Winstrup Hostel

My three nights at Winstrup Hostel was perfect. I opted for my own room, which was very compact but okay. If there were two of you (bunks), then it would be a little cramped if you had a lot of luggage. However, it worked very well and I slept well. The food storage arrangements in the kitchen were very good, and the kitchen was very well-equipped. Lots of tables where you could sit to have your meal. Just five minutes walk from the railways station, five minutes in the other direction took you to the Cathedral, one of the best in the Nordic countries. An enormous ICA store, just a couple of minutes walk away, open from 6 AM to 11 PM, ensured easy access to all the food provisions you could wish for. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and wine bars very close by too. The only criticism I have is that the keypad on the door to the corridor with the bedrooms, looked nothing like a keypad. Several guests, including me, had to phone for instructions. I provide a photograph, it would be better if the hostel provided a photo, so people could understand that the small buttons are actually a key pad.

We were greeted warmly and invited in a little bit early. We happily accepted and got out of the rain. Agneta was lovely and shared some of the history of the hostel which was very interesting. It is a beautiful, older building which she and her husband have renovated and decorated with great care, tastefully and with great attention to the details. ||We had the “Windmill Room” and could see the eponymous windmill from our window. The room was charming and spotless. ||Although we did not have an en-suite shower, there were several available with plenty of hot water just steps from our room. ||The kitchen is well equipped and very pleasant to cook in. And the dining area was charming and welcoming. ||We chose to enjoy the hostel’s buffet breakfast and were so happy we did. There was a great selection of breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, coffee, and tea. ||Although we were excited to continue our tour of the south Swedish coast, we were a bit sad to leave this comfortable home.

The location is excellent – I’m very satisfied. The hostel was clean, and the guests were quiet, even though there were families with children. I’m planning to return privately with my girlfriend and stay at this very hostel again. It fully met my expectations – 100%.

I honestly don’t even know where to begin. My experience at this hostel was an absolute nightmare, mostly because of the complete lack of customer service and the fact that there was no front desk to even speak to anyone.||When I arrived, I stood in front of what was supposed to be the "reception" area for a solid 20 minutes, hoping someone would answer the phone. No one did. I had to find my own way around the hostel, figuring out where the rooms were, where to store my bags, and even how to access the wifi. Just by asking random guests.||Throughout my stay, there was no one to talk to about anything. No front desk staff, no manager, no one. If there was an issue with the room or anything else, I had to either solve it myself or wait for someone who maybe would be around eventually.||I tried calling the number listed, but it just kept ringing. It felt like the hostel was completely abandoned and guests were expected to just figure things out on their own. Not the kind of experience you expect when you're paying for a place to stay.

Centrally located, small, modern, clean hostel. There are extra showers/toilets for women and female dorms are the same price as regular ones. Staff was very sweet, highly recommend this place! :)

I arrived early morning before check in time and the hostel owner offered me to use the facility before check in time . I could leave my luggage*at my own risk , and stroll around Lund . The hostel is in the centrum, near by cathedral and university .

A really disappointing experience. The shared dorms were unclean with common area that hadn’t been cleaned properly. It's noisy throughout the night making it hard to get any sleep. To make matters worse the hostel never answered the phone and had no staff at the building. I would not recomend staying here.

Very clean hostel. Good facilities and well equipped kitchen. Good system for storing food using boxes. Close to rail station.
