When I first called to make a reservation for 2 Overlook Tastings, they said that Overlook was entirely "sold out" and that they can only accommodate Estate Tasting, which was wine and food pairing. When we arrived, there were only 2 other groups with plenty of open socially distanced seating. Not sure why the Overlook Tasting was "sold out"?
Service was a little weird. We checked in with our reservation and they immediately poured us 4 glasses of white and didn't quite explain what the white was and told us that it was "open outdoor seating, so go find a seat and we'll come find you". I was immediately confused because I specifically booked a tasting for 2 with party of 4 (we had 2 designated drivers). But hey, we're already there...so we went ahead and found our outdoor seats.
As soon as we sat down, they came out with a tray of 4 flights, 4 metal boxes with snacks, handed each of us a wine club pamphlet, said "enjoy", and left. We were left slightly confused and not quite sure how to proceed. It would have been nice to learn a little about the wine and history while we were there, but I guess I can always google that when I got home.
The "Estate Tasting" can be re-labeled to "Tasting with random snacks".
When I made the reservation after they made me to book the Estate Tasting, they mentioned that this would be a curated pairing of wine and snacks. It was nice to have something to nibble on, but when we finally found someone to ask about what food pairs with what, the response we got was "don't worry about it".
The wine we tasted were really good, we all liked the 2nd red. Would have purchased a few bottles but the entire service was kind of weird so we paid and left empty handed.
