How I Travel: Simone Ashley of ‘Bridgerton’ Eats Tortellini for Breakfast in Italy

"Another favorite filming location for Simone Ashley while shooting Bridgerton. Known for its scenic beauty, horse-riding experiences in the forest, and proximity to Windsor Castle."

A five-star venue undermined by two-to-three-star service and unnecessary rudeness. I’ll begin with the positives. The venue itself is beautiful, booking was straightforward, and the check-in staff were excellent—polite, professional, and informative, particularly regarding parking charges. The facilities are outstanding. We were a large party of 17: four families meeting after Christmas to celebrate the festive season (seven adults and ten children aged between three and twelve). The children had an incredible time, and I even found myself braving a few of the slides—albeit somewhat reluctantly. We had booked the 11:15am session and, afterwards, made our way to the restaurant. We queued as instructed and were informed that the only indoor option available was a table for four; otherwise, we would need to be seated outside. We stepped aside to avoid blocking the queue and, after some discussion, reluctantly accepted the outdoor seating option (in hindsight, we would have pre-booked a table). For context, the temperature was around five degrees and bitterly cold. We arranged the necessary tables ourselves to accommodate our group. A polite young waitress took our initial drinks order, along with five pizzas and garlic bread for the children, while we reviewed the menu before placing our main orders. At this point, we noticed that a large section at the back of the restaurant remained completely empty, which we assumed was reserved for pre-booked diners. When our drinks and food arrived, one Camden Hells and one table water were missing. Despite chasing these on two separate occasions, they took some time to arrive. The children were also not provided with side plates for their pizza. After five to ten minutes, a polite waitress brought them out, although by then the children had already begun eating using napkins to avoid the food going cold. Our mains were ordered and arrived promptly and without issue. However, subsequent drink orders took an excessive amount of time—so much so that my wife eventually went inside to find an alternative. The food itself was good. What was particularly frustrating was that while we sat outside in the cold, the outdoor area remained empty apart from our party, as did the large section at the back of the restaurant. This area remained completely unused for the duration of our visit, raising some unavoidable questions: Why were we told indoor seating was unavailable when there was clearly ample space? Did the older gentleman at the front of house assume our group would be disruptive due to the presence of ten children? After dinner, we requested the bill, which was delivered by the same gentleman. The total came to £287, which we asked to be rounded up to £300 and split four ways. However, we were each charged £75.33, resulting in a total slightly exceeding £300—something we found odd, though we did not query it at the time. Ordinarily, we would tip well in excess of 15%, but the decision to seat us outside in the cold, the repeated need to chase drinks, and this final billing inconsistency significantly detracted from what had otherwise been a lovely day for four families

Visited Virgina Water on Saturday. The park is vast and is connected to Windsor Park. If you have the legs you can walk to Windsor castle. The park has a big lake, lots of beautiful gardens, waterfall and few cafes. The park is run by crown and not by local council. The price of food and drink at main cafe near the car park is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Extensive park with easy walks around the Virginia Water lake and beautiful gardens. The park is home to many interesting features, including The Cascade (a dramatic artificial waterfall) and Leptis Magna Roman Ruins at the eastern corner of Virginia Water. The totem pole near The Valley Gardens was an impressive feature, as is the towering obelisk near the upper pond. Wildlife seems to thrive here - I saw lots of birds and a grass snake by the lakeside. Late spring is the best time to visit, when the azaleas and rhododendrons in The Valley Gardens are in full bloom, providing truly stunning displays of colour. The Punchbowl is a must see at this time of year. Parking is fairly expensive at £3 per hour, but there's plenty available across multiple sites, and the facilities are immaculate. A high end café at Virginia Water offers a good range of drinks and cakes, with more substantial lunch options available at The Savill Garden visitor centre, where there's also a large shop. Impeccably maintained toilet facilities are located near the main entrances. The park is free to visit, but The Savill Garden is charged separately - visitors purchasing a ticket are entitled to a refund on their parking charge. If you've got a couple of extra hours The Savill Garden is well worth a visit, particularly in May when the flowers are at their peak. There's plenty to see including a tropical glasshouse, Mediterranean garden and rose garden. Windsor Great Park is easily a full day out if you explore everything it has to offer - set aside another day for Windsor Castle and you can enjoy an excellent weekend here.

Huge area, varied landscape, wonderful trees, great for walking Parking in car parks only at a rather steep £3.50 an hour!

Very beautiful place to visit in summer... ❤️ Parking at Virginia Water is really convenient, with a large car park right by the entrance—though it did cost nearly £15 for the day as I remember. From there, it’s easy to access the toilets and start your walk into the park. The main path is well-marked and takes you on a scenic route that can lead all the way to Windsor Castle if you're up for it. Along the way, you’ll pass some truly lovely spots like the Deer Park, Cow Pond, and several other picturesque attractions. It’s a perfect place for a relaxing day outdoors!

Virginia Water to Windsor Castle,, 6.5 miles walk. Amazing view on the way. Park is so convenient at Virginia Water car park,, it charge me almost 16 pounds for the day. From the car park, using toilet, u can start ur walk to the park,, if you follow the path, it will take u all the way to Windsor Castle. On the way don't miss the amazing Deer park, cow pond and many more attractions. Best view from King's George statue to Windsor Castle. Make sure to book a return ticket from Windsor Castle to Virginia Water,, avoid bus while u can. There's many toilet facilities available. Ice cream ban, café an, restaurant and a playground.

Yelp
Great for a half-day trek down the Long Walk from Windsor Castle and Town Centre, preferably with a good friend because the road is dead straight and nothing much happens except when you sight deer or even rarer royalty. Or take a bicycle along the many roads that criss-cross the park, and watch a Polo match or one of the many other summer events. Kas73 is wrong, you can't drive through unless you live in the park, but you can ride up to a great little cafe/Post Office and even some swings if you take the kids. For a full day, add on a walk around the lake in the Valley Gardens, best for their rhododendrons and spring flowers.

Yelp
Probably the single best thing about living in windsor you can be in beautiful meadows, exploring woodland, walking around lakes and all within 10 mins of the centre of town. great for picnics, cycling, running or just whiling away an afternoon walking around. Dont miss the copper horse, or the huge herd of deer.

Yelp
Windsor Great Park is a lovely area to walk the dog or cycle. Maps are available from the village shop within the Park. The only place you cannot take dogs is in the deer park. You get a great view of Windsor Castle from the Long Walk. Keep a look out for the Green Parrotts that have taken up residence in the park. You will probably hear them first. It is also a great place for plane spotting as the park is on the Heathrow flight path and the planes fly over very low. There are plenty of places to park around WGP but you will need to take your own picnic as the nearest restaurant is in Saville Gardens, which is on the edge of the park just off the A30 on the way to Staines.

Yelp
Lovely big park. I wish i lived near it. I came to WGP on a trip to Cumberland Lodge, which is inside the park, on a university trip. The park is totally enormous, and full of deer and a load of animals and birds. It would be a great place to go for a run - endless different routes. Also, you can walk to Windsor castle - the view as you get closer and closer along the long approach is really amazing.

Yelp
Windsor great park is really beautiful - especially in the summer. If you love walking and exploring or flying a kite then this is the place for you. There is nothing more exciting then that to do here, but thats the joy of it. Its SO peaceful! Windsor great park is very large and so you can always find a quiet spot. If it is a sunny place day then do take a picnic as this is the perfect place for one. I think you can also drive through nice and slowly though! :) There is some animal life in the park - either in the ponds or in the trees so make sure you keep your eye open. Also visit the ground keepers cottage as i think the garden is so well kept and really pretty to see.

Yelp
After a trip around Windsor Castle we decided to make the most of the lovely weather and go and eat our picnic lunch in Windsor Great Park, on the long walk. The view from the long walk up to Windsor Castle is lovely. The park was immaculate and the kids enjoyed letting off some steam playing under the trees.

Yelp
Windsor Great park is like a cranium on top of the world. It is the most peaceful place in all of England, where time can stand still and the rivers never run dry, a bit like heaven on Earth, you can even see the Ethiopian Prince Alemayau.

Yelp
Lovely place to go for a walk but unless you go for a pretty long walk there can be quite a lot of people, so not as peaceful! Best times are first thing in the morning of you want quiet.
