I had the most amazing morning flying with Dan and South Pacific Heli Tours. A family owned and operated business offering a personalized experience. We felt incredibly safe and in good hands, it was professional and even though whale watching is not guaranteed (its nature) we were lucky enough to see whales and dolphins. Anyone going to Kaikoura needs to budget for this once in a lifetime experience, it’s a wonderful scenic flight with the alps meeting the sea, & visually spectacular. Whale watching from the air. When I came, it wasn't very busy. If you get seasick or don't like the two-hour bumpy boat ride, you can choose this option. It's not crowded, and you don't have to rush. You can enjoy the sea and dolphins and whales from a different perspective.

We had a wonderful experience, we loved every minute of our flight. Friendly staff, weather was perfect. We were lucky to spot a whale as soon as we were over the water. The pilot was very informative and gave us plenty of opportunity to take photos and videos. We had enough time to fly over the mountains. Beautiful scenery. We had a fantastic flight experience with Wings Over Whales Kaikōura today! The views from above were absolutely breathtaking, and the whole team was friendly and very professional. We felt incredibly lucky to spot two sperm whales, turning our trip into a truly memorable adventure. The pilot shared lots of interesting insights, which made the experience even more special. Fiasco. Unlucky: first we got canceled because of foggy morning. Then we've flown at midday and no wildlife seen: zero whales zero dofins. Nothing. No discount on second chance flight nor alternative compensation offered. Just sorry. Two weeks later this review is answered and a discount is offered. Obviously that's not feasible: two weeks later... we're back home. And the discount is not specified and not public... The whale watch cruises offer 80% refund if no whales are seen, that seems more reasonable. With them we've seen Sperm Whale, Humpback Whale 🐋 and plenty of dolphins 🐬.

Highly recommend! We booked very last minute and the team was very supportive and ensured that we would arrive on time. The team is very professional and knowledgable. They informed us that we will start 15min later to maximise our chances on seeing whales, which worked perfect. Thank you for the whole team for this amazing experience!

The flight was smooth, the staff are kind. They really know their whales and their behavior which ensured we spotted them. The weather was amazing, the mountains were spectacular, and the whales were magnificent. The trip made me feel like walking on air the rest of the afternoon.

I give six stars and you see five cuz I keep one in my heart. Saw a lovely hunchback twice thanks to our pilot’s eyes. I’ve seen whales at Gold Coast on the boat at close distance, but It’s a different way of stunning to see these giants along with their habitat, this scale gives me an much clearer idea of how much space it takes for sea mammals to have a reasonable living. In short, it’s worth it.
