as wetlands and there are displays explaining how the wetlands clean and return water to the Detroit River. The RiverWalk passes all the way through the park, as does a bike path that links the park to Atwater Street."

This place is gorgeous! I got to walk around and I love that while you can look across and see the Canadian flag the water is beautiful! There are plenty of places you can sit in nature in the grass or on benches. It’s a beautiful scenic walk and they also have stationary public binoculars that allows you to see on the water etc. plenty of things to do!

Review for William G Milliken State Park ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The park is simply beautiful, especially at night. The calmness of the water, combined with the reflection of the lights, creates a peaceful detachment from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It's a serene experience that allows you to unwind and enjoy nature's beauty. This park is definitely one to remember and a place I look forward to revisiting. Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility and picturesque scenery.

I had an amazing time at this marina, my friend is a slip owner here and offered an up day fishing trip, and all the folks were awesome. I honestly can't say much about other attractions since I just boarded him boat and hit the river. However he did share that there are plenty of walking areas around the facility and that the DNR museum is a great place to visit.

Very, very rare that you would have a state park right in the city right on the riverfront, but that’s what is here. They well for lack of a better word “beautified it“ but they’ve brought back the natural environment so it’s all wildlife and I’ll have to take more photos since the sun is going down These places are new to me. I’ve never been on top of this hill. It’s absolutely stunning view of the city of Detroit downtown Detroit, and just about everything.

Lived in Metro Detroit for the majority of my life. This is such a great and on to the riverfront. It is worth spending a day to enjoy this area!

Google
It was a nice nature walk on the river front. I saw lots of different birds this morning. It's a perfect place to see the sunrise. Although there was a lot of fog this morning, it was still a beautiful site. Seeing nature in the city is something on its own. There are places to sit, exercise, and play. The walk connects various parks together. You can even walk trails through the wetlands. I walked to the lighthouse and back. It was very beautiful. You can also stop and visit the outdoor adventure center since it's on the way to the lighthouse.

Pro tip: get there early for free street parking. Rent a bike to see the entire park. Great place to go before an evening Tigers game.

Google
Fun water side walk with cool views of Detroit river. There is a nice walk path with great views and a lighthouse. Even more fun to rent one of the scooters and ride through. It only costs 14-20$ a scooter to ride around for 40 mins to hour. Lots of cool exercise areas and we saw people fishing as well.

Yelp
What a picturesque, beautiful, and clean, riverside park! It's a wonderful place to visit for a morning walk. There are walkers, dog walkers, and cyclists of many ages and cultures. The Detroit River view is calming. There are boaters and many with motorized water toys out enjoying the space. You can see straight across to Canada. It's a wonderful feature and part of Detroit. Don't miss it!

Yelp
As you continue along the riverwalk, you will venture into this park which is a continuance of the path but with more park benches, and sites of the water. Not to mention a place where you may encounter ducks and pigeons. Of course you're here for the view of the water and downtown Detroit as you jog/stroll/bike/pet-walk your way through here. You may also encounter some strange beautiful people playing an instrument or displaying their bodies as some type of art exhibit. Even in the cold weather!

Yelp
This is part of the D's Riverwalk. This section is a great spot to relax with the cafe and lounge chairs by the river. The merry go round is whimsical and great for families. Best part, free parking.

Yelp
This park is a bit of an addendum to the larger riverwalk area. Some notable features include a lighthouse, bathroom facilities, and a hill that offers a nice view of the cityscape. When some sort of festival was going on, I chanced into an encounter with a captured sturgeon, which is a very strange fish to look at, let alone to touch. On most days, sturgeon petting is likely unavailable, leaving the park as a site you'd likely pass through between the greenway trail and the riverfront attractions.

Yelp
William G Milliken State Park is an AOK venue that's located on the Riverwalk. Tip: There are a number of educational stations within; I suggest you stop and read the available info when you visit this park This park isn't as green as some of the similar venues on the Canadian side of the river, it's worth a visit to absorb the educational material that's offered at the stations here.

Yelp
Great spot to relax. It is a part of the river walk but it feels less congested and more peaceful. Definitely worth a stroll.

Yelp
This is a must stop if you are ever in Detroit. It has a great view of the Detroit river and to me is fascinating that you can catch a glimpse of Canada while enjoying fresh air and taking a nice walk. I visited the park over the winter and it wasn't busy at all - nobody wants to take a walk when it's 38 degrees outside, I get it. But when I visited it was snowed so it was a perfect place to take some winter wonderland vibes pictures. There's places where you can get coffee and trails to make this an entertaining and active experience!

Yelp
Love this little park and its location on the Detroit river. Pavilions are well kept and the grounds are always clean. Great views of the river and Canada. Easy access to the Riverwalk . Like to stop in and sit for awhile whenever we are in the vicinity. Definitely a go to place in my book.

Yelp
It's so amazing that Detroit has a state park so close to downtown. I walked up to the lighthouse and through the state park just as the sun was setting, and the sky looked beautiful. I felt like I was like in Maine and not in Michigan. This is just one of many parts of Detroit that reveal how much the city has to offer, how much people are sleeping on and underestimating it. It's nice to also walk by the docks and see boats, it reminded me of marinas I've seen in Baltimore and Boston, except here was more beautiful. There aren't really enough words to describe how wonderful this place is, except you should really check it out if you haven't already. It's free and open most of the day.

Yelp
This place is beautiful. I never knew it existed and now that I do I'll definitely be back. I was here for the 40th anniversary of the Detroit Free Press 5k. I really liked the open grounds which included several covered areas that would be big enough for a large gathering of people. I feel this adds to the hidden gem quality of this park. It's a great alternative to more well known and crowded parks in the area. The best part about this park is the walking path along the river with views of downtown Detroit, the Detroit river and Canada. I was particularly taken by the tall white lighthouse. I've not seen one in this area before and I stopped after the 5k to take some photos with it. I think this would be a great place to bring family and friends to do photos for a special occasion.

Yelp
This park has Something for everyone. Fishing, trails, sandbox, playground, historical markers and a beautiful view of Downtown Detroit. Great place to walk after eating, spending time with family or a nice place to take the kids for a day of fun. I would definitely come back down here on the weekends to enjoy a nice walk and people watch. This is a place you can spemd the entire day and not get bored. The park is conveniently located downtown and can be reach by all means. Walking, biking and there's parking nearby.

Yelp
This was a great place. Took the boat to the tigers game and parked here for the day. It was a good rate, but you'll want to call ahead. It's about a $7-10 Uber ride to the ball park. The marina had very clean bathrooms and it was gated. All around very very happy with the experience. It just be my new way downtown! Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a really nice park! The picnic for my family reunion was held here this past Saturday. The adjoining pavilions were the perfect size to accommodate our large group. The location also provided a wonderful view of the Detroit skyline, and harbor to the Detroit River. The park also has a really nice trail to take you right along the river. It seemed to be a good place for boating, bicycling, and fishing as well. There's a building with restrooms with indoor plumbing as well, which was a nice feature. This park is also nearby Riverwalk which served as a nice escape full of activities for all of us to enjoy.

Yelp
First Thing, Parking is way down the street. you can't find the sign to even know where this place is and come on you guys call this a park but you don't even have a place to let people use the bathroom? I don't understand what is the real purpose of this place other than to separate the Yachts from the people who want to run on the Riverwalk? Sure it's across from the DNR building that's a good thing. What I don't understand what is the real intended use for the park as you call it? The picnic tables are so far away from the river that you are literally sitting on the canal and you will be eaten up by the mosquitoes. Why can't they put some picnic tables back closer to the water? The reason we are at this park is to see the water? Not to see the canal. I don't understand if this is a state park why doesn't it provide the same standard as most state parks in Michigan? This is a totally confusing . I'm glad that I came here to a Yelp Elite event because I would never have found it otherwise. Thank you very much Chelsie for inviting us down to the river. Maybe we can figure out how to better use this park if we can really figure out where the facilities are since we don't have boats LOL. If you are planning to come to this park it is best to stop right at the sidewalk and unload anything you will be using and then try and find yourself some parking down close to Chene Park which is where the lot is. Also if it is during an event at Chene park you will have to pay. That's what makes no sense to me. You put a park here but you don't put any parking for the people using the park? Wow what planning.

Yelp
I thought this place was actually pretty nice, considering my pro-nature and anti-Detroit mentality. It's kind of tucked away from the busier parts of the near Downtown area, but the buildings in the background provide good photo opportunities. When I was there, I saw several workers keeping the area clean, and there's emergency phones for security. The parking is lacking, and the nearest lot is a bumpy dirt lot across the street. It is a state park, but no park pass is necessary for parking or entry. There's not much to the park itself, but it is a clean and relaxing environment for walking, fishing, or bike riding. I thought it was odd how one walking path isn't connected to the other, so if you walk to the light tower, you have to turn back and walk all the way back around to get to the other side. It's like that so the boats tucked in the small harbor can get in and out. The restrooms looked like they were a hundred years old, but they were functional. It's a place where if you're just wandering around Detroit, it's worth stopping for a half hour or so.

Yelp
These are the nicest vantage points of downtown I found. Very pretty despite being relatively simple. Be sure to check out the lighthouse.

Yelp
The state park is Michigan's first in an urban place. It's a nice bridge between the River Walk and Chene Park, and I look forward to it being expanded. It's nice for bike riding (rent a bike from Wheelhouse maybe) as it currently covers 31 acres of land. There are also marina slips, if you're looking for a place to dock your boat. By 2009 the TriCen should be extended all the way to the Rivard Plaza. This will be a crowning jewel right on Detroit's riverfront.
