"In the heart of Yankee Connecticut, Winvian Farm is a perfect retreat for the jaded captain of industry wanting to reconnect with their playful inner child. The owners of Vermont’s Pitcher Inn commissioned 15 New England architects to build 18 cottages and 1 suite on a 113-acre estate. Each of the ultra-comfortable and unique cottages is based on a different concept (Library, Treehouse, Helicopter). The best is Beaver Lodge, which gracefully resolves the oxymoronic luxurious trapper’s cabin with hardwoods, an authentic polished beaver’s den preserved in the ceiling, two fireplaces, and a bathroom floor of water-smoothed river stones. In Camping, stars illuminate the ceiling, and marshmallows are set out for roasting in the fireplace. Two of Winvian’s strong points are the standout cuisine of chef Chris Eddy, who has worked with Daniel Boulud and Alain Ducasse, and the well-stocked wine cellar. Guests, and locals in need of some R&R, are welcome to the spa."

We arrived with high expectations and were pleasantly surprised that they were, for the most part, exceeded. A lot of thought has gone into making this a luxury experience and I give the management a lot of credit for finding and training staff which I imagine is quite difficult given the remote location. The team goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and helpful with anything you might need. We stayed in Maritime cottage which we thought was a great choice since we made a lot of use of the screened porch. The architecture is creative and furnishings in great shape. I imagine you'd find all of the cottages (which vary greatly) to be the same. Food is excellent at the on-site restaurants (upstairs more formal tasting menu; downstairs a la carte.) The prices are high but, coming from New York City where we dine out often, we felt the food was comparable to the quality at similar prices. Small fitness center on site as well as an outdoor pool. One oddity: they have unremovable hangers fixed in the closet (as you might find in a roadside hotel) which make it difficult to hang and remove clothes. I realize if I say "the clientele paying these prices wouldn't steal hangers" they'd reply that "I'd be surprised" so instead suggest that management just replace with removable hangers and assume it as a cost of doing business. Wonderful place - highly recommended!

Winvian Wedding! Our daughter was married in April 2025 at Winvian Farms and it was simply spectacular. We cannot rave enough about everyone at Winvian. The rehearsal dinner, welcome event, the wedding ceremony, reception, and Sunday brunch were, each in their own right, outstanding. Everyone at the wedding was blown away by the food. Chef is a genius. We have no idea how he is able to prepare such delicious food for so many people. Everyone at Winvian was so well organized, kind, efficient and fun to work with. Special shout outs to Ann, Erin, Stefano, Lauren, Rachel, and of course Chef. The cottages are amazing, the grounds so beautiful, and the Spa is a dream. The Morris/Litchfield area is wonderful. All of our guests thought that the wedding weekend was the best that they had ever attended. Thank you all!

We stayed in the beautiful Beaver Lodge. It was the perfect combination of simple and woodsy but with 5 star amenities. We loved the deep soaking tub and lovely porch that faced the woods. The staff for the most part were very helpful and responsive except on two occasions when I didn't feel like they got back to us in a timely manner. The food was delicious in the casual dining space but when breakfast was delivered one morning we found a hair in our bacon. That was really disappointing. You definitely need to prearrange activities before you get there as there is not much to do spur of the moment. We did drive over to the town of Litchfield and it was very charming with great restaurants and shopping.

My mom and I live locally and paid a visit for the spa and lunch. We were blown away by the attention and kindness of the spa staff. They offered us the most top notch Amenities and services. And for lunch, the staff was incredible — as was the food! Thank you to everyone there who made my mom’s day so special. It was great being able to have a slice of paradise right in our own backyard!

Absolutely fantastic in every way. From the food to the spa to the lodging, our stay at Winvian was incredible. Winvian goes the extra mile to make every aspect of the experience something special. My wife and I stayed in the Beaver Lodge for 4 nights. The cabin had heated floors, and incredible bathroom with a shower spa and a tub that filled from the ceiling. The Bose sound system was fantastic and easy to connect. The food was ridiculous, and we ate way too much. The lattes are a must have! Even the breakfast omelets were different and delicious. The spa was equally as nice. We enjoyed a couples massage by a wood fire in total relaxation. Our highlight was the Tibetan Sound Bowl healing therapy! We will cannot wait to return.

I have traveled all over the world in my lifetime. I have stayed at 5 star hotels and resorts. Winvian Farms deserves 10 stars! Absolute perfection from the beautiful Connecticut country side to the cottage accommodations which enhanced my stay with incredible comfort and beauty! I hated to leave! The staff was beyond helpful, friendly and eager to insure your stay was going to be perfect! The food deserves another 10 stars! Farm to table presentations from breakfast in my room to banquet meals served as if cooked only for you! If you are lucky enough to stay here you will never forget it!

Google
The unique cabins at Winvian are wonderful. Aside from that, our visit was disappointing. Some of the food was good, but some was not up to par, including pancakes that were chalky and undercooked, gnocchi that had no right being called gnocchi, among others. They forgot to do housekeeping, and didn't try to do turn down until well after the published time (and there was nothing to turn down). The service overall was good, but awkward at times. Of the several Relais's we've stayed at, this one was the least good and the most expensive.

This was the best vacation we have had in a while. If you want a luxury place to stay, with the best staff ever. This is the place. Restaurant and spa on location. Both are 5 star. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed in this cottage for 4 nights and had a good stay. The resort has a lot of good amenities and each cottage has a theme. The details of the cottages are great. They have a playground (gym), and also a pool. There was an employee at the pool between certain hours that was able to make drinks for you. Each cottage had bicycles. We stayed in the Maritime cottage which had heated bathroom floor, steam shower, bose speaker system that traveled throughout the cottage with volume control in each of the rooms. The reason I picked this specific cottage was for the bathroom, living room, and screened porch. Those rooms were open and spacious. When we needed anything, we called the front building and they had it delivered to us. We also called them to let them know when we wanted our turn down service starts at the earliest 5pm. They asked us if we wanted makeup service, which is the cleaning during the earlier part of the day. Breakfast hours were around 7/7:30-10am. We also dined on site at the tavern one of the days we were there for lunch and also had the private dining. Both gave us very nice vegan options, especially the private dining experience. Everything they brought out was exceptional and this is coming from a bit of a picky eater. I didn't have to think or second guess any of the meals for that experience. I went to the spa for a 30 minute reflexology session which was great and very relaxing. We were advised to arrive 15 minutes before our actual massage in order to have enough time to fill out some paper work. Mine was done on a tablet and my FIL was filling out an actual paper. This process was quite fast and not as lengthy as I expected. We were done quickly and showed to the locker rooms to change. We changed into robes and slippers that were in the lockers. We were offered teas and sent to a relaxing seating area to wait for our massueses. They also had very nice outdoor seating areas. I did a couple of paintings while there. This is a gated community so when you come back, you have to call the front building from the callbox at the front to open the gate. All in all it was a great experience that would have you feeling as though you are in a different country.

Yelp
My partner and I stayed at Winvian for our 12 year anniversary, and it couldn't have been a better experience! We booked the Charter Oak cottage, which I HIGHLY recommend (it's a popular one--reserve it very early!!). The interior features two fireplaces, a giant tree up the center of the room, a private enclosed deck overlooking the grounds, and an enormous jacuzzi tub/shower/steam room bathroom experience that is not to be missed! Upon arrival, we were welcomed and shown around by Jack, who was an absolute angel and promptly saw to our every need throughout our stay. We entered the cottage to find a complimentary bottle of chilled Prosecco and a lovely anniversary card waiting for us. We got settled in and headed to the on-site restaurant for dinner, where we were seated privately in front of a giant fireplace, and ate what I truly think was the best meal of my life! Everything was impeccably fresh and perfectly prepared, and I savored every single bite. After dinner, we headed back to our cottage, where the s'mores-making experience we reserved had already been laid out and was waiting for us by the fire! The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast in the morning was delicious as well, and free! We took a walk around the grounds to check out all the other cottages available, and we are already daydreaming about visiting again soon to experience the other accommodations. Staying here is a very indulgent experience, but I promise you it's worth every single penny!

Yelp
This is tough. Winvian Farm is a lovely place with a high reputation, and we enjoyed our first experience there. Mostly. Sort of mostly. It's difficult to try and pull all of it together, but here's our entry. First, the grounds are very attractive although there was much construction underway during our visit and we had to make a few detours. The interior is likewise attractively rustic and very appealing. So where the staffers we encountered, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. The bar is woody and comfy, the bartenders pretty good at their tasks (though honestly we've had better martinis and Bloody Marys). The dining area upstairs (there's an elevator if you need it) is also attractive with good outside views, and we loved our darkly paneled private room for our group of ten. And then there's the food. For Thanksgiving we got only one choice: a four-course turkey dinner. Some of us would have preferred some dining choices, but ... The food was alright. The butternut squash soup was delicious, but would have been better served hot instead of lukewarm. The fresh ingredients in the salad were delicious, perhaps our favorite of the meal. And disappointingly, the turkey was a bit on the chewy side, and the sausage stuffing just didn't work for us. The servers were friendly but weren't always fully attentive to our requests, and there were rather lengthy delays between servings. Again, the overall experience was good but not great, not five stars great, at least. We came away with mixed feelings. We'd like to return when we have some menu choices. And maybe with a smaller group. But we'll take our time. Winvian is definitely on the expensive side; it's no place for a casual dining visit, at least not on our budget. So, overall, as you can read, we have some mixed feelings about Winvian. But we're hesitant to drawn firm conclusions on the basis of one visit. We're just not sure when that second visit might occur...

Yelp
We had an incredible stay at Winvian! We were in the Beaver Cottage which was a rustic but luxurious cabin. We enjoyed the food at Maggie's Tavern, Winvian Farm Restaurant and participated in a stained glass making class and had s'mores after dinner one night. Their spa services are top notch and have couples massages in a room with a fireplace and champagne afterwards. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful with Anthony, Christina, and Rachel being particular standouts. We look forward to returning!

Yelp
Restaurant in an old restored house that is on a funky country getaway-esk resort I came here with my GF for her birthday, and we got their tasting menu because...well...that is the only thing they offer First thing is first, the place requires you to buzz-in in order for them to open their gate to let you in, and then they valet your car When you first walk in you enter into their bar area, but then they will bring you back into their seating section There are a few different rooms here, each with just 2-3 tables inside. When my GF and I came here there was only one other couple that was in our room with us, which led to some awkward silences and interactions as we could definitely hear each other's conversations. The menu here changes each day, and it is comprised of a bunch of different things that are grown on premises. You get to choose between the 3-and-4 course options, and they have very similar price points. Both options have a similar amount of food, as if you choose the fewer course option your portions are larger and vice-versa They also have an extensive wine and cocktail list. My GF and I opted for the 4-course option, and we tried a variety of cocktails as well. Everything was absolutely amazing! The service here was also incredible, as they waited on us hand-and-foot It is a pricey spot, but I highly recommend for a special occasion!

Yelp
Went for dinner with some friends. This place is an experience Reservations are a must if you are not staying here! From the time you pull onto the property you need to be buzzed in. They have valet for the restaurant! We did a 4 course tasting, every course left a flavor that you didn't want to go away but we were excited for the next course. Service is absolutely amazing! We had a few people checking on us throughout the night. Dinner lasted a few hours which was nice cause we were catching up with friends and didn't want to be rushed. Servers read our body language and checked on us na appropriate number of times, wasn't over bearing and at the same time didn't miss a beat Looking forward to a stay in one of the cabins .

Yelp
Very sad, because we really enjoyed it. We had a gift certificate, and they could not find it, because "they changed systems." Then I called to make a reservation and was told they were not serving lunch. Then I was asked how many were in my party. I said two, and magically they had a table. I asked for my gift certificates to be credited back since I paid for them during their promotion which gave me 20% off. What good are they if you can't use them and they change their story? I no longer trusted them. Who would? Heather the granddaughter or daughter then said, she did not have to refund me. So sad.

Billy L.

Yelp
Excellent Sunday lunch; best fish I've ever had! My wife thought it was too pretentious, but I liked the service and atmosphere.

Yelp
top of the line! Staff is wonderful. nothing is on the cheap. When you need to truly get away, this is where you come.

Maryann N.

Yelp
Amazing experience Excellent service Outstanding food Will return Just a bit pricey

Yelp
This was our first time dining at Winvian Farm and it was wonderful! We went to the Tavern for lunch this past Saturday. The restaurant and the grounds are beautiful! The lunch menu at the Tavern is limited but the selections are very well thought out. We started with the cheese & charcuterie board which was really good. For our main courses we had the Caesar Salad & the Ham and Swiss Panini with Carrot Soup- both were delicious! The cocktails (peach balini & a Gibson Martini) - both were perfectly made. Our server was excellent! My wife had injured her wrist earlier in the day & our server made her a terrific ice pack!! We can't wait to come back for dinner!!

Yelp
Unique place for special occasions. A turn of the century large home for Winthrop & Vivian, hence Winvian, on a farm converted to an exclusive restaurant, bar, wedding special occasion venue. We were in the "Yellow" room which was large & bright for a party of 4. Fine food, superb service, adorable ambiance & a reasonable fixed price menu selection.

steve l.

Yelp
Secluded location- amazing interior- European service what else is there to be said. Simply a gem .

Michael H.

Yelp
Lovely cabin in the woods where we had everything we needed. We stayed in the Maritime. Food was very expensive for dinner, although breakfast was included. Once in a lifetime experience. Great staff. Loved it.

Katie M.

Yelp
I've eaten here many times and would say the food is mediocre at best. I have also gone to the spa a number of times and it is very nice. If I were to look for a spa or dinner experience in the area I would recommend the Mayflower Inn over the Winvian (about 25 minutes away). The Winvian has a bit of an uptight feel to it. It is beautiful, but again the Mayflower Inn has much more to offer. Recently when I called to make a dinner reservation there was no availability. I asked if it was an event or if I should check back for cancellations. I was told that due to confidentiality he could not tell me that. What a strange response. I have never had a restaurant withhold such information as if it were a big secret. I was not asking who was dining or anything like that - just if I should check back or if the space has been rented out to a group. This place needs to get over itself and treat their clients with more respect. Today they lost a loyal spa and restaurant customer.

Marie A.

Yelp
I spent the day at the spa but was not entirely satisfied with my visit. My facial was incredible and very relaxing, I would highly suggest going for one. The staff was kind and the atmosphere was perfection. Still, I had a massage and a foot reflexology appointment. I was unimpressed with both as the therapist was not able to put any pressure. I asked her to go deeper but realized she was incapable of it. The foot reflexology appointment was incredibly displeasing. I was very disappointed with this procedure. The masseuse didn't use any pressure, all she did was place her finger on my foot repeatedly with no force. I was actually shocked by the experience and felt it was a waste. i would not visit this spa again for these services.

Yelp
After staying at this hotel with my husband, we decided to return with our two children. Our stay two months previous was pleasant, though at the time the restaurant was closed for dinner. We had recommend that several friends visit the hotel. This time we planed our visit so that we might try the restaurant and check out the treehouse cottage with the kids. We arrived late in the afternoon in time for dinner. The meal was quite good and we returned to our room to settle in for the night. The gas fireplace which had been working before dinner, was not working after dinner. We called the front desk. Upon investigation they declared that there was a "gas leak" and that they would have to shut off the gas. Since the room had heat, we thought nothing of it, stayed up a few hours, and by bed time, the room was chilly. The heat was not working. The front desk could do nothing at 11:30 pm. There were no extra blankets. No space heater. We were unable to sleep even with our down jackets over our covers. When morning came, the thermostat read 51 degrees. In my 60 years of staying in hotels throughout the world, this was singly the worst hotel experience of my lifetime. When we notified the hotel of our experience they offered to not charge us for our nights stay. This being a Relais Chateau, one of the world's top hotel groups, I suggested that they do more than the bare minimum. Even the Holiday Inn would offer to comp us on a night's stay in the future. After all, wouldn't they want to obliterate our highly negative experience with a positive one? It was our second stay there. We were members of the Relais Chateau Club. The answer from the owner was "no." This is not what I expected from a Relais Chateau. It is not the experience I had at the many Relais Chateaus I have stay at around the world. Pity. Good PR is can be cheap if you think about it.

Yelp
This weekend was a surprise trip for my 60th birthday. I had no idea where we were going or even what to bring with the exception of bring my Coast Guard veteran hat and my old "Flight Helmet ". When I walked into the "Helicopter Barn" I was just in awe as there is a Sikorski HH3f Helicopter in this room. For me the last time I flew in one was 1984. The staff and the room and grounds were all perfect. I can't say enough good things about this place. All the different theme cottages is just over the top.

Jane M.

Yelp
By far one of the most unique resorts I have ever visited. Winvian is more like adult camp with the coolest cabins that you will ever see. Each cabin, with its unique theme, are nothing like any place you will ever see. Incredibly deluxe furnishings and magnificent bathrooms. The spa is gorgeous, the common space or living room is warm and comfortable, the restaurant food and service are second to none. If you are looking for a unique location for a business meeting, party or wedding, this will fit the bill as well..

Laura R.

Yelp
We had an intimate 11-person 25th wedding anniversary luncheon in late September. The team at Winvian could not have been more flexible and accommodating. We were provided with a lovely and quiet private room upstairs with access to the balcony. The service was impeccable and the food was tasty. Unlike some other high-end resorts in the Litchfield County area, we were not required to pay a room rental fee, place a deposit, meet a food and beverage minimum, or stick to only a prix fixe menu. The ambience was also very unstuffy and peaceful. Strongly recommend for a tasty and peaceful dining experience. We'll be back.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Great service and very intimate setting! All the servers were very attentive and friendly. Amazing food! The concord grape sorbet for dessert was definitely a hit!

Assunta S.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the most unique experiences my husband and I have had during our New England travels. Actually, throughout the country. It's genius! The property is gorgeous. The concept behind the cottages is pure brilliance in every way. Dining farm to fork is always preferable for us. Incredibly attentive staff. I cannot Say enough about Winvian Farms except my new goal is to stay in all 18 cottages. Sustainability, creativity and authenticity are things most other resorts lack. You nailed it! Cannot wait to be back to this hidden gem Very well done Chef Chris Eddy and staff

Marilee C.

Yelp
This review is for the day spa only. We didn't stay or eat there, so I can't speak to that. I went here with a group. I have to admit that when we were making reservations, I was a bit put off by the prices. How could anything be worth this much! Still, I didn't get upset when I paid the bill. I can see how several hours of rest and relaxation, in addition to the treatment, make the price reasonable. This spa is in a beautiful setting, and the rooms to relax in are wonderful. I had a scrub, and it was highly enjoyable. It was like a scrub and a massage all in one. Also, you have pretty much unlimited time to lounge in your robe and slippers (provided), take a shower, sit in a sauna (somewhat small and co-ed, just so you know), drink tea (complimentary), and just relax in the beautiful environment. I uploaded a picture so you can see one of the areas. There were a few minor issues with timing, and some of the girls had their treatments cut short so the spa could stay on schedule. My only real complaint with this was that the spa had said that they could be flexible with treatments, but the guest of honor had her treatment cut short without any discussion or acknowledgment of that fact. This was unfortunate because the next girl would have been happy to give some of her time so that the guest of honor could have the best possible time on her special day. Other girls had their treatments cut short too, again without discussion or acknowledgment. I wish the spa had been more accomodating on that point, or even discussed it so that we could tell them the best way to handle any concerns that they had.

Yelp
My wife and I spent an amazing Valentine's Day at the Winvian. As always - the staff are amazing and so accommodating. It was our first stay in the Camping Cottage and we really loved it. Dinner friday night was stellar. Every course was fantastic and the wine pairing was excellent. My wife really enjoyed her spa treatment. We'll definitely be back!

Jill G.

Yelp
Our room was fantastic. In the woods in your own cottage! Peaceful is an understatement! The staff is very nice, breakfast view is amazing and breakfast was also fantastic. Dinner was great but it was silent and awkward people were very snooty. If there was another restaurant with a bar on the grounds i would give this hotel 10 stars if i could! If you are looking for a private getaway then this is your spot! Spa was amazing, had a great massage and fire. Will definitely be back

Kerry M.

Yelp
Winvian is a beautiful spot with delicious food an wonderful cottages. The one big negative was that they list "mountain bikes" which was an activity we were eager to do. These are in no way mountain bikes, the are old rickety, fearless bikes, I attempted a ride and the brakes didn't work and it could barely steer. For the cost of a cottage those bikes should be replaces and they should not promise "mountain bikes."

Pamela J.

Yelp
Review is for spa only. I wanted to love this place. I really did. But there is absolutely nothing special about the spa. The actual architecture of the building is lovely but there are no accoutrements to make you go ooh and aah. I got some tea - great. There weren't even fun luxurious items in the bathing area that made me want to try them and take a shower and linger. I rushed out of there as quickly as I could. The facial I received? Ugh. The lady talked the whole darn time and I wasn't able to relax like a second. Sure I could have asked her to be quiet but then that creates mixed energy. I was only planning to tip her $10 as I was so unhappy but the spa tacks on a gratuity and I think it came to around $40. I've gotten $450 facials and when you get substance for price, I have no issue whatsoever. This $180 facial with that non deserved gratuity, well I was disappointed to have not gone to the Asian nail place to get a facial instead. There was nothing special about this "spa" at all. I still am glad to have tried as its been on my list for awhile.

Yelp
I recently stayed here for a wedding weekend and it was beyond incredible. The property is gorgeous - rustic but very well kept. They have super unique cottages with different nature-related themes. I stayed in the main house in the Hadley Suite. It was comfortable, spacious, and very well kept. The bathroom had heated floors and a steam shower, super luxurious. The customer service was impeccable. And now for the food....WOW! We had a "New England style" meal for the rehearsal - butternut squash soup, roasted chicken, and a delicious pear tartlet for dessert. Chicken is usually the last thing I'd order on a menu, but this was perfect. It was prepared statler style with the skin on. It was juicy and had a great flavor. For the wedding the next night, we had the most incredible gnocchi for a starter and the duck for our entree. Everything was prepared beautifully and it tasted amazing. I would love to treat myself to a night here again - what an experience!!

Yelp
Came for a 2 night stay for my wife's birthday and I am still speechless. Winvian farm is everything plus more. We stayed in the Maritime cottage. At first I was worried that it would not live up to the prices. But I was wrong. You get what you pay for. The service is top notch, including all the little details that happen that you dont even realize happen such as cookies next to your bed when you return from dinner. The resturant lives up to all its awards that its received. Truly fantastic. I would return in a heartbeat!!!

Yelp
Horrible maitre'd . Not accommodating . Grace Mayflower is far superior and is also a Relais Chateau property. Food selection EXTREMELY limited. Mayflower does much better. White Hart Inn is better! Great place for sports car en Property had some fooseball, billiards , and Mini shuffleboard, board games in disrepair with missing pieces. Menu had "pigeon" as opposed to "squab" not appealing to urbanites. Was a Merrill Lynch investors home and it feels a bit hodgepodge . The Mayflower is the real Relais Chateau experience . My 911 Porsche was left under sap producing trees- will not return .

Yelp
Beyond incredible. Every detail is perfected to give guests an amazing and spectacular experience... yes, experience. This is not just about the food, service, or accommodations, but Winvian makes each part of your visit piece together to make it a truly memorable experience. We are so thankful to have gotten to enjoy it!

Yelp
I hate to write negative reviews, but after sitting with my experience at the spa for a day or so I feel compelled to write something. First, I will say, the spa is beautiful aesthetically speaking- the wood and stone work is really stunning...everything else? Not so good. Nothing special. As a matter of fact the massage therapist that I had at winvian was the SAME massage therapist who gave me a massage at massage envy 2 months ago. If you're looking for real bodywork, I recommend doing your research. Otherwise save yourself $200-$300 and go to massage envy. The manager (i presume- blonde woman at the desk) didn't seem to know much about anything - seemed clueless and cutesy. Major turn off to those of us who are truly seeking wellness.

Yelp
Had a wonderful 3-course prix-fix dinner at Winvian Farm. Service was impeccable and the food was divine in taste and presentation. Several ingredients are grown on the farm and others sourced locally from the finest farms and suppliers. I highly recommend, Preston

Yelp
I've eaten in Rome, Paris, New York, Boston, Miami, San Francisco - our dinner at The Winvian on Friday exceeded any previous dining experience in the last twenty years. The atmosphere was excellent - beautiful location, intimate setting, perfect timing and personalized service (including a visit to our table by the supremely talented head chef Chris Eddy). The dinner menu was brief but thoughtful. I was very pleased with the wine list - nearly 20 pages of half and full bottles from all over the world at very reasonable prices across a spectrum of points. It did not appear as though the mark up was gouging as at some venues. Wine: Craggy Range, Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand, 2009. Perfect bouquet and temperature. Although we finished our bottle, our server graciously offered additional pours... generous touch! Appetizers: Spring Pea Soup with Seared Scallops - delicious flavor with fresh mint and a dusting of chili and pea foam, baby spring peas from the garden and perfectly cooked scallops. Grilled Octopus Salad - my husband raved about the preparation, he was mystified by how light and tender the octupus was. Amuse #1: Oyster Rockerfeller on a bed of fleur di lis and the tiniest diced lemon zest- my husband ate both of these and enjoyed them. Amuse #2: Jerusalem Artichoke over an artichoke puree with olive oil - this was fine, nothing huge here. Amuse #3: Rabbit Tortellini - my husband loved this (I don't eat rabbit), again he was surprised at how the meat maintained such a tender consistency with a perfectly grilled exterior. He said the tortellini was well made and reminded him of his Italian grandmother's. Entree: Seared Halibut with grilled leeks - Excellent piece of fish that was over a bed of tiny diced pears (I think? It was a very mild flavored citrus) and leeks that were not just grilled but wrapped and knotted with tiny herbs and microgreens. Duck Breast - My husband feared that it might be undercooked at first glance but once he sliced and tasted it, he realized he'd been overcooking duck all of these years. A small duck confit with seared cippolini onions accompanied. He normally chooses a cut of beef for dinner but has now decided this was his favorite meal. Dessert: Chocolate Souflee with creme brulee sauce and vanilla gelatto. Just the right amount of sweet and rich, perfect small portion so as not to overstuff after a such a wonderful meal. From flavor profiles to presentation to temperature and seasonings, the food was magnicent. WE WILL RETURN REGULARLY.

Yelp
My first trip to Winvian Farm won't be my last! I took my daughter for her birthday. My idea of a luxury vacation involves an ocean view with a terrace at a 5 star resort. This place is luxurious! Each detail was thought out and magnificent. The heated floors and fireplace and even the sinks were staying with the theme of the cabin. People were beyond helpful and friendly and courteous. The spa was wonderful and pretty. Food was very good. I can't believe I'm saying this but don't miss this place. L. Hamilton

Yelp
My husband and I were married in a small ceremony at Winvian in 2016 in thr Charter Oak cabin. We expanded on the elopement package, and their event planner, Kathleen took care of every detail. We did a lunch for guests, and the 5-course tasting menu for dinner the following night. We are vegetarian and the chef was attentive to our needs and prepared exquisite meals for us. Service was excellent, down to the homemade cookies at our bedside for turn down service. We shared a couples massage, which was also lovely. I can't say enough about how special our time was at Winvian. Zero complaints, and lovely memories.

Yelp
Art is the illusion of spontaneity and so is hospitality at Winvian. We celebrated a birthday on the porch and delighted in excellent FRESH from the garden salad and soup. Desert was beyond beautiful and delicious. Service was attentive without being stiff. Absolutely can't wait to return.

Yelp
Stayed here this past weekend for a getaway. And a perfect getaway it was. We stayed in the golf cottage- which was an experience we'll never forget. It overlooked the meadow but had 8 holes of putt putt in the room! The tub is in a steam shower for an incredible experience. Dinner was divine, worth the drive, and we'd totally be back again for it. Breakfast we had in the cottage and would've been perfect if it had been hot. All in all, a worthwhile experience to go. Worth every penny.

Yelp
Just came from the Winvian for some drinks/food and left us really disappointed. We have been here several times and use to love the place but tonight some real damage was done, as we arrived the staff told us weren't sure if could serve just for drinks in the patio as they were too busy at the restaurant and treated us like we were not worth enough to be there, the server Jessica was extremely rude, totally acting they were not interested in serving on us... Keep in mind that the bar was absolutely empty. What an horrible experience and I highly regret for not asking for the manager and say what a poor service they offer, totally a not luxury resort more like TGIF ambience. Don't worry you will not see us again!

Yelp
The food at the Winivan is excellent. The lodging on the other hand is not being properly maintained. Our room cost $1300 per night and we did not sleep because of the mice scurrying in the walls. When I brought this to the attention of management I got the sense they already knew they had a problem....the front vestibule to our room was being used as a storage facility for extra chairs and plastic bins; the front porch pillars were rotten and should serious damage

Yelp
We had such a lovely time here celebrating New Years! The cabins were beautiful and cozy. The steam shower was amazing!!! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially the manager Paulo. They were also very kind about our dog staying there (and Paulo even brought him treats). The food was incredible and we really enjoyed our Swedish massages with Heather. It's a wonderful and special getaway for couples. I'd highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
We went there for lunch for the 3rd time this past year, awsome.i think it got better each visit, the food and service are first class. We have stayed at Twin Farms in Vermont and I think the food here is right there with it

Yelp
Fucking bomb ass food, super boujee, never had a better meal in my entire life. Call ahead for reservations be prepared to pay atleast $150 pp. dont think you are getting in on a fri or sat night if your arent staying there over night in one of the cabins ($850+)

Yelp
My friend and I drove up from the city for a getaway night. She made a reservation at the spa for a wash and blow dry. Upon arriving she was told they didn't have shampoo, and she would have to wash her hair in the room. She felt this was inappropriate and didn't come back. We had dinner that night and found the courses to be lackluster smothered in sauce. Over all I felt the hotel was way over priced and the quality of food and service not up to New York City standards. The$1604 charges for room and dining were certainly extravagant. I see no need to return when I visit Litchfield county.

Yelp
Amazing dinner with 8 friends in a private room. Every dish was outstanding, the service was impeccable. We will be back.

Yelp
Very nice property, nicely done. Everything was great until we were seated upstairs for our Boxing Day Brunch. Things went downhill fast... It is important to mention that we just had a great dinner on Christmas Day, drank plenty, had the best time - we were going back to the city but needed a nice brunch with our friends so we decided to give Winvian a try. I am such a snob yet I hate a place that only offers still or sparkling water. Ummm, I like tap. I know it's crazy but I do. Then we had to go find our waiter because we waited 15 minutes and nobody came to take our drinks order. So when he finally came, he took drink and food orders at once. I like to enjoy my drink while looking at the menu! Crazy, right? We were given a 5 second intro to how the menu varies daily depending on fresh ingredients. Hello, we live in NYC, we do get the concept. We also live by the concept of appetizers and mains. Even for brunch. I know, again, crazy, right? All we wanted to know was if there were any specials in addition to the listed dishes... The menu has maybe a dozen items on it. Soup, salmon, salad, prosciutto croque monsieur, pasta - all in one column. Prices range from probably 12 to 30 or so, yet you have no idea if something is on the smaller side or if it's a larger portion. Strange. We order a few chickpea salads and the terrines to share. Salad is good. Terrines are OK. I have not tasted the chicken soup (thai) but two people at our table enjoyed it. The croque monsieur was OK. The salmon was ultra bland, resembled a frozen Lean Cuisine meal with the bed of greasy spinach and some tiny cubes of beets. What really disturbed us all was how unappetizing and how downright tasteless the pesto fettucini was. One person sent it back. My boyfriend, who is a huge pasta eater, tried to save his by asking for some cheese - he did finish it. He was not thrilled. Oh, when asking for cheese, he was asked what kind of cheese he'd like as they do offer a selection. Huh? The $30 Spanish white was pretty good. And so were the complimentary biscotti at the end of the meal. We're NOT going back and it's a shame as we wanted to stay at the Winvian and enjoy the food just as much. Mayflower Inn is WAY better. Sorry, Winvian - you don't put the 'win' in Winvian to me.

Yelp
As with other Relais & Chateau we've been to the service here is impecable. Food quality and environment is top notch. No surprise it's a classic Colonial theme for it's New England. Do yourself the favor, at least sample the setting - no regret will comebat this class of hospitality.

Yelp
Beautiful and relaxing. Would recommend Winvian to anyone wanting to get away from the city and take a breather in a beautifully peaceful place. The greenhouse is a breathtaking cottage with all the amenities you could ask for, even bicycles!! And to make this getaway extra special the pup was able to tag along!! Everything was perfect - not to mention the absolutely delicious food at every meal and great kind service. Such a beautiful farm to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. can't wait to return !
