Winstrup Hostel

We were greeted warmly and invited in a little bit early. We happily accepted and got out of the rain. Agneta was lovely and shared some of the history of the hostel which was very interesting. It is a beautiful, older building which she and her husband have renovated and decorated with great care, tastefully and with great attention to the details. ||We had the “Windmill Room” and could see the eponymous windmill from our window. The room was charming and spotless. ||Although we did not have an en-suite shower, there were several available with plenty of hot water just steps from our room. ||The kitchen is well equipped and very pleasant to cook in. And the dining area was charming and welcoming. ||We chose to enjoy the hostel’s buffet breakfast and were so happy we did. There was a great selection of breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, coffee, and tea. ||Although we were excited to continue our tour of the south Swedish coast, we were a bit sad to leave this comfortable home.

The location is excellent – I’m very satisfied. The hostel was clean, and the guests were quiet, even though there were families with children. I’m planning to return privately with my girlfriend and stay at this very hostel again. It fully met my expectations – 100%.

Nice staff, clean areas, great with kitchen, cozy sleeping pod. I stayed in the women only room. Bring a towel and a lock if you don’t want to rent it. Good Wi-Fi. I went for studies and stayed two nights, this is the best option if you want to be close to the central station and walking distance to the university.

The matress is really thin and there is only one sink at the bathrooms. But the hostel was really clean and central. The price was fair and the room big enough.

I like the cabins where you get to sleep and for the money, it is fine. But the rooms without windows are quite uncomfortable and a bit too expensive.

I could enter the hostel in the morning with the code that was sent to me and left my suitcase behind the reception. Even though there is no one to take care of it, I had the feeling that it should be safe (but can't be promised of course). When I came back in the evening, I could enter my room and the bathroom with the other codes. Everything was clean and I had a lot of privacy in the sleeping pod because of th curtains.

I stayed a few nights in the women's dorm and really enjoyed my stay. The curtains in the sleeping pods really gave a nice amount of privacy. The bathroom facilities are very comfortable and clean, and having a kitchen that's free to use is also great. Self check-in and check-out was interesting, but I had no issues with it in the end. Above all the location was ideal, just a 5 minute walk to the train station and like a 3 minute walk to the cathedral! All in all a really great place to stay if you want to really get to know Lund. The reason I'm giving less than 5 stars is due to the wifi network being unreliable. Otherwise I can't complain!

Recommended. It's a clean, convenient hostel with well-maintained kitchen, lounge, bathroom and dormitories. The staff is friendly and helpful and the priority is cleaning and organization of the space rather than manning a front desk. Guests use codes to access their spaces. I liked Lund so well that I stayed two extra weeks. When small issues arose the staff was responsive to remove a disruptive guest, reset wifi, etc. but mostly it was hastle-free.
