Good spot for elementary school field trips. Okay for youthful indescretions. Not great to see birds, really depends on the day you go. Most will hide in bushes and trees as is their wont. Need sharp eyes and patience. You can get through the few acres of gardens in an hour or so at a leisurely pace.

What a wonderful little place with outdoor gardens. I’m sure it’s beautiful in spring when all the plants bloom. The outdoor area is great, offering plenty of space and shade during hot days. You can’t beat it if you just want to look at a garden and visit home and go to Noah’s Carolina, which is good for kids and adults, especially when you're tired. It works out well. They also have another small 1-acre plot down the road that is free with your paid admission.

This is a cute little place to visit. The fee is $10 per person and they take credit card or cash. We were greeted by a lovely lady and she told us about the gardens. We received our map and started out exploring. We did not see too many flowers or birds at the time we went, but the place is beautiful and peaceful. There are benches along the path to sit if you need to. A few things to note: I use a cane and the pavement bricks are uneven in certain places and since it had rained earlier, it was very slick. Also, it would really not be good for walkers or wheelchairs in my opinion. There are 3 steps to get into the house with handrails. I am sure if you let them know they can let you in the side gate, so you do not have to walk the steps. A nice place to visit if you are in Charlotte and have a few hours.

Beautiful place with a lovely story. I really loved walking around and getting to see all the different types of plants and flowers. My daughter loved it so much from her field trip last week that she wanted us all to see it.

It was a very beautiful garden, very peaceful and even talked to other nice visitors. Going into the houses and gardens were like walking back in time. They really work hard to make this place a wonderful experience. Lots of history and make sure to ask the wonderful ladies questions and listen to what they have to say about the gardens it's very interesting. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping, we even saw a bunny. Be sure to walk 10 houses down to view the other gardens, they will tell you all about it.

I honestly cannot believe that I haven't reviewed this place before now because I've been there so many times that I have lost count. This is one of the best little pockets of nature and beauty in Charlotte city that I have ever visited. I have bought several of my own plants from here from the nursery when they do their sales. I have considered volunteering from how much I love going here, this is one of my favorite nature sanctuaries in Charlotte and if it ever goes away I might actually cry. I usually forget to take pictures when I visit so I have included the picture of a fern that I have taken as well as the information chart for the roses that I bought from the nursery which are growing amazingly in my yard.

Gardens are magical places; very peaceful and quiet with the exception of the beautiful sound coming from the birds & the wind moving through the leaves. In 1926 the Clarksons moved from Texas to Charlotte, they purchased a house with no trees, so they decided to make a garden and put food for the birds, and suddenly all kinds of species started visiting their place. It made me cry seeing the video of the couple who left a wonderful place to visit and spend time at. Their love for birds & all sorts of creatures still remains in that garden. It’s a spectacular place to visit for both adults and children.

This property is so beautiful!! The landscaping and layout is well done and it’s soooo peaceful being there! Singing birds, lizards, chipmunks, a turtle. The plants are so varied, many kinds and different throughout the year. I visited mid-May and here are a few pics of what I saw. Definitely recommend to all!! Two different homes. Important note....it is a garden, and bugs/spiders are a given. Don't forget the bug repellent!! :-)
