I thought this place was actually pretty nice, considering my pro-nature and anti-Detroit mentality. It's kind of tucked away from the busier parts of the near Downtown area, but the buildings in the background provide good photo opportunities. When I was there, I saw several workers keeping the area clean, and there's emergency phones for security. The parking is lacking, and the nearest lot is a bumpy dirt lot across the street. It is a state park, but no park pass is necessary for parking or entry.
There's not much to the park itself, but it is a clean and relaxing environment for walking, fishing, or bike riding. I thought it was odd how one walking path isn't connected to the other, so if you walk to the light tower, you have to turn back and walk all the way back around to get to the other side. It's like that so the boats tucked in the small harbor can get in and out. The restrooms looked like they were a hundred years old, but they were functional. It's a place where if you're just wandering around Detroit, it's worth stopping for a half hour or so.
