"While South Africa isn’t known for its sushi, you can easily satisfy your craving in Cape Town at Willoughby & Co. The menu at this waterfront restaurant is encyclopedic—there’s everything from Boston clam chowder and spaghetti marinara to prawn curry and teriyaki chicken ramen, but sushi is the star. Try the chili-seared tuna sashimi or the tuna roll with caviar sesame seeds."

"Willoughby’s has been in the V&A Waterfront for decades, right in the middle of the action, which makes for great post-retail-therapy sushi refueling. Come here for reliable, consistent, flapping-fresh fish—whether you spring for the Cajun-style calamari, fish-and-chips, seared sashimi, spicy and creamy rock shrimp, or 4x4 California rolls, you really can’t go wrong." - Jane Broughton

I recently visited Willoughby Restaurant, eager to see what all the hype was about. I was pleasantly surprised! The sushi was decent, featuring fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations. The standout aspect of my visit was the service—staff members greeted us with genuine smiles, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for good resturant

Willoughby & Co. is a gem when it comes to dining in Cape Town! The service was truly amazing—attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food? Simply incredible! Every bite was packed with flavor, and you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The only reason I’m not giving it a full 5 stars is the ambiance when dining in the mall's hall. While it's comfortable, it doesn't quite match the elevated dining experience of the food and service. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to eat inside the restaurant itself, which I imagine offers a completely different vibe. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to return for another meal here. It’s an absolute must-try spot, and I highly recommend it!

Good seafood restaurant in a shopping mall. It came highly recommended, but fell short of impressive. The waiter, Allen, was attentive and helpful with the menu. Service was good. Everything came out hot and fresh. Fish and chips calamari were very good. Nicely battered and the calamari was tender and not overcooked. The Malay Curry on rice was good, but the “curry” was more like tomato sauce than a curry. One of our group had a steak and enjoyed it. Two in our group had Kingclip, a local fish which they said was very good. Unfortunately, we were not aware of Kingclip when we ordered and having a local fish probably would have improved my experience. Wine by the glass or carafe. Extensive menu. We did not try the sushi. The food was good, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. You are right next to the pier, but not a window or patio to enjoy it.

Wow - this place was recommended to me by so many locals during my 1.5mo in Cape Town & I totally see why! I gave the server my top sushi options and asked him to surprise me. His choice of the Rock Salmon Roll did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious food, and agree with the other reviews that the service is also top notch.

This restaurant serves sushi that is a straight 10/10 incl. service easily. We counted 16 waiters which is humongous for the relatively small size compared to this number. The sushi was so tasty, we will definitely come back. The waiter Josh was very kind. Thank you very much! We can highly recommend and will definitely come back.

The food is wonderful and so are the cocktails. Service was okay and the dining experience is alright but it’s in the middle of the mall. It gets really full and the line can get insanely long.

Wow! What an amazing restaurant. No wonder they're always so packed. The food was fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for. Fish, sushi and any other sea creature you after, fresh and well put together! Whether you going on your own or wanting a place to eat with the family this should be your go to spot!.

Incredible sushi and our server Devon was 10/10 - incredibly polite, attentive and friendly. My second time and would definitely return again - really, really enjoyed.
