"Feel the Vibe on Winnifred Beach This gem of a beach, located in the lush eastern parish of Portland, isn’t visible to the naked eye. Halfway between Frenchman's Cove and Boston Bay, you’ll need a four-wheel vehicle to go down a very narrow and rugged path off the main highway, unmarked and bumpy all the way to the beach below. Anyone will be happy to direct you when you ask. And once there, you’ll find a gorgeous golden sand beach, dotted with trees and facing deep turquoise waters. A nice mix of locals and the occasional savvy or returning visitors relax here. There are jerk stands on site, serving some of the best local dishes, crafts vendors and occasional live Reggae. The water is a stunning deep turquoise and ideal for snorkeling off a nearby reef. It’s one of the few gorgeous stretches to remain public in Jamaica . Get there while you can."

"Winnifred is my favorite public beach in Jamaica, and has such a local charm. We arrived and were greeted by a beautiful beach bonfire waiting to be lit at sunset."

This is a beautiful beach area with nice photo opportunities of rocky outcrops. The wave action wasn't bad and there was alot of wildlife to see.

This beach was so beautiful . It was a bit of a long trip from Kingston , approximately 2 hours ( if you don’t include the stops) 🤭. The weekends are a bit full so I recommend arriving earlier than 11AM , especially if you want to find a good parking space . The beach has good small vendors , where you can purchase snacks and beverages. The water was crystal . I have no complaints .

Beautiful beach ran by locals to keep it free and accessible. Many of surrounding beaches are privatized. Use of a "donation system: is used to help maintain beach. I felt safe and comfortable and the sea felt amazing. From main road, short drive to beach. Road network could be better but worth it. Parking was adequate. Bathroom and changing areas needs some work but, I was assured by operators that will be rectified shortly. Definitely would go back.

A bit removed from the main road but that's what hidden gems are. While Winnifred Beach is free to enter, a contribution is basically required to enter if you drive, but it's way less than other attractions. The beach itself does have a rocky frontage in some areas, so water shoes/ Crocs, also the beach is prone to sea urchins so beware of those. But with public beaches they're were people with their music and food. But just go early

Portland has my heart, no doubt. This was such a beautiful beach. Clean n very friendly staff n vendors. The beach is free, but they ask for a donation to help kp the beach clean n nice. They have a bathroom to change, various food vendors n a beautiful cool water beach to relax in all day. Definitely family friendly n comfortable. LOVE it n will definitely be back.

I thought this beach was great. The water was beautiful. The sand was nice and it had a nice feel to it. There was a bunch of vendors selling stuff, but they weren’t over the top aggressive like some other places I had been in Jamaica overall had a great experience here.

Nice little public beach that is readily accessible to anyone. I wouldn't say it's the best beach in Portland, but it is definitely one that can pass. The environment was clean, and the vibe was nice. This is really one of the few 'free' beaches you can find there Well, the admission is free, yes, but every now again, especially on the weekends, they may ask for a contribution. They say it goes towards helping with the maintainace of the beach. I don't mind giving a contribution for that purpose, because it's a beautiful beach and it takes money to keep things in good condition. Parking isn't an issue. There is plenty of space. There are some stalls there that I think sell food and beverages. I didn't really go over there, so I dont have much to say there. The beach, at the time of my visit, did have a sea urchin issue. They took over a large part of the sea bed... Not sure if that's the case nowadays, though.

Favorite beach on this side of the island. Beach is protected from the open water by a natural reef. Entry is via donation, place is fairly clean. Lacking certain ammenities for a beach of this size and popularity
