Winery Botaro

We booked a 3 hour wine tasting here in the afternoon and couldn't have been happier with our experience! It's a family run business and they truly love what they do. I was surprised at how much wine we were served, plus the amazing lunch and the liqueurs. They make all their own cheese, plus the wines, candied orange peel and many other products. Their wines are truly unique and can't be purchased in stores. We loved our afternoon learning about their family business and tasting all their wonderful products. We took an Uber from Dubrovnik, but you could also go there from Cavtat and it would be closer. It's easy to email them and set up a time and day, don't show up unannounced! It's so beautiful and peaceful there at their winery. It's truly and memorable experience, don't miss it when in the area, it was a highlight of our trip!

We had an amazing time here, the history of the winery and the family were shared as part of the total experience. Amazing wines, all pared with beautiful food from the property and Grandma's cheeses were the best, highly recommend

I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. My wife and I enjoyed a private tour of this small family-run winery. Matea, one of the owners along with her brother, gave us a brief history of the winery and the area. We enjoyed 5 (generous helpings) of their own wines from the Rose, Chardonnay, Malvasia, Botarus (Their own blend) and their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine was accompanied by homemade cheeses, bread and cured meat, all created at the site. It was informative but also very interesting and enjoyable. The amazing setting in this valley with views of the Croatian mountains and beside the vines really made this a spectacular day for us. We even had an opportunity to walk amongst the vines and see all of the different grapes used to make these beautiful wines. We then finished the day with 5 different homemade liqueurs to round the visit off nicely. There is a small shop where we purchased a few bottles to take home with us and it was great that there was no pressure to do so. We would recommend this to anyone visiting Cavtat or Dubrovnik (40mins in a cab) and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you again to Matea and the whole family.

Mateea was an amazing host — friendly, knowledgeable, and running a lovely family winery. We tasted Chardonnay, Malvasia, Cabernet, Zinfandel, and a delicious rosé blend. The wines were excellent, and the olive oil was outstanding! The atmosphere was quiet, cozy, and truly special. Highly recommended!

A family owned and operated boutique winery since the 1400’s. The owners made this the best winery tasting experience we have had!

Went for our first ever wine tasting during our honeymoon. Not sure what I was expecting but they exceeded it. The atmosphere was cozy, and Matea was very knowledgeable. It’s very obvious that this family cares deeply about the consumers’ experience, and it’s not just a ploy to get you to buy their wine. They also provide homemade bread and cheese and smoked meats (grandma’s cream cheese was 12/10). That being said, we bought 2 bottles to bring back, because it was the smoothest wine we’ve ever tasted. We will definitely visit again someday

What a wonderful afternoon! The family are so lovely and welcoming and share details of their beautiful wines, liquors, cheese and meat platters. The space is so tranquil! There is a small shop to buy goodies to takeaway with you (but at no point do you feel pressured to do so). We would have loved to but we are hand luggage only so no space liquid-wise. Would absolutely recommend!
