We stayed at Willowbeck Lodge this weekend on our way home to Scotland. Its location is so convenient just 1 mile off the M6. First class, modern accommodation with beautiful furnishings and fixtures. The owner kindly upgraded us upon arrival to one of the superior rooms. We ate in the restaurant, food was first class and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice and could be ordered the night before. The grounds are stunning and parking was very convenient. We will definitely be visiting again.

What a wonderful hidden gem, amazing. A bright, airy & welcoming hotel - modern but cozy all in one. There are only a handful of rooms, ours was Willow which was very big, super comfortable bed, separate dressing room & truly magnificent & luxury bathroom (a bathtub big enough for 6ft 3 husband is a rare find!!!!). Sadly we are here for just one night on our way back from Scotland because this would have been a great spot to stay longer. The restaurant was great, after an 8 hour drive they just wrapped us up & looked after us. Brilliant & amazing just 5 minutes off motorway.

A lovely oasis of calm but only 10 minutes from the M6. Well appointed comfortable bedrooms, welcoming staff and a nice restaurant. Menu was small enough to guarantee seasonality and local produce, but large enough to suit most tastes - thoroughly enjoyed meal. Good night's sleep but sadly had to leave just as breakfast service was starting.

Just had a fantastic 1 night stay at Willowbreck and it didn't disappoint. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. Our room (Ash) was clean and tidy with a Juliet balcony. The bathroom was nice with a shower. Meals were lovely and nothing was too much bother for them. As it's only a mile off the M6 we would definitely be using Willowbreck as a stop off when travelling and visiting the area.

Small and perfectly formed this oasis of a retreat just off the M6 is a great place to take a restful break on a long journey. |Staff friendly. Good parking. |Would recommend for couples. Breakfast very nice. Set within a nice walk to the village centre.

We stayed overnight and booked dinner in the restaurant, although this wasn't necessary as the four of us were the only guests staying or eating there.||The bedrooms were tiny (booked as standard doubles) with no wardrobe - the only hanging space was an over-door rail. We felt afterwards that they could have given us an upgrade since we were the only customers! It was an eerie experience being the only guests and there were no staff on duty in the building overnight.||The retaurant was emply, apart from us, and although we had been asked to choose our meal on arrival, it didn't taste as if it had been well prepared. My starter of heritage beetroot salad with goat's cheese was pretty tasteless and my main course of halibut in lobster sauce was dry and disappointing. The portion was pretty meagre too. Breakfast was another let down with toasted plastic bread and a dry kipper. ||The poor staff tried their best but they were fighting a losing battle. No amount of smiling and pleasantries was going to make this experience any better.

Went with another couple, after spending a pleasant weekend together on Hadrians wall. We were heading south - the were heading north so a restaurant close to the M6 seemed to a good idea for somewhere to say our "Goodbyes"|Sunday lunch - Awful|Not much choice (Nothing like what the website suggested)|Fish and chips served on a stone cold plate - mushy peas cold. Fish similar somethhing that had been warmed up on top of the range at a back street chipy and served with a portion of batter scraps. (Much more batter than actual fish).|Definitely a place to avoid in future

After a 400 mile drive we were glad to see such a wonderful hotel. The grounds are impressive, and the staff very good. It is convenient for Carlisle and the M6. If you're in Ash room then mind your head, as the eaves make it tricky. Well recommended.
