"While South Africa isn’t known for its sushi, you can easily satisfy your craving in Cape Town at Willoughby & Co. The menu at this waterfront restaurant is encyclopedic—there’s everything from Boston clam chowder and spaghetti marinara to prawn curry and teriyaki chicken ramen, but sushi is the star. Try the chili-seared tuna sashimi or the tuna roll with caviar sesame seeds."

"Willoughby’s has been in the V&A Waterfront for decades, right in the middle of the action, which makes for great post-retail-therapy sushi refueling. Come here for reliable, consistent, flapping-fresh fish—whether you spring for the Cajun-style calamari, fish-and-chips, seared sashimi, spicy and creamy rock shrimp, or 4x4 California rolls, you really can’t go wrong." - Jane Broughton

Thank you Grace for your service. We really enjoyed our lunch today! Especially the sushi and ramen 🍜! No reservations are accepted, especially on holidays, you need to queue up! The food is very diverse

After hearing so much about Willoughby, I finally decided to brave the queue. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. While waiting, I felt overlooked and uncomfortable, as though I didn’t quite fit the mold of the regular clientele. Once seated, we waited 15 minutes before our server, Kevin, arrived without any introduction or welcome. He took our order silently and never returned to check in. Our table also remained uncleared for quite some time. Maybe he was having a bad day?! I’m so sorry?! The sushi was decent, but certainly not on par with the hype. Overall, the experience felt more about maintaining a status image than providing memorable service or food. I don’t plan on returning. Our 4 year old had queen prawns, it was very basic with minimal flavour, and the wedges were dry. My husband and I both had 5x5.. nice.

Very good food and fresh sushi. If you are looking for halal food just be aware that the soy sauce is not halal it contains alcohol. Other wise the food was delicious.

A nice restaurant with a wide variety of options on the menu. Overall the food was good, but considering the price, I expected more in terms of flavor the fish, in particular didn’t taste great, but the rest of the dishes were enjoyable. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better.

We had the grilled calamari, prawn curry, linefish of the day, grilled queen prawns (8 per portion), and crème brûlée. Everything was delicious! The only dish that felt a bit heavy was the prawn curry due to its rich sauce. If I were to visit again, I eat definitely linefish of the day with chips. Overall, the experience was worth the price for the quality of food and service.

My wife and I were taken out for a treat - my first visit here. The waiters were sharp and I loved the food - hopefully the photos tell the rest.

Sat at the bar and every item coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. We had sashimi, some sushi and nigiri and the sunomono salad. The salad was the highlight although everything was excellent. We chose the malva pudding with custard for dessert and literally wanted to lick the plate clean. Food was so good we went back 2 days later for a repeat experience which was just as delicious

A local recommended this restaurant and really hyped it up saying that the seafood / sushi was super fresh and tasty. We came here fairly late in the evening (around 9pm) and weren’t very hungry but we tried the sushi and sashimi. Both did taste fresh and tasty. I asked for no mayonnaise. It seemed quite westernised sushi rather than authentic but was enjoyable to eat. Service was pleasant.
