The place was clean and the location was amazing. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and beach. The snack shack was never open with no sign saying why they were closed or when they were open. We enjoyed our stay, but I might choose another spot next time. I took off 1 star for not having any place to dry our wet things… the only option was the balcony chairs which is not enough space and not helpful when the air is cool. I took off another star because the staff was not friendly. The lady who booked my reservation in July was delightful, but the people working the front desk were not at all friendly, and the maids didn’t speak English so you can’t communicate with them. When I arrived, the maids were all hanging out in the lobby, and one gave me a very dirty look that rubbed me the wrong way from the start. All I did was walk in the door. The lady who checked me in didn’t tell me anything… nothing about the WiFi or accommodations or where anything is… just handed me the cards and told me the room number. I really wanted to love this place, but the staff… not so much.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were nice and clean, the view was lovely and housekeepers did an amazing job keeping everything nice and clean. I was very displeased with the receptionist this time. It was an African American lady who was very friendly but she never answers the phone and after you call and call the office, then go all the way down there to find her sitting back chilling on her phone (very obviously worth nothing to do) that really sent me because I already try not to take the elevator because the maids have to use it. Coffee is also not available until after 7am daily which is a little late for me, no breakfast, no coffee pots in rooms, the hot tub was too dirty to use and I didn't see it cleaned the whole week we were there (that's because it wasn't btw). For what we paid a night here i expected more honestly. They are also not pet friendly like everyone else in the area. Carpets were nasty but i was told they are in the process of taking them out and putting vinyl down but I don't think I'll be going back next year. I hear the Atlantis is great and they aren't that much more which I found crazy!

We stayed the weekend of 9/26/25. Could not ask for better accommodation! Room was great, front desk staff friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, beachfront and close to great restaurants. Highly recommended !

We've been here a few times & it's become our favorite. Very reasonable prices, clean & quiet. We love that they have the chairs & umbrella for you on the beach too. We'll definitely be coming back.

Our first time to Atlantic Beach and we loved it. The hotel was great, very clean. Thankful for the lil snack shack. I forgot my beach bag! So the hotel has pool towels and the shack had sunscreen. Life saver. Very convenient and the prices were perfect. Loved sitting on the balcony. Will absolutely return.

Google
Absolutely ridiculous cancellation policy!! Claudia took my reservation, I specifically asked if I could get free cancellation as long as I cancelled within the time frame. I was told yes. I just called to cancel within the time frame, and they are keeping $30. Not a single thing was told to me about the $30, it apparently is in small print on your receipt AFTER you pay your deposit. I was told to call back in 2 days to cancel my reservation with the woman who made the reservation because for some reason, the lady working at the desk today (Monday) couldn’t do it. By then it will be after the cancellation time frame! Sounds like a big scam! 100% do not recommend! I will be taking it up with my bank. I absolutely never agreed to letting them keep $30 and was never informed beforehand.

Google
Beautiful outside of the hotel, Right on the beach . Rooms aren’t bad , balcony is nice other than you hear others heating and air units and can’t hear the ocean as good , you can see the ocean on all floors other than first if you’re standing you can see on second floor ,bushes next to shower coming off the beach should be lowered so second floor can see the ocean better , there was pubic hair on my toilet , cob webs in the elevator , people coming off the beach were loud all hours of the night but the hotel can’t really control that , would have liked a indoor pool and hot tub because it rains rains a lot , kids should not be allowed in hot tub up to certain age , people should control their kids better , beds should be bigger in rooms double just isn’t where it’s at now days . MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS TUB STOPPING FAST WHILE SHOWERING, and the smell of the detergent or cleaning products they use smells really weird and not everyone will like it and it’s very strong and the smell of pot every where through the place even though it says none or you will be fined , the fridge doesn’t even keep things cool so the fruit was ruined . Drinks weren’t cool they were just room temp but realized the fridge wasn’t plugged up , can’t shut microwave because it will come on and the floor is very slippery on tile it’s horrible !!!!

This was actually my second visit to Windjammer Inn as I went last year on a solo trip, but this year I went with my significant other. The hotel is clean which is what matters most to me right down to the balcony. Some of the furnishings are older, but still in great condition. The bed and pillows are comfortable. They have a nice, spacious pool and hot tub. There are two lagoons that are decoration, but I think the hotel should really consider making those an additional pool or hot tub space. The hotel is quiet with minimal noise and it did not feel overcrowded. It really has a peaceful, relaxing vibe. We went during hurricane Helene, but despite a little rain here and there, the weather wasn’t too bad on the NC coast. I will return in the future. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Yelp
We stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend. Overall, it was a very nice experience. A few notes: we got the jacuzzi room on the first floor near the office and the controls didn't work. It turned on but no adjustments. The rooms are quaint but a smidge outdated and the blanket had holes, but was otherwise tidy. All rooms look out onto the patio or the beach and it's a great view. The pool was nice and not cold. The hot tub was a smidge too warm for my liking but my babe loved it. They don't offer breakfast but do have coffee in the office in the morning. Directly off the patio is the boardwalk to the beach. Overall a great lil place to stay. We will be back.

Yelp
I really like this place in all aspects but one. The staff are very nice. The view of the beach from the 3rd floor and up is amazing. Access to the beach is great. I have been staying here twice a year for a long time. If you like to surface, this is a good place to stay. There are several restaurants in Atlantic Beach and Morehead City that are very good (my favorite is Dank Burrito). The only reason that I don't give the Windjammer 5 stars is the unreliable WiFi. The manager told me that they only have one company that can provide them with internet access and they are not dependable. Apparently, they are planning to change the way they provide the hotel with their network, but I have been hearing that for several years. However, I'll stick with the Windjammer for my get-away hotel!

Yelp
I hate to rate this place because it is a diamond in the rough. Great place, not a name brand. Reasonable prices All rooms above the second floor have ocean view. From April to October they have a big hot tub. Lounge chairs on the beach. Not sure there is a better place in eastern North Carolina. We come here twice a year and are never disappointed.

Yelp
We first stayed there about 20 years ago. It was a great place then and even better now. I love it.

Yelp
Just left the Windjammer. Stayed on the third floor. By 9 pm the entire area reeked of marijuana. Called the front desk. She was totally unhelpful and unprofessional. Said police came and made a report and they smelled nothing . She lied.. I called Pine Knolls Police Dept. They came. Smelled it in the elevator off third floor but made no report because of the time and so many rooms to check. I am not a Karen by the way. I just hate the smell of it. Party in if you must but do it away from us who don't partake. The Hotel should have moved us or at the very least brought some sort of fan to the room. My biggest complaint is the level of unprofessionalism by the front desk lady/ manager . I did call back down and asked for the police report and again she lied She said they were waiting for the police to drop it by . Also, the carpets in the rooms were so filthy. Our socks turned black and so did the bottoms of our feet. I will never return.

Yelp
This was a lot minute trip so was surprised when I called that they had a room available. I was not expecting much so to my surprise was happy when we got our room. The front desk staff were so nice. Our room was beautiful. A bit small but I would say standard for the age of hotel but has been completely renovated and looks fresh and modern. View was amazing. There is a pool and hot tub. They also offer chairs and umbrellas to use. There are 2 lagoons (decoration only so no getting in) they are relaxing with the waterfall. There are cabanas around the large lagoon to lounge on. We did have an issue with one of our towels being dirty with what looked to be stains Pros: updated rooms Amazing view Free use of chairs and umbrellas Pool and hot tub Cons: no breakfast Lagoons seem to be a waste of space. Could benefit from making large one an adult only area and small one into splash zone for little kids.

Yelp
`first time and last time staying. Found bed bugs in the king jacuzzi room. staff found it amusing.

Yelp
Fantastic little ocean front Inn. Friendly service. Reasonable prices and great location on the island. Easy access to the beach and complimentary beach services. The beach is never too crowded. Easy in and out parking and access to your room. Rooms are clean and well maintained and nice amenities. Nice location from restaurants and other activities this area has to offer. We have stayed here many times and plan to come here again. Highly recommend

Yelp
Called last minute, was able to get a room for a few days. Our rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and the property was well maintained.

Yelp
LOVE this family owned hotel & their staff. Clean, comfortable & convenient to places to eat & check out. So nice to have beach service & towels provided. We had all our kids & family here in 2019 & it was the perfect place for everyone. WE LOVE THIS PLACE & WILL ALWAYS COME BACK!

Yelp
Quiet relaxing ocean front hotel with wide beach and every room with a view. This is the second time I have stayed here, the first during the pandemic though. Signs are posted for six foot social distancing but nothing about masks. Housekeeping staff were wearing them but lobby clerks were not. Clerks are very friendly and welcoming. There is plexiglass mounted on the counter and hand sanitizer. Umbrellas on beach are probably six feet apart but just barely. Room smells sanitized but I travel with my own cleaning supplies and spray, wipe, and scrub everything. There is no restaurant or lounge on site but there is a snack bar by the pool, plus a restroom with a shower. There is a smallish pool and hot tub, I stayed out on the beach during my stay so cannot comment on that. There is also a pier at the Doubletree next door that is nice to walk out on. Room is a comfortable size with updated finishes. I would stay here again.

Yelp
This spot is a gem. Every room faces the Atlantic and literal walking distance to the beach. Priced amazingly and rooms are dated but very comfortable. Friendly staff and close to everything! So pleased with this place.

Yelp
Such a cute and great inn. Definitely would recommend to anyone. It's so clean and comforting. And even better with all that scenery around the inn! I enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back.

Yelp
My family and I have been to the Windjammer many times since the mid-1990s. Have really enjoyed being on beach, with ocean/beach views from all rooms above the 1st floor. We looked forward to enjoying the pool & hot tub, the water features, and balcony. We stayed there during this Labor Day weekend (Sept. 4 - 6, 2020) 1. Unfortunately, the lovely ocean breeze that we could enjoy from our balcony was polluted numerous times by so many smokers right outside on the patio and in the pool area. 2. Surprisingly, one of the Windjammer staff members who placed chairs on the beach, wore a Trump ball cap. 3. Besides the male staff with the Trump hat, and much to my disgust, the woman at the front desk greeted me this morning with a story about having moved her mother from Baltimore down here to live with her because, of a word that she uttered that sounded like, the "boogaloos." While I pondered whether to ask her to repeat the word, she didn't wait for my inquiry. She proceeded to explain that it was due to the riots in Baltimore a few years ago. When I asked if she was talking about the police shootings, she said "no, it was the blacks shooting the blacks." I would have expected that the owners and management would want to encourage folks of all races, ethnicities, and political beliefs to book rooms at the Windjammer. Apparently, it hasn't crossed their minds that a staff person wearing a Trump hat, staff not wearing masks except for the cleaning staff, and not asking anyone to wear a mask who entered the building, might make some people feel unsafe and unwelcome! I walked away from the woman at the front desk, and my family and I will NEVER return to the Windjammer Inn.

Yelp
This hotel exceeded our expectations! The room is nice, clean and comfy and the staff are very nice. Will definitely be coming to stay here again!

Suzanne R.

Yelp
This is the second time I have stayed here. Great view! Nice clean room and a FANTASTIC shower! The pool, hot tub and grounds are immaculate. Having complementary chairs and umbrellas make going to the beach a breeze! My only complaint is the air conditioner was too loud. I will be back!

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed at the Windjammer a number of times now and we have nothing but good things to say--wonderful proximity to the beach (it's right over the dunes) and great views (especially at sun rise), really helpful and courteous staff who's been responsive to us any time we needed anything, and nice, clean rooms. The back poolside area's really nice too and they told us they just upgraded the wifi connectivity so it extends further out there (which is good when we, unfortunately have to do some work while we're away--at least we can sit by the pool!). Seriously can't think of any criticisms--great place run by great people and great to support a family-run place instead of another big hotel chain.
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
I'll admit, though my wife had good things to say about her stay ten years ago I had low expectations of this hotel. I was wrong, way wrong. This will be the only place we stay from here out. We got the King Jacuzzi room, the room has a king size bed and a very, very large jacuzzi in the room. We were able to enjoy a beer, in the jacuzzi and watch the Final Four games. All the rooms are ocean view and beach access is just a walk across the boardwalk. The other kicker is the showers in the room. I was told that some rooms had tubs for families with small children but our room had a huge shower with multiple shower heads that were all adjustable. I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world that were supposedly a lot nicer than this one, but in the end it was one of my favorite stays ever. We highly recommend the Windjammer.

Milly M.

Yelp
We stayed here for a week in May. We got a Jacuzzi King and loved it. The showers are awesome, but had some trouble with the shower doors. I loved the walkway to the beach. The man that picks the chairs up at the end of the day was so nice and friendly. The pool and hot tub were very nice. The parking here is great, most beach destinations seem to not have much parking, but there is plenty here. The room was nice and clean. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful. We were very impressed and the price is a lot lower than other beach destinations. We will definitely return!

Mike W.

Yelp
I would recommend this place! Very clean well maintained and friendly staff! We enjoyed our stay.

Michelle M.

Yelp
This is a very nice inn. The staff was very nice and informative of the area. It was a little pricey but the room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. The views was amazing!!
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Great views, great prices, great hotel. Nothing fancy but as good as the Sheraton was next door.

Ryan L.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Kid friendly. Reasonably priced. Willing to work with accommodations. Would recommend for a vacation get away or anything really!

Vicki B.

Yelp
The staff at the Windjammer are friendly and very helpful. We had just checked out, I couldn't find my prescription sunglasses. I went back to the room the maid was already cleaning. She stopped what she was doing and helped tear apart the room. She moved back the dressers everything. I finally found them in the trash. The rooms are always clean. We cant wait until we go back in May.

Carrie D.

Yelp
This was my second visit staying here. The rooms are clean, and the staff is friendly. It is in a great and quite location. The only issues with this hotel, if you are on the first floor you cannot see the ocean. The dunes block the view. The only available rooms are king and two double beds. Would love to see rooms with maybe 2 queen beds. Would be easier to travel with 3 people. Otherwise, we are already trying to plan a return trip.

Yelp
Still here at The Windjammer and so far I'm loving it. Our room has a gorgeous view of the beach/ocean. We explored the grounds yesterday of the hot tub, pool, patio areas with cabana beds and an area of hammocks. It's definitely a great place to relax. The rooms are pretty good, clean as clean gets after being used so many times I'm sure, so I can't really complain there. The showers are huge. The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We wanted and ocean view room as we had a king size jacuzzi room without view. We were able to get a king size room with view for the first two days of our 3 night/4 day stay and will be switching to our king size jacuzzi on our last night. I was very happy with that as I really wanted the jacuzzi, I also saved $20 on the room switch. It's also very close to stores and attractions.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Always loved staying here. The staff is always friendly and helpfull. They do need a policy regarding the use of the hotel supplied umbrellas as people are rude and put their towels on them and leave. Some all day. They also need to extend pool hours past 9pm. Maybe the time after 9 for adults only.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Its always good when the parking lot is over half full at the beach on a cold weekend in March. I found the Windjammer on the way to the coast during a list minute weekend trip to the beach. You never can tell by a website, but we decided to give it a shot. Our one requirement was waking up to an ocean view and the Windjammer delivered. The Windjamer has a friendly front desk, ocean view, and perfect location with its close proximity to Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach, and Morehead City. The rooms are clean, have comfortable beds, and the bathrooms seemed upgraded.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
I found the place online in a pinch, about a day before an out of town girlfriend was coming for a visit. I expected last minute "cheap motel". No, way. I was so pleasantly surprised that I've been talking the place up to all my friends in Raleigh. The view is priceless and perfect. The rooms very clean and simple. The bathroom brand new and better than all the pricey hotels I stayed this summer. Instant beach access. I will come back with more visitors. Best $56 dollars I spent this year. I also recommend driving to Beaufort (20 min or less) to take the ferry to Shackleford banks and seeing the (free) maritime museum. Great day/ weekend trip from Raleigh.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleased. You just can't get a better balcony view of the ocean. Easy walk to the beach, just a few steps from the back of the motel. It was just a stopover for us on the way to the Outer Banks, but if you're a person who likes just hanging out at the ocean for several days, doubt you could do better than this spot!
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
What a find! Nice, clean, well maintained with beautiful view of pools and ocean. Price Very reasonable!! The hammocks by the ocean an extra treat!

Yelp
I think there is potential for improvement for this hotel. We had 2 different rooms on 2 different levels and both had water leaks through the walls onto the floors in the bedrooms. Had a bad mildew smell. We brought it up to front desk and when we came back to room they had just put towels on floor. We noticed in the hallways that they had buckets around to catch leaks too. Our room was nice size loved the huge shower the view was awesome. The king size bed mattress was outdated though with stains. Out door pool and seating area are nice and large area however landscaping is outdated or not kept up pond area was great except the floor of it could use painting.all in all this place could easily be a great place but needs maintaining of the property. If the improve leaks and mattresses we would come back but really can't handle the smell of mildew . The staff was very friendly.

S F.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed. We came here for our honeymoon and it's been an extreme disappointment. The hotel itself is outdated and looks like an apartment building in the "bad side of town" rather than a hotel at the beach. The balconies are small. It smells like mildew in the hallways. The interior of the hotel itself is not worth much. Our room did have an incredible view of the beach. There are hammocks and a lounge area near the pool. BUT the pool is dirty. On top of that there is a non-refundable deposit required when you make your reservation. We're going to try to get a room elsewhere for the rest of our stay. Deposit be damned.
