Watching Despicable Me 3 on the TV in our twin-bed room made for a warm and cozy family stay." Safe neighborhood. No elevators, so.. STAIRS. Can be a bit pricey for 4 people. No parking... If not resident there, either have to wake up at 7 or find a parking garage. Water pressure can be strong, but it has a good water temperature (can quickly get REALLY hot if not careful). Good, clean, beds and bathroom.

Let me start by saying that the staff are lovely and very helpful to all travelers. This is a quaint boutique hotel, in a historic building and is in a safe neighborhood. The building is lovely, but the paint in the room is peeling and furniture needs to be updated. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, since it is firmer that I am used to, but I did sleep well, and the AC was able to keep the heat at bay. It was a challenge to not have a private refrigerator, as I have dietary restrictions that require me to travel with my own food. There is a community refrigerator available, but management of it is on the honor system. It does not have ramps or elevators, so heavy luggage is a challenge, but the staff is very friendly and willing to help carry luggage up/down the stairs. I advise travelers to keep the need to climb up or down a floor in mind as the reservation websites may not make this as obvious. I would also like to make sure that travelers are aware that the closest parking is .5 miles away at a garage on 16th and P, so make plans accordingly. If you are looking for a stay in this type of environment it would be a great affordable place, however, business travelers may experience more challenges than the price is worth.

Good hotel in Washington DC, decently located in a safe area of the city. Not completely central, but a half hour walk from the White House, so all in all, good location. Lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby, as well. Complimentary tea and coffee in reception and a very close Starbucks for breakfast if you wish. My room was basic, but quiet and comfy, with a clean bathroom and a nice, decent bed. Yeah, it seems to be an old building, but it is a goof choice to explore Washington DC.

Big fraudster they are, as a security deposit they charged us $450 for 3 rooms and they never returned us a single penny after checking out the room and Iam writting this review after 19 days.Very unprofessional and rude behaviour of the staff at front desk. Not even a single complementary service is given by hotel management.

Scary! The front desk guys were okay but the room was run down and insanely small. I could hear every conversation outside my room and the floor would vibrate with every door slam (from the sketchy random gated stairs right next to my door). I don't recommend this place as a solo female traveler. I did not feel safe or peaceful here.

Affordable hotel that had everything we needed. I enjoyed the style of the hotel. The staff helped us, but seemed to want conversation to stay very casual and as short as possible if that makes sense. Keep in mind this hotel is NOT ACCESSIBLE for physical disabilities. There are no elevators and there are many steps just to get inside. As well as narrow passages and doorways.

Great location near U Street Corridor. Comfortable room. Free coffee was a nice gesture in theory but it was undrinkable in practice. And maybe I’m spoiled by Asian hotels, but would expect a mini fridge and a safe box for over 100USD per night. Overall, was a good stay and may stay there again.

I feel like a lot of people unfairly review this place, it is what it is, an inexpensive, centralised hotel. Beds were clean and comfortable. The only thing I think they should improve is the water pressure in the shower. Apart from that, who cares what the furniture and decor is like when you spend the majority of the day out? All you need is some AC, a clean room and a nice bed which is exactly what it offers.

Location is the only thing going for this hotel. It was pricey and I had to stay for 2 nights in a downstairs dungeon room. Everything felt dirty and old and falling apart, there were bugs, and it was creepy. I also asked if there was somewhere to fill a water bottle and the man at the front desk was so confused and said they don't drink water. A different man on my last day was super nice and kept my bag for me after check-out so I could wander the city before my train left. Other than that, pretty awful and I couldn't wait to leave.

Absolutely the worse hotel ever. So we had to leave our trip early because both of us are in agonizing pain from being forced to sleep on a mattress that is dated April of 1999. Yep, that's not a typo. Both the hotel and Expedia are refusing to refund our loss of over $700. But fear not, we already have reported them to the Washington DC Hotel Association as well as the Washington DC Health Department. For three days they have also refused to give us a different room. So the battle begins....they refuse to allow us to speak with the "manager" and refuse to give us their names at the desk. Completely shady AF establishment! Do not stay at the Windsor Inn Hotel!

Eek! Was looking for a budget hotel, and that's exactly what I got. The only reason this isn't a 0/5 is because of the fast WiFi and my ex and I still had a damn great time using the room

Bait and switch scam. Our rooms were downstairs dungeons. They were unfinished, had holes all over the walls, and not even a mirror (we were in town for a wedding). Seriously, like someone's bad unfinished basement room project. When we complained, they said they were all booked and didn't have any other rooms. We went online to check, and they said 2 rooms available. Some highlights: - No mirror, just holes in the wall where a mirror was - No windows or ventilation - Door opens onto hallway that leads to outside. Door lock terribly flimsy. Felt unsafe. - Holes all over the room - Dresser drawers broken, off track, and missing handles. This was the worst hotel I have EVER stayed in. Where do I begin? 1. Didn't bother to refill toilet paper, left empty roll on the toilet paper holder. 2. When I unfolded a towel to take a shower there was a giant bug wrapped inside of it. That lets me know you don't clean your stuff. 3. Gave my friend the wrong room, so he had to walk in on other people. How embarrassing. 4. My sister in law didn't even have power at one point. The lights just wouldn't come on until having to walk around and figure out what's going on. 5. MOLD EVER WHERE IN THE BATHROOMS, to the point where I didn't even want to use the bathroom or the shower, mold is very dangerous and can make you very ill, we paid for 3 rooms and all 3 rooms were infested with mold in the bathroom By the looks of the bathroom I was scared to even sleep in the beds because if you can't even take time to stock the toilet paper or clean the towels correctly that why would I begin to think you would wash my bedding correctly, Looks as tho if there was someone who already stated in my room and all they did was make the bed, there was even dirt all over the floor witch tells me they didn't even vacuum, called to complain to tell them about my concerns, and woman didn't even show any interest on wanting to give us a refund Will NOT be re turning. Can't even get a full refund. Place is a shit hole. So if you ask me, this place needs to be inspected, and shut down.

Booked this room for 1 night $100, Checked in and leave the hotel after 15 minutes stay. I saw a bug climbing on the wall of room, but the thing that made me escape is I walk on the carpet without shoes. I felt itchy on my feet. now there are red dots on my feet. I have no idea what it is, I am very happy that I found a $80 Sheraton nearby escape this hotel.

It's a 2 Star hotel, so obviously it's going to be a bit run down. If you want something nicer, pay the price for a nicer 4 Star. For a 2 Star hotel, this place is solid. It's conveniently located, and they have excellent customer service. Everyone is pleasant, including the cat. Cat is super friendly. I snuck my lil dog into the hotel, and he and the cat ran around on the third floor playing with each other. The hotel IS haunted, and I got the vibe as soon as I walked in. But that may be a plus for you. Saw an apparition 2nd night there at the window across watching into my window. At first, I thought it was a creepy hotel guest, but once I locked eyes with the fiend it floated UPWARDS. Def haunted, and I asked the night desk guy about it: told me the cat's owner died in the hotel, and they kept the cat. So who knows.

This is an Inn from what I am understanding, not a hotel, despite the name. I give four stars based on my needs and experience. I am not someone who likes to rest on vacations, I do a crapload of walking, I literally just wanted a safe, cheap places with a bed, and a shower. I got it ---------- Their prices are reasonable considering they are in a safe (seeming) area, with easy access to mass transit* as well as the following... They have no view, at all, my window opened up into an indoor courtyard, the only view was daylight and other people's windows. Parking on the street. They have fast WiFi, they claim it can go out because they are in an old building, but I had no issues. They have a breakfast, but it is uninteresting (as they admit) and is not free. BUT they have free coffee, and ice water. The Hotel is very old school. They have 80s decor, keys not cards to access rooms. Regular cable TV, no opportunity to buy a video on the TV (flat screen by the way), and no mini-bar. Room got steamy, during the day, but kept the AC gunned at 61, and it was absolutely fine. ---------- But, I got to DC by train, and there are tons of good restaurants nearby, and I stayed out from morning to night, so views, movies, minibars, all useless to me. So I wasn't paying for stuff I wasn't using.. The guys at the front desk were all wonderful, and very nice. They knew the city, had maps, and knew several good places to eat. Also, they gave me a free upgrade to a Queen bed from a twin, even though I was traveling alone. Finally, they have amenities like razors, shaving cream, shampoo, toothbrush, etc. If you ask. ----------- *There is a frequently serviced bus station 2 minutes away, or a subway station roughly six blocks away, about a ten minute walk.

I appreciate the quirks that fill up this hotel. I had a few good laughs and a great time at Windsor Inn. Deanna J sums up this place quite nicely when she says it's decorated like "your Great Aunt Edna's house." Floral wingback chairs. Ivy vines painted on the wall. The decor is decent, but vintage enough to make you slightly uncomfortable. But what I like about this place is that it's full of surprises: our first assigned hotel room was hadn't been cleaned at all. The bed was unmade, towels were on the floor. The room came complete with a used cock ring and Valentine's Day candy wrappers. The front desk attendant was apologetic and immediately upgraded us to another room, so it was no biggie. Disclaimer: this place has to be taken with a grain of salt. If I you're looking for comfort and class, this isn't necessarily the first place I'd recommend.

I knew this wasn't going to be the Hyatt, but it was pretty funky in a uniquely pleasant way. The decor was very Victorian, but understated, and it was obviously more functional than fancy. That said, I felt a little as if I'd stepped into a Stephen King novel as I crossed the threshold. I never saw another customer, and the guy at the front desk was a bit odd in his demeanor but also friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tasteful, and for $89.00 in D.C., it was a very good deal. Side Note: I may have been responding to my Ghost Walk in Georgetown, but I felt a little like I was being watched at night. I slept with the TV on because I was spooked, and I had nightmares all night that other people in the hotel wanted me to leave. I did take a sleep aide which usually knocks me out, but I was restless and kept imagining (?) that someone was knocking on my door. By dawn, however, I relaxed and slept well. I only mention it because it prompted me to look up the Inn online to see if others had left similar reviews. I did find one, so I thought I'd leave this in case others felt compelled to do the same in the future. Incidentally, I'd probably stay there again if I could get the same rate, but I might bring my spouse next time!

NONE OF THESE REVIEWS MENTION THE KITTY THAT LIVES IN THE LOBBY!!!!!!! Although I live in DC, I had some friends coming to visit me so I opted to get a hotel room instead of having them all stay at my tiny, inconveniently located apartment. I was on expedia.com and found the cheapest room I have ever heard of in DC - $99/night for a room with two double beds. The location? Perfect! I immediately booked it. Then two days later, I read the fine print on my confirmation email - that rate is for 2 people. I called the hotel and found out that the rate goes up $20/night for each person. Although, in general I think this practice is quite silly since all an extra person would need is a towel, I accepted it since it still put the room rate at a decent price. Upon arrival, we find, as others have described, a lobby and hallways that looked like Great Aunt Edna's house. Sure, it looked old but it was all clean and in good condition. Our room was pretty cramped but had all the essentials. Added bonus- Comcast cable. This was great since we wanted to listen to music while getting dressed but didn't bring ipod speakers, so we just listened to the Comcast music channels. The bed was super comfy - no tossing and turning here! Although the room was kinda cramped, the bathroom was very spacious and looked like it had recently been redone. I had some problems regulating the water temperature in the showerhead, but no big deal. Note: the lightbulb in the ceiling actually adds heat to the bathroom so if you leave it on for the amount of time it takes four girls to get ready, it's going to be really warm in that BR! The continental breakfast goes from 7-11 am. We showed up at 10.15 and found slim pickings. This being DC though, there is a s'bucks within a block so it was no big deal. But if you want to enjoy the b'fast, make sure you get there early. The staff was all really helpful and super polite. Check-in is at 2, check-out is at noon. They have a nice tag system though if you want to leave your bags there after check-out.

First of all this is an Inn, not a hotel. There is a different vibe to an Inn. It is not perfect and uniform, which was something I liked. The room was clean and a fair size. The price was excellent, especially for the location. They also had internet, but I had some trouble using it as it was very slow. I thought it was charming and I like that they have a cat (not a good place for allergies). The only issue I had, and this lowered my rating, was that my room was next to the lobby and as a result I could hear the noise in the lobby. This was enough to wake me up earlier than I would prefer during a vacation. I would recommend it, and stay here again, as long as I made sure I had a different room.

Crab cake looks great but that's it! I will never buy anything else from here because I'm tired of the tasteless food. It's no seasoning I don't know what happened but too bad so sad.

The place suited my needs. A place close by the landmarks and where I needed to go. Cheap. A cat. A/C. I can keep my shit there while I'm out and about. The staff who work there are nice. If you're looking for something fancy with a pool or whatever, this ain't it. It's fine. I'd come back.

Straight up weird place. The staff seemed nice, but our room may have been infested with bedbugs, my wife woke up on day 3 with bites that resemble bedbug bites. The weirdest part seems unexplainable. On night one I kept thinking someone was at our door, I kept getting up and checking only to find no one there. On night two, I heard a voice in the room then felt someone tug on my sheets. Night three, I was up late, not able to sleep and around 2am, the door opened with no one around, thank god the chain was on the door. I will not be coming back to this place, mostly for the big bite issue, but the other experiences were straight up weird.

I decided not to stay there after reading the reviews, and on the same day I made the reservation I called to cancel it ; however that was not an easy and civil process. All the communications and actions related to their handling the reservations, cancellations, customer care etc. are beyond appalling. When I called to cancel they could not find my reservation, or so they said, but promised to leave a not about my cancellation for someone ( manager) to call me. Neither anyone call me nor they canceled the reservation, and I was charged. I sent an email to the manager of the hotel Mr. Najjar, who on the reservation day "welcomed" me with an email , explaining the whole issue and asked him to please call me. No call no email. At that point I decided to go to the hotel and in person resolve the issue. What follows makes me still so upset. The employee at the reception told me ( obviously they found my reservation at this point) they decided to keep one day and refund the rest. I asked him to print all the hotel's policies and regulations related to why my money was kept, and he refused. I was trying to tell him that I cancelled on the same day the reservation was made therefore that was not correct to keep my money, and that I will dispute the charge, the employee "Jackson ?" said to me: What is wrong with you people, if you do that we are going to sue you" I was in shock as no one ever ever treated my like that. I tried to explain that this is my right to dispute the charge via all legal means including BBB, but and that point his rage came out and he started yelling: "GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT of my hotel!!!", left the reception rushed to the door, opened the door and started yelling: "Get out, get out I will call the police". While I was taking out my phone to record this ridicules actions he started yelling " You will record me I will record you!!". I left shaking and in tears. If this is how people handle business and relate to other human being where is this world going?

Good location (walking distance from nice coffee shops and other shops), street parking, no daylight inside (the window is facing exterior walls and other windows). Internet did not work! Good place to stay if you don't spend your time inside. I find it really pricy ($120 for a 2 star inn) for what it offers but this is DC and it was the cheapest decent place I could find last min. At the end I actually enjoyed my staying, the garden/room has a Victorian style...everything is old and kinda smelly

Loved that b&b, convivial,great kitty greeting you, good restaurant recommendations from the staff and,private bathrooms topped with clean rooms. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! One point to stress is that they do not have an elevator, but steps are not steep and it is a house after all,not a building. Also, there is no private parking which we realized as it's a two star inn.

There are two positive things in the hotel, the staff was very friendly and great location , very safe as well . There was bedbugs I wake up one morning with a lot of red spots on my body , I killed 3 coackraches in one week and there was other type of bugs coming out of the sink. I told it to one of the staff member and he just said that I was not the first one to complain about it . The AC was too loud and I can hear the other rooms AC as well so no way of getting a good night sleep specially if you have to stay there for 12 days . I will never go back to that hotel .

What a cute inn! This place is great if you arent looking for something fancy, as it a budget friendly option. When we arrived, the worker at the desk gave a comp upgrade. This was nice, but the room we received didn't have a strong heater and the bathroom lock was broken. We asked the guy to check, and he kindly let us switch our room to one which had more comfortable heating and a larger (locking!) bathroom. Complimentary coffee, tea and water in the lobby, as well as a microwave and fridge. They have a friendly cat there too, who has his bed on one of the front room couches. No elevator ( not so great if you have heavy luggage ) but not a huge hotel so it was okay for us. The neighborhood was safe and inviting, walking distance to Starbucks and some other cute businesses, and just a short uber away from tourist attractions ( never spent more than $5 on uber pool ). Would definitely stay again - just be safe and check that everything works and is clean before settling in. Thanks Windsor Inn!

Remember when you used to stay at your Great Aunt Edna's house? And it was kind of older, you were a little concerned about the cleanliness factor because of her age, and you weren't too sure about the water? Staying here is a lot like that. This hotel is older, and I smell the 80's all over the decor. If I told you it was 'quaint' it might be a stretch. The air (at least in my room) wasn't able to be adjusted, and came on and off automatically. The clock wasn't working and the towels were a 'two' on the fluffy scale. When I realized that my creme brulee breath desperately needed brushing and I forgot my toothpaste, I checked at the front desk. The incredibly friendly, adorable men went all the way to the basement to check to see if they had any. He proudly presented me with a tiny tube of 'Made in China' toothpaste. There is a nice patio outside, there's free wi-fi, and if you need something that will likely be less expensive than the surrounding hotels, it's worth checking the prices (if your tolerance for the aforementioned idiosyncrasies is high). And you'd also get to meet the adorable grandfatherly-like men behind the counter.

Feels like I'm staying at my grandmas house. Charmingly old and a bit run down... this is not the Regis or any other hotel on the strip. But it's clean and what it lacks in amenities it makes up for with the cutest cat Mimi , the most friendliest, helpful staff and the dopest location. You won't even be in the room long enough to miss the room service! I enjoyed my stay!

A cat roaming the hall and my boyfriend is highly allergic. Either y'all didn't disclose to Hotwire or they are choosing to hide that info. Also stellar room per the pic below - there is absolutely zero ways this is comparable to a Holiday Inn Express, that's an insult to Holiday Inn Express.

For one night - it was tolerable. Needs updating - the doors use actual keys and it was a pain to open. Wi-Fi works in the lobby but not your room. Sorry, but a cat on the check-in desk is not good. For someone highly allergic - it could cause issues for the guests. Not close to Metro stops in my opinion - would recommend researching for other places - unless you like super tiny rooms, old and worn bedding, paint, ceilings and such. Needs work - a lot of work. I gave it two stars because the A/C worked well!

After reading previous reviews, I feel the need to remind everyone that this is one of the cheapest hotels in the area, so I'm unsure why they are expecting 5-star rooms and service. With the Windsor Inn, you get what you pay for. We spent $80 for a Saturday night and it was just fine. The check-in staff is friendly and we had no problems. Yes, I agree that the rooms are outdated in style but what do you expect for the price? Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and warm. The shower was a bit small, but we are staying in the city, in an old building. Overall, I'm sure we would stay here again. I wouldn't suggest staying for the breakfast: only coffee, milk, and orange juice and then some pastries, but if you need something quick, no problem.

The positives is the location is close to the Red and Yellow metro. The neighborhood seemed safe walking around. Plenty of restaurants around. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was alright. The drawbacks was the facility seemed old and the spotty Wi-Fi on the lower level. I didn't mind that cat walking around. The first room we received was on the second floor and had no shower curtain. It was two double beds and about the size of my laundry room. The toilet was plugged. I let the front desk gentleman know. Apparently the cleaning lady didn't put the curtain back on. He moved us downstairs. The room was much larger, walk in closet, nice bathroom, and the spotty Wi-Fi. It was definitely an upgrade. This place fit our needs fine. It was no thrills place to crash after being a tourist and conference for a few days. The upgraded room definitely helped.

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could and I don't say that lightly. Only July 19, I called this place to book a room for the night and two subsequent nights after finding out one of my best friend's mother passed away about 2 hours earlier. They booked the room. I was told I could cancel until midnight and would not be charged. LIAR! I called less than 15 minutes after hanging up with them because my friend said she would be able to put me up for the time I would be there. I called this business back and I was told they would charge me for one night. After arguing with the guy on the phone I resigned to the fact that I might have to pay for one night. Even the lousiest cheapest Days Inn and Hampton Inn have a cancellation policy and it doesn't expire 15 minutes after you make a reservation for the same night. When I told my friend 2 days alter, it was after I had already been charged for one night. She e-mailed them trying to plead with them not to charge me. She received no response. I sent them an e-mail and just like my friend I received no response. I contacted my bank who contacted them and even the bank received no response. Since I had nothing in writing, my bank would not credit my account unless I get something from this lousy establishment. I didn't bother to contact Windsor Inn again because they had three chances to respond to this issue and refused to do so.

I came here on spring break with my mom. I'm 21, she's 63. The front desk guys are really friendly. Really, really friendly and helpful. Because of someone else's horror story, I called a few days before we arrived to make sure our reservation was intact and it was. We rented a small room with two twin beds. It was extremely clean, simple (not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination) and totally comfortable. The bathroom was also nice. I think our room has been recently renovated--at least, the paint seems new-ish and the bathroom looks recently tiled. Some reviews mentioned a lack of hot water but I haven't experienced any problems in that area. Also, the internet has worked perfectly the whole time, plenty fast. The continental breakfast isn't super well-stocked, just pastries, bagels, cereal, juice, coffee, milk. It was enough for me though. The location of this place is great--close to both the U street and Dupont Circle metro stops. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is super adorable, lots of trees and people out and about, etc. One downside (pretty much the only downside) is that the staff preparing breakfast are kind of loud and that has woken me up earlier than I'd like a couple times. I would absolutely come here again, it's a lovely little place and the best price around. Oh, and the lobby kitty is super cute.

O.M.G. I chose this place because it's (relatively) cheap and I wanted to save my nonprofit money. I came to regret that noble instinct. My stay made me appreciate just how much goes into the usual hotel stay. All the people, at all the hotels, doing their jobs so that I don't even notice all the things that could go wrong. And here at the Windsor Inn all those things did go wrong, from being placed in an underground room that I was assured was just like all the other rooms, to being locked out of my room, to extremely loud maids who seemed to relish blocking the hallways. And that's not all. There were things like broken hairdryers, soap taken away from my room and never replaced...etc. At each juncture, simple things seemed to have two or three extra steps added, and still turn out wrong. The cat was cute, though.

You know what. Idk why people have to be all up on their high horses. This place has character. The beds were clean and comfy. There was a friendly cat. And all the the staff were very friendly too. My friend and I felt right at home. This Inn is comfortable and cozy. What else do you need!?

Ok...yes, it's old. Yes, it's quaint. So....if you are a tourist just looking for a place to sleep and SHOWER...this may be it. However, if you are a business traveler...this just doesn't cut it. First, the lack of bath-tub. After a 17 hour work day opening a new branch of my company in DC, I wanted to soak in a hot tub. Not possible. The shower is so small that shaving your legs becomes an Olympic gymnastic event. There are no shelves in the teeny, tiny shower so you butt sticks out the door when you bend over to get your shampoo. The vanity only extends 1 inch past the sink....had to use the window area as a vanity. The towels are thin...the hot water takes forever to show up and the water pressure is weak. The room is small/crowded. You have to get an iron and ironing board from the front desk and set up up over the wingback chair to use. No desk/chair to use laptop instead pull the little table to the foot of the bed and use it as a desk. The TV is smaller than the computer monitor I use in my home office....good luck seeing it from bed. The housekeeping staff is LOUD...and hang out in the hallways ...it's odd. I think they may live on site??? but, walls a paper thin and you can here them talking in the hall when you should be sleeping.... Also, my room windows looked out on an ally way at the back where the housekeeping staff hangs out and TALKS LOUDLY with no thought about guests. Seriously, why are they here 24/7??? Why are they so loud??? Why are they always in the hallways??? WHY DO THEY NEVER SHUT UP???? arrrggghhh!!!!!! The breakfast is PATHETIC. I booked through Hotwire and was promised free breakfast...everyone else pays $5. NOT WORTH IT....assorted muffins and coffee. Sad. This place could be so much better....but there is no "WOW" factor in any of it....no "hook" to make you think anything is beyond disappointing. The ONLY good thing is the location for the price.

I feel that the floor plan is definitely is that of a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel or motel. It is the Windsor Inn and it feels very homey like an Inn, My room was clean and bathroom was very nice with a tub and a shower. Obviously there are different types of rooms and I had a no smoking king at the lower level. i also was able to control the HVAC. Would consider it again because DC was very "walkable". I chose this location. I loved the fact that there were amenities and a corner store. Zit was very nice to be able to sit outside late at night with tables and chairs. Of course quaint wrought iron. Very charming and there is a computer for use in the lobby, and the wi-fi in my room was blazing hot!

I stayed at a wyndsor park, then stayed here. By far the worst hotel ever! No toilet paper, $5 for continental breakfast which should come with the room, 1 outlet worked, and there was an awful smell. The staff was so rude, i ended up going off on them. I would never stay here again, if possible, avoid this hotel!

This hotel was described by the desk clerk as Fawlty Towers. It is a little down at the heels but completely charming and in a great location. Make sure you get a good room since not every room is a winner.

I booked on Booking.com for one night due to location of my business while in DC. I did know it was a no cancellation policy but had solidified my business meetings so felt comfortable with that. Unfortunately, both my meetings which brought me to DC cancelled. I called the hotel, spoke to two people including Jamie who was in charge. No matter how I explained what happened they said they could do nothing not even a credit. they also said I'd have to go to Booking.com about. Jamie started to disparage my clients by calling them names. Very unprofessional. Booking.com said they had to talk to the property. Runaround. Property said no. Unfortunately, they only way to book this property when on Booking.com is with a no cancellation/no refund policy. Scam. i will NEVER stay at this property. Stayed October 2016, traveled on business

This place is very inexpensive for DC. It is in an attractive, quiet neighborhood and blends in with the apartments and historic buildings. It is is in walking distance of Dupont Circle Metro station, Adams Morgan district, and many great shops and restaurants. The neighborhood is quiet. I happen to love turn of the century style houses, European architecture, and brownstone buildings. This inn has all of that. I was in room 313. The cable and wireless internet worked fine. The shower water pressure was better than many high rated 'modern' hotels that I've stayed in. The staff was friendly, polite and helpful. The resident cat Mimi (also called Mona) is a sweetie. The inn is kept very clean. I didn't see bugs or cat hair anywhere. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in the DC area.

Absolutely horrible! Made the mistake of booking a room here via booking.com. On the booking website it didn't state that there was no parking provided. Upon entering to talk to the gentleman that worked there I was absolutely disgusted by the pungent smell. The place smells like a dirty litter box that hasn't been cleaned in days. We immediately asked to be refunded our money because of the lack of parking and how gross the place smelled and the man working there absolutely refused and was extremely rude. We contacted the booking agent who also talked to the "manager" and he was extremely rude to the customer service representative from the booking website as well. While the parking issue was something that we could have dealt with but the smell was horrendous and there was no way we were going to spend the night there!

I stayed here for 5 nights during the summer time. This place is extremely convenient and near a lot of tourist attractions. I loved seeing the cat, Mimi, upon entering. The staff was super friendly and the rooms were nice with a huge bathroom. It also fits within a budget range if you're staying in DC for a long time. However, there are a few things that made me rate this as a 2. First, they keys are actual keys, not key cards. I was a bit thrown off by this but then remembered that this is an older hotel. You can tell as soon as you arrive. BUT the second day that I was here, I woman was able to use her key to open my door and just walked right in. Now as you can imagine I was pretty terrified. I went down to the front desk and told them what happened. They said that they didn't give her my key and I was in the right room. I went back to my room and about an hour later she uses her key to walk back in again but this time I had the chain on so she wasn't able to come in. I told her to go away and once again complained to the front desk. I felt completely unsafe sleeping there as well leaving my luggage in there while I was gone. Also, the room is pretty run down and dirty. Visible stains everywhere and a lot of cob webs. The AC is great though. The rooms and hallways are kind of creepy so I wouldn't recommend staying here alone. All in all, the main reason I rated this place with 2 stars was because of the key incident and not feeling safe. I feel as though you want to feel safe in your hotel room and not have to worry about your belongings while exploring the city. I personally wouldn't stay here ever again.

A complete and utter dump. The absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in ever in my entire life. Room with no windows, spotty wifi, awful smell, small, dirty, and rude staff. A wrecking ball needs to be taken to this place to do it justice.

I had a very good experience during my two night stay (June 13-15). The staff was friendly, the cat is adorable, and I loved the quaint vibe of the place. The room I had was small and the furniture seemed to be a bit oddly placed, but I was there to sleep, and I slept like a baby both nights. My only two qualms- the light in my bathroom was constantly flickering and going out, and I was advised with my booking confirmation that breakfast was included in the cost of the room, but it is actually a $5 per day fee. Other than that, the Windsor Inn is reasonably priced and located close to so many different things, and I will definitely stay there again in the future!

I travel to DC frequently for work. When I do I generally like to stay at The Baron Hotel in Dupont. This time around it was a last minute trip and I tried walking into the Baron but it was full. They were happy to call around and eventually found an open room at one of their sister residences: The Windsor Inn. The hospitality here is top notch, especially Jamie. He is a kind man with a wealth of knowledge . Truly a north star for visitors unfamiliar with the DC metro area. The Windsor Inn is not a luxury hotel but it gets the job done at a great price in a prime location. I give it 5 stars for value not for the posh style. If you want fancy go somewhere else and pay more. If you have things to do and just need a roof over your head and a shower I say go for it. If you need anything...just ask for Jamie.

The staffs are very friendly. The hotel room was clean and pretty decent for the price. Bathroom was clean too. The check in time was 3 pm but they let us checked in way at 1. The hotel has a cat! So cute and chill cat. Free coffee 24/7. Breakfast is only 5 bucks!

This hotel may seem junky and trashy, but in reality it's horrible and disgusting. See photos. Paint and wallpaper coming off the walls, no lamps, broken tiles, trashed switch plates, etc. etc. It's more like a place you'd expect to be hoodwinked into staying at in Eastern Europe than in our nation's capital. I booked it in a hurry based on the three stars, the photos on their website and reasonable price...who are you people doing the rating? When we arrived the front desk guy was nowhere to be found because he had gone to the store. When we went out for the evening we had to wait to leave our key, because he was outside talking on his phone. The TV in our room didn't work, so I called the slacker at the front desk and he said he come right up. 45 minutes later he was still sitting at the front desk. When I reached into the machine in the lobby to retrieve the bottle of water I bought, my fingernails came out with black gunk underneath. This place is a joke. You've been warned.

Really cute hotel for a nice price. Looks as if it was once a boarding house or apartment. The heat is automatic so you really can't control your temperature so that sucks. Front desk staff is pretty friendly and attentive. Definitely would stay again!

Beware of the middle aged African front desk man. He will try to scam you one way or another. I reserved my night here with hotels.com and I was charged an extra night by this guy. It is good that I checked my account and noticed this. When I called him and he knew who it was, he dodged the whole thing and said he was too busy and hung up. I had also reserved a two bed room and when I found out that he had assigned me a one bed room, he wanted $20 for him to change it. Beware of this guy.

Bed bugs, a huge inconvenience on getting a refund and overall just a terrible room. Would never go back.

Honestly, people book this place (the cheapest I could find in DC) and come in with RIDICULOUS expectations. I thought it was a nice little place. It's not a hotel, it was an inn, once you get past the difference in appearance between the two its pretty nice. The stairs were creaky, but not rickety. We stayed in room 312 and it was nice. I was confused as to why there was a sink in the bedroom and the bathroom but who knows. There was a small fridge we weren't expecting which was a great touch. There was more than plenty of room for me and my mom, we could turn on our AC after being out sightseeing all day and it was a great relief. Saw two bugs on the floor in the bathroom when we first came in but we squashed them and had no more issues. Bed was really firm, depends on your preference. It didn't hurt me one bit even though I prefer softer beds. They have a resident kitty in the hotel, I think her name is Mona or Mimi, not sure. Anyways, she is so calm and sweet, just lounges around all day and likes being pet. When we went back up to our room after a long day of biking it was very nice to see her laying right by our door :) They lock the doors from 7pm to 5 am which makes me feel a lot safer. Great location! 5 minute walk to a rental bike rack and hen you can go bike around and see the city! :D Also that five minute walk gets you to a subway, dunkin donuts, McDonalds, etc on that corner. It was wonderful. The breakfast was minimal, just OJ, Milk, coffee, toast, and pastries. Oh and some cereal (2 kinds). I ate a small bowl of cheerios to hold me off until we were ready to leave and hit Dunkin Donuts. This is NOT the kind of place you want to stay if your just gonna sit in your room all day. Take in the scenery! Its a great place to bunk down for the night when you are out sightseeing all day :)

No complaints at all for this hotel! The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was fine with the 5$ cost. Carb-fest but good. Nearby the hotel is a city bike rental station. I got around the city so well using the bikes. Its only 7$ for a day and you can get anywhere in DC in less than 30 minutes. If you are arriving back to the hotel any time after 7pm, be sure to find alternate bike stations and prepare to walk further, because the station was full when I arrived. The cat is so cool!
