"Best for a digital detox "Sometimes you just need to disconnect, and Willka T’ika is one of the most incredible spots in the world to do so. Located in Peru’s Sacred Valley of the Incas, near Machu Picchu and other ancient ruins, the 26-room boutique hotel is surrounded by the Andes mountains and was created in part to honor Pachamama, the Andean deity who represents Mother Earth. With such a strong focus on nature, it should come as no surprise that Willka T’ika doesn’t have TVs or phones in the rooms, and only offers Wi-Fi in designated areas—perfect for a soul-reviving digital detox. And while the property has been a staple in wellness circles since it opened in 1995, they launched a new seven-day “Essential Wellness” program earlier this year, designed to help you restore your body, mind, and soul during difficult pandemic times. Each day of the program targets one of the seven chakras, or energy centers, of the human body through traditional Andean healing ceremonies, vegetarian farm-to-table meals, immunity-boosting juices and teas, yoga, breathtaking hikes, and time spent in their beloved Seven Chakra Gardens. Don’t miss the coca leaf reading with Layka, a traditional Andean healer who’s been with the property for more than 20 years."

On my last day I was asking “Do I really need to go home?” The experience here at Willka Tika was truly exceptional. It is: an oasis, a place to relax and rejuvenate, a slice of heaven here on earth. From excellent, vegetarian, organic food, to clean, comfortable accommodations, to a staff that does everything they can to accommodate your wishes, your stay will be highlighted by the the gardens that make you feel like you are in nirvana. You cannot go wrong by selecting this place as your home base in the Sacred Valley. I will be back to this magical place and plan on bringing my daughters with me to share the incredible experience of what is Willka Tika.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Willka T’ika. I came with my husband and two (young adult) children, and we all loved it. The gardens are gorgeous, and the rooms are spacious, clean, private, and well appointed — while also blending very well with the natural environment. It was really cosy and very comfortable. And the food! All vegetarian, all delicious, and really varied. My favorite was the pumpkin soup, which incorporated local spices and was so flavorful. We did yoga together in the mornings, and the teacher was really knowledgeable, friendly and experienced. It was challenging and we felt great after each class. And best of all was the staff. Everyone was warm and friendly, seemed to take a genuine interest in us, and really care that we have a good experience. Willka T’ika was really special for us, and gave us a terrific home base to spend quality time together as a family and also as a launching point to explore the Sacred Valley. We are grateful to all the staff there!

Willka Tika is one of the most extraordinary retreat centers I’ve ever experienced. From the moment you step onto the grounds, you feel the energy of the ancient lucuma tree — over a thousand years old — guiding the land’s design and purpose. Every building, from the yoga studio with its warm natural light to the ceremonial temple nestled among the flowers, feels intentionally created to nourish body and spirit. The chakra gardens are exquisite: each one alive with color, scent, and symbolic harmony. The staff radiate kindness and genuine care, ensuring that every guest feels seen and supported. What makes Willka Tika even more special is its heart for the local Quechua community — providing ongoing support for nearby schools and families. Knowing that your stay contributes to something so meaningful adds another layer of beauty to the experience. Truly a sacred place of transformation.

Willka T’ika is pure magic!! I’ve truly never experienced anything like it. They have breathtaking gardens alive with energy and intention — every flower, path, and sacred space carefully nurtured. The staff went above and beyond to make every detail of my stay unforgettable, and the experiences woven into the retreat far exceeded my expectations. It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a sanctuary for the soul — where nature, healing, and beauty come together in the most extraordinary way. I left feeling deeply restored and inspired, already counting the days until I can return for another retreat. Willka T’ika is a one-of-a-kind treasure in Peru, and I can’t recommend it highly enough

This retreat is absolutely magical. The hospitality, food, rooms, gardens, and overall ambience made our visit tremendously unforgettable. Delicious vegetarian breakfast and dinner are included and allowed us to taste fresh offerings from the on-site gardens - which are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. In the dining room, we ate with other travelers, which was an absolute treat. We met lovely people. Also in the dining area, there was always hot water and herbs from the garden available for authentic tea. The rooms are fantastic, including wonderful showers. The rooms are clean and roomy. We stayed during the South American winter, and every night the staff placed two hot water bottles in our sheets. What a treat! Speaking of the staff, they were professional, polite, and effective. We were fortunate enough to experience the outdoor hot water baths with Jasmine and eucalyptus leaves. They were unforgettable. I really can't say enough about what a wonderful place Willka T'ika is.

Willka T’ika was truly an amazing place and experience. The retreat center had everything and more. We did not know what to expect, but everything was better than advertised. The gardens are stunning, the rooms are cozy, the experiences are extremely authentic and the staff is probably the best of the whole experience. Extremely welcoming, kind and warm. Peru is a special place, but Willka T’ika is truly one of a kind!

I recently took a retreat to Willka T’ika and the joy is overwhelming. The gardens, art, and buildings upon arriving were better than anywhere I have stayed. It was a dream. The staff treated us like family and were so accommodating. Everything was provided and beyond - Roxanna even helped make special tea for congestion!! I really enjoyed the gardens to connect with earth and above. The massage by Gaby was phenomenal - so much attention to my comfort. The floral bath, sweat lodge, ceremonies, and visits from healers was seriously life altering. I will return and recommend everyone who wants to dive deeper into life’s gifts go there. Thank you to the team there for making this such a magical experience.

My experience at Willka T'ilka was truly more extraordinary than I anticipated. I just participated in the Essential Wellness Retreat and I can honestly say it was the most beautiful and transformational experience. When you first arrive at Willka T'ika you feel as if you've stumbled upon a secret paradise. The grounds are lush with countless brilliantly colored flowers and the air filled with their fragrant scents. You immediately feel your nervous system settling as you hear the hum of happy bees and delightful chirping of birds. This was my first time in Peru and I had no idea what to expect, but the Sacred Valley is truly a magical location. In addition to the utter gorgeousness of the property, everyone who works at Willka T'ika is just so lovely. Each member of the staff at this magical place embraces you with such warmth that by the end of your stay, you feel as though you're saying goodbye to family. Everyone there exudes such a pure energy of love and joy. The food is beyond delicious! I am so glad I purchased their cookbook because since coming home, nothing tastes quite as good. Having fresh herbs available any time of day to make fresh tea from has me making plans to replant my garden in hopes I can replicate the wonderful chamomile tea. And I have never before liked chamomile tea! The rooms are lovely and each night you are left a hot water bottle tucked into your bed. Filtered water is left in a pitcher in the bathroom for brushing your teeth, along with pretty robes to use if you visit the solar bath or sweat lodge. Everything is very clean and they provide hand washed / air dried laundry service. The retreat was absolutely wonderful. We started each day as a group doing yoga, followed by a delicious breakfast, and depending on the day, had truly heart opening hikes and/or spiritual ceremonies. Each day was focused on a different chakra with thoughtful care given to aligning the food, yoga practice, activity of the day to that chakra. I am beyond grateful to Terry, Tristen, Verena, Samer, Roxana and the entire Willka T'ika family for creating this soul-filling experience. And to Carol for turning her vision into such a sacred space for others to visit. I cannot wait to come
