Winking Lizard Avon

I have always liked the Winking Lizard. This was my first time at this location. The atmosphere was fun and entertaining. Multiple televisions with all the different sport games on. The food was very good. They have a good selection on their menu. They have a seasonal menu as well. They usually have something that is unique on it. They were having their clamp bake when we were there. Our waitress was very nice and checked on us frequently. I recommend checking them out.

Got the Lizard Freckles, Soft Bavarian Pretzel Sticks, Spicy Garlic Wings, Spicy Sesame Wings, and the spring seasonal Chili Lime Wings. Everything was good, as expected from being at other Winking Lizards. I wouldn't call the Spicy Sesame spicy though, it was basically a teriyaki sauce. The Chili Lime sauce was awesome. Very lime forward but in a good way. I kinda want it to be a staple. Service was good. Katie S took great care of us. She was running back and fourth a lot and was really only slowed down by the bar. The atmosphere matches the other Winking Lizard locations.

The front of house personnel was awesome. We were seated quickly and the restaurant was very clean. The waitor was very attentive and very fast. The food came out in a decent amount of time and was cooked well. The fries were delicious and the burgers were good as well. There are many tvs to watch as well. There's a decent size parking lot and it's easy to park in. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Have to thank Madison for making our visit fun. Stopped in for a brew and a bite. The bar pizza was delicious. Had the Lime Mexican lager- Enjoyed Cool place. Huge. Plenty of TV’s.

Best Bourbon selection Ive seen in awhile, plus they curate their own versions. Great wings. A real light in the dim danky darkness that is Cleveland.

I love this place for its special atmosphere and great cocktails. It's also one of the few spots where I can watch European football (soccer). While the service could be better, it is a tavern, so my expectations aren't too high. My favorite dish is the Mesa Chop salad, I highly recommend to try, and my husband loves the ribs. This place is a great spot to go with friends.

First I would like to start with our server Ocean!!! They were AMAZING!!! our glasses stayed full our food came in a timely manner ! He was so polite and knew the menu and was able to help us effectively! Drinks were so good! Food was in point!! Bathrooms were clean. WOULD FOR SURE REVISIT!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Our waiter was top notch. The food was awesome. The prices are inexpensive. The whole vibe of the restaurant was just off the charts. We will be a regular customer.

This is a decent local chain with good food but lousy service. Lousy! To be fair, I ordered take out. I called my order in and they said it would be about 20 minutes. Fair enough. As it happened, I got there exactly 20 minutes later. It wasn't ready. Ok, you have to give them some leeway! Another 10-15 minutes passed and still no order. They told me they were just waiting on the appetizer which was a Southwestern "egg roll." I waited 10 whole additional minutes for a mediocre egg roll. Look, I get it, people fall behind. But when I get there after 20 minutes, as told, and then have to wait an additional 15 minutes, no thanks. For my meal, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken wrap sandwich with steak fries. It wasn't that bad. It was decent. Not exceptional but exactly what I expected, so kudos there. I ordered a burger for my friend and he ate it. So I assume it was satisfactory. Good or just decent service would have been a 4/5... which is very good. It's not going to win culinary awards. but good. Crappy service, 3/5 Oh, and the manager was pissed when I told him I wouldn't be back. He knew exactly why, but insisted on following me out the door! Seriously! I wasn't even rude. I just told him to do his own homework. Fact is, he knew EXACTLY why I wasn't coming back.

it's been a while but they are holding the name of winking lizard up to high esteem. Ask for the discount drink menu. It was quite surprising. It's a party in here. Was a busy night in restaurant but an absolute good time.

First time in this restaurant good atmosphere and location plenty of parking lots of plenty of television around big menu and drink menu I had the regular small pizza and Bavarian pretzel both were delicious

Decided to get a late dinner on a Wednesday night. Arrived at 8:30 and it was slow but all the staff were ready to serve as they completed their side work. My wife and I ordered burgers. I had the Blue Shroom Burger that was good. It had melted blue cheese and bacon and grilled mushrooms and a side of steak fries. Lots of TVs to watch games and it wasn't too loud being a late Wednesday. Served quick and the bartender was pleasant and relatively attentive.

My friend and I went for the clam bake. It was my first time at a Winking Lizard. It will not be my last. We both got the clam bake with lobster tails. It was FANTASTIC!! $40.00 are you kidding me. In today's world, that is a deal. It started with New England clam chowder. It was excellent. Then we got the clams, also excellent. Then the lobster tails (X2) came out with the potato, I chose the sweet potato, an ear of corn and cheesy garlic bread. It was so much food I took home the corn & bread. This honestly was the best bake I've ever had. Our server was Larry. He was very nice and attentive. The manager, Joe then came out and chatted with us. Overall a great experience, dinner, wine, etc. All I can say is what a treat! We will be back next year. Thank you Winking Lizard Avon.

I have been to multiple Winking Lizard locations and everyone is great. Their monthly specials are great so you have to check them out.

This local dive bar is just the thing we were looking for in the clevland area. Service, from Larry, our waiter was awesome, and he made sure we had everything we needed at a time. Pricing was very affordable and nice size portions. Interior atmosphere and one side was a bar area, and the other side of the live iguana was a quieter ambiance. I went with Honey Thai wings, and my wife went with another spicy wing sauce. our friend went with Tennessee hot, and one went with the special fried ravioli. with an order of their St Louis BBQ ribs. Each was perfectly cooked, and they were some meaty wings and meaty ribs that fell off the bone and very tasty. Each sauce was very good and enjoyed trying the side of their homemade BBQ sauce. TVs everywhere and some games in a space for the kids (and me) with a nice full bar! Thanks, Larry, for making this our new favorite in Avon!

Always great for takeout, I got the Buffalo Chicken wrap with fries, the food has been consistent and it's cooked fast

Used to love the pizza here, but the last two times we did take out...the pizza was completely undercooked. So raw in fact, that I threw it out. Tried it again thinking that was a fluke and specifically requested that it was fully cooked. It even indicated that on the order receipt. Got home to find it even worse than the first order and to top it off we had NINE tops and stems of banana peppers on the pizza...completely inedible.

great food! classic bar food with actually good prices. it's got a cool atmosphere, definitely bar feel. the service was okay, the young girls at the front desk seemed very rude and judgmental and did not greet us, instead looked at us like "what do you want". it took our waitress a while to greet us and take our drink order but she was super sweet and gave us great service otherwise!

I have been to this location many times and always order the same thing, a buffalo chicken salad, which is always delicious! I always request for the kitchen to chop the salad extra and they have never given me a difficult time, however, today the manager, Jesse, said it was impossible to do. I am very disappointed as I don't believe chopping lettuce is an unrealistic request. I will not be returning to this location.

Went here On the recommendation of a relative. Actually drove out of the way. The Winking Lizard has a cute name but there is really nothing remarkable the place except the inflated prices. We had a rathe large party and we're promptly seated. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The menu consists of most what you would expect, wings, burgers and pizza. The food is average at best. Nothing to keep me coming back here or recommending that you do. It isn't bad but it is unremarkable. Order were filled correctly but nothing stood out. I ordered a burger and it was ok. Typical French fry side. If you want to say you've been here then stop in. Otherwise, give it some thought. There was nothing here for me that demanded a return visit.

Mmm... delicious! I recently had the pleasure of dining here a couple times and both times I had an excellent experience. I ordered a grilled cheese and fries the first time, and then the next time I ordered a cheeseburger and fries w/ their magnificent bbq sauce. I love the quality of the food here -- everything was cooked to perfection. I couldn't have been more pleased with my meals. I also love the fact they have coca-cola freestyle. I don't usually like the coca-cola products, but when a company has the freestyle with different shot of flavors to add to the drink, it makes it so much better! In addition to the delicious food and drink, each time the service at the restaurant was top-notch. The staff were attentive and friendly and went above and beyond to ensure that I had a wonderful dining experience. I used to go to winking lizard most exclusively with my parents back in the day when they were located further east on Detroit Rd, which seemed much bigger and nicer, but nevertheless, still as delicious as it used to be.

Love their wings and atmosphere. It is one of my favorite places to go eat. I always have good service there, no matter which restaurant I go to.

Welcome back from pandemic. This place is a regular haunt for me. Looks like the bourbon and whiskey selection has grown exponentially. Which is more my style. Yes they still have a stellar beer selection. Today I ordered the baby back ribs. They where cooked to perfection. I like the fact that the sauce is light and you can add more. Which works for the left overs I can add some of my own favs. The young lady who waited on us was boring until we started joking and she played along. But her service was impeccable and she was very attentive.

Their garlic cheese bread is delicious! My fave thing to get here is their boneless wings and their house salad! My kids love that they have a popcorn machine :) its a great place to watch a sports game and grab a bite to eat.

First visit to Winking Lizard Tavern! I was very impressed with the overall experience. The ambiance is softly lit with comfortable booths and tables. Enjoyable music brings an ideal atmosphere for relaxing! As we all know, half of the pleasure of dining out is hospitality and Winking Lizard is not lacking in this department! Their menu is vast with a variety of scrumptious food!! Their Spinach and Artichoke dip is exceptional! Their burgers are charbroiled to perfection! Shout out to our awesome server, Larry, and to our most gracious hostess, Jillian! It was very thoughtful and considerate to receive a visit to our table from manager, Tom, who was quite welcoming & friendly! Interior and service were great. Food was pretty good. Would recommend to parties of 3 or more

This place is your average eatery. We got a Cajun Fat Tuesday pasta dish and a bacon burger and split them. They weren't bad but weren't anything to rave about. Our server was nice and cheerful. He was the best part of our visit. Anywho, we felt the servings were skimpy. We just got a handful of fries and the bacon was so thin it shattered and most of it decorated my plate.

Heyyyy there's this strange lizard that keeps winking at me from across the other side of the tavern I totally think she thinks I want her fly or something either way this other lizard in the tavern is really dishing out what's good in a not so lizard fly loving way! Coming here I didn't really know what to expect but what I found was some delicious eats and cold drinks as well as some free popcorn! Upon arrival there was a short wait for us which gave us some time to grab some popcorn which definitely helped hold us over for until we were seated you so know I was all for this as popcorn is one of my favorite things! Once seated we ordered some lizard freckles because why not who doesn't just love such a thing they were fried yummy with a dill pickle flavor that just went well with the ranch as well as their delicious bbq sauce for even more of a kick! Of the choices I went with the BBQ Burger as that's just what I was feeling and a right choice it was as the entire burger was super flavorful and just down right yummy even more so with a bit more of their delicious bbq sauce! The burger came with steak fries which were also good but what made them better was you guessed it dipping them in there delicious bbq sauce! Our food was super yummy and came out quickly our service was awesome and the whole vibe here was just chill for the given night just the way a lizard would like it! Overall yummy food a strange theme and some thirst quenching drinks I totally hope to get back here again at some point just to hangout with the lizards!

Have eaten lunch here a few times within the last 3-4 weeks. The food was delicious. The spinach dip was the best i've had and my asian chicken saland and the mesa salad was also amazing! The best part about the entire experience was our waitress! Shannon was so friendly, personable and knowledgeable with the menu! She was attentive and so sweet! We were lucky to have her every time we went! We will now ask for her when we go. Thank you Shannon and if you are lucky enough to have her as your server, you are very lucky!

OManagement does not understand customer service. Garage doors were closed on a beautiful day, a/c was cranked and so cold we had to leave !! All because a "manager" wanted it that way. AND the food sucks !!

I heard about the place from a friend who recommended the chicken wings.. I went with the family and was disappointed with the chicken wings which had a skin with sauce hard like rock.. I am not sure if it was just my luck during this visit or it is always like that.. the only thing I liked is the full slab rib dinner .. this is what could make me do another visit one day

My family and I always end up going here for like a black Friday shopping break in Avon or also the one in Lakewood on the way home from Baseball games The reason for three stars is because our last experience there was less than exemplary. We had four children with us. It took us over an hour and a half to get our food because apparently they forgot to process our tickets so the manager came out finally, and did comp our food which is great but everyone was really starving.

Everything was AMAZING. The batter was perfectly adhered to the Beer Battered Haddock, and it wasn't dried out or under cooked. The Beer Battered Onion Rings and Bavarian Soft Pretzels W/ Beer Cheese were fantastic! We are definitely coming back.

Food is very good. The service is wonderful and quick. Ambiance is loud especially when it's the on hours for lunch and dinner. Yet my friend and I had no real problem conversing. I can't wait to go back again.

Mr. Man, the lizard and I go back to the time they were on Detroit Rd. in Westlake. It was nice then because we could have walked home... They moved to Avon and my friend and I had dinner there almost every night for about 2 years. We absolutely loved it. If you want to impress a boy or a girl, unless they are big into sports, don't take them to a sports bar. However, my friend and I loved their food, and we must have tried just about everything. I really enjoyed their special menus like for the Great lent. I had a salmon sandwich with a tzatziki sauce which was great. Their wings are also very good and also the loaded Lizard Nachos and Cheese. You order a large Nachos and you can take half home for later. Their assortment of "designer's beers" are amazing and pretty limitless. I could have paid my mortgage with the money I invested in this place, but I have no regrets. Their garden in summer is beautiful.

Wish they offered Margaritas in Pitchers. Server was able to get Bartending to make us Mudslides! Very good! Many TVS with different games for all! Fun afternoon!

Great atmosphere and great food! Prices like everywhere though are getting outrageous!

Food was average bar food, nothing to rave about. Asked about any gluten free options waitress said nachos? I am not celiac but can't eat it. She didn't seem to really care otherwise. Like eh. Had our four kids (3 teens) with us which two asked for the same thing lizard lips which one received a kids with fries for 5.50 and the other received no fries and charged as an appetizer $10 (same amount of chicken). I got cheese fries and had to let daughter eat most of them. My two sons shared a small pizza not knowing it was like a kids small pizza (size of a plate). My husband got a Long Island and it was all sour mix. The tvs and claw machines were cool. If you're going to grab a beer and watch a game I would suggest it all day otherwise...eh.

My granddaughter is 10. She ate "lizard lips" and fries. She now has food poisoning and has thrown up 6 times and has diarrhea that won't stop!!! Never going back again!!!

As always, Winking Lizard doesn't disappoint. Went there for wings. Fiancé and I shared a full appetizer of their cheese fries. Honey garlic wings will always be my favorite and absolutely delicious dipping in ranch.

I absolutely LOVE the winking lizard wings!! Thankfully they have a great menu so it's never hard to talk anyone into going!!! I've tried almost every flavor sauce. And no matter what your favorite is they've got it! The wings are crispy outside and tender and juicy inside! I also love their chili too! My girlfriend loves the salads and my son is a fan of the cajun chicken sandwich! We always have great service! This Avon location is one of my favorites. The drink menu is crazy inclusive i dare ya to not find a good drink here! It's also a great place to catch a game there's TV's everywhere!

The lizard carried my HB Beer back in the day for years on the bottle list & for that I am eternally grateful. I only go to the new Avon location when my buddy Adam wants to get a few beers bc it's close to his house. It's either that or the rush inn & I'll take the lizard over that joint. I drink bud lights & he gets the crafts. It's a crowded bar, it's like the west side sailboat crowd. Outside is cool but today a thunderstorm. Kids in the restaurant all the time that's not my scene. Mr.mann the big iguana is awesome he's been with them a long time. He was eating his veggies this time, they do eat & run around when they want adam told me. He had one. Mostly they sit in the sun, a good life. I do get the buffalo chicken salad if I am eating there & I love it. Hey if u want a half head of iceberg with lots of celery & great chicken breast covered in bleu cheese this is the salad for u. I like the big ass wood mixing bowl it comes in. By the end I feel like I've eaten a lifetime of celery. The wings app come on a small plate like I feed my cat on. It's very suspicious when I tell the cat. The ribs are good too. That's the lizard they're all kinda the same & been there done that for me. I finished the tour way back when but I gave up those crafty beers for lent years ago HA.

This place is a step above a TGI Fridays. You don't come here for a fancy night out or for fine dining. For burgers, beer, and wings, this place gets the job done. Exceptionally friendly service. I ordered the patty melt and I have to say it was spot on. The ribs were a little dry. The wing sauce and BBQ sauce tasted a little processed, but overall a decent dining experience. If you're going to come here, stick to burgers and traditional bar food.

Second time at Winking Lizard, went around 4pm on a Sunday with 4 adults and 3 children. Was told the wait would be about 45 minutes, well it was about 15ish so that was a pleasant surprise! Plus the popcorn is a nice addition to keep kids occupied while waiting. We had a nice waitress, the food was good, wings and burgers you can't go wrong. Overall a good experience! I'd come back for wing night and grab a beer for sure.

I've been to multiple Winking Lizard locations and this one is close to the best. Unlike many of them, they actually have a reptile on display right in the middle of the restaurant. It is a great place to watch some football and don't forget about the $6, 32 oz. domestics during game day! Of all the food the Winking Lizard offers, the boneless wings are the best. Honey garlic is the go to flavor, providing the perfect combination of honey BBQ and Parmesan garlic. You can count on me spending many of my game days here!

The food was great! I ordered a patty melt on sourdough with fries well done and a draft beer. Everything was well prepared and flavorful. My server, Larry, was very attentive and friendly, the food came out quickly and Larry made sure we had everything we needed for a great experience.

Great food, service and ambience. Ribs were the best I've ever had! Plenty of food. But the best is the hostess, Natalie! She is so friendly and welcoming. Just a beautiful girl!!

No. Just no. The food is subpar at best. The service is horrendous. Staff have an attitude and act as if you're a burden. Servers take forever to do anything - from coming to your table to bringing you drinks and even bringing you your check.

I just realized I've never reviewed the Winking Lizard in Avon! Always a good meal here. Yes, it's a busy location and you should plan on waiting for a table and sometimes the service is lacking...but it's always been quality food. We typically order the St. Louis style ribs, bourbon barrel wings, a salad with that amazing dressing - the Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette - and lastly, they have good seasonal specials. My fiance loves the Clam Bake in the fall - in fact, he's had it twice in the last two weeks! Of course, we also love the beer menu and sometimes venture off it to get a drink special. All in all, solid food in a great atmosphere to watch a game or just a casual dinner.

Tried to take my family of 5 to the Avon, OH Winking Lizard and before we could even fully get through the front door the hostess yells "you can't bring him in here with cleats on!". She was referencing my 4 year old son and his hand-me-down pretend cleats who had entered the restaurant ahead of my wife and other boys. It was explained to us that the floors are too slick for him to walk on with cleats, which we offered to carry him (again...he's 4 years old), to and from the table, however this wasn't deemed an acceptable option. We also offered to remove his shoes, however no shoes, no service. My bill for a family of 5 would have been north of $125 plus tip, however in this circumstance we were turned away and refused service as a result one a 4 year old and plastic cleats. Simply amazing. Do what you will with this information, Avon.

I have been to a few of the locations and this one is excellent had a nice time here . Very cozy and not cramped up type of atmosphere. I had the Hanson burger excellent!!! The workers here are super nice and welcoming. Fast service and great food here , I will definitely return and I live 30 minutes from here .

I've been here three times . First time there was a kitchen issue and no food could be made . The third time we got there at 9:02 apparently the kitchen was closed . I'm standing at the front door and a chick that was bussing tables stepped on my food and walked away . These were brand new . Anyways , didn't apologize and we just left .

I've seen wing orders for the last few months , wings just dripping in the sauce , so tonight I thought I'd order some...I usually ask for extra sauce on the side because I love sauce and they charge you , ready, $.39 for extra sauce ..... well ok So when my order comes , they are completely dry..... No sauce So I asked the wait staff what happened to the sauce , the answer was " that's how they always come " Knowing better , and against my better judgement I asked to take them back and toss them in some sauce When they returned , plenty of sauce , only they were ice cold . In fact 2 Of them were still frozen together So no , won't send them back ( I worked restaurants in my younger days) I just wonder such a poor example of a meal could leave the kitchen without any quality assurance program

Guys, I know times are tough, but last night's chicken parmigiana sub to go was totally uninspiring! It was literally HALF a sandwich, but when I called in to inform - I was told you're having problems with the sizes of bread?? Then - "we haven't changed the size of chicken" was supposed to save you? Nah! It was dry, salty, and a total fail. Did you get this from Antonio's across the street? You made me miss Zeppe's once again... If you are aware of shortcomings, don't SEND IT!!

Got take-out from here the other night, we ordered over the phone. The staff was very friendly and ordering was easy. When we got there the parking lot was jammed but luckily they had designated spots for people getting take-out, so again, very easy. Even though we got there at the exact time when our order was supposed to be ready, we still had to wait 10 minutes. Ok, sometimes things happen not a huge deal since we had nowhere to be that day. The reason for the 2 star review is that the food was not good. Since the pandemic it feels like the quality has gone downhill. My burger was well done even though I ordered it medium, and for all you burger aficionados out there you understand how grave a mistake this is. It was very dry. There were hardly any onions or cheese on the burger, which were the main toppings. The fries were decent. We also got an order of wings, 10-pack, and were only given 9. When you get wings as a meal, pay as much as you do for them, and then are shorted a wing after leaving a generous tip because it's a pandemic and you want to support the workers, it's annoying. The meal/experience was sub-par at best. We won't be going back.
